Golden Dynasty in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Just dished up our take away. The sweet and sour prawns look like they were cooked yesterday. Taste like it too. We have been having take away from here for years but today, it just didn’t make the mark. The BBQ ribs were very dry and the food wasn’t worth the £40 odd spent. Very disappointing

Won’t be going back here, chow mien was noodles a peas and half a dozen bit of meat. The onion rings were not cooked fresh and soggy.

Good old fashioned Chinese takeaway. Reasonable priced and good choice of dishes. We had a takeout for six people and found all the dishes tasty and the pancake rolls particularly good.

Ok so this is the third chance I have given the Golden Dynasty since changing ownership and this really is the last time. Food was tasteless, Luke warm, greasy and just really poor quality. I tried to call back to complain but the telephone line was so bad I couldn't be bothered to call back, I can't see what difference it will make anyway. I'm sure the drop in custom will make the owners evaluate their service.

New owners have taken over. We are local and get it delivered. Tried x4 now and each time is very disappointing. Why - Tastless... no extra spice when specifically asked for. Today... as always asked for an extra spicy hot beef curry ... got chicken which didn't even taste like curry. Srucen up Golden dynasty. This will be my last visit.

Took 1 and a half hour to get here said "45 mins" . Cold and greasy. Never again . Rang them and they said it was coming back from bodmin lol

We have had a few meals from here recently and the food has been consistently good quality. The vegetables always taste fresh. I had prawns last time that were cooked perfectly. My partner had beef that was delicious and tender. My children enjoyed the chicken balls, egg fried rice and prawn crackers. We also had salt and pepper chips which were tasty but a little too salty for me- I don't usually eat salty food so maybe that was just me! All in all, fantastic food that is a lot better than it used to be with friendly staff.

Deeply disappointing, the vegetarian tofu was rubbery and over fried, the sauce far to salty & lacked vegetables. The vegetable egg fried rice seemingly had little to no egg or vegetables. The vegetable chow mien was salty, stodgy and over cooked. The spring rolls look like they we purchased at a cheap supermarket. I would give this place a zero. Absolutely disgusting. I am surprised they still operate. Stay away, greasy, salty and foul.

Had the special sliced chicken and pork on rice with sauce. Never had chicken with the same texture as a crab stick before. I think they boiled all the flavour out of something that was supposed to have been roasted. Rice was bland along with the sauce. Truly disappointing.

Ordered chicken balls,chicken chow main and beef with onions. The beef and onions was unedible and trestles of plastic. The chow main had next to no flavour. The chicken balls,although edible ,tasted nothing like they used to. Chucked the who,e takeaway in the bin and will not be ordering from there again.

I ordered salt and pepper chicken, sesame prawn toast and crispy wontons, along with some satay sauce. Tonight was actually my very first time having a couple of these dishes. And I have to say I was not disappointed! Never be put off by poor reviews until you have at least tried this takeaway for yourself While the chicken itself was not the spicy part, but whatever was on the onions and peppers in the dish was, it was not a potent spice, but just right. And while the satay sauce, which i had poured over the chicken was really quite flavourful, it didn't overpower the flavours of the S/7P chicken, thankfully Staff are often very nice and welcoming.

Very fresh and tasty. Basic Chinese, big portions, much enjoyed. Sweet and sour pork, spicy singapore chow mein, egg fried rice...really good. Would return.

Spicy fried rice is to die for, so tasty. Always make a point of ordering from Golden Dynasty when visiting Lostwithel.

Was really craving a chicken curry and the golden dynasty really hit the spot. Lovely curry , egg fried rice and a pancake roll. Just the ticket after a few beers👍

Not going to lie, I was put off by the poor reviews but it was the only Chinese that delivered to us so thought we’d give it a go. This was one of the tastiest Chinese takeaways I’ve had in a while. Only slight gripe is no prawns in the mixed meat/special curry….Will definitely use again when back in the area.

Probably the poorest quality Chinese food I’ve ever had. Mixed starter is pure grease. 1/4 duck is burnt.

Tried this while on a short break in Lostwithiel. Very good Chinese with generous portions, pancake roll, chicken balls and chow mien were great!

We came across this takeaway whilst staying nearby in Golant. Doesn't look much from the outside but believe me the food was delicious. Trust me when I say as does a previous review that the pancake rolls were the best we have ever had. Great value for money too.

We ordered the Chinese banquet for 2, at a cost of about £25. no soup but that is great for us as it came with crispy duck and pancakes....i don't think i have every had a nicer crispy duck. overall food was delicious and service ....spot on!

Lovely Chinese takeaway. We ordered whilst on holiday and we were not disappointed, huge portions or flavourful Chinese food!! The chow mein was the best We’ve ever had!!

