The food was very disappointing. My friend was given mash instead of chips.When the waitress was made aware of the error, she said there was nothing that could be done as that was what was on the receipt Having looked at the receipt before we left she was the one who had made the error. The food was also cold.. The customer service was non existant!! Very unfriendly & unprofessional

Food lukewarm. Even replacement meal of steak and kidney pie, mashed potatoes and peas was lukewarm. Majority of staff were miserable and unhelpful. Only male waiter was friendly. Lots of stairs to negotiate once through only disabled entrance. Wheelchair lift was not obvious and signage for toilets was very poor. Service was not good and grudging apology for long wait for replacement meal. Very disappointed as we have been here before and expected previous experience. So cannot recommend to others. No adjacent parking.

We have just had breakfast here and we will not be going back, although the price is good and you can have unlimited tea and coffee the breakfast was cold which is a shame because it would have been lovely if it was hot.

Probably one of the worst spoons I’ve been to. The staff do not care at all and it is portrayed in the food. Cold, minimal and not that nice. The only good thing about this place is cheap drinks and the toilets are plentiful. The location is pretty good as well but this does attract a certain clientele, which makes the experience worse. Would not recommend. Find a different spoons or pick a different pub.

The table and chairs need attention, needs cleaning is an understatement! The meal was microwave food that can be done at home. I chose this place on a sunny Sunday afternoon, intending to receive a delicious meal, but was very disappointed. Will not return.

There was a time when a Spoons breakfast was a highlight of a weekend. That was many years ago. My experience this weekend was typical now, and a reason I rarely visit anymore. The staff were reluctant to serve and impolite. They were frustrated at the prospect of adding black pudding to a breakfast. The food took nearly twenty-five minutes to arrive. Most of it was lukewarm, the bacon burnt, the sausages are simply foul - deviod of flavour and have a jelly-like textutre. The overall condition of the site is sad and run down. While the price is still relatively reasonable, the food was so bad it still isn't good value. Was good fun explaining to my 10 year old niece why they could fry a hashbrown, but not a bowl of chips anymore. Honestly, if you have the money for a Spoons breakfast, you have the money for a breakfast at a greasy spoon somewhere. You'll enjoy it a hell of a lot more than you will a wetherspoons breakfast.

4 of us went for lunch ordered food took a long while for food to arrive when it did 3 meals arrived was told other one was on its way my meal was cold but the three of us finished our meals and the last meal had still not arrived so my friend went to the bar to ask was gone a while then arrived carrying her own meal to the table friend said don’t order dessert we won’t get it so we left we were there for an hour and 40 minutes for one course

Have always enjoyed breakfasts here - you get what you pay for. Today it was awful, ordered smashed Avocado with pico de gallo and rocket on a muffin with poached egg. Whites of the egg were raw and cold, muffin was cold and tough with literally a smear of avocado, no pico de gallo or rocket but liberal sprinking of raw onion and Coriander... really!! Complained and got a new poached egg but only a 'sorry' about the muffin. Husbands full English was also cold and bacon was overcooked and tough. Overheard other table complaining about missing items. And it wasnt even busy. Not wetherspoons finest day.

Once again I find myself having to complain about a Weatherspoon. We called in for fish and chip lunch and wish we hadn’t. The fish was either overcooked or it had been kept heated for a long time. When we tried to cut into the fish it just flew apart and tried to leave the plate. Horrible, another one we won’t be going back to.

Decided to go here before catching the train home, very busy clearly short staffed I had to clear the table myself, the food and drinks arrived fairly quickly, I ordered a coke on the app and went to dispense to get it myself due to wait (I have worked in a bar so they had my deepest sympathy), staff pleasant and helpful the building is lovely I will return.

Popped into the golden hope for a hopefully tasty fry up on my day off. The place was quiet and plenty of seating available. Excellent, I thought! Ordered the traditional English breakfast and and was happy to pay just £2.99 for a meal deal! The plate arrived in about 10 minutes. However… Not good: beans and bacon nearly cold. Sausages and egg nice and warm. No one came over to ask how my plate was unfortunately. But it was just 3 pounds for some not great food, isn’t too bad I suppose, but I’ll not return. Rather pay more for better quality next time.

