Ling Yan in Middlesbrough

Noodles were tasteless had to add more soy sauce to them and salt and pepper chips were soggy and oily and hardy any peppers.service was bad took 15 mins to cook chow mein and chips. New regent on acklam road is better but was sadly closed.

It's a take out. My son loves the salt and pepper munch box, bargin at £13.00. He loves them very tasty. Service is fast and efficient. Please remember to take cash. Would definitely recommend.

The best Chinese food I have ever tasted with beautiful fresh chips not frozen rubbish. This is my new favourite place to eat from.

Used this takeaway whilst visiting relatives. Ordered 3 different chow meins, duck with mushrooms and fried rice and portion of chips. Huge portions but quality was poor. Most of it ended up in the bin. Complimentary prawn crackers very bland too. Won't be coming back.

Went in for a beef chow mein for the first time in over a decade and was a tad apprehensive about it after reading recent reviews..... Was greeted by a lovely lady who took my order,I could hear it being cooked fresh out the back and it tasted exactly like the last time I went in there so I'm going again tonight😁

Just service is so slow bad since it changed hands tell you 20 min the 45 min later

I have been to this take away this evening the food was the worst I have tasted. Ordered king prawn spring onion and ginger. Prawns were that overcooked they looked a little bit bigger than a shrimp. No ginger at all in the meal the gravy/sauce was bland and grey in colour. The rice was sticky and like rice pudding. We ordered chips egg fried rice and curry all bland and tastless. Rang and complained to a rude person on the other end of the phone. Was offered a replacement no thanks or a discount on more food. As I explained to the rude person at the other end of the phone why would I want a replacement or a discount when the food was so bad. Avoid this take away.

When I went to the take away the food was tasty with plenty of meat in the dishes I will return

It's our first visit since Ling Yan changed hands and we weren't disappointed. Our house special Chow Mein and fried rice was utterly delicious. Huge portions with plenty of meat and lovely vegetables. We'll certainly be back soon

I think I speak for the majority of Teesside when I ask, what on earth has happened to this place? This takeaway used to be hands down the best takeaway I’ve ever eaten. For over 30 years the queues used To be out the door and it was honestly the best quality ever. It got took over and now the food is bland af and not even slightly nice. It’s even getting progressively worse. The chow meins are bland. Watery. Tasteless. The noodles that used to be dark brown are now anaemic and almost white. The rice is anaemic and tasteless. The chips are either dry and cold because they’ve been sat there for ages, or greasy. I once got really stale prawn crackers that had clearly been out for days. Whatever you guys are doing to this place. Please stop. Bring back the original chef. Or upskill your current one. Because this food is so bad.

The best in the area, being going there for years..however very disappointed since owner change, gave it a few goes but sadly failed to keep the same standard of food .

Still decent, I don't really eat much on the menu so can't really comment on it overall, I just get the curry's and I like them

Try the chow mein it’s one ov the best in boro They old school and that’s hard to find lately People whinging obviously haven’t tryed the Chinese takeaways around the town Try some ov them then you will have something to whinge about lol My only complaint is that it’s closed on Tuesdays

Worst chinese I've ever had changed owners and is shocking beef curry was full of arteries absolutely rotten wouldnt have give it one star or to the dog.

Chicken Curry, Fried Rice, Chips. Not a great experience to be honest. Rice was super bland, chicken pieces flavourless and boring, (looks suspiciously like Iceland chicken chicken pieces)... curry sauce 4/10. Very large portion but 40% thrown in the bin. All in all a very poor/average experience. Cost £9.70... My price opinion: £6.00 tops! I will not use again.

A truly excellent take-away, Currys, Chop-suey, Chow mein and even their Singapore Noodles are superb! and their service and demeanor is 1st-rate I really couldn't rate Ling Yan higher.

Only bought chips with curry sauce and then noodles chips and curry in a tray. Honestly the noodles smelt like someone had been blowing cigarette smoke all over them and even tasted like cigarette. some of the chips just didnt taste nice atall. Been here loads of times before for the same food, certainly wont be going again

Collected a meal for 4 from this place tonight. Worst Chinese I’ve ever eaten. The food appears to have been cooked some days before, the duck was pre cut, very dry and diced!?! The pancakes were tiny, and the chicken balls were cut in half?? They were also too dry to eat. The sweet and sour sauce was watery and horrible. We had to throw most of it in the bin. Avoid!!!

my Gaffer recommended this place to me and since i live less than a mile away from here i thought i would give it a try. I placed an order for pick up and driving there i was overwhelmed with shear delight and ecstasy. When back in my home and opening the wrapping like a crazed psychopath my joy soon came to an end. The rice tasted like it had been fried by the grain in pva glue, the curry was bang average, but the chips where decent and in terms of quantity 10/10. maybe the rice situation was fluke or an "off day" but thinking back i wish my car had broken down on the way there.

Really disappointed as came here upon recommendation. Worst chinese I have ever had. Chips were the best part about it and they were chippy style chips. Meat was tough, curry was sweet, prawns were tiny. We won't be returning.

