I have been getting a take away for over 30 years from the Golden Flower, I always found the food to be exceptional. Over the last few months I have order a few take aways from here but the food has been nowhere near as good. Unfortunately I won’t be returning unless the dishes improve. Sorry

Average take out, never had curry on a set menu before.and it was awful, though the.dog enjoyed the meat Egg fried rice didn't have any.

Absolutely amazing! We got a takeaway while on a weekend break. I would genuinely travel the 45 minutes to get here from home, it is that nice.

Amazing Chinese food. Stay for Christmas with family members, order to get in shop, beautiful chicken curry, special chowmien in two containers, what a huge portion to put in one plate, plenty meat , vegetables , delicious. Can’t wait for next meal here. Have a nice Christmas Eve dinner. Highly recommend.

Ordered Christmas eve delivery 2 weeks ago to be delivered between 7 and 8 didn't receive food until 10pm felt sorry for the delivery lass as she was getting all the upset customers as the shop took the phone off the hook the shop had overbooked again and took too many orders happens every year avoid Christmas period is my advice

Wowza, this has gone back over, once owned by a school pal and by far the best Chinese in Ashington, we decided to have our pre Xmas treat tonight not knowing it had changed hands and by god you can tell, house special chow neon in 2 separate cartons, very salty and watery, spare ribs were ok only thing cooked correct were the prawn crackers, won’t return after being my local fir best part of 30 plus years!

This has to be far the worst Chinese I’ve ever had , house special chow mein in 2 separate cartons plain noodles in one and a watery chow mein in the other never had nowt like it . Salty and couldn’t even eat it

Ok This is my local Chinese, it was always, without exception, the best Chinese takeaway in the area, and believe me I’ve tried them all. BUT since the new people took over earlier this year something has gone wrong! The food is just not as tasty anymore, something is lacking now, and it’s just not the same. This is a real pity as the food here , like I say was always the very best. Please please can the old chef please come back and show the new guys has to cook the old way. I really hope so , 😢

Used to order here once a week for a family treat. Must have changed owners because they food is terrible now. Missing things from my order the last 3 weeks in a row and my usual order that was under £40 they wanted £59.70! Absolutely not paying that, will never order here again.

too long for delivery (I was told there would be a long wait but it was much much longer than informed) so I had to cancel I therefore can't comment on the food however the guy on the phone was actually really nice, polite and apologetic. Had a frozen pizza instead 🤣

Placed an order to pick up when I got there had to wait another 30 minutes.ordered a house special chow mein it was absolutely disgusting. The noodles were separate form the sauce and meat. The meat was slimey it was disgusting...terrible since they have changed hands never again. So sad when you look at reviews previous years were 5 star

This used to be one of the best in Ashington, Now it`s absolute garbage. The food was awful, My bill for my takeaway was nearly thirty pounds, and every pennyworth went in the bin, they even forgot to put a simple item like a bag of chips in. The man on the telephone could hardly speak English, and was argumentive and rude. So as you might gather, I won`t be using this " TAKE IT BACK CHINESE " anytime soon.

Absolutely amazing food, on holiday from Scotland and was my birthday so wanted a break from cooking! Had a chicken curry prawn curry and chicken balls, all absolutely delicious. Had a 15 min journey back to where we we’re staying and it was still piping hot! Highly recommend, just wish we had a Chinese near us of that quality!!

Rating is being some what nice... This place has gone downhill... I ordered house special fried rice and crispy wontons Wantons were overcooked and burnt rice wasn't fried and only had chicken and tinned ham.. cost 19 summit for nothing they've even changed their gravy only good thing that came was the prawn crackers, won't order again from here

Iv never had a bad thing to say about golden flower but tonight i got completely raw chicken in wontons me and my kids have are them so if we end up being ill we know why im actually seriously disgusted as i go all the time an it wasnt just one it was all

This takeaway is always busy, and if you taste their food you'll know why. They have never got an order wrong, and the food has always been ready for collection at the time stated. Beautiful food, and a good portion.

To be fair the Golden Flower in Ashington does exceed in its freshness… upon ordering King prawn in oyster sauce I wasn’t actually Informed on the call that the ‘restaurant’ actually sends a trawler at Newbiggin to pull his pots up for the prawns to be transported back to their kitchen to be fried. I wonder why the Golden Flower isn’t on Just Eat….🤣🤣🤣 Our food took over an hour and 45 minutes to arrive…

Unfortunately I love the food but that's the problem it seems that so do alot of ashington residents of you ring to order its average time of 2hrs if you go directly to shop it's not much better ive often have to go elsewhere as unable to wait(busy) to my disappointment its worth waiting

Above average Chinese takeaway. Quick to do the order and plenty of proper meat! Great stuff. Parking is a bit hard but I enjoyed all the food cheers.

Went here while staying on a local holiday park, twice. Food was beautiful. The bbq ribs are to die for ,plenty meat and the sauce was delicious. Ordered ribs, special chow mien, fried rice, soft noodles chips and a tub of curry. £23 so great price. Definitely one of the best we've ever had

Easily the best Chinese takeaway in the local area. They are very busy... All the time. Yes, you may have to wait, but it's worth waiting for. The sweet and sour chicken curry is quite simply the best meal I've had from any takeaway.