Overall terrible when I ordered my steak medium rare it came out like shoe leather got it recooked and still bad but as at least edible got a bad attitude from the manager my other half who ordered the tikka masala the rice was stone cold and the naan bread was like concrete and had to be reheated the chicken wings at one end were black rotten but the manger insisted they are checked regularly which clearly was a lie they refunded the wings but overall terrible on top of all that the cutlery was disgusting thankfully my other half had some antibacterial wipes so that we could clean our own cutlery before we could use it it to eat with, what an utter joke of a place if I could give O I would 1 is to good

Since I discovered 'Spoons' I have to say it has been great. I am amazed how on earth they do it for the price and the quality. As a local business, if I suggest to my staff, 'Would you like to go for breakfast chaps' there is NO hesitation at all, a resounding YES!!! Then it never ceases to simply amaze me the prices, they are just such good value. The staff are always happy and polite and the place is always clean. My only suggestion for 'Spoons' would be, could you put a small bin in the middle of the table to put your rubbish in when you have used the stirrers or salt and pepper. It would make me happy, I like to leave the table looking tidy. But try it people, I do not think you will be disappointed, even the beer is in my opinion very cheap.

Wetherspoon pubs are what they are. Cut price food and drink and usually you get what you expect. This particular pub has got worse and worse over the past few years. It’s very tired and worn out inside and the food is dreadful. I had steak and kidney pudding with mash and peas today. First attempt was cold food with gravy that was like a brown jelly. It went back for a second attempt. Slightly warmer but hard lumps in the mash where it had been microwaved to death. Portion size was pathetic and basically a child’s meal , I should have taken a picture for this review. When this place was run by original manager ( Amy) it was well run , clean and she always came round and spoke to everyone. Now there is zero customer care. Also worth pointing out that the place is very cold inside unless you get one of the three cells. To prove that I am not just negative the Abbott Ale was very nice.

Please don't ever go in this weatherspoons the staff are so rude and they spy on you on cctv make of that what you will ,,they refused to give me there names and the managers names,,as a contractor I've been in some weatherspoons but never ever again. Will I go in this 1

Returned here after previous issues many years ago. unfortunately, it was worse than before... The service at the bar was awful with people jumping queues etc and staff favoring people they know or chatting to colleagues rather than serving. When I was served and I mentioned queue jumpers I was told how hard their jobs are since COVID and how hard their lives are. I suggested they simply ask members of the public 'who was next please' but was then informed it is not Wetherspoons policy to say this, which personally I just dont believe. I love Wetherspoons as a business model and every branch I visit has been positive but this branch for some reason has had the same issues with service on the few times I have visited, even before the existence of COVID.

Another typical Wetherspoons; nothing wrong with that as you get what you pay for but it does feel that it needs a bit of attention. The food and staff are great but the tables and chairs all feel a bit dirty.

Me and my friends went for breakfast today and were asked to leave as too young. Had ordered using the app and nobody had said anything about us being in there despite multiple staff walking past and saying nothing! After waiting 30 minutes just for drinks they were very rude and told us that we had to leave now! We asked about a refund she was very stuck up and said yes I will do it but you need to leave we left and phoned to make sure they put they refund through which wasn’t showing in my bank and they rudely answered the phone saying it would be 7-10 days which isn’t good enough considering they kicked us out and we needed to go get breakfast now by now it was 11:00 so didn’t have much time left. My two friends went back in to ask about the refund as we weren’t happy with how we were treated and that we hadn’t got the refund. The lady was extremely rude and said I’ve already told you 8-10 days and she didn’t care also asked us to leave again! Will not be going back as I have never experienced so rude people in my life

Been here a few times before, a nice pub and always thought the food was great for the money. Took the family for lunch. Favourite from last time (drive thru burger) was no longer on the menu, so used the app and ordered 2 ultimate burger meals, kids nugget meal and a buttermilk chicken burger meal, all with chips.Food took over half an hour to arrive and when we got it to the table the onion rings were overcooked and dry, the 'ultimate' burgers a mess with undercooked bacon, chicken burger was overdone and when we asked for condiments they only had mayo and vinegar and no other sauces available due to a 'shortage' of ketchup?! So the kids had dry chips and nuggets with no tomato sauce and didn't enjoy their food. Had we been informed prior to ordering we would of just taken them to McDonald's. Dissappointing when we'd told the kids on the way how nice the food was. I'll come back for a drink, but give the food a miss.

