I always come here with my friends to get some authentic Chinese food they also have Korean dishes I recommend trying there already prepared hot pots and shear with two or three people I reccomde sha char or belly pork or Korean hot pots if first time trying you can choose spice level to. They also do amazing Koran fried chicken as a relaglur I thought it was time I'd leave a Google review as this place needs more love ❤️

The food is too expensive and the service is too poor. We went with 5 people to eat hot pot and grilled food, we had to pay 280£. too expensive. We wanted to take the leftovers home but the owner wouldn't allow that.

Good food and nice ambience. Fried Chicken with chilli, chicken/veg dumplings, Jasmin tea and fried rice are a must try. Parking is a little difficult, you need to search spaces a street away. Fried chicken with chilli is a must try!

If you like asia food go to this place. Food is fresh and crunchy, stuff is really nice and the place is ok.

I am very disappointed at the delivery and customer service. My time and patience are not valued. 2 hours of waiting time was wasted. Customers should be treated with respect.

Ignore the negative reviews on here, they are honestly nonsense from people who don't understand the type of food they are ordering or are culturally insensitive. The food here is truly incredible and the best of its type for the price in the whole North of the country. I regularly travel an hour just to eat here. Order the Hot pot, pick what you want, and be amazed by the insane amount you get for the price.

The egg is not cooked …. Still raw. I paid £23 for this dish but this hot pot has very few soup. The amount is not the same before my last order.

Look at the stage of my dinner. 23£ worth of take away with no soup, too many noodles. I didn’t expect this to happen. In store and take away is really different. I didn’t paid 23£for this. Really disappointed and will never order again, warning everyone!!! Avoid like your wallet depended on it and your taste buds mean something to you.

We ordered the mala xiang guo, brinjal w mince meat and huei guo rou. The 3 dishes was very nice and we enjoyed so much and finished all. The price was cheap. We definitely will go back n eat again. Most important, we ask for less salt. Nice

The food was served very slowly. It took almost two hours for the food to be served. The dishes ordered at the same time as other tables, the dishes of the people around who did not speak Mandarin were served quickly, and then we waited for another half an hour for the dishes to be served, which was ridiculously slow. 大陆人要吃他们家的话建议点外卖

Have ordered for delivery from here a few times but this was my first time eating in. I ordered the vegetable dumpling hot soup which is a little pricey at £14.99 however, the dish is intended for two people and is served in a pot that keeps the dish warm. This is one of my favourite vegetarian ramen dishes I've tried so order it for myself then take half for home.

I ordered for me and my friends 3 soups and two orders of ribs I must of been waiting for at least an hour no starters at all. I asked to pay for the drinks because it probably would have been another hour then they told me there was only 1 chef and they did not tell us when we ordered a table for 8. Terrible service they gave us the wrong drinks and I’m would not wish anyone to come here and have the same experience

Highly recommend the ma la xiang guo dish which is the best food i have tried at hot wok as its spicy and very tasty! However, the serving time should be quicker.

Lunchtime visit with friends trying out a new dining experience. The food was really different and delicious. Sweetcorn tofu was a favourite. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were dying to try this place based on the reviews but unfortunately the food wasn't that great. The yangnyeom chicken was hard on the outside and too salty. Same with the salt and pepper shredded chicken. Egg fried rice was good, the service was quick but the waitress didn't understand English very well so it was difficult to ask questions. No ambience, wouldn't go for atmosphere. I reckon the traditional Chinese dishes are better than the usual fast food dishes.

We had a karaoke birthday event booking at Hot Wok for the night, the staff kindly catered to all our needs and were very accommodating. Food was great, we ordered a variety of dishes that arrived on time and was very tasty. The karaoke machine was a touch slow to respond which can be improved, however I personally can't fault the dining experience ☺️

What an absolutely gorgeous place, the broth is another level and if you like spicy get the spicy broth Hot Wok is now my new favourite please to eat in Middlesbrough. Our waitress was so nice and so helpful and cant fault anything within this business. I can't wait to go back!

