Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurand & Take Away in Scarborough

I ordered a take out last night. It was very bad .I ordered chicken and in no way had my meal have any chicken in it .what ever it was I don't know .it didn't look like chicken and it didn't taste like chicken so I carnt say what the white horrible lumps were .I will never have another meal again.My girlfriends meal was bland and very salty and burnt in old oil. Is it so hard these days to get a decent meal. Total waste of £20.00You have been warned. Good luck.

The restaurant wasn't open due to Covid restrictions. So we ( 5 adults) ordered an early evening takeaway to be delivered to the Primrose Valley Caravan site. We all ordered different meals. The time from ordering to delivery was reasonable. They rang when the driver was 5 mins away and we met him at the site entrance. The great thing about the food is the quality and portion size. They are both excellent. It was also very hot.... I joked that he must have had an oven in the car. Will definitely return.

Read the reviews and thought would give it a go We ordered the set meal for three and I can honestly say the chicken balls and the chicken in the curry was so nice , however the chicken in the satay and Cantonese was so sloppy , it’s a shame as the sauce was gorgeous x They delivered to Blue dolphin where we were staying If the chicken was same in dishes that was in the chicken curry it would have been 5 points score

Visiting Filey, I googled the best Chinese takeaways and this one came up. Ordered chicken curry, rice, chips and prawn crackers. Meal was ready in the time specified and the food was delicious. Chips were like chip shop ones - very nice! No complaints would definitely use again.

During these trying times when you can’t dine out, it’s still nice to have a carry out and let somebody else do the cooking!We normally go to another Chinese takeaway in Filey, but on this occasion decided to try Golden Dragon, and we were so glad we did.An extremely vast menu, offering the usual fayre. Duck in hot chilli sauce, and King Prawn fried rice , both well cooked, and what made a pleasant change was the fact that the rice was white! I still don’t understand why the majority of Chinese takeaways like presenting you with rice that looks like they’ve dropped the bottle of soy sauce in it!It was also a nice touch to be given some free chicken wings, which might I add were outstanding.

We ordered a delivery to the Blue Dolphin Caravan Park - we ordered here because we saw that somebody else had had one delivered to the park a few nights previous so gave it a try. Wow! I'm so glad we did, we ordered the set menu for 2 and it was incredibly good value for £18. We had two portions of rice, 2 main beef dishes, pork ribs, spring rolls and prawn crackers. The food was absolutely lovely and by far the best Chinese we have ever had! Gutted we live over 4 hours away!! If you're in the area, give this place a go - absolutely fantastic!

We ordered a meal last night. I'm always sceptical when ordering from somewhere new but this place is a gem. Order process simple told the time frame and that the driver would ring to say when he would be at the reception. We have never had a takeaway delivered to a caravan before, I'm so impressed we will be using them again before we go home.. Quality of the food was amazing.

This place just doesn't disappoint - I am hoping it opens again as a restaurant as we had great meals there ALWAYS... in the meantime we're making do with takeaways (which are amazing) food is always fresh, tasty and hot - we are on PV and the drivers are always on time!BIG recommendation for the dick in plum sauce and the Singapore rice (oh and the chicken cow mwin that my DS LOVES!!!!)Thank you Golden Dragon xx

Walking upto the entrance you would think it was just a average Chinese restaurant, how wrong , the food is exceptional, a small friendly staff serve you always with a smile , surprisingly for a Chinese a great wine menu , It’s our must go to place in Filey

Whilst staying at Primrose valley close by we decided to have a Chinese takeaway, read the past reviews so we through we’d give the Golden Dragon a try and it was a choice well made it’s possibly the best Chinese takeaway food we’ve had in years the food was quality and lots of it, I recommend you try the large spring roll and the house special chow mien (Dry) best I’ve ever had, sadly back home now but if we are back in the Filey are in the future we will definitely be visiting the Golden Dragon again, keep up the good work

First time we have visited due to staying local. Great service, very quick with food and the best Chinese takeaway either of us had for ages! Port curry was massive with lots of meat and my fried chicken in plum sauce was amazing!! Well worth a visit

Staying in primrose valley park and decided to get a take away as the restaurants are not known for fantastic food at the camp. Ordered and deliver very quickly . Was really pleased with the large portions, piping hot and very tasty. And very reasonable prices. Really enjoyed.

Ordered for collection here just over a week ago. Went in to collect it ready and waiting at the time they said. It was nice and hot. Great portion size, plenty of meat in the dishes and all really good quality. Have some nice dishes on the menu. Will definitely go back.

Took at least 2 hours to come chicken was chewy and slimy. No seasoning what's so ever absolutely vile.

