Ordered for collection and everything was ready at collection time. Delicious food. Mixed starter, prawn crackers, yung chow rice, chicken with ginger and pineapple, king prawn balls with sweet and sour sauce, mixed veg with crispy noodles. All piping hot. Will definitely visit again

We didn't order in advance, just walked in, ordered and waited. It was ready within a reasonable time and we all enjoyed our food. Good Chinese takeaway.

A huge disappointment, food almost inedible, only thing I ate was the fried rice, as ever, I always give an unbiased review of where I stay or where I eat, this was definitely the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had, maybe an off day but still not an excuse

Very tasty takeaway which was freshly cooked and was exceptionally good value. Second time we've been whilst holidaying in the area and enjoyed the takeaway both times.

I have no issue with the food from here, it was tasty and reasonably priced, but the wait was ridiculous. I went in at 7pm and placed an order of about £60. I was told one hour which wasn’t a problem. I paid and said I’d come back at 8pm to collect it. Which I did. Only it wasn’t even close to being ready. And I wasn’t the only person who this was happening to. Finally got our food at 8:40!! If it’s going to be that long just say so!

Well cooked tasty Chinese food at a good price. Best I have had for many years. Only downside they only take cash.

Poor Chinese I’d try somewhere else if I was in Amble again. Chicken satay on skewers tough, sweet and sour chicken small pieces of chicken and poor sauce not tasty at all

While on holiday we had the set meal for 3 , superb food, great quality and enormous portions, very prompt service, highly recommended.

I don’t know whether it’s company policy but the tubs of food I received were half full but at full prices. Knowing this I don’t know whether it would have been wise to pay double the price to actually have a full meal. And to top it off no free prawn crackers, no need for a return visit.

Four of us had a takeaway and we weren't disappointed. We were on holiday and looking for something quick after being out all day. The lady who took the order was very friendly over the phone. Told us how much it was and gave an estimated delivery time of 45ins. The meal arrived promptly and was lovely. The portions are large and the food was hot and delicious. I would certainly recommend if you're looking for a Chinese that delivers.

Fantastic Chinese takeaway! One of the beast I have ever had. Food was utterly delicious and perfect size portions and a really reasonable price. Shame we don’t live locally as would definitely be back. One down side was no free prawn crackers.

We ordered duck pancakes hoisin sauce, cucumber and spring onion, great price and really delicious. Also chicken Kung po is amazing. Thank you again for a great takeaway meal.

Portions are very small. Curry sauce has no flavor whatsoever. Chicken is quite dry & chewy. In general the food is nice though, just needs a little improvement. The shop is extremely dated and unwelcoming, but the staff are lovely.

In Amble on holiday. Chinese was just round the corner and had a menu in the house. Phoned up and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. Went to pick it up and it was ready. Food was very good. Vegetables were fresh and serving sizes were good too. We’re a family of 5 and would recommend this takeaway.

Writing this whilst all sat around table amazed at how poor this was. Chicken satay sweet and sour Hong Kong style. 3 rock hard chicken skewers tasteless with a tub virtually full of onions and a very weak satay sauce. Prawn crackers stale. Singapore style rice greasy and could hardly taste it. Wife said the curry sauce was not to bad so we did find one positive! Quite easily the worst Chinese takeaway we have ever had.

Highly recommend this takeaway. The food was fresh, hot & not at all greasy. The duck wraps were especially good. It’s true that we waited half an hour when we turned up to collect but were informed that they start cooking your meal when you arrive. So bear this in mind when ordering. Definitely worth a visit though.

Ordered a meal this evening at 5.30 to collect at 6.30... No excuse to be perfect.... We order a meal every week always receiving prawn crackers....none with this meal!!! The prawns as I thought were dry over cooked border line burnt and chewy!! My partner tasted them and said it was chicken really!!! The chips over cooked dry and cold!! Telephoning instantly I was told I had ordered chicken....no way Had I... and even if I had ...I was unable to eat it!! I asked to speak to the manage to complain I was told the manager did not visited the shop.... really!! No apology or refund!!! On collecting the meal my partner was in the shop with 3 customers with no face masks or self distancing!! With these uncertain times and a major pandemic is this acceptable!! Will definitely not be returning!!!

