Food ok. Delivery time always twice as stated on website. Beware.

Ordered food and like others say it comes ridiculously late. The good old 5 minutes away. Delivery driver may have said yeehaa as this is a cowboy restaurant. Food is so poor. Came cold, soggy. Even the prawn crackers were messed up, how? Went straight in the bin as didn’t think it was even good enough for the dog. Stay away from this restaurant.

Ordered on just eat at 17:53… when food didn’t turn up at specified time, I called them. They said it was 5 minutes away. 20 minutes later, I called again. They said driver was round the corner. Eventually, it turned up. By that stage I had been waiting for two hours and fifteen minutes. By this point I’d totally lost my appetite. The food was ok, the hot and sour soup being the best part. The duck was bone dry, and the pancakes fell apart when I tried to make a wrap. The other annoying thing, to save on packaging, they stick the ribs in with the satay chicken, so the chicken is covered in ribs sauce. They also stick the prawn roasts, spring rolls, and seaweed in one container, so everything is covered in bits of seaweed. I wouldn’t recommend, and won’t be ordering again.

I ordered with a maximum estimated delivery time 20:55, I called at 21:08 to be told 15-20 mins wait, I tried multiple times to request an updated delivery time via the Ubereats app. I called again at 21:37 to be told that they were hoping a driver would pick it up in 5-10 minutes but couldn’t give me an arrival time, the food arrived over an hour late, mostly cold and my rice was wrong. I don’t mind the food being late but the communication is non-existent!

The food was great, portions were very generous and tastes reeealy good! Duck was good too. Delivery time was quite long but worth waiting

Well reading other reviews people complain about delays and delivery so I got off the sofa and went to the shop front of house could do with a refresh the man took order very nice lad we had special rice that was nice beef with black bean nice had a bit of spice sweet sour pork balls crisp batter and sauce was nice spring roll was nice free prawn toast nice a crisp and free prawn crackers very good will 100% go back food was hot uswell so well done

Rice that was ordered was not delivered.. they said it was ordered but when order was read back to me it was there. The guy on the phone actually said he did not care, he was busy and told me stop chatting!! We had spent £35 on the take away but he had had the money and really did not care.The sweet and sour sauce was this pink, clear runny liquid that was disgusting. Would never order from here again it was the worst Chinese we have had and the rude man that works there lacks any customer service skills.

Never received order it was not delivered and can't contact them for refund as they never answer there phone, also the Driver would not listen to me when I was trying to give him directions when he called he claimed he was at my home but clearly was at the wrong place. They speak very bad English very difficult to understand and they can't understand you so unbelievably difficult to deal with if they call you to claim that they are at your door. Deliveroo say that they can't help as this Restaurant uses their own drivers. Very expensive and when something goes wrong you can't get any help at all. All I can do now is call my Credit Card company to see if they can reverse the payment. Definitely NOT recommended avoid at all costs.

Missed half the order, then told that the driver doesn't want to come back so we won't be getting the food paid for. Best they can do is give me a refund on my next order. Of course they're going to remember that . Looks like it's time to find a new takeaway.

DO NOT ORDER From Golden Dragon. Over 2 hours wait and no order delivered. Despite being promised food was “on way” and will only be 10mins after speaking to the restaurant after 90mins of waiting. phoned again to be told food was “on its way”. Asked to cancel order. No straight answer given, so not much hope on receiving a refund..or food for that matter.

Communication was dreadful - had to cancel an order after waiting for 2 hours with no indication that the order was on its way. Avoid!!!!

5 times I specified I'm allergic to pineapple and still brought me lemon chicken with pineapple absolutely disgusting working in a food industry my self I could never let this happen taking this further as it's not the first time

Food was delicious, however if ordering on Uber eats like we did, do not be fooled by the expected delivery time, food took around 2 hours to turn up when we were told it would take at the maximum 50 minutes. If you’re happy to wait then I’d recommend for the food alone however if time conscious at all I’d avoid at all costs

Don’t waste your money at this Chinese! Ordered at 18:30 - finally arrived at 20:25 after calling to enquire as to the whereabouts and was told was waiting on a driver… The duck was dry, most of it was not eaten. The squid was that rubbery I couldn’t cut through it! It had definitely been nuked in the microwave before arriving with us as the squid had congealed and stuck together and gone black on the bottom! I made a complaint but not heard anything. Won’t be using them again - awful food and service

Ordered the food for delivery but after over 2 hours of waiting we drove to the store as their phone was deliberately disconnected and we thought we’d been scammed out of our money. When we got there they we rude to us and said we should have ordered for collection if we were going to come to the store. We saw on their screen that they had 17 overdue deliveries and a number of customers were doing exactly what we did and were turning up at the door. They should not be on UberEats/Deliveroo if they cannot handle the demand. There is no way of getting a refund from UberEats for at least the delivery so the experience was very stressful and frustrating. Food was poor on top of this and very overpriced for what it was.