Food was quick, delicious and decent portion sizes all at a reasonable price. Can't ask for more. The guy on the phone / front desk is also a pleasant chap.

a delightful takeaway, quick food and the tofu was brilliant and homemade. in particular i absolutely loved the noodles. lovely vegetarian and when i asked for more spice, the chef sweetly made a handmade spicy sauce which phenomenal for my spicy taste

Stayed in Lostwithiel recently and fancied Chinese food, ordered from Golden Dynasty over the phone for delivery on a Saturday evening.I was told that it would be with me in 30mins. Exactly 30mins later food arrived and it was piping hot.This was probably one of the best Chinese meals I’ve had from a take away. I only wish it was close to my home or maybe I’ll just move to Cornwall.

Everything we had here was delicious. We had takeaways during Covid. The extra large spring rolls are highly recommended - ask for them, I didn't see them listed on the menu.

Terrible food nothing special about Special fried at all completely tasteless. Chicken balls were dry and the batter was disgusting. Would honestly suggested you don’t order from here you will only be disappointed and waste your money

We ordered our first take away from The Golden Dynasty for delivery. Food was delicious, hot and delivered was within 45 minutes of ordering. Can’t fault it!

The Golden Dynasty is the best Chinese takeaway around, we have four Chinese takeaway’s closer to our home than this one...but it is DEFINATELY worth the extra travel. Complements to the Chef/Chefs! Keep up the great work!

This food is the best u can get. Not a lot of other takeaways can produce this insanely good product. Highly reccomend this takeaway.

The food here is delicious, Im very particular (obsessive ! ) about food.. Its cooked really well, the ingredients are fresh and tasty. I have tried a lot of things on the menu, so its really difficult to pinpoint my favouite dish. I have recommended this takeway to all my friends and family and they all agree... None of us have a complaint about the food... Oh and the staff are friendly, and waiting time for the meals to be cooked is at a minimum.. Best Takeaway in Cornwall... !!! Fully recommend

We decided whilst we sat outside on the terrace listening to the music on a Thursday night in Lostwithiel we’d have a takeout - Chinese it was then! Phoned order through, arrived within about 15 minutes by friendly delivery driver.Food didn’t disappoint, chicken curry & rice was lovely as was the spring rolls & prawn crackers. Definitely worth a visit if you looking for a decent takeaway.

Very tasty & well priced. Although it states delivery they didnt know where we were so we went to collect. Was 9 miles out but the food was still hot when we got back. Only downside they dont take cards, its cash only

The food I order from this place isn't always the best,but its not the worst eithe. I suppose it depends on who is making it. The last 3 or 4 times I have ordered a chinese pancake roll, it has been greasy, soggy and bland, bulked up with beansprouts and not enough beef or other of the things in it. Only once or twice I have had a decent chinese pancake roll from here. I would like my pancake rolls to be crispy and not greasy or falling apart

There are a lot nice staff and lots of nice food. The foods quality is top and cant get any better. The person on the counter is such a nice person and is very helpful.

A final chance was given to our most local Chinese having gone elsewhere for the last six months. The order was poor to say the least, some bone cold, some missing and the rice burnt. Great for them they are so busy, but really try and focus on quality not quantity. St Blazey it is!

This place never lets me down! I live half hour away and the food is still so hot. And absolutely delicious. Can’t praise them enough. Thsnkyou

We place our orders over the phone and its such an easy option with a very pleasant attitude sadly missing in many places these day.

Tired after 6hrs driving, decided to get a chinese takeaway rather than get in the car again to try to find somewhere to eat. Found a menu, ordered for home delivery, plates in the oven and literally about 15minutes later, it arrived. Piping hot, very tasty, free prawn crackers and just what we needed.

The meal was ordered by phone and at the agreed time it was ready.

Sadly really disappointed with the food. After reading the reviews we thought this would be good..... very wrong. The sweet & sour, chilli beef & ribs ALL had the same sauce, the rice looked like it was a week old & they forgot the chow mein.

We only ate here once but we were really looking forward to it and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. Service was really quick and the menu catered for most tastes. Would definitely eat from there again

The food was cooked to order and although it was a busy evening only took 20 mins. As a party we spent £100 for the 10 of us on a variety of dishes which were all tasty and contained slot of meat/prawns. The portions were huge which was great for 6 teenagers!

We ordered several takeaway dishes to share at home (Duck, pork, chow mein noodles, tofu with veg) and they were all disappointing: bulked out with bean sprouts, and drowning in bland sauces. I won’t return.

Nice little takeaway, freshly prepared and reasonably priced. Seemed very busy when we went at 6pm on a Wednesday evening.

This amazing takeaway impressed me because I have been to lots of excellent takeaway but this is the one I would recommend you to go. The staff helped me choose a vegan dish for my vegan friend and confirmed it with the chef which was also very kind.

Wonderful food west of China. To be bettered by any including those in Chinatown London (some of which are superb).