Came for breakfast with my son and partner today and have to say it was the worst breakfast I've ever had. The whole thing was cold except for the warm ish sausage. My eggs were missing. My partner's toast looked like it had a bite out of it. The black pudding was solid and the staff were no where to be seen.if breakfast is this bad I'd never come back for dinner.

Arrived and stood in a queue for 10 minutes. Needn’t have as we were supposed to find a table and order from the app. Would have been nice to have been told. Table had glasses and bottles from previous customers., still there 2 hours later when we left. 45 minutes to book food on the app, adjacent tables having same problem. Eventually the meal arrived, a shrivelled sirloin which was chewy and overcooked, I asked for rare. The peas were cooked to a mush and the waitress spilled the sauce onto the table, wiped with my serviette which was not replaced. My wife’s burger was a shocker and her chips were like mine, soft and not very hot. All in all very disappointing, if cannot cope with reduced clientele should not be open at all, it is a travesty that you will be able to claim back 50% from the government. I feel let down and ripped off. Booking was on Tuesday 11 August.

First of all I love Wetherspoon but what I can’t stand is a chef who knows he’s burnt the gammon, chicken and steak in a mixed grill on one side to a crisp and then try and hide it by turning the burnt side face down and still allow this to be served. Not good enough and the chef last night (about 6pm) should be ashamed of themselves. Ruined the evening as I sent the meal back and then had to eat the new one while my family had finished theirs!

First of all let me start by saying I do like this pub and I am likely to go back as i suspect this was a one off occurrence caused by young inexperienced staff.A Christmas veggie brie burger was ordered and it turned up with bacon on top. It was noticed straight away by us and was taken to the bar and politely pointed out where the bar staff apologised and arranged a replacement. The problem was the passive aggressive attitude of the kitchen staff afterwards who left our table uncleared whilst clearing every table around us. As the champion of passive aggression I Simply moved the plates to a table that had already been cleared and surprise, surprise it was cleared straight away.A young family also had a young baby in and, not unnaturally, it made some mess but the moaning from the staff was audible as they were clearing it.I put all this down to poor staff on the day as usually we have very little trouble here. Based on our larger experience we will be back.But really...bacon on an obvious veggie burger?

Booked a Christmas meal for a party of 8 friends - unusual to reserve tables at Wetherspoons, but we took a chance. When we arrived, the table had been set up for us. Pre ordered meals were delivered together along with the ad hoc meal ordered on the night. In all, a well organised event.

Spacious room large comfortable bed, clean spacious bathroom. Down side was no parking facilities on site, there is a car park not far away but this was not advised by the hotel.

At times can be very busy, the overall pub looks a bit shabby with stains on chairs. Good value for money but nothing special. Good as good served up to 11pm

Went in on a Friday afternoon after work. Couldn't get to the bar. Really unpleasant people in there. People as in all white working class males with a misguided sense of entitlement. Having said that if you know it's gonna be busy put some extra bloody staff!!

The food was so lovely and the staff were genuine and polite. Even catered for my 15 month old nephew.

We went to this Witherspoon’s great looking pub on inside, thought the old cella’s were very nice touch, some of girl staff were very slow at serving didn’t know who were next. Then some managers came down to bar and woke them up. The 20 minute wait for the ice cold beers was worth it, the next round of drinks I ordered through the app which was a lot quicker, food looked great and pub had a very good atmosphere, nice to sit outside and watch the world go by, cheers Withers’s

Food good for the money, service good especially on the app. Bouncers very very rude. Back door not always open for push chairs to come in only one side open so very hard to squeeze in.

My husband and I pop in at least fortnightly for breakfast. The full English breakfast and eggs Benedict are always fine. The good thing about any spoons is you know what you’re getting. I order using the app and would say that the only downfall is you can make alterations/additions to meals if using the app.

Being new to the area we gave the local Weatherspoon a try. As with many others it could do with an upgrade in respect of decoration and furniture. The female toilets however are the best I've ever seen in respect of size and numbers. It's a shame they get the usual type of client visiting who like to rip toilet roll holders off the wall and break locks. The food was what you expect to get in a Weatherspoon reasonably priced and edible. The place was busy and is obviously very popular the staff were working hard however it took them quite a time to clear tables especially those outside which attracted wasps and flies making it not a very pleasant place to be. We will return.

