Golden Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant & Take Away in Middlesbrough

Not a nice experience. Ordered the chicken curry with fried rice. It didn't taste like curry whatsoever. Very dissapointed.

oh well should have read the reviews , never again , not sure what the cook was using but Chinese food does not smell like that ( i lived in china 10 years) . Went for a drink afterwards as needed something to drown the strange taste

rang and asked if open - said YES - went, sat down and ordered . Waited one hour and then bags placed on table . man said "we're not a "resturant" " and stormed off Thought could not get any worse - till we got home and tasted it

Good food, great service and good value for money. We went for the lunch special £10 for two courses a side and a drink…bargain and so tasty!! The owners are so lovely!

I live just round the corner from this cracking little eatery and visit at least once a week for food. I give them a big thumbs for their portion sizes, really tasty and fantastic value for your money. Good customer service too the lady that takes your order for takeaways is always jolly. Can I make one suggestion. The food menu on the counter is in small print some difficulty reading it as I had left my glasses at home this evening. A menu with larger print would be a good idea as I wont be the only person that has had this happen too. Apart from that 10 out of 10.

Husband and I had a special curry each. Very disappointed with curry as previous meals have been good. Flavourless tonight?? Chips also disappointing? Prawn toast lovely.

With lock down thought just for a nice treat set a table for 2, never had a takeaway chinese but this restaurant came as a recommendation.. after finally getting through to a busy line and trying to translate what my order was IT WAS FAB.A DEFINITIVE HIT ! for both service , food, quality..delivery took 15 minutes. Food was fresh, hot, looked fantastic and the amount was unbelievable for 2 peopleSo much so we rang our daughter to collect what was left...We ordered set meal for 2 and you get to choose your own 2 main meals ( plus ) it came with the set meal for 2 for example 2 soup which was delicious/ prawn toast/ ect...the menu is on line all this came in at an Amazing £28..might I add the menu is extensive. I would Definitely recommend and give a 5 out of 5 for service, value, quality. Cant wait to have a family get together after covid with this restaurant/ takeaway chinese being the menu of choice...A MUST

Ordered a takeaway tonight. First class service, efficient friendly staff. Our takeaway arrived piping hot despite horrendous traffic and was scrumptious. First time customers who will return.

Food good but takeaway busy with noisy phone / fax, constant stream of scruffy takeaway drivers taking orders out and returning, also sitting at back of restaurant assembling takeaway packaging, with a child (presumably staff's child). We also waited longer for our meal as they were busy with takeaway. I did not enjoy my meal because of this. I will look for a "normal" chinese restaurant. Also can only pay with cash as they had a card machine stolen.

Visited on an early Sunday evening and we were greeted with a warm welcome.The service was excellent with a varied menu.We decided on a beef in black bean sauce dish and sweet and sour chicken cantonese style dish. Both were exceptional and couldn't fault the rice too.The price was very reasonable and was our first time at this lovely restaurant.We will definitely be visiting again and cannot recommend them enough.

Needed somewhere to eat and I found this gem on TripAdvisor so booked in.Food was superb, huge portions and packed full of flavour! Really nice! The king prawn in black bean sauce was lovely!Our waitress Yen was superb - hard working and couldn’t have done more us. Good humour and great service.I doubt I will back to ‘Boro anytime soon but if I do, I may well be back to sample some more of the extensive menu.Ignore any misgivings you have over location or exterior and get in for a great meal.

The first thing I’d say it’s don’t let the front put you off it’s not the smartest but then I don’t thing the two factors of good food and look always go together. I was staying here for a few nights with work and popped in by chance. The restaurant was quiet first night but busy the second - a mix of solo travellers and families. They are also mad busy with takeaways. A real warm welcome and the chef brought my meal out the first evening and said he hope I enjoyed it! Nice touch!! I had a really tasty chicken curry with rice although the portions are big for me ( that’s just my preference). Great value wine by the glass and overall a lovely two hours and I was not rushed at all. I would certainly go back for a good honest Chinese meal. I have rated excellent based on food welcome service and value for money.