We couldn't get into any of the restaurants on our first night so we ordered a take away from Golden Harbour. It was simply fantastic. The best Chinese food we've ever had. Even my fussy 4 year old loved it. We had the family set meal and it was delicious. If you're stuck for what to have I can highly recommend this place.

Whilst waiting outside of the restaurant for my order along with a bunch of other patrons all trying to social distance and see through the window for when our orders would be ready (only 3 people allowed inside). I witnessed a delivery driver physically bump a customer out of the way using his white Vauxhall car d/t being too lazy to park further down the street. The customer had politely requested the car park further down the road first as everyone was trying to work together to social distance and see through the window for their orders. Absolutely unbelievable behaviour to then witness the driver physically strick, all be it slowly, the customer with his car to get him to move.

Rang for a take away, delighted to find them open. Ordered chicken curry, singapore chow mein and singapore fried rice. He went to collect but when the lass in the takeaway gave him the order he said they had got it wrong and I had ordered singapore vermicelli rather then chow mein. When he arrived home with the freshly cooked vermicelli I told him that in fact the original order was correct. We are really sorry for the confusion but what we got was awesome and thank you for such good customer service which to be frank he did not deserve. He will apologis in person when next in.

This is a decent Chinese takeaway. Food is very good and the range is pretty much as you'd expect. It is nothing unusual or special but is reliable and local to me. It is also handy if in a holiday cottage and you want a break from esting out or cooking.

Love the golden harbour for Chinese takeaway food in Amble so decided to order again last night. Phoned at 5.40 and asked if I could place an order for collection at 6.30. Not a problem was the response. I ordered 2 starters and 2 mains together with rice and noodles and went to collect it at 6.30. I went in and paid the girl and then waited and waited and waited and waited. Eventually got my food at 7pm. I heard the girl on the counter telling other people that there was a half hour wait so obviously me calling ahead made no difference. They had waited until I arrived at 6.30 and paid before they started to cook our meals. Luckily we weren’t in a taxi as there would have been a hefty taxi bill for a 30 minute wait. I really don’t see the point in pre ordering if the food is not going to be ready for collection at the time you arrange. Disappointed ☹️ Food was very tasty as usual but the wait marred our visit

Best Chinese! always lovely food delivery normally says 30 mins and is always faster. Best to ring and order before you collect so your not sitting waiting and it’s ready before you get there. (Y)

Tried to order food on Saturday night for collection but was told it would be 45 minutes to collect ! Ordered on Sunday night instead and this time they said it would be ready to collect in 15 minutes. I went there 15 minutes later but I still had to wait another 15 minutes for my food order. I’m sure they start cooking when you arrive to collect it as this is not the first time this has happened. Food was tasty though.

Not bad, decent food, decent price, good service. Dishes were pretty good, prepared quickly and accurately at a decent price. I was happy enough with it ad will probably use them again. One thing to note is that they don't accept card payment.

We hadn’t been for Take away for a while as last meals not been great . But thought we would give them a try . But sadly disappointed again . But it will be the last .The three dishes all small portions . But the main factor was a house special cantonese. Which when we opened the bag you could see it was watery . No thickness at all . So we phoned up and they expected us to travel back to them for them to see the dish Which wasn’t a suitable solution at all . Basically very poor food . It’s busy due to the fact there is no competition . Fingers crossed we get top quality take away in Amble . We have complained before about the food and they are very reluctant to resolve any issues

Phoned ahead and ordered the crispy shredded duck with pancakes. Picked it up and home . Beautiful. Loads of pancakes and sauce. Plenty cucumber and other veg. Succulent, tasty , crispy duck. One of the best I’ve ever had 👍

The large queues told us we had found the right place. Freshly cooked fish and chips. We went twice during our one week stay. Highly recommended

Hubby fancied a chicken curry so decided to return to this takeaway. He decided to order the Happy Meal which was £7 last time we visited - this time it was £8.50 a massive over 20% price increase. He enjoyed his chicken curry although a smaller portion than you get off the main menu, the hot and sour soup however whilst containing plenty of ingredients was tasteless - neither hot nor sour. The chips were not very hot and were decidedly limp. Prawn crackers were lovely. We will probably not bother again as you can get better locally and more reasonably priced.