We have been regular customers for years , and we have never had a bad meal. We have tried other restaurants when this one is closed, and they do not match the quality of this takeaway.. we feel we have taken them for granted , as tonight (because you were closed ) we have just had the worst chinese meal from nearby. So we feel we need to praise you up big time...and can't wait for you to reopen !!!! your bbq ribs are the best !!!!

We were staying at the Best Western hotel in town last weekend and decided we didn't want to eat out so we called in here for a takeaway.

Only a takeaway but a darn good one. Every meal we had was excellent, the volumes generous and the price was very reasonable. We're from Bristol and I have yet to find a chinese takeaway as good as this one there. Also the front of house were very friendly and were highly efficient - well done!

My local Chinese but I wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is better then any other Chinese I have tried. Always cooked fresh and always is delicious. I have never had a bad meal! The staff are always lovely and helpful.

Should have been a lot better. I know it's just a local takeaway but that's no excuse for poor quality ingredients. The chicken I had was just so watery it wasn't even edible. Shame as rest of the meal was tasty enough.

Pato gambas tostadas crujientes y encantador, y de fácil acceso. Personal amable, sin duda, conseguir una de allí.

Visited twice during our 7 night stay in Lostwithiel - food was very good and reasonably priced both times. Well worth a visit.

Good start with barbecue ribs, then onto the mains. Chicken in black bean sauce was rubbery as was the beef and mushroom sauce dish I ordered (more mushroom than beef). Noodles were just awful. Never tasted anything so bad. Sorry, but had such good hopes but won't be returning. For the price it was disappointing.

Set meal for 4. We asked to change the fritters for prawn crackers which they were happy to do. There was more than enough, almost too much of the crispy duck pancake ingredients! Exceptionally good, not GM rich or gloopy, best Chinese we've all had in a long time.

We ordered a range of 6 or 7 dishes (we were hungry!) And none of them disappointed!! And even better there was some left for breakfast ! Great Chinese food and consistently good

Lovely food,I had Duck with bean-shoots,generous helping of duck and the sauce was delicious.Best pancake roll I have tasted and plenty of meat and shrimps.I have paid ten times as much for Chinese meals in Chinatown but none come close to this.

Great take away, lots of choice, excellent local delivery service. Love the mixed vegetable fried rice, very tasty.

great local chinese selling the usual chinese faye as well as some special dishes, my particular favourites are beef chow mein, oodddles of beef and hong kong sweet and sour chicken, another fave are the house specials in particular the house special noodles. Very large portions so share a few dishes between you. Very moderately priced, twodishes to share about a tenner and loads too much. Like i said, a traditional english chinese - yum, would reccomend for a midweek treat or fri night in front of the telly

First of all the food was cold, it was delivered and I only live a three minute drive away (at most) from the takeaway. We ordered for a family Birthday treat, the meat dishes were gloopy and tasteless, apart from salt and MSG, the beef was tough as leather and the duck was 80% fat, which was disgusting and slimy. Prawns in batter were so greasy they were inedible, one of the most unpleasant meals that I have had the misfortune of spending £50.00 on. We phoned to express our disgust at the quality of the meal, went to answerphone, and if they did bother to pick up the message they never had the decency to respond and enquire why we were not happy. This is the second time we have had poor service from this place, wish I had followed my own advice last time not to use again, but as time passed thought we would give them a second chance.The only reason this place survives is because it is the only Chinese takeaway within five miles of the town, that being said I would rather walk to the next closest takeaway than ever spend another penny in this place; I can only assume that those people who gave good reviews, have no taste buds, have never tasted truly authentic Asian cuisine or have ever had a really decent Chinese Takeaway to compare this travesty of a restaurant to.Use at your own peril, terrible service, terrible food.

One of our locals! Fantastic take-away. Always very friendly and the food is very fast, super tasty, and piping hot. So many lovely choices - the duck is particularly good here and not too fatty or gristly as many duck dishes are at chinese restaurants. Really like the crispy shredded chicken dishes too. Highly recommend!

Stayed in Lostwithiel for a week and used this takeaway twice. Typical Chinese Takeaway menu. On the first visit I ordered five main meals and one soup. When the order arrived I was informed there was one extra meal included. All of the food was of good quality, very tasty and good sized portions. The extra meal was chicken and pineapple. The second visit was for fewer meals but the quality was the same.As with most Chinese Takeaways they do take phone orders and will deliver.Please be aware they do not take payment by card. CASH ONLY.