This is my go to place mainly for breakfast as the selection is amazing and I love the refillable coffee. All the food is great, never had a problem and the staff are very friendly, love the open fire in the winter makes it so cosy

This restaurant is part of the Weatherspoon chain. Food here is excellent and value for money. Outdoor area is great in the summer but the downside is lack of staff cleaning and clearing the places after people left. I will recommend this restaurant.

One of the best Wetherspoon pubs you can get. As a converted courthouse which also used to be a police station you get a variety of seating areas including the old cells which are available to eat in. The memorabilia of the courthouse and police is very interesting especially the artwork. This place is always very busy which says a lot in my opinion and the themed nights are really good value. If you want to go on the curry night, get there early as it is very popular and every seat will be taken. Where else can you get a double gin and tonic for less than a fiver apart from Wetherspoon’s

Been for breakfast a couple of times, recently the breakfast was ok (some bits were tepid rather than hot) staff helpful but it's those boozers who want that early morning beer and then share the night before with everyone within earshot which is not good if you have children with you.

Cold food dirty restaurant. Kept bringing out wrong order when complaint lodged basically told if you don't like it go somewhere else. Avoid at all costs.usually quite good must have new management or something. Won't be going again

Don’t come here much but always have to wait for service busy or not !! Day or night pick up your speed for god sake no point being cheapest in town if ya can’t purchase a drink to make cheap worth while!! I’ve worked here and Wetherspoons has its cleaning and chores up there before service of their customers a large NO from me customer service staff need to look up and acknowledge who’s next there’s enough staff looking like robots so no wonder the app ordering service took off there is no incentive to go to the bar it’s like a supermarket self service only there you get assistance !!! Spoons needs a refresher on the art of service for sure!!

Been in here a few times and never been impressed.

We have only ever been in this place to eat in the restaurant. We haven’t been there for some time, what a shock when we went today. This place has gone from being lively & vibrant to glum and gloomy, there is no longer the atmosphere there once was. Previously, the food was good quality, now the quality has reduced considerably. The place is now unclean & dirty (take a close look around at the corners of walls etc) even the restaurant tables that are ready for new customers have not been cleaned properly. The steaks we had which were supposed to have been cooked medium rare turned up cooked rare, the food was at best lukewarm and the steak tough and full of gristle, so all in all a very disappointing time, I doubt we will be returning unless there is a massive improvement.

Visited on Thursday night and far exceeded our expectations.

I met a friend for lunch who waited ages to get a drink the manageress was less than friendly almost rude. I then went to purchase two coffees after waiting a good five minutes for some one to come behind the bar to take my money. In the first machine there was no milk the second machine there was no coffee. I asked and there was no friendly response from the staff. The Manager just glared. I mentioned trip adviser to my friend which must have been over heard and all of a sudden we had milk and coffee.

Went here for breakfast, staff were wonderful, very friendly and professional, it was busy, clean and nice, breakfast was delicious, coffee and tea was unlimited, fabulous for those wanting more than one tea or coffee, was very relaxing and no pressure to leave, would highly recommend here for single people, family or meetings, lots of choice on the menu and staff accommodating.

Good prices. Not the most comfortable seating. Good customer care. Limited, calorie heavy menu. Credit to Weatherspoons for re inventing old buildings but the hike to the toilets.......

Came to visit today with family and my young son. First of all on arriving we walked round to the disabled entrance as my son was in his pram. Door was locked and no one answered the door bell. I sent my brother in law round to open it but he said it had been nailed shut. So we’ve had to go round the front and carry the pram up, not a major issue but someone who is disabled could hardly pick up there wheelchair and lift it up the stairs can they?