At the time of our visit there were extensive rebuilding works in progress - the place will be substantially enlarged. Although we had booked a table the staff on duty denied all knowledge of it but fitted us in. Service was pretty average and the food adequate but nothing special. All in all not the special outing we had expected.

We had the crispy duck and pancakes starter which was very good then curry and chicken and cashews for mains which was also spot on. An excellent take away.

Excellent seaside favourite, well cooked and flavoursome. Chips and batter were perfect tasty and not too oily

Ordered 2 starters and 2 mains tonight including a side that wasn’t on the menu. The staff kindly agreed to cook the special for us which was fantastic. Reasonably priced and free prawn crackers. We will be back

Called for a takeaway, decided to have hot and sour soup - which was edible but strange (not what we were expecting). A chicken curry with fried rice - nice chicken in curry but a ridiculous amount of onions which ruined the dish. A portion of Singapore noodles, again nice meat and noodles but a distinct lack of flavour, there did not appear to be ny spicing in the dish other than three rings of green chilli - very disappointing.

We got our take away on Old Years Night. Good Value, decent size portions. As previous reviews, please, avoid the “Crispy Beef” it is soggy and tastes like bicycle inner tubes nuked. The rest of the food is great. Good Value.

Living in Amble I have ordered food from here for years. My last order really disappointed me. We did not receive all our order so we rang back to be told very rudely they sent all our food, no matter how much we explained they would not listen to a word we said. After baisically begging them for our full order the lady hung up the phone. Then we presume it was the delivery driver who rang back to see what was going on, after explaining what happened we got the rest of our food with an apology off the poor delivery driver. A few hours later I then received a sarcastic text off a member of staff, I will not be ordering from here again.

Great food and friendly service and staff they also do lunchtime specials, definitely worth a visit.

Ordered on Friday for 3 friends and myself. Great value at £30 for 4 of us. Very tasty, large portions with more than enough for all of us, piping hot and great friendly service. Will definitely order again.

Visited 22 oct 2018 and what a great meal i had would reccomend to anyone visiting amble. Will be returning very soon. Mr H.

Not normally one to give poor reviews but as a Chinese food fan this was not a great meal at all. We had Crispy Shredded Beef that I am not sure had any meat inside the chewy inedible offering in the sauce. The Lemon Chicken was over cooked to the point the chicken was horribly dry. My daughters Special Fried Rice with Sauce had a splatch of some non-descript black substance dried solid on top of the rice that had to be scraped off. Our ‘free’ prawn crackers were so stale they were chewy with no crisp.

On a weeks holiday here, had special with honey chilli sauce which is a favourite at home, this was even better! Had a portion of Singapore fried rice to share which was lovely, not greasy at all and mildly spiced. Husband had a duck dish which he really enjoyed too. Very quick to cook order and was still hot when I walked back to cottage in George Street, fab non greasy Prawn Crackers too, would definitely recommend

Called in to order special curry / beef & tomato and fried rice. Freshly cooked, great quality fantastic value. Proof as clean plates after wards. Would highly recommend.

One of our go to takeaways - a favourite for curry. The meal deal is good value - we usually have a soup and singapore noodles for just £7.

The food was very good for the price paid, the portions were also good sized! The food was perfectly cooked.

The food i had in January was a bit gloopy, not the best in flavours either, ribs were way too chewy also.