Fantastic value freshly cooked food plenty of it. we had a meal for 4 between 5 and nobody went hungry

Had one of my staples - special curry, chips and an order of bean sprouts. My son had the chicken in OK Sauce.One disappointment is they accept only cash- they need to move with the times in that regard.Food was lovely though. My son liked his and I’d say the curry is outstanding. The meat - beef, prawn, pork, chicken was all exceptionally tender. The curry sauce was delicious. One suggestion is slightly more meat but that’s nitpicking as if I lived locally I would be back on a regular basis.

We are staying at the Bay holiday homes and decided to have take away. We found this place online and found the menu on Facebook. We ordered and was easy and delivery was fast. All hot and service friendly. The food was fantastic. Everything looked like it was cooked with care and effort had gone in . All was cooked well and super tasty. Portions were great too. Would reccomend to locals and anyone visiting .

Staying at local caravan site. Popped into Filey to get a Chinese. Noticed good reviews for this one so tried it. Just gorgeous. Lovely food and reasonably priced. Gonna try and fit another in before we go home!

Staying in a caravan locally we rang to see if delivery was available. Using menus posted on tripadvisor from other users we rang back and placed and order. The food arrived and we were called to say driver was in the carpark. OMG the food was amazing. Huge portions and piping hot despite the restaurant being 4 miles way. We had curry’s, chow mein, crispy chilli beef. All very tasty. Would recommend 100%

Ordered a Special Curry, Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, Mushrooms and Prawn Crackers {free}. The food arrived bang on time, was hot and very tasty, the portions were value for money and in particular the Chow Mein was presented as if you were eating in. We have used other Chinese take away in Filey and always been satisfied but tonight's meal was by far the best.

It was a Wednesday and our usual holiday takeaway (Kam Sam) was closed so we had to try the Golden Dragon, which before Corona virus was a restaurant but now a takeaway. We ordered for 7pm - it was ready bang on time and was well organised for a safe collection. Importantly the food was excellent from the crispy chilli chicken to the special fried rice, chicken and mushroom fu yung to black pepper beef. They chucked in complimentary chicken wings (best we have ever had from a Chinese takeaway.). And it was very very reasonably priced.

Probably the the best Chinese takeaway we’ve ever had. In the midst of the COVID crisis only takeaway was available and they had to take phone off the hook. However I walked down and it was really well organised. I got the food back to the apartment and my goodness what a great feed it was. I wouldn’t hesitate to revisit and recommend this place

Delicious food. All freshly cooked. Yum yum! (Even cashews on Cashew Chicken were slightly toasted and very fresh.) Piping hot. Good value. Easy communication. Gorgeous. Will definitely go again. Thank you, chef and staff.

What a great find! The food was fantastic! Great value too. We arrived at about 6pm and managed to get a seat.

The menu is an all you can eat, at £14.50 a head when we were there, but so different from other all-you-can eats which have all been buffets when we tried them before. The Golden Dragon has a much wider choice of dishes than you find at even the biggest buffet and crucially, everything you order is freshly cooked. You order a couple of starters, they cook them, you eat them, then decide what you want next, and so on until you have eaten enough. All food comes very quickly.The Golden Dragon was full when we ate there and the productivity of the kitchen was a sight in itself.

Firstly the staff here are attentive and on the ball. Food as ever is fantastic served fresh and piping hot, with eat as much as you like. Only one let down is the drinks of beer and lager are out of cans.

Have used this establishment on numerous occasions, since Tracy (Manager) has taken the reins she has turned the place around, ie, decor, placements, staff. Overall a well managed team with excellent food and value fo4 money. “Use again” Most Definitely.

this was our third visit to this takeaway and I don't know if we just hit a bad night but our meals were awful. I had special fried rice and it was soggy and tasteless. The prawns and pork were ok but the chicken looked like it had been blanched in hot water my husband had lemon chicken, the batter was soggy and undercooked and the chicken wet and slimy, we threw it out for the seagulls and had a packet of crisps. I don't know what's happened but it wasn't the same standard as previous visits. It's really put us off returning

Booked table for 7pm seated straight away, ordered drinks two of the party ordered chicken/sweet corn soup and two ordered the chicken noodle soup, followed by ribs/chicken on skewers. Had the shredded duck with pancakes followed by two dishes each with rice and noodles.Can honestly say fantastic place, hot plates/dishes Chinese food was lovely and service perfect considering restaurant was full they never stopped. Would definitely recommend but book prior as very busy. Will be booking again shortly.