We arrived at 1.00pm for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was compared to usual. Having placed our order online our food arrived in good time, however our drinks (ordered at the same time) did not. We started the food, which was good and got half way through the meals before I went up to the bar to see where our drinks were. The bar was busier than when we arrived but as the way unfortunately with Witherspoons they never have enough staff on (Managing the margin no doubt). After waiting some time to get noticed i managed to catch one of the waiters who when asked where our drinks were he replied with "what drinks". After showing him the order on my phone he said he would bring them round and within 30 secs they were there. Clearly they had been poured and set up on a tray but then forgotten.The only issue then was one of the glass had lipstick on it, not my colour!!. One of the biggest frustrations with this place is the wait to order a drink, the App "should" improve this, but on this occasions the system failed.Not the end of the world i hear you say but when you order a drink with a meal the idea surely is that they are consumed alongside each other, not afterwards, or am i missing something. Shame as the food was ok as was the atmosphere, You may want to turn the heating down, very very warm, which could save you some funds to pay for an extra bar person, just a thought.

I regularly visit The Golden Hope with either friends or family and it's always a warm and friendly environment to be in.

There are different themed nights, as well as an a la carte menu. On Monday, beer is extremely cheap, at less than £2 a pint! I had a snacky meal: a plate of chicken wings, prawns in batter, ribs and onion rings - all for £10. Not haute cuisine but well-cooked and tasty pub grub!

We visited for Thursday Curry club. I know what to expect from a Wetherspoons,. frequenting them often. The Golden Hope would be my local one I guess, though I don't often pass by

The Golden Hope is a nice pub with an nice exterior and an interior that mixes old and modern nicely. There is a good range of cheap drinks, however the service when I went on midday on New Years Eve was painfully slow which ruined the experience slightly. If you go when this pub is very quiet I'm sure you'll have a good time, maybe not so much when it's busy.

the rude geordie needs to go, no wonder they keep losing staff, you should see the way she speaks to customers and staff, apart from her very nice place and staff

Lovely breakfast menu, normally fairly clean good gin and wine menu. Just a shame there is one older lady in there not sure if she’s a manager or not, but wow, so very rude. She was rude to every person she spoke too. It has actually put me off returning at the moment. Just hope when I do go back she’s either left or been fired.

Good honest, functional, value food and drink. You know what you're getting, I do like visiting Wetherspoons exactly for this. Great drinks and bar staff too. Keep it up please.

Recently met a friend here with others. Have been here before. Good range of beers at a decent price which is what you expect of Wetherspoons. Weird layout and a beer garden as well. This time visited twice i a day and ate on the second visit. Food good quality and good price

We would regularly visit as a family for breakfast when all in town. We loved how they have tables to accommodate large parties.

Certainly worth a visit for breakfast. Lots of choice, great value, easy to add to your order. So much to eat!!! Staff were very pleasant even on a cold wet Sunday morning at 8AM.

We eat here regular and this one waitress did tidy her self up and tie her hair up like the others do. But not tonight it’s back dangling in the food she is bring out, disgusting !

The staff are really nice the decor is to a weathspoons standard the breakfast were average to good with the fried eggs too hard however the waitress brought me others that met a good standard the tea refill was superb all on all a good 4 stars

Stayed here for one night, the accommodation is excellent. We were greeted by a very nice young man who even offered to carry our bags in. The duty manager was polite and professional and explained everything to us that we needed to know. We had a twin room and OMG the bathroom was amazing. It was the size of the bedroom and had roll top bath, shower, double sink and loo, absolutely stunning. Had a great night sleep and the breakfast was the usual (we have been to numerous Wetherspoons and pretty much same standard across the board. It got really busy in the evening (as expected) it is probably the most popular pub in the town I could imagine it being even better in the summer months when you can sit outside. Not sure why people have left poor reviews - it is what it is - its a branded chain - meets your needs and if you don't like it then try to find a better pub in the town bet you can't. Full marks to Wetherspoons thank you.

New to Sittingbourne, The Golden Hope looked welcoming on the outside so I decided upon it for a steak meal and a pint. The staff were pleasant and helpful and meal and drink were served to my table. My steak was large, well cooked and extremely tasty, as was the rest of the meal. My lager cold and welcome. The price was very competitive and for an ordinary meal and drink, this venue would take some beating on value.

What a pathetic excuse for a pub resturant. Bar servers (male-female) were very clearly more occupied with each other than serving the 12/15 customers waiting. Even stopping serving to chat with each other. When I was asked if I was waiting, I said yes I have been for quite some time as have been the crowd around the bar. These staff were NOT helping each other with work but general chatting each other up.