Been using this place off and on for a while now. The food is always good and hot. Sometimes if busy the delivery can be a bit late

Had duck pancakes as a starter then a selection of main courses. It was all delicious. Would definitely recommend and will be ordering again

We order on a regular basis from this chinese and over the last few months the delivery service has gone so far down hill it’s unbelievable. We ordered a small meal on just eat and got a delivery time of 8.45 which the restaurant then changed to 9.15. Annoying but fair enough. Nearly 9.45 and we rang to ask where our delivery was only to be told we needed to wait another 20 mins at least. We were past hungry by this time so cancelled sadly, im not sure we’ll go back as this is getting more and more common unfortunately.

Food is so tasty and the portion sizes are huge Will definitely be ordering again very good prices also

Ordered from here for delivery on Saturday night. We all enjoyed what we got. I had the Singapore fried rice which was really good. However, delivery stated it would be 45 minutes and ended up taking an hour and 10 minutes, so not very impressive. Food was hot when it came mind.

After trying so many truly vile Chineses in middlesbourgh I had given up then I discovered this place! Everything from here is outstanding ! Fall of the bone ribs,crispy hot fresh salt and pepper chicken, chow mein that’s not greasy or dry! I would have to rate it 10/10 as that’s the only fair score! 5 hygiene stars also fromOctober this year tells you there clean and care about there customers there very polite and the food arrives hot and fresh always keep the great work up guys this is the ONLY Chinese in boro worth eating from !

We’re only visiting the area and were staying just over the road. We selected a handful of our regular favourite dishes and hoped for the best.The meal was excellent, it’s the best Chinese meal we’ve had in a long time, in fact it was so good we’re disappointed we live so far away.The server was friendly and patient, the restaurant looked very clean and the wait was acceptable.The food looked amazing and tasted just as amazing, the quality of the produce was also very good.Well worth a visit. Hope we come back this way again.

Best chinese meal I have eaten in Middlesbrough in years ! Top quality, tasty Chinese food and good quality wine. I will definitely return.

The outside temperature was minus 2, windy and snowing with round two of the ‘Beast from the East’ storm.Called in for a Chinese meal but not good when we were greeted by the waitress in a COAT. The place was decidedly cool and when we sat down next to a radiator it was stone cold.Couldn’t stay and we left but I did explain to the waitress that it was too cold to sit and eat a meal in comfort. Sorry but part of the eating out experience is to do it in a comfortable and warm environment.

Went to this restaurant with some co workers on a Thursday evening. We went in and was greeted by a lady in a dufflecoat, she leads us to our table. Me and a coworker got what the menu says a ‘draught lager’ which we saw to be later was actually a can of fosters which we paid £3 each for. We didn’t even get a full pint too, as the cans were only standard size. The staff seemed nice, however our main waitress didn’t remove her coat the entire time too which just didn’t create a particularly good impression,Food was brilliant though, all hot and very tasty and didn’t take too long at all considering we got a little bit of everything. Would definitely use the place as a take away again, but not as a sit in eatery.

We ordered a take away from this restaurant, delivery was fast, communication excellent and the order was 100% correct on arrival, the food itself was also very good and much better than that which we got from the local Chinese takeaway a few days earlier.

This is the second time we have visited Golden Chopsticks and we were not disappointed - it was excellent again. We chose Set Menu C. The prawn crackers were thick, not greasy and tasted of prawn The hot and sour soup was very tasty full of shrimps, pork, noodles and veg with a hot kick. We had a large platter of mixed pieces, sesame toasts - which are the best we have had, seaweed, spare ribs with lots of meat and a delicious sauce, chicken skewers with satay dip which is absolutely delicious and spring rolls The platter was huge, very well presented with a signature dragonfly made from carrott. The next course of shredded crispy duck was a very generous portion, plenty pancakes, sauce and freshly prepared spring onions, cucumber and salad. The main meals then followed king prawn in veg and oyster sauce (No 80 Off the menu) cooked to perfection - delicious but we couldn't eat all of it. The other main Beef in Black Bean Sauce (129 off Menu) was fantastic with lots of tender beef, crunchy peppers and a perfect flavoured and consistent sauce which was not salty like some other establishments. The special fried rice was steaming hot, fluffy with plenty of shrimps, pork and veg. James the chef then presented us with chopped pineapple for dessert (on the house) a really nice gesture. Service is excellent and James and his staff go to exceptional lengths to ensure you have a faultless and pleasant dining experience by providing top quality food and service that certainly does not disappoint. We will be back again to work our way through the extensive menu. Thank you to James and his team.