The first time I had this is was pretty good, But then I tried this on a night when it wasn't as busy thinking it would be the same if not better quality but unfortunately I was wrong, the food was cold and tasteless and the curry parcels tasted like stodgie samosas where as the week before they were delicious. I believe that your quality should stay the same always please look into this.

Worst curry i have ever had, greasy,burnt flavour, must have been cooked by a schoolchild, paid £9 had one mouthfull and disposed of in bin made me feel sick.

Food always cold when it delivered as driver always have his family in car i would like my food nice and fresh and hot not cold food wont be going for a while

Just had another gorgeous meal from The Golden Flower, best Chinese takeaway around!! The containers are full to bursting with flavoursome food, loads of meat & king prawns. Never ever had a bad meal and have been coming here for over 20 years. Scrumdiddlyumptious 😋

Best chinese take away in Northunberland bar none, Parking not the best, but Ive always managed, do yourself a favour, If you want Chinese Takeaway, This is it.

This take away has an excellent wide ranging menu, whatever choice you make the food is of an excellent quality. I particularly like that the meat is always pan fried before the sauce is added. If I have any criticism it is that this take away is so popular and therefore always busy so waiting times can be more than other places.

I used to get my Chinese from here all the time and got one today... Was really disappointed. I ordered lemon chicken, chicken and rice were great but the lemon sauce was basically watery sauce. Also expensive for what you get.

Cannot beat this takeaway. Always takes quite a while to get through on the phone but that’s because the food is amazing. The waiting time for collection or delivery isn’t ever too bad. Nicest takeaway in Ashington, and it also has really nice meat without any fat. Prices are also very reasonable for the portion sizes.

I always used to consider here as best Chinese in the area around Ashington, unfortunately the portion size has gone down considerably so don't think it is good value anymore I am sorry to say.

Visiting the area after leaving approx 15 years ago we decided to try the Golden Flower as this was our carry out of choice whilst we lived in the area. We we NOT disappointed. The food was superb. The cost we very reasonable. Due to its popularity the wait time was longer than anticipated however not an issue. Still the No1 Chinese takeaway in the area.

We came back to the Golden Flower while on a visit to the Ashington area. We left in 1986 and have had a few visits,We wanted a Chinese meal and despite all the Chinese takeaways in Ashington, we returned to the Golden Flower, unsure if the same person is serving from after all these years. The Chinese meal was better than ever, so we went back 2 nights later.I would recommend this popular take away for it’s excellent food and looking forward to returning on our next visit up north.Well Done! Without a doubt this is the best Chinese takeaway in Ashington. Food is always top notch, great quality, generous portions and amazing value. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The best Chinese in this area! Takes a lot of phone calls to ring an order in but just shows how popular this place is. The food here is delicious and i highly recomend .Lady on the desk is lovley.

Call it in early as this place is jumping! Personally I’ve seen the chef on and he cares! Tommy shek he’s the man quality at your feet! Unsure “ ? start with the bbq munchie box! Then on your return anything of your choice you won’t be let down! I promise!

So I here this is the best take away in this area so me and my family decided to order from them, took an hour for to get in touch with them and then when I did get through they put me on hold which is far enough as they will be very busy but had me waiting on the phone for 15 minutes before I even told them what I want and when they finally come back to the phone they put the phone down as if they was no one waiting to order so I phone up again which took a long time didn't get apologies very stubborn towards me... food came over 2 hours late.. it was cold and my order wasn't correct, asked for chicken and I got prawns I'm allergic to them disgusted never again

I've tried nearly all the Chinese takeaways in town now and this has got to be the best. I prefer more of the spicy dishes while the other half is more plain and we've never had a complaint.

Every Saturday we order. And we have to order by 5,45 as it's just so busy to get it delivered within an hour. Does that not say it all. The phone never stops too. Never had a bad meal yet. Very tasty also children meals are available too.

I've been going here for years, the food is beautiful although sometimes quite oily. The only other thing that lets this takeaway down is there terrible service. The lady is rude & abrupt, I'm unsurprised they've lost costume due to it.

The standard never varies from excellent, and the flavours are out of this world,and if you would like your curry hot then this is the place for you as well. I've used the Golden Flower chinese takeaway on several occasions and they have been thoroughly consistent throughout. Accordingly these comments could apply to any and all visits.Having tried several dishes I can say that the food is always of a decent standard. The ingredients are invariably fresh, the sauces are individually indentifiable and not once have we had cause for complaint, save for perhaps a little meanness on occasion (although it could just as easily be that other takeaways are excessively generous in their portions). In terms of food, it's one of the better chinese takeaways in the area.By stark contrast, the service is dire. Always ranging somewhere between curt and offensive, the lack of customer service can be pretty disgusting. There has occasionally been a young man behind the desk who is better, if still far from exemplary, but much more commonly this wooden bastion is occupied by a woman with the welcoming charm of a constipated pitbull. At best her demeanour is surly, more often it's aggressively rude. When last I ordered a meal, this adorable creature answered the phone with a surprising "What ...?" before "uh huh"ing her way through my order. I thought I was making progress, working my way from hostile and blunt to blase and disinterested, but when she snarled a time and promptly hung-up, I realised hope was forlorn. The food was nice though, but the experience as a whole does leave a bitter taste ...... a shame ...

Spent 15 pound and the food was too dry and disgusting will not be going back to the golden flower Chinese!