Found this place by chance as travelled from the Midlands to visit my friend in Middlesbrough & decided to get a Chinese takeaway but found out that nearly all the Chinese restaurants were closed on a Tuesday, so was delighted to find Hot Wok open, the dishes we all chose were lovely & very tasty, more expensive than we normally pay but didn't mind that. The restaurant itself is small but looked spotlessly clean. My only gripe would be is that we bought a bag of prawn crackers between the 3 of us as usually the bags are big enough to share with some left over but the crackers are in portions for one person which we didn't realise when ordering but that was our mistake but would definitely visit again next time up Middlesbrough x

Been a long time since I've been to the Hot Wok due to Covid but this evening had a fantastic meal ...so authentic and cant recommend highly enough. Amazing food and such friendly service and superb value. The menu is amazing an don't be afraid to ask for help. Hot and sour soup with salt n pepper squid and fried dumplings to start 😋 👌 🙌 Superb ❤️

Scribbled out the per person price for hotpot and put in a higher value using a biro. Drinks were not included in the per person price. Food came out slow when we and another couple were the only people in the restaurant at the time. Avoid this place unless you want to be overcharged for food and have to wait for your food.

I simply lovedddd it!! I am a huge fan of traditional Chinese culture and their food and this place has got all that!! I had veg chow mein extra spicy and it hit the perfect spot on my tongue. It’s interior and ambience puts you right in the middle of your childhood(if you are from china, obviously 😂). Gonna go there every-time from now on!

We came here as a family as myself and my son had previously visited another cooking hot pot restaurant when in manchester so wanted my partner to experience it! When seated we were handed a menu but given no instructions on size of portions or how many to order etc. After asking how we do this we ordered and drinks arrived. Our food took around 45 minutes to arrive to the table from us being seated (this is uncooked food so should not take this long especially in a quiet restaurant) other tables who were seated after us were served their hot food first! The hot pot wasn't turned on properly so the broths were not boiling to start with, we were not provided bowls or plates to eat from and we were not advised how long items take to cook, we felt as though we were stupid and bothering the staff for asking for these things! It was only after a while the staff warmed and made us feel a little more comfortable but the initial feeling wasn't nice! The concept is brilliant and very unique but I just feel a little more help and guidance would have made the experience a whole lot better!

I go here quite often! Me and a few friends love this place and it quickly became my top favourite places to eat out at! It's even a place I go to eat when I'm feeling down because the staff and food are that good! The food is amazing, we've ordered quite a few dishes but my friends and I have barely scratched the surface! I've never been disappointed with a dish we've been served and the owner (I think she's the owner) is a lovely person who me and my friends are always excited to see when we get there because she's so kind to us and we've become regulars because of the amazing times we have here! I would recommend going to this place in person, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is so calming and the staff are kind. (Photos are from the few times I've taken some before eating though we're usually too into our food to take pics)

Placed my order for delivery at 16pm today for delivery after 17pm . This is when it started to go wrong. 17:10pm driver calls to say outside which he was not, tried taking to him on the mobile but just got foul laugh as the driver phone not working call the shop just a a waste of time said they would call back but no call called the driver 6 times his phone on mute. Finally received food cold and more abusive language. Never again called the shop not answering the calls don’t use this restaurant/takeaway. After issuing this review, call from the restaurant to say sorry and due to receiving the incorrect meals and the abusive words used by the delivery driver they would replace the full meal. 45mins later nothing called them and yet again they just did not have a clue . This place needs closing down they are taken mint under false pretences. Told the owner was talking to me to then be told she was not the manager and did not understand. Told the manager/ owner would call me in 10 mins , yes you have it no call back just lied to me . Close this please down . Don’t waste your time or money

Came here for a visit to Middlesbrough, picked the family for 4 meal deal Service was incredibly slow and it stated x4 mains x4 drinks etc The food came and only 3 mains and 3 drinks we asked for the additional and it still did not come out. Upon paying we asked for the price to reflect this and they said NO and also that drinks are not Included in the deal but yet the menu says it does Not a great experience for a first visit here and doubt we will be coming back.