We ordered from here on the first night of our holiday, we went in, sat down and looked at the menu, i can't recall if we were greeted at any point. Once we decided on what we were having we started ordering, it soon came apparent that the man taking the order wasn't sure about what kind of sweet and sour they could do and had to ask someone else. It didn't take to long for our order, but we were given it in a box instead of bags, which would have been so much easier, needless to say my arms ached after carrying it home. We were given an extra meal, maybe because our order was quite large, being for 6 people. The hot and sour soup was ok, but was to thick and gluggy for my liking, although my father enjoyed it. Everyone enjoyed their food apart from me, i had the pork chow mein and it just lacked flavour, it was just bland. I did help myself to some of the extra meal, which i think was chicken and pineappple, and that was lovely.My family must have enjoyed it as they ordered from it again on the 2nd from last day of our holiday and again enjoyed it. I wasn't feeling to well that night so didn't order.

Went in and spent £46.00 on our takeaway. Crispy chili beef, crispy chili chicken, chicken with lemon sauce and two other Duck dishes. The crispy chicken and beef were swimming in a sauce with loads of veg and a VERY small amount of meat. The chicken in lemon looked the same as the crispy dishes and there was hardly any duck in the duck dishes. Will NEVER go back again even if offered a free meal!!!

I turned up to order and takeaway on spec. Kung Po Chicken excellent. All cooked in 20 min. Fresh ingredients. Really tasty.

All food cooked using fresh ingredients. The meat was substantial and tasty. They use freshly cut pineapple chunks. Very good value and very tasty. One of the best I have ever experienced. Thank you Golden Dynasty!

Th dishes are always freshly prepared. You can see into the kitchen where they prepare food. It is always clean and tidy. The staff are always happy to help.

Service is excellent, food is amazing. 100% our new favourite takeaway. Portion sizes are good, the price is a little higher than usual takeaways but the quantity and quality makes it worth it.

The duck was excellently crispy, the pancakes were perfectly dusted and the cucumber was juicy and naked. Overall I had a delightful experience creating splendiferous duck pancakes. Di says it was salty. Egg fried rice was bang tidy. Tofu was too large and just not up to the standard of the sixth best restaurant in the city. Positive, rice a plenty. Big Tone and Di and the girls (H&M). Laterz.

We have now had two meals from here and cannot praise it highly enough. The food looks and tastes as though it was prepared with care. Only drawback they don't accept credit cards so you can get caught out but other than that, a lovely eaterie.

The owner was very helpful - when he realised he had no tofu, he offered to make a vegetarian omlette.

My family smuggled our Chinese into our hotel room when we were on holiday in Lostwithiel. It was really lovely. My dad asked for extra spice, which he got and just the right amount (the man who took the order advised him not to have it too spicy as it would compromise the taste). We got the mixed starter, which came with two substantial and tasty dipping sauces and there was really good variety and amount for everyone. I got special chow mein and was delighted with how chunky the meat was, lovely big pieces of chicken that I've never had in a Chinese before. The staff were really friendly. A previous reviewer said that they got crispy chili beef but that it wasn't crispy at all and they were disappointed, but when we visited there was no crispy shredded beef on the menu, only shredded beef, so I think that's why they were disappointed, they thought it should have been crispy.

Sadly as with most takeaways around this area including Liskeard it's not good. I think the mentality of most (not all) takeaways around Here is that there's no where else to go so they don't even need to try. I apparently had shredded "CRISPY" chilly beef. iv no idea what they think crispy is but my food came as a sloppy goop surrounding what I hope was beef.it's insulting to think that they are happy to take money off people for food like this.

The Golden Dynasty is a small run Takeaway, if you visit Lostwithiel in Cornwall or any surrounding area to it, this food is worth the drive, were lucky enough to live here in the town and experience it as regular as possible, a taste of Chinese like no other, the food is a high quality which keeps us returning time and time again, go on, treat your self, like they say "Its all in the Taste"

Good local Chinese, huge portions - seriously. Not too salty, lots of choice, not as expensive as most places in Cornwall seem to be (however friendly they all are!) Top drawer! Oh, and this is just a takeaway, not sure why it is listed as a restaurant?

Don't miss this if you like Chinese food. Very full menu so plenty of choice, will deliver locally (we had a very speedy delivery) and great value too.

Whist on holiday near Looe, we was driving back from a evening out at St Austell and called in to the Golden Dynasty Take away. The staff was very friendly and had time to have a chat. I ordered the set meal for 2 and when we got back to our holiday accomadation tucked in to a lovely meal. Would really recommend this place.

When I visit Cornwall I often have a Take Away and you cannot fault this one both for value and quality of food Potions are huge..

I've had takeaway from here lots of times and the food is always amazing. The ingredients always taste fresh, the portions are huge and it's good value for money. The chicken balls are the best!Also delivery is quick, cheap and friendly.

We used the takeaway side of the business. The food was delicious, good quality food used in the dishes, a good potion size. The duck and pancakes was fabulous. We had seven different main dishes and they were all really good.

Good food ideal, friend service always happy to help ..the best food when you have a hangover or if you can't be asked to cook ,, brilliant !
