Golden Hay in North Kesteven

It can be a bit hit and miss. Went on Friday for takeaway the chicken chow mein which you would expect to be a golden yellow colour was dark brown and congealed and went in the bin. The spare ribs were bone dry and went in the dog who also had trouble eating them. The chips had been refried and were also dry and joined the chow mein in the bin. My wife had a prawn curry with egg fried rice and while the curry wasn’t too bad the rice was dark in colour and tasteless (went in bin). The food from here can be half decent at times but when it’s bad it’s very bad. It’s the last time l waste my money here as the bad times are outnumbering the good ones

This is the best Chinese takeaway by far. Never had a bad meal or incorrect order. Very friendly staff & excellent value for money. Even at peak times the longest wait has been 20 mins. Keep it up ladies & gents 👍

OK food, not as good as some of the others in the local area. Service was friendly.

As usual, GREAT. Tasty and fresh. Great portions and value for money. Pity they only do cash and no card and being in village which does not have an ATM, it does add inconvenience.

My friends and I regularly used the take away and it’s great. There is some times a wait at peak times but that’s because it’s popular and good value.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Order wrong...AGAIN!!! Food stodgy and greasy. Spoilt our evening, won't be going there again. Customer service terrible!!!

Wicked. I have tried takeaway round the area but couldn't find one that was tasty and well cooked. Tried Golden Hay last week and from the first mouthful it was sooo good. Well done Golden Hay, it was so good I was nearly drooling knowing hubby was getting us one this week.

Terrible food, not Chinese at all, quality is the worst I have had for awhile, had to put it in the bin, waste of money, wish i stuck to what i know is good, chinese In woodhall Spa is 100% better. Sorry but all of the families food looked and tasted weird, not a Chinese tasting meal at all, needless to say, we will not be going back.

I having to update my review because every single time I visit Golden Hay, I’m amazing at the quality of the food. To start with the customer service - Everybody is ALWAYS so lovely. They really are a lovely establishment and can see they’re passionate about the food they make. The food itself is divine! We go out of our way to drive to this takeaway, despite having half a dozen that are closer - It really is worth it. All I can say is thank you Golden Hay and we look forward to the next time we order!

Lovely food everytime! Bigger portions than surrounding takeaways and cheaper plus they give prawn crackers for free which others don't. Recommended. Still my favourite chinese after 7 years!

Had a few meals from here but always felt as though it wasn't up to much as regards quality, the rice was always dosed well with soy sauce no matter what rice you ordered. the Singapore noodles were never consistent, either dried up old meat in them or more or less nothing. the containers were never fully filled properly. the last meal was not good, it was old food left from the last opening day before the closed day, rang them complaining about it the next evening only to fall on deaf ears, didn't expect that result for being a regular customer, sadly won't be using them again.

For me, as a lover of Chinese cuisine, I am very happy that Goldenhay is close by. As others have said - consistently good.

The food is good and the portions are plentiful for the price. Very good and would recommend. Couldn't find a menu online so included pictures below of menu.

The food and service are consistently good, and orders are taken down efficiently and correctly. You can watch the food being cooked through a window. In my experience the food is most often cooked quickly and estimated time for collection is right (no deliveries). Occasionally at very busy times the wait is longer. Staff are friendly and helpful. Payment is cash only.

First time I’ve tried this Chinese takeaway. Both myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the food and the portions were extremely generous. We will be returning and will highly recommend this place to everyone.

I was very late for my collection, which was totally my fault after having a bit of an emergency. The staff kindly made me fresh food which was delicious. Excellent customer service

I ordered a pineapple fritter and one of them had extra batter on which I thought was weird, but I ate it anyway which was a mistake. That extra batter contained chicken which is bad anyway but more so because I’m vegetarian and now I feel really sick. I have ordered this before without issue.

Food is excellent and kitchen visible for customers to see it being cooked. Staff are very efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Take away and cash only. Can get very busy at the weekend so worth phoning ahead to order

I’ve tried all the Chinese restaurants in the delivery area and this is the best by far. Always ready to collect within 10 mins, great portion sizes, delicious food and always hot!

Returned from holiday tonight and didn't realise they closed at 10pm on a Sunday, I called at 5 mins to 10 and they were happy to stay and make my order, two happy people with, as always a delicious meal. Thank you to all at Golden Hay.