This has to be the worst place for delivery, I have ordered from here twice now, but to wait over an hour both times when delivery states will be delivered in 35 mins via the app is a bit miss leading and then some lame excuse from the restaurant saying they have just sent the order out the door, I can not the knock the food as it always tastes amazing.

Awful, not just worse chinese I've had but worst take away. House special chop suey had some apparent chicken that was like jelly and more like fish in texture but can't compare the taste to anything I've ever had before, the prawns looked the business but was like chewing on elastic bands. The satay sauce was all over the bag, the salt and pepper chicken was open in the corner now full of satay sauce upon getting the prawn toast and spring rolls out of the bag the paper bags split due to being soaked and ended up on the floor. so nearly £24 for salt and pepper chips between two people. Save your money.

Food was ok service diabolical. Waiter didn't have a clue .main dish arrived before the starter. Dirty plates left on table for ever. Had to ask repeatedly to take our order .too busy taking fone orders and then had the cheek to tell us that's why the service was bad. Get ur bloody act together either do one or the other . Definitely won't be back very annoyed that we were charged full price .

A very pleasant little restaurant very close to the junction of Borough Road and Linthorpe Road, in middlesbrough. It is a proper authentic chinese establishment, perhaps the only real Chinese Restaurant in Middlesbrough. The staff inside is very friendly and pleasant. Smiles all around. They make you feel valued and welcome. Service was fairly quick. I ordered King Prawn Szechuan Curry, with egg fried rice. It wasn’t long before it was served in a wooden tray. Very impressed. I enjoyed every bite of it. Restaurant’s interior is very tasteful and authentic. Oh yes, a very important observation is that they have stoves on the table and they do table cooking and hot-pots and hot soups. I've visited this restaurant on three occasions now within 3 months. Every time I've been there the food just keeps getting better and better. It appears the Korean menu has now been extended. Its a great menu and it's the main reason I visited and like the place so much. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an authentic experience of Asian food. The cuisine is beyond the level of any standard Chinese or oriental menus. There is also a secret menu, if you want to be a little more daring. Staff are lovely too. Thanks so much for everything.

Ordered from Uber eat , Salt and pepper chips , super bland not spiced Salt and pepper chicken , just tasted like garlic. Ribs dry , tough completely in edible , I give the dogs treats that are better than this . Beef jerky would have been less tough and dry , these can't be fresh . Munch box would almost entirely full of chip

Ordered some takeaway and it arrived 20mins early. The driver had forgotten our drinks but the lady from the restaurant was very apologetic and ended up delivering them herself. We ordered 2 munch boxes for 1 and there was plenty of food however, way TOO greasy. The oil in the fryer needs to be changed ASAP. The chips were very dark in colour so I ended up not eating any of them. Besides the munch box, you get a separate container with egg fried rice which was good. The satay sauce was very lovely but the curry sauce again was way too greasy that the oil was separated. We were slightly disappointed with the bubble teas especially with the mocha as it bitter in taste, strange colour and did not taste like it had chocolate. Overall, it was a good experience but wouldn't order again. Very good customer service, the lady on the phone was very polite and attentive.

Had a late night craving for dumplings, and wasn’t really expecting much as so far haven’t found a good place for asian food, but oh my god was i surprised!!! The dumplings are absolutely delicious and authentic. The wonton soup is amazing. And as a bonus you get a bag of prawns crackers!!! The portions were nice and filling. Can’t wait to order again!