We've been a resident of primrose valley for the week....we have been craving a Chinese so we googled nearest takeaway and golden dragon came up with a 5*rating....it deffinatly deserved the top rating... absolutely beautiful fresh food! Both me the kids and my husband (who is very picky) thoughally enjoyed all our food every single item we ordered!! The delivery driver was lovely even delivered up to our caravan!!!! ...a shame we haven't found it before next year when we come back we will definitely be visiting the restaurant!!!! Can not recommend enough!!...x

I once again spent a few days staying with relatives in Filey, and as always eagerly looked forward to a takeaway from the Golden Dragon on Union Street. I was amazed how busy the place was as the holiday season was over. Every seat in the restaurant taken, and people queuing to the door for takeaways, but as I always find, the food was excellent and piping hot, reasonably priced,and service really good. Looking forward to my next visit. J Haigh

Staying at The Bay just outside Filey and decided, after looking at other reviews, to try here for a Takeaway. We weren't disappointed and enjoyed good size portions, tasty food at a reasonable price. Would definitely go back .

After reading reviews we visited this restaurant and was not disappointed.

This is an all you can eat restaurant,where you order from an extensive menu and the food is cooked fresh.You start with 2 starters each,but can order as many times as you want,then move on to 2 mains each,but again order as many times as you want.The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and we couldn't get over how reasonable it was.The restaurant isn't very big,so may be advisable to ring in advance,we were lucky and got the last available table.It is obviously very popular.Worth mentioning,it is cash payments only.

Don’t be deceived by the term Buffet. This is eat as much as you can from an extensive menu, cooked to order and served at the table. You can choose two starters each time you order, crispy duck once per person and two mains each time. We had the starters, ribs, prawn toasts, squid and satay chicken, all good. The duck was lovely and plentiful. We ordered two prawn dishes as main course with fried rice. At that point we had to give up but could have had more. The whole meal including wine was under £40. Amazing!

We didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered food for takeaway which was really good and service was very quick. Would definitely order again.

We visited yesterday, whilst on holiday. Myself, my partner and little girl had a lovely time. The food was delicious, such good value for money. The staff were amazing, so kind and polite and hospitable.

1st visit with friends for the all you can eat buffet. Not really a buffet as all food freshly made to order. Very tasty and portion sizes are just right. Service is good and staff explain how it works. Great value for £14.50 and will definitely visit again. I would recommend you book at weekends.

Had a couple of meals here during our trip to Filey. Cheerful Waiter helpfully explained the process as it’s an all you can eat menu. Squid Starter, Duck Pancakes very much enjoyed. Special Rice was first class. Very good value and well worth a trip.

Can’t fault the freshness and quality of every dish. Nice choice especially will the option of a set menu for at £31 (with the ability to choose any 3 dishes from the entire menu) alongside some classic dishes. Duck in spicy sea sauce was £1 extra but well worth having.

Just had a family birthday party here tonight and a fantastic buffet, you can order your appetiser, starter and main meal. You can order any meal has many times as you like, but only one crispy duck per person but anything else you can order has much as you eat. The food is cooked fresh so theirs no waste, if you do leave a full plate then you get charged extra, which I totally agree with because the food is plentiful and very tasty. Please try you will enjoy, the best Chinese ever. Enjoy

We had take away from here whilst on holiday at Blue Dolphin. OMG it was delicious! Reasonably priced and well worth it. Nice portion sizes. Nice and fresh. In fact it was so good we visited again before we went home! Highly recommend.

Overnight stay in Filey at The Downcliffe (excellent!!) and had planned to have a couple of drinks & then fish & chips. Slight change of plan and ended up at Th Golden Dragon & glad that we did!! The staff were so welcoming & friendly. The food was excellent & so well priced, around £25 for the two of us including a couple of beers each. Fantastic food & amazing value!!!

This was a fairly average Chinese meal. We had a takeaway which seemed to be ready in record time, only meaning it wasn’t freshly prepared. The chips could have been cooked for a little longer.

Of all the things I was expecting from Filey, one of the best Chinese meals I have eaten was not one of them. The food is absolutely first rate, the staff super helpful (great advice from our server as to which menu to use) and the price insanely good value - £32.50 for a three course meal for two, including crispy duck and four beers. Give this place a go.

Lovely food , ordered what we wanted when we wanted. No rush to order , waitress was lovely , I’m not a lover of Chinese food but ate plenty. Ribs were cooked to perfection , small plates but that’s fine as it’s eat all you can , and replenished when required. All In all 100% , service outstanding will definitely be going again

Not the best! Fancied trying a different Chinese takeaway but wish we hadn’t. It wasn’t bad but nothing special either. The takeaway was ordered in the restaurant and it was prepared very quickly so no problems with that. There was plenty of food for the price but we were a bit underwhelmed. Wouldn’t go again but that is just a personal choice.