A good Chinese - not outstanding but defiantly good food and good value - sweet and sour excellent , great fried rice , prawn toast crispy and tasty - garlic chilli beef was over powering however and Singapore noodles disappointing

My sister and I had fish bites from here last week and they were truly amazing!!! Huge portion of five succulent pieces of fish in lovely crisp batter What could be better ??? Absolutely nothing !!! A must for anyone visiting the area :)

Having moved up here not long ago I thought I would give this place a try. Not bad, not bad at all. Ordered the house special chow mein. Very tasty and delivered very fast. Not a great lot of meat but for one was enough

Chinese was lovely, it wasn't greasy. I got the chicken fried rice....with curry and chips. It was extremely tasty and was reasonably priced....probably the better Chinese out of the two in Amble.

What can I say friendly staff quick service and great food also does a delivery service, living in a fishing community this is a welcome change from fish lol if you visit amble definitely worth a visit

Had a very nice take away from here tonight. Loads of prawns in my curry and the chicken with cashew was good too

Visitamos este llevar durante la estancia en deambula. Tienen un amplio menú y yo opté por las verduras en la opción chili. Cuando abrí la tapa estaba decepcionado por el hecho de que estaba lleno de agua con cebolla y castañas y poco más. Salsa era bastante agradable, pero era necesario para compensar la falta de cualquier otra cosa. Mi marido fue la carne de chile y dijo que este era muy sosa. Bastante cara para lo que era.

Una excelente comida para llevar china! ! Estupenda elección de los típicos alimentos de china, además de un montón de ofertas para elegir también tiene ofertas especiales en tiempo sábado almuerzo! ! ! Sin duda lo recomiendo! ! !

Pedimos un takaway, mi marido tuvo especial foo yung, no tenía nada de especial. La única carne de pollo, el huevo se veía gris y el sabor de las verduras se habían recalentado.

Fuimos a una fiesta sábado, así como es de esperarse, entre eso y la ubicación cerca del puerto en Amble, fue muy concurrido, con muchas tener pre-ordenados, así que había que esperar bastante para llevar a nuestra lista.

Excellent value happy meal £7 for choice of soup, main course and rice plus bag of prawn crackers. We had some Chinese starters which we had brought with us to the cottage so one meal was more than sufficient to share. We went and ordered the meal and popped round the corner to the Scooner for a swift half whilst it was being cooked and it was ready and waiting when we returned. Probably have had better Chinese meals over the years but was tasty enough and certainly value for money. Would consider ordering again when we next stay in Amble.

We ordered our food 8.45, they said it would 30-45 minutes. We rang after an hour and they said another 15 minutes! By the time the food arrived 1hour 45mins later it was cold with only a half a bag of chips also! We spoke to 2 different women who kept asking what the problem was, one of which said a new order would be out in 15 minutes. 40 minutes later, still no food! RANG AGAIN... nothing but attitude and demanded food back, even though it was all wrapped up and ready for collection again. All in all, 2 portions of noodles and 1 bag of chips took 3 hours, just over to be delivered. Absolutely shocking, and their attitude toward us was appalling. We will NOT order again.

Over the years this takeaway has been lovely and not so lovely and lovely again. I'm a local and at the moment the delivery times are ridiculous since its been took over. It's gone from being a half hour to 45 minute wait to an hour n a half wait. Collection is generally quicker at about a 20 minute time but busy nights your looking for an hour for collection. One of the slowest takeaways around at the moment. It does have lovely food and the staff are so friendly so if you aren't too fussed on getting your food quickly then order here. If you want it then and there maybe go to a different Chinese.

Had a take away from the golden harbour tonight. Great value and food very fresh and tasty. Best satay chicken I have had in a long time.

We got a takeaway from here which was a "happy meal", and it did in fact leave us feeling very happy. It was £7.00 per person and was a choice of any soup or spring roll, any main dish ( apart from duck dishes, European dishes or omelettes) with rice or chips and prawn crackers. There was plenty of trade which appeared to be locals, which is always a good sign.

We ordered by phone & our meal (for 9 people) was ready to collect 20 minutes later. Lovely food & lots of it!

Top draw take away, great food and fast service. They also deliver which is really handy. Don't be afraid of trying some hotter dishes as you can ask them to calm them down a bit.