Heads up - we waited 3 hours for a takeaway tonight. Called over 70 times. They answered 3 times and advised the driver was on the way. This turned out not to be true. They said they would refund and nothing. No refund no food. Please don’t order from Golden Dragon on Northumberland Avenue as unlikely your food will arrive. I went to the shop itself to see if I could collect instead. Very rude staff, no apology and disgusting hygiene witnessed.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered via Deliveroo with a 60 min wait time, no tracking given, we waited over 3 hours and it just never arrived. We called maybe 30 times in 3 hours and said “user busy” every single time, so they just had the phone off the hook, they weren’t even taking orders on the phone, which is a massive red flag. We checked Google before ordering to check it was legit, 3 stars we thought let’s risk it. Avoid !

I've ordered from here before, had the most amazing food, but tonight we ordered after I bragged about how good it was, and it took over 2 hours for delivery. When I was calling to chase up my order, I was greeted by attitude. In the end I asked for a full refund and then magically the delivery driver turned up with the food, but it was too late, we ordered different food instead. Its now 9pm and still no food, this was the worst experience I've ever had from a takeaway. I'm astonished!

Sadly my usual chinese is shut on sundays, so thought we would try the golden dragon. After 2 phonecalls and 1hr 45mins later the food arrived. The food itself was flavourless. Chicken balls and chilli beef was soggy. Sweet and sour sauce had a strange taste. Certainly will not be wasting my money here again.

Ordered some food from them. Price was higher than any other ones I’ve seen in the area. The food was full of some dissolving material and 30 minutes later the food was just inedible with a pungent smell coming out of it. Delivery was 1hr even though my house was CLOSE to the place. I could have collected it but we were really tired after a long busy day. Food was COLD and solid like ice! We wanted a refund so I called them and was rudely hung up immediately after I asked them why the food was terribly made and probably overcooked. No refund and got a refund from the bank a few days later. Do not order here, this place deserves to be closed.

Best takeaway in Reading for me. Now an occasional treat but it's worth it. The food is always hot, neatly packed and delivered in time. Have never had to chase up the restaurant. Great stuff!

My order last night took over 2hrs 30mis to arrive. The food wasn't that great either. I was told that I couldn't get a refund but the manager would call me back. That call obviously never happened. It's a shame as I have ordered from here many times in the past but seems to have gone downhill.

Took over an hour above the 70 mins lead time was given before the food was delivered. The restaurant did not even call to inform me of the delay or apologize for the delay. Won't be ordering from them again.

Have tried many local chinese restaurants but always end up going back to the Golden dragon, highly recommend almost all the salt and pepper dishes ( squid was a bit chewy ) but great chicken balls, rice & chow mien dishes. Chicken in garlic sauce is a must have & service is prompt. Little tip, it's cheaper to call in your order for delivery than it is to use just eat.

Golden Dragon is my go to Chinese takeaway. Normally order on Just Eat and the delivery is usually 30 minutes ahead of the time estimated. Personal favourites are: Hot & Sour soup, chicken chow mein, Spare Ribs salt&pepper (the best ever...so good), chicken in black bean sauce and traditional special fried rice. Beware ... if you order the chips and curry sauce you will like them so much you will never stop ... just saying ;)

A scruffy shop but the food was excellent and good value for money.

Food is all good. Delivery times spot on. No grumbles on that front. But what on earth is going on with the curry containers. Those soppy little polystyrene cups keep collapsing. Twice I've ended up with curry all over the work top. Sort it out GD and you'll get that extra star

Phoned at 19.35 tonight 13/2/21 explained how my food was picked up cold promised to have a phone call back never go one .worse food ever I have always had good food from here but will never waste my money here again it was as some bits had been reheated as wasn't even fresh

Worst experience with a takeaway. Definitely not coming back...ever! Pre-ordered our food and it was delayed twice without notice, almost 1h 45m after it should have been here (plus one conversation with the restaurant where they hung up on my wife) it turned up with items missing and other items were cold. Poor service, substandard food on this occasion and no apologies whatsoever - if you've read this far, do yourself a favour and order elsewhere, I will be from now on.

I most do self-collection, so had none of the issues some of the other reviewers had with delivery. The food is decent, a bit too salty for my taste. But for the days my wife and I don't want to cook, it offers a good meal.

Have ordered quite a few times and the food is very tasty, good portion size, good price. Family and friends who have had some with us all said how good it was.