We visited here whilst staying in the area. We ordered a variety of food which all tasted good and good portion sizes too. We ordered too much couldn't eat it all. The restaurant was small but very busy with both sit in and take away. Well worth a visit my only negative would be to try and accommodate more space for take away customers waiting for food felt a little uncomfortable standing around next to where people were sat eating their meal. Will definitely visit again.

Whilst visiting Scarborough staying at a local caravan park we were really craving Chinese food. We have a young child that was already in bed so we were unable to travel out, we looked on just eat & food hub but couldn't find anywhere that looked suitable. Luckily we stumbled across the golden dragon and noticed they delivered. I quickly called them to confirm they delivered to caravan parks and luckily for us they did and considering the hassle of finding of the caravan and the distance they only charged £2 for delivery, which in my opinion is a bargain. The delivery drivers were incredibly friendly, contacting us when they were running slightly behind & fully explaining the reasons why, despite only being minutes late at max. The food arrived, nice big portions and still piping hot. As an added bonus we received a large bag of prawn crackers free of charge, these were so fresh and crisp, they yated incredible. We had dry ribs and the meat just fell off the bone, the sweet & sour chicken balls were crispy and tasty, the egg fried rice was tasty, the spring rolls crispy, the chilli salted chips were slightly tame in spiciness for my liking but tastier none the less. The 2 mains we ordered chicken szechuan, was tasty but had more veg in that I like but this was my fault as I didn't ask what it came with to leave it out. The beef in black pepper sauce was nice, the beef was of great quality, the only thing we would say was the sauce easnt quite as strong or thick as we are used to but again that's simply as every Chinese makes things differently. Overall, we had great service, great price, tasty food and would definitely use again if we are up this way.

Found the menu in our Filey holiday house and thought the set menu for 4 looked interesting. The starters of salt and pepper chicken wings and aromatic crispy duck with pancakes were so good. All of the dishes we chose were delicious. Everything was hot and delivered within half an hour. Excellent value.

Love this place, we are a family staying in Gristhorpe and some wanted fish and chips and my wife and I wanted Chinese, so it had to be the golden dragon, set meal for 2 and some extra prawn toast, and we struggled to eat it all the portions are plentiful and food is fantastic. Well worth a visit if your wanting a takeaway.

We have been a few times now and the food is always 1st class. Been to other restaurants and get a few good meals then seem to go downhill. But this one never disappoints (thank goodness). The service is very good and like a previous review Tracy is always cheerful even when there are awkward customers. Keep up the good work

We have visited many times now and love this place. You just keep ordering again and again until you can hardly fit through the door. Food quality is amazing and the speed of delivery even more so as it’s cooked to order. We have to mention Tracey who was outstanding. She never stopped working and had a smile for everyone, giving proper customer service how it used to be. Totally recommend.

Despite living near Driffield it was well worth the visit to get quality food and amazing prices. Cannot fault any of the food ordered and very quick service.

Came on the last night of a weekend away and was the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time! Amazing staff! Amazing food! Everyone was so friendly and lovely! Can’t wait to come back again and come back here best way to end a holiday!

Small restaurant (6 tables altogether I think) with pleasant staff. It's "All you can eat" type of restaurant, but there is a notice on the menu stating that if you order food you can't eat, you'll be charge £3 extra per plate. Chicken noodle soup and appetizers were tasty, mains were ok but nothing special. Average Chinese place, but worth trying.

Really good Mushroom Curry! Not hot to taste was just right for me.Not long in Delivering either!!My Brother had a pea& onion omelette & chips & he commented how nice it was.We are All Vegetarians & the meal went down a treat,the portions are large...No complaints at all with the Menu or the price!!

We call in this restaurant and takeaway every time we are in Filey, their is 220 items on the menu plus noodle box meals and special set dinners. The food is always cooked fresh and so tasty, well worth a visit. Enjoy

We ordered by 'phone & then went to collect. However because there's no website with a takeaway menu, we had to drive to the restaurant to collect one & drive back home for everyone to choose what they wanted. Then ordered by 'phone & drove back to collect.

We had not been to this restaurant for years as previously the buffet had been very disappointing so after a couple of visits we never bothered going back.