This has new owners , and really have made a big difference , great tasting food maybe takes around an hour for your order but well worth the wait

A basic take away near the harbour under new ownership.The food has improved,home special fried rice,Thai red and green curries with pork are good and Singapore Vermicelli was enjoyable.For a starter,spicy crispy chicken is tasty.Service is quick and good,cash only.

Have used this place on various occasions and sometimes the meal is average and sometimes great...pity it cannot be consistent. I am not sure if it depends who is actually doing the cooking or if the produce they order. Used as a last resort now as found a better place.

Whilst on holiday in amble we had a takeaway from here. Best Chinese I've ever tasted!! Very quick delivery too. Really friendly on the phone when I ordered the delivery driver was lovely.

Little chinese man serving very rude and ignorent. Ordered salt and pepper chicken and basically told us off because apparently chilli chicken and salt and pepper chicken are the same. Foods cack anyways the one further up the street much friendler and nicer. Lost a good few customers there ya gonk.

Tried Golden Harbour for the first time tonight as it's the nearest to the caravan park we are staying in. Overall not too bad. Food was ok but not brilliant. Cantonese Chicken wasn't that spicy despite being advertised as such. It was ok but that's about it. Kids enjoyed their ribs and sesame prawn toast so good on that front. Ok for a one off

The staff were surly and unhelpful. The decor and cleanliness of the shop leaves a lot to be desired and the food was pretty awful. The Singapore fried rice had no chilli, the curry sauce had very little spice and the chicken in the fried rice was like eating rubber. We spent an uncomfortable night with indigestion, however the locals seemed to like it, so perhaps I'm being picky, but I will not be getting Chinese food from this shop again - I'd rather go hungry!!

Tried this as its near our caravan park. Curry sauce had hardly any taste and not spicy at all. Spicy beef in satay sauce was ok but the amount of oil floating about was awful. Egg fried rice and chicken chow mein were ok but sadly the meal was let down by the oil and the tasteless curry sauce. Won't return

This place is fab reasonably priced good food and the staff are really pleasant. Will be going again when we go back to Amble

4 of us Had meals on Saturday night 27/12/14 Considering the amount of food we had and the price of the meal .no one could grumble at the quality of it .

We tried this take away on Leazes St Amble yesterday. It was awful! The mixed starter spare ribs were all gristle with no edible meat, the spring rolls hard and chewy. The special fried rice was soggy, the sweet and sour chicken like small cannon balls and just as hard. The beef chow mein beef was hard and the whole dish tasteless. I telephoned to give feed back and he was not interested. A complete waste of £21 it all went in the bin.

I use these guys regularly and you can collect or they will deliver. Food comes jot an fresh. Highly recommended.

Free prawn crackers were a bonus, tasty food, good portion sizes, very quick service. Well priced too.

Always use this take away if it's a Chinese I fancy simply because the service is exceptional and the food just as good. Very rarely do you find any fat on the meat from here aswell

Best fish and chips in Amble, simple as that !!!!! I wouldn't go anywhere else !!! Fish is fresh, batter is to die for, very crispy and you get a good portion. Friendly staff, best all round fish shop !!!!

i find the takeaways from here are always lovely and arrive promptly.to be fair i usually have the same thing, deep fried crispy beef, chilli and salt or with satay sauce. i've had it from other places and its never the samecheers

Having read the visitors book at our holiday cottage in Walkworth we decided to have a Chinese takeaway from The Golden Harbour. What a mistake that was! The spare ribs were more like grisly chunks, the beef curry was tasteless and the sweet and sour chicken balls were soggy as was theSpring roll. The worst Chinese takeaway have ever had!

Fresh food cooked fresh. Freindly atmosphere. Prompt service. Food arrived quick, hot, tasty and plenty of it. Fully recommend to all. Any one with dietary requirements just ask and staff will help. Easy on the pocket too.

Always friendly & welcoming atmosphere when you walk in. Lovely, prompt service & wonderful, hot food no matter what we pick from the menu! Go as occasional treat every month or two and have never had a bad experience with them : )Thoroughly Recommend!