Just eat are nearly 30 mins late now and im starving more then a caveman after a unsuccessful hunt, the food looks tasty like a summers eve but I cant eat pictures unfortunately, if I could I would of had half the stock photos and maybe some of the logos, food is a fair price but my primal urges are kicking in now and might go hunt for some wild boar, in abit folks if you never here from me again I died with honor

Do not go to this restaurant! I ordered a takeaway from here on JustEat and have charged me £31 and the money has come out of my bank and the address was wrong so I called them up to obtain the new address and they cancelled my order and never returned the money! They are rude and not helpful at all and tried to charge me twice!

Worst chinese in Reading. Bbq spare ribs really dry. Satey chicken tasteless. Crispy chilli beef soft and chewy. Really gone down hill. Not as good as it used to be. If I was there I'd get rid of the chef. Useless!!!

Had a nice Chinese from here tonight! It was so nice but i couldnt eat it all! Big portions but reasonable prices, highly recommend the place! First time from there and pukka👌👌 and I'm fussy with food! Yummy!

Ordered food and 15 minutes later it was at my front door. And all items we ordered tasted delightful! Excellent service!

AVOID! Awful waiting times and very rude staff. We ordered for delivery at 5pm via Just Eat, once our order was confirmed it was showing that our food would be delivered at 7:30pm. I then called the restaurant to ask if this time was correct and was spoken to so rudely by the member of staff that answered the phone. I was told “not to order if I didn’t want to wait”. I understand that often delivery takes a while however 2.5 hours is ridiculous! In the end we cancelled our order and instead ordered from Hong Kong City in Reading. Our delivery arrived within 30 minutes and the food was absolutely incredible!!

I use Golden Dragon often and usually its very nice but tonight the curry sauce was very salty and over powering to the point where our meal was ruined ' the convenience is local but might have to consider other places to enjoy our well earned food 👎🏻

The other was going to be an hour late so I called to say I was cancelling it as I was going to pay cash and the rude woman on the phone told me I couldn’t do that and that it “was on its way”, she never asked the address so I k ow she wouldn’t cancel the order. I told justeat by email and told the delivery driver when he arrived. They didn’t even have the decency to. It waste the delivery driver’s time. Warned by neighbourhood not to use them: all they had to do was apologise for being late and offer a discount but too stupid to do that so they’ve lost a street full of customers.

Paid for the order and it never showed up. The refused to answer the phone so I got a refund through just eat. I’ve warned others not to waste their money on them

This place is a joke 1 hour and 45 min for 2 x curry's and sweet and sour chicken balls after 3 phone calls later the food turned up the sweet and sour chicken balls were soggy and cold and the curry's were Luke warm we used to use this place pretty regularly but now we must find another place I can just about bring my self around to give them one star that's only because you have to give a star to leave a review . If your hungry order else where

Our food was good and the portions are very generous. We received it nice and hot after about 40 minutes of ordering. Which is surprising because the reviews from last week were putting me off to be fair. But I didn't think to check them until after I ordered. Glad I didn't because I would've ordered from somewhere else and possibly been disappointed instead of quite impressed. Not to mention stuffed. Spot on. 🙂

Extremely disappointed with the level of customer service received by this place. The food was OK but took 3 hours to arrive.. After calling more than 5 times to find out where our food was, I was presented with a person who had the ordacity to tell me that the driver was busy and he would be 5 minutes. This went on and and on still no food. Mixed messages where the driver was 5 minutes away were completely made up to give false hope and get you off the phone. The staff also hang up on you when they see certain people call, so be prepared for that too. The drivers don't answer their phone either so your are completely in the dark about where your food is. Ironically, the food I ordered was only cooked 15 minutes before it arrived so it was fresh and not freezing cold as would of been of it were cooked when it was ordered. The worst customer service I have received in a long time. Out right lying to customers and blaming being busy as an acceptable justification just fuels up the disappointment you will recieve. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

2 hrs wait and counting. 156 phone calls to an engaged tone. I suspect they have taken the phone off the hook at this point. Why accept orders if you have no intention of delivering. Absolutely disgusting

Awaiting over an hour for food on valentines day still waiting!! We normally use this takeaway. Can't get through phone engaged or off the hook nightmare!!!

Great food quick delivery but the source needs improvements

If you appreciate decent customer service and not waiting an hour and a half for your food then DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. The delivery driver was curt and rude, no call when our order was going to be delayed or late. And the food was barely warm. There are thousands of Chinese restaurants around, I’d reccommend going to any other one than this one.