We have a caravan a few miles away and never new this place till our friends Jackie and Simon took us last week on firs impression looks like a takeaway with tables but didn’t put us off we as welcomed on arrival and shown to our table which had complimentary prawn crackers and asked for our drinks order. Then the food order as it wa all you can eat for £12.99 you can order 2 starters each person at a time which I a good idea to save waste. If you want more then no problems.and main meals one pp at a Tim again to save wast (a really good idea).. now to the main thing THE FOOD well all I cans say is WOW AMAZING TASTY QUALITY FOOD from the apatises to the main courses and the service was outstanding especially our waitress Tracy she could not do enough for us. Thankyou Tracy. All in all I will definitely visit again now I know it’s here

So the family were split fish n chips and Chinese so here we were at the golden dragon and all I can say is awesome the set meal for 2 and a few extras this place must have such a captive audience I see some reviews on trip advisor for sit meals but if they are booked then they are booked they don't know how long people will stay for so to give a table away can have an effect!! However I have only had takeaway and in can honestly say I'm already waiting for Easter 2019 when we are back to enjoy the Golden Dragon if only our Chinese back home was this good!!! Filey, like must places is not easy to park. So overjoyed that man left restaurant with take away and created a parking place. Two guys also arriving as I assisted my wife with walking stick into restaurant. They went and sat at table. I was asked had we booked? No. Sorry , full. Book next time. Owner then turned and walked away. I asked morose young man, is she the owner. He nodded. I asked again of owner who said too busy. Maybe come at 7.30. Sorry said I have taken insulin , could die by then . Go away.

I've always ordered from here whilst staying at primrose valley caravan site, my parents came along this time so we needed to separate orders but to the same caravan. Delivery is £2 outside of Filey which is absolutely fine, no problem at all, after placing a large order the woman on the telephone told me the price, after putting the phone down I realised she had charged us twice for the delivery, I called back just to make her aware of the mistake, she insisted that it's right £4 delivery because we had two orders, I told her it's to the same caravan, then she proceeded to shout to her boss "she's complaining" and the Chinese lady took over. Apparently the delivery driver charge £2 per box which i find very hard to believe, and who wants a cardboard box anyway? It's a shame because the Chinese it's self was lovely but the service was not so good, especially the woman who takes the order.

Had a lovely meal here. The only thing that let it down was the person behind the counter, they never smiled once and literally glared at everyone who came in.

This is the second time we have visited and it didn't disappoint. The food is exceptionally good and it is still got to be the best chinese food I have eaten. As previously mentioned it is all about the food and the decor has got to be ignored.

The food from this place is amazing. We have had most things on the menu over the times we have visited. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service is quick. Lovely atmosphere. The duck is lovely and the meat is always so soft. Ok price as well to go with it! Bonus

Just had a meal delivered as we’re at the blue dolphin, probably the best, tastiest chine I’ve ever had, gorgeous 👍👍👍

We fancied a Chinese tonight and we went to just eat, and clicked on Chinese. So then we looked at reviews, and one stuck out with over 3,000 reviews ( most of them were outstanding, hence why we ordered from you). So, we went to order from you, for a family of 6, so we ordered. We ordered: 4x chicken chow mein ( it was very bland and dry), 2x sweet and sour chicken honk Kong style ( watery sauce, bland, dry meet), house special fried rice ( tasteless and chewy), chicken Chinese style balls ( smelt like it was cooked in chip oil and was yuck), crispy beef and peaking sauce (the beef was chewy, and the sauce was like water), beef and ginger and spring onion ( chewy, tasteless and watery), mini pancake rolls ( over cooked, the veg looked non edible (gave us free duck but was like shredded and dry) to eat). That's the grand total of £66.55 and our overall review on this place is disgusting, the worst place we have ever had a takeaway from and very disappointing considering all the reviews were very positively written. We will be sure to never order from here again. We also all came down with diarrhoea from this food. Very very disappointed family of 6.

This take away came with good recommendation, but we were a little disappointed. The food was quite bland and a little over cooked. I have had far better meals from other Chinese takeaways, but it was not awful.

Ordered takeaway whilst staying at Primrose Valley, it wasn’t far to travel and we chose this place based on reviews. The food was delicious and portion size was generous, the spring rolls were amazing! Definitely order from here next time we visit.

Used to visit once or even twice a month, every month, especially out of season. Food was good and ample amount. Recently, crispy aromatic duck is now served once per diner only and at reduced portion sizes. Drinks have become more expensive and today I witnessed a rude hand gesture by the main waitress to the back of a "potential" customer who was turned away from an empty restaurant shortly after 5pm due to apparently being (fully booked). All the customer muttered was "you are empty, that is not the way to run a business". If attitudes like this are not addressed by the management it will have a negative affect on the franchise which will be a shame.

We had special fried rice and chilli crispy beef - fabulous food , excellent quick service will definitely be back.

Fantastic Chinese food, had our order delivered to Primrose Holiday Park to the door of our caravan, it was delivered within the time stated, piping hot, really friendly delivery lady and the food was amazing.
