The best Fish & Chips around! We have been buying from Golden Fry since we moved to Bodmin 39 years ago and like a fine wine, they get better with age!! We had the Hake for dinner this evening and as always, was delicious! Excellent chips, mushy peas and service! Thanks Team Golden Fry! 👏👌😋

Wanted a option for lunch when we were at Bodmin and wanted something cooked and not chilled in the fridge Google suggested this place and we drove at 12 which is when it suggested it would open. Initially we couldn’t find this place as we were looking for a take away restaurant with bricks and mortars. This is a van shop It is located inside some property which has a gate and we saw a queue of cars waiting outside this gate and we joined the queue We got let in and there are two people serving I ordered just chips and asked for mayonnaise which I had to pay I think 65p I asked for a receipt and the person was bit hesitant but did give me. The food tasted nice, freshly made The place is busy as there were plenty of cars After buying the food you need to drive somewhere and then eat it which we did I would say the prices are reasonable taste is very nice the staff are really friendly and worth more than a two visits

Excellent food, very reasonably priced, lovely staff.

After being a customer for 20 years i now find I am no longer wanted. The gateway into the drive through yard is so narrow that my small campervan wont get in. Only small cars can get in. I can get through the drive through at mcd down the road. Owners are not interested. Very disappointed. Have to go to Bell Lane now.

It was alright. Nothing wrong with it but wasn’t the best. We had the large haddock, wouldn’t describe it as large but guess they have little control over that. Light, moist fish which was good. Soggy batter, too oily. Crispy chips, but not extremely tasty. was just okay, wouldn’t rush back but would go to if I was hungry and looking for convenience. Filled a hole and meant I didn’t have to cook dinner, that’s about all I can say.

£9.90 for that what a rip off do you enjoy mugging your customer's off

Very good service, and lovely food.

The cod that we had from Golden Fry was one of the best that I have ever had if not the best. Cooked well, the batter was crisp, the cod was light perfectly cooked and no trace of any bones. Wonderful meal. The curry sauce was great and mushy peas went down a treat. Personally I would have liked the chips cooked slightly more but that is personal preference. They were still good. Was a truly enjoyable meal and love how the shop is now in a mobile lorry. Very clever how the owners dealt with the restrictions from Covid and provide a drive through fish and chips Service.

Came across the Golden Fryer by chance as we'd missed the services turn off. So glad we stopped best fish and chips I've had in a long time!!!!!

Sorry, Golden Fry, and maybe I just got you on a bad day, but your chips and mushy peas were the worst that I have ever eaten, and I have eaten alot (it's all I ever used to eat growing up). Not only are you a truck stop, not a shop, but the chips tasted like the oil had long gone past it's burn point and the mushy peas had NO taste ie no salt or anything. I'm from up North, the home of fish and chips, so I know what's good and what isn't. I literally had to hit the bi-carb to get rid of the indigestion! (I ate them as I was hungry and nothing else was open, except KFC and McD, wish I'd gone there). My advise, clean the oil regularly, use sunflower oil, fry the chips separate from the fish and sausages etc, and use salt when soaking your peas - yes soak them, not buy and serve out of a tin.

Cracks me up because the posters on the gate saying you are closes for the week would have taken more effort then logging into your account and updating it.

First time having fish and chips from Golden Fry and it was absolutely delicious! The fish was so soft and fresh… the chips and curry sauce were yummy. The best fish and chips I have ever had! Looking forward to going back 😊

Honestly the best Fish and chips I've ever had! Just a shame I have to travel 200 miles from Berkshire to get it.

It helps that the best chippy in the area is also the nearest. But like others have said, we would drive many miles for these guys. Indeed our son and his family live in Ashwater, near Holsworthy, and love it when they come to ours, and we have fish and chips for supper.

After being very disappointed with my meal in Looe recently, this has restored my faith. Fresh, flakey cod in crispy batter, proper chips in a Covid safe environment. Highly recommended and I'll definitely return.

Lovely soft fish, batter really crunchy. Chips also delicious. Portions are a good size and prices very reasonable. We really liked the drive thru concept and thought it worked really well.

Been to Cornwall before. Had the best fish and chips from here. Friendly Service, reasonable price and specials. Here again 11/6/21 Friday evening and 3 rows of queues in the car park area. Thank you for a great meal.has one can in week and 2 vans Friday and Saturday.to meet demand.

Brilliant system in place, would be good to add another gate just for exit, but it's perfect otherwise. 2 vans from Tues till Friday meant we queued for 3 mins food took 5 if that. Wonderful gentleman at the gate let the van know in advance what we were ordering. Food was delicious and hot when we arrived home. Will order again! Crispy batter, flaky fish and handsome battered sausage.

First visit after hearing so much about this place , Brilliant chips , lovely crunchy batter on the sausages . Friendly staff and kind and caring comments written on the take away boxes . What more could you ask for 5 out of 5 . Will definitely visit again .

What can I say? I love the Golden Fry! The quality of the food is brilliant. By far the best Fish and Chips that I have had in Cornwall and that is including other Fancy places that have amazing reviews here in the Duchy. (This is the reason that I keep going back and sadly for other places don't really look forward to chips anywhere else...) The staff are friendly and very efficient. The work that they have done during Lockdown has been great and allows you to feel safe when going out to collect food. It is always well organised and the wait is always shorter that you think that it will be given the number of people that also love the place. I couldn't think of anything that I would rather have had for my birthday meal on Monday - in terms of value for money, quantity and taste I don't reckon that you can beat it! Thanks very much.

The best fish! Sadly I've moved away from the area and it's getting tricky to find excuses to get down to Bodmin. Easily the best in the area, currently doing a drive-thru which works perfectly.

Golden fry has some vans setup on a bit of land, which took me by surprise to begin with. Meant the social distancing worked, they had an attendant managing traffic and it worked like a drive through. Fish and chips was decent quality at a reasonable price. Not disappointed.

Have lived in north Cornwall for three years and tried many take outs and dine ins mostly excellent but our meal from the Golden fry was SUPERB best batter we have ever had super crispy and delicious not to be missed and highly recommend.

Gerald from Golden Fry supplied the fish and chip supper for my daughters wedding, on the bank holiday weekend. Mobile van and the best fish and chips ever. Guests were very happy as was my daughter. Good service, very organised and reasonable cost for 100 guests. Booked him last May and communication was good. Would recommend and definitely use again. Brilliant. This is my favorite Fish & Chip shop in Bodmin and have eaten at or from Golden Fry for nearly 50 years. In recent years their site down eat in with waitress service has gone. Still very good fish & chips. I recommend them as well as the other good Fish & Chip shops in Bodmin.