Absolutely brilliant meal tonight. Egg fried rice was perfectly dark, fried and eggy. Kung Po chicken was fantastically spicy. Sweet and Sour chicken balls were extremely crispy batter with large succulent chicken breast pieces inside, the sauce just a great balance of sweet and Sour. The chicken chow mein fried to perfection giving that delicious char that is the key to a chow mein. Topped with a side of mini spring rolls. Just 👍 👌. Along with complimentary prawn crackers. I wish I'd found it before now. I'll be back! Keep up the spice in that Kung-po 🤪 it was awesome 👌

Food is always hot, good selection and friendly service. Never waited long for an order. Cash only so get some out before collecting the order. Very tasty and good price unlike some of the other places around the area. Never had a bad meal yet and the order has always been correct on picking it up.

Not too bad. Prices, portions and quality all good, and my order came with complimentary prawn crackers and fortune cookies. Only four stars as they got my order wrong. I got home and found they gave my food to someone else, and I got theirs. Had to drive back to exchange. Person at the front said it had happened three times that evening so far. Before you leave the building, make sure you check what you have been given.

Good food and cheaper than the other Chinese takeaways we've been to in the area. Can't fault it and friendly polite staff.

Had what was supposed to be a Chinese but never go there again ..sweet and sour sauce was more like hot vinegar ribs was not fit to eat and lemon chicken was 2 chicken breast sliced up and sauce in a pot and to the cost of £32 the bin enjoyed it

The only place to go for Chinese in the area the sweet and sour chicken balls with egg fried rice, crispy chilli beef, chicken or beef szechuan, chicken chow mein in satay sauce are all worthy contenders. Even get prawn crackers on the house. Why go anywhere else, would highly recommend. Always order when the in laws come and stay as they approve. A must try if you haven't been before you won't be disappointed.

Excellent meal from our local chinese. Love the ribs and new black pepper chicken. Dont believe the bad reviews, they dont deliver so they could not of waited an hour for a meal which they said arrived cold!

It was absolutely disgusting it took over an 1 hour for it to come and by the time it was here it was cold let alown the food was hard.

Really good food Pretty cheap compared to the ones in Ruskington and Coningsby. Always ready in 15 minutes or so. Cash only though so looses a star for that

Normally go to the Chinese in Ruskington but they was busy so tried Golden Hay in Billinghay. Really nice food. Was surprised. Absolutely Loved the spring rolls

The food is brilliant can't beet it

Have tried them all and this is the best now. The food is very tasty and it is a big menu. My favourite is the Singapore Fried Rice and the Duck with Ginger and pineapple. They don't take cards,they don't have a website and they don't deliver and they can only deny both because it is still better to jump in your car in pajamas, drop in at the co-op to withdraw money and then go over there to get your takeaway- and order it when you are there and wait 10 minutes in the Ship In because you have recycled your last paper menu, than buy it online and have it delivered to your warm and cosy sofa by someone else.

So pleased when this takeaway opened up in the village. We order over the phone & pick it up. Great range of food & decently priced. Staff are friendly & polite.

I called for a collection and my order was wrong, somehow I knew it would be as the young girl on the phone kept repeating my order wrong, what I received was bland but I have ONE free dish tomorrow so we will see how that is.

Always had great service and good food whatever we’ve chosen. Plenty of choice, well cooked, good ingredients and nicely presented. Lovely atmosphere and very polite, friendly service. This is a take away but a good range of choice. Thanks all x

Great Chinese food large portions and reasonably priced

I was pleased to see it busy and full with people from all over the local area. The menu was extensive and full of favourites. I have used this take away for over 6 months and I am never disappointed.

All food was horrible. Spring rolls over cooked and barely to no filling. Soggy chilli beef, beef chew mein tasted like it had been sat for a few days. I ended up eating some cereal, VERY disappointed. Would not recommend at all.

Every thing was horrible,I eat most things,but was disgusting.prawn toast just tasted like grease,shredded beef was soggy,chow mien was greasy and had a weird taste and the sweet and sour chicken was more like just sour chicken.

I may be a little biased as it's my local but as far as I'm concerned this is the best Chinese takeaway around this area or for that matter anywhere else I've been. If you want to eat on a Friday or Saturday night order it at least an hour before you want it because they are always very busy. I think that tells you all you need to know....