Would advise avoiding this place like the plague! As with most of the other reviews, they delayed the initial hour delivery time by 10 mins but still managed to be a further 30 minutes late. No friendly update or apology. Then the food finally arrived and well, it would have been a blessing in disguise if it hadn't have arrived at all! The meat in the dishes was slimy - if you've ever watched kitchen nightmares it looked like the meat Ramsey pulls from the back of the fridges! The chicken in the sweet and sour balls was pink. Needless to say, we left our whole order after the first few mouthfuls and as it was going to waste, offered up the meat to our dogs - they genuinely turned their noses up at it! Seriously concerned about food poisoning risk, would never order again!!

Ordered "crispy chilli beef". What I got was not crispy chilli beef. At best it was crispy chilli flour. At worst, crispy chilli mystery meat. Upon reflection, I received greater pleasure writing this review than eating my truly awful meal.

Eaten here most weeks for the last 6 months, never had a bad meal or a longer wait than an hour. Not sure the number of bad reviews here truly represents the real quality of service and cuisine.

I had a lovely takeaway from golden dragon today. The food is great,could say restaurant quality,and the staff is very friendly.

Great place for food poisoning! Myself and my house mates ordered Chinese from the Golden Dragon 26/04/17 at 20:45. My brother was the first to come down with feeling sick and withing two hours of consuming the takeout he was vomiting non stop for several hours which then following with diarrhoea. We had to phone 111 as the diarrhoea and vomiting had not subsided at all and he was still very unwell for many hours. The paramedics had to give my brother the anti nausea injection just so that he was able to keep some sort of fluids down. He then went to the doctors the next day and was confirmed that he was either given food poisoning or the norovirus from having the Chinese takeaway the night before, he was prescribed anti nausea tablets, anti diarrhoea medication for once the vomiting had stopped and strong painkillers to ease off his pain. My brother was still very ill for the next couple of days, he still had diarrhoea, and vomiting he was finally feeling a bit better 4 days after initially being ill. On 28/04/17 I woke up early hours of the morning and began to vomit, I was unable to stop vomiting, to which it lead to myself both vomiting and having diarrhoea for many hours (the exact symptoms that my brother had the night before) so again we had to phone 111, but this time for myself the paramedics had to come out, give myself the anti nausea injection. The paramedic asked a list of questions and he was able to confirm that it was food poisoning or the norovirus, which we as a house hold had contracted from consuming the Chinese. I was prescribed strong painkillers. 30/04/17 I was stillcontining to vomit and was unable to keep any fluids down, the painkillers where the only thing that was preventing me from having the diarrhoea. My house mates ended up phoning 111 which then lead to a phone call to 999 as I was constantly vomiting and not able to keep any fluids down, the paramedics confirmed that it was the norovirus from the Chinese and it was my body trying to get rid of the infection. It has only been until today (04/05/17) that I have finally stopped vomiting and been able to consume my normal diet without the aid of any strong painkillers or anti nausea medication. My other two house mates, have also not been very well since consuming the takeaway, my partner came down with a severe case of diarrhoea for the past couple of days, and my brothers girlfriend has come down with the norovirus herself. We had to phoned 111 out for herself where she was taken to A&E and was put on a drip as she is at higher rise due to her other personal health problems. I am beyond disgusted at the quality of food that we had received from the Chinese for an entire house hold to come down with food poisoning and the norovirus. There is a clear lack of care of this needs to be investigated so that no one else comes down with this.

Had before very nice not tonight food warm on top cold underneath like fridge temperature wander if microwaved phoned to tell them said they cook fresh and will ask manager to look into mine is in the bin hope I don't get food poisoning from what I ate does put you of😩

Told me 45-1hr delivery... still waiting 1 hour and a half later. Phoned up and they said will be with you any minute!? Over ten minutes ago. Not very happy. Won't be ordering from them again even if the food turns out to be ok. Really disappointed as it's the first time I've ordered from them.

Totally agree with the latest reviews. I would have happily given 0 stars if it was an option. Only order if you want to wait 2 hours for food that you wouldn't even feed to your dog. The meat was all horrible offcuts, their Special Fried Rice and Kung Po Chicken were bizarre? Disgusting? Pick any adjective you wish to describe something you never want to experience again. And of course everything was COLD after waiting that long. No apology or anything - really shameful customer service. the biggest culinary disappointment of my life!

I wouldn't even give them one star. Placed an order at 6.50 which was meant to take an hour (which is already plenty long enough in a busy time) and instead it arrived at 9. No discount, no explanation other than as it's a Just Eat order they have no control. Hardly an excuse. Was told I would receive a call from the Manager which never arrived...AVOID.

Very very very poor, chicken does not look or taste like chicken , they lie about delivery times and just fob you off, still not sure it was chicken, it is playing on my mind , two spoons and it went in the bin