We were looking forward to experiencing the table top hot put and grill, and it did not disappoint. You got to choose what kind of noodle, meat, seat food and vegetable to go in it and on the grill. We both choose a broth each go in the double pan. The staff were very tentative and helpful helped with some of the grilling at tableside. There were various toppings to be available to make a unique dipping sauce out of. The bubble tea went with it with it. The flavours were very interesting, and was fun to do. Would definitely go back again and invite friends. Our bill was under £40. I am glad we booked as it has limited tables.

New Hot Wok is so much better with new decor, menu and everything else! We gonna try their Korean menu + Hot Pot/ BBQ set next week … A must try Chinese/Asian Cuisines whilst in Teesside area!

Worst food I have ever eaten, the order itself was over an hour late, when it finally arrived it wasn't even edible, chicken was cheap and chewy, rice was cold had about 3 mouthfuls of each and gave up, my boyfriend ate it but he would eat a rock after waiting that long, do not recommend hot wok terrible service and terrible food.

Called in for a quick lunch today and was really disappointed. I had the hot and sour soup which was ok at best, for the main I had beef in blackbean sauce, but the beef had a really fatty jelly-like texture, it was awful I couldn't eat it. I sent it back and asked for chicken instead. The chicken was marginally better but still quite jellified, they're obviously using the cheapest meat they can get. Such a shame, because I used to really rate this place. It's not cheap either, I had soup the beef with some boiled rice and 1 diet Coke and it came to £18. I won't be going back.

We had read the rave reviews but we actually came across this place by accident. We expected good things but were somewhat disappointed. Table service was slow and a bit indifferent. Some of the food, the crispy duck, was lukewarm and the range of vegetables with both the main dishes seemed limited to just peppers and onions. It wasn't a bad meal by any means. The soup was OK and the mixed starters very good. It just lacked the sparkle we had expected and the transparent plastic table cloths were ugly. At 8 30pm we were suprised that the waiter should start mopping the restaurant floor near by us. We would come back again but not in a hurry and probably not on a Sunday night.

Consistently good superb Chinese food authentically cooked by a Szechwan Chef Unusual range of regional dishes with the menu both in Chinese and English as their main clientele is the former Excellent value for money take your own wine

I’m a regular visitor to Taiwan and southern China on business, authentic Chinese cuisine is my favourite but it is difficult to find in the UK. This small but cosy restaurant offers superb authentic Chinese food certainly one of the best places I’ve eaten at in the UK. Family run business with very friendly hostess and knowledgeable helpful chef Who specialises in Sichuan cuisineKung Po chicken is superb As is the crispy duck with pancake and the Sichuan King prawn in hot spicy sauce. Very reasonably priced and excellent value.

Ate here with my partner for the first time this evening. We love Chinese food and know what we like.The hostess was very helpful in helping us to find what we were looking for on the Chinese menu and the chef was happy to cook a dish to order for my partner, even coming out to engage with us about our dinner.Excellent food, great Schezuan chef, delightful service, nothing too much trouble.We will be back!

He showed me photos, to prove it! HaIt’s not your typical Chinese restaurant, although they do still do some of the classics, be prepared to try something new and you will not be disappointed.Ask for the hot pot menu, and ask to create your own noodle bowl! (You chose your own ingredients)I recommend the noodle bowl, spicy, with udon noodles and chose 8 of your favourite ingredients. I also recommend the salt and pepper squid! It’s really good. I have been in the kitchen and it’s clean.This place deserves 5 stars.

The food was truly amazing. We travel all over the world and try Chinese restaurants everywhere and this restaurant just made it to my nr 1 on my list. The people were just as friendly and recommended traditional Chinese dishes. Was so good. Had to almost roll out the restaurant. Worth the visit!

On the night I went in they were closing at 9 and I arrived at 8:50 not knowing this. They still fed me with a really good Kung Po. I will go back for sure

What a great little find, stumbled across this restaurant, very authentic Asian cusine, not for the faint hearted, but quality and service were fab, a great dining experience, and reasonably priced.