On arriving here on Sunday 21st October I spoke to a woman in a light blue top and explained I had a booking for five for breakfast. She said, no you haven’t. I said I’d phoned the night before, spoke to a male member of staff I said that sometimes five was difficult to seat and he took the booking,along with my phone number and said the duty manager in the morning would seat us.

Sadly Wetherspoons appear to be going downhill for the wrong reasons. What's not to like about cheap drinks, plenty of choice of real ale and food that must be fresh because they serve so much of it? The food is so bland....It's like being in a Wimpy in the 1960s (for those old enough to remember).

It's a Weatherspoons so value is top of the list. The beer and drinks are great but the food..... well, the food. Two mixed grills and a steak arrived. The steak was edible. The mixed grills ... you could've sent the meat to Russia for tank armour. I have no idea how you turn a piece of lamb or chicken into something un-chewable but they did it, real good. We have been here before and standards are definitely slipping. To me to up the game before people cross the road to eat elsewhere.

Visited here two nights in a row with work. Very enjoyable and food served efficiently and with the touches that come at a Wetherspoons. Good prices and you know what’s what. It’s good they make such as effort with buildings such as this, style over the usual ideintikit pubs other chains do.

Always get a good service be nice if they learn best glass to offer not add garnish in whisky drink. 🤦‍♀️ little things that count 👍

I have been coming here since shortly after opening and in the last six months it gone down hill a lot.

Went on a Thursday night after visiting the local cinema. Lots of tables and good choice of food. Long waiting time at bar.... But the Thursday curry was worth the wait as was the non alcoholic beer for the driver!

Asked out for a meal decided on the golden Hope because of price and location got a table outside ordered on app came really quickly lady that served us worked like a Trojan food was good and drink good price.

I came here on Saturday and was very pleased with the quick and pleasant service the food was really nice and was not a long wait.

The Golden Hope was. A old Courthouse. Converted into I really stylish pub. Only thing wrong is there are lots of steps up and down. There is a ramp on the side, so all can access. Very good food. Alcoholic drinks soft drinks tea and coffee. Very nice atmosphere. Recommended to everybody.

Visited today and as always staff were very attentive and happy, cleaning the bars and letting us know they would be straight with us. Visit here often and never disappointed 👌

Some Wetherspoons pubs are soul less and lacking in identity. The Golden Hope is a great venue, being a former court house and in it’s day police station, however it lacks a certain something, possibly generated by the largely corporate humourless staff.

Usually so impressed by the golden hope, I could never say a bad word about it. However today I was unimpressed I went out for some lunch with my mum. The food was bland and lacked texture. So sad that it wasn’t to its usual great standard.

We had both breakfast and lunch here whilst visiting Sunny Sittingbourne.Typical spoons attitude at the bar while ordering. Waiter taking orders to the wrong table then arguing with a family of four about whose fault it was ! The food was ok . The place is handy when you need refuelling as there is limited choice at the times we wanted to eat.

Food was a bit disappointing, most of us were only moderately satisfied. Food varied between overcooked and undercooked, lukewarm and portions not that good size. Shame as nice venue which could be better presented. Table cleared from previous visitors while we waited by polite staff but no tables wiped and all were messy and sticky. Need some attention to detail as it has promise but not as good as it could be. Thankfully the company was good!

Slow service, was the told to move from a table that was reserved for hotel guests to 'check in'. There were no hotel guests checking in on a Saturday night.

We eat here often and it is what it is. However, just recently a member of staff (just has team leader on her badge) serves food with her hair hanging in the plate. We have mentioned it to her and she ignored us or just makes an excuse.

Waiting for the shops to open, after being dropped off early. Interesting place, old police station and court. Decor very nice, disabled toilet spotless. It's also a hotel, has two old cells set out as dining rooms. Small pots of soya milk by the coffee, great. Could not have breakfast as I am very ill and infortunatlely the gluten free porridge had skimmed milk in it. The young bar lady noticed it had milk in it and warned me, giving me an imediate refund with no problems, excellent service, polite, friendly, I could have done with de caf coffee, but didn't see an option on the dispenser. Will defo visit again if in Sittingbourne again. Having a wetherspoons helps lift up a rather, sadly run down little town, which needs some money spent on it, which has the friendliest people, community spirit and I got some bargains, some smashing shops for it's size.