Love Ling Yans, great potion sizes and great value for money. Usually loads of people waiting for orders, but well worth the wait.our Daughter in law lives down South and always insists on a Ling Yan when she visits,she even had me take one down south to her.

Have been going to this Chinese takeaway for many years now. It always delivers value for money, piping hot, very generous portions. Staff are always helpful and pleasant. Have tried other takeaways but none seem to compare. My favourite is the special fried rice, hubby loves the special curry. Well worth trying.

Always go here for our Chinese food, half fried rice chips and curry a must! Keep up the good work at ling yans.

We always use ling yan its amazing food. i recommend this to anybody who likes Chinese food and wants a taste of something nice.

Food here is gorgeous. Highly recommend the lemon chicken and Singapore noodles. Have never had a bad meal.

Best Chinese takeaway in boro I ordered 2-3 times a week food is mint staff friends they only do pick up but it's 2 mins from me I phone them place ordered and ready in 10 mins. With Chinese the best ones are always pick up only defo recommend

Everything we have had from here has been excellent. Lovely chicken, beef and duck. All sauces really tasty and i especially like the lemon chicken, it is really fresh, not like the yellow sticky gloop you get in many others. Gorgeous spring rolls, rice and the childcare delicious. Always ring to collect as they are busy. Great food, lovely staff and very clean. 5*

I haven't been here for a few years, why have I stayed away. The food we had was absolutely fantastic. We will be making this our regular Wednesday night takeaway.

Ling Yan is my local Chinese takeaway and it's great. The food is fantastic. I completely agree with one of the other reviewers that the chicken is nice proper chicken. Unfortunately a lot of Chinese takeaways give you that rubbery stuff. The only thing I would say is they are unrealistic with times especially on a weekend. They say 20 mins and when you arrive 20 minutes later you end up stood there for a further 20 minutes. Such a shame they don't deliver either

It's real food its proper chicken. None of that rubbery stuff you get elsewhere. The staff are friendly the place is spotless what more could you ask for.

I have just ordered sweet and sour chicken balls with rice. First of all the chicken balls weren't even balls - more like strips of chicken! Secondly the chicken was very tough couldn't even chew it and thirdly the rice was burnt! This is possibly the worst chinese take away I have had and a complete waste of money! The chips however were very nice.

Cannot eat from any other Chinese without being disappoint as I always find myself saying "it's not as nice as ling yan".Ordered for 5 people on a Friday night (probably the busiest night) told a 20minute wait which is very reasonable. Everything prepared on arrivals just the portion of chips to ensure its still fresh. Love it

This is a nice takeaway restaurant which is always very busy which is usually testament to quality! It's the best of its type in the local area!

I've been here twice and both times I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. Really tasty and fresh. Will definitely be back! A top tip is to phone your order in first as it's always really busy!

We live just near the Ling Yan Chinese,its one of the best Chinese Take Aways Around,we just Ring up order and go and a collect,it is always busy,if we ever are getting a take away,I'm very Wary off other chines take Aways as nothing Compares to your own,we went to Redcar Races a Couple of Weeks Ago,we were going to Saltburn for our Tea but changed our minds,We went to a Chinese in Normandy,,ordered part of what we normally get but on putting it out at home the noodles were the real thin ons,didn't like them the curry wasn't like our normal curry,and I ended up leaving mine,so it was a waste,the Lemon chicken at ling yans is delicious ,and no Where does it like them, so it's got a 5* cleanliness and A 5* food rating from us, I hate it when they close for their hols but just do without,So a Thankyou Ling Yan for lovely Chinese food ,xx

Having used this take away for many years I have recently stopped. The food is now very greasy with lots of cooking oil. My last meal was unedible due to the amount of oil used.

This used to be our local take-away until we moved home a few years ago.The meals were always excellent, so when we were in the area recently we just had to call in and sample the food again. No need to worry. . All the meals we got were superb.

I've used this take away for 17 years and never had a poor meal. Always accurate with the wait time when you phone.

Ling Yan is our local chinese takeaway and,in my opinion, it is absolutely fantastic. I love their Chicken Chow Mein. It is served in a large round tin foil container, which would serve two people easily.It is always busy, so we tend to either, ring the order in for a certain time. then pop round and collect it. Or, on the way to the pub, pop in and give them your order for a certain time, then have a couple of drinks whilst you wait. The chicken dishes always contain very large pieces of chicken breast, unlike other places we have tried, which give you tiny bits of every part of the chicken. We won't go anywhere else . The only problem is...it is shut on a Monday night.

We do regularly get a takeaway from here and we do enjoy the food, however it is a bit expensive and the staff always seem a bit stressed, it,s as if you are being a nuisance by ringing up...maybe they could do with a few more extra staff on busy nights??

ling Yang is our local it is spotless nice staff you can ring up order your food and go and collect it,large portions of chips feed loads,and special fried rice you can put two plates out and the big round dish still seems full have tried many dishes all excellent value the best well done !!!!!!!

The food here is excellent and is always to a high standard. The portions are a good size and always piping hot. You do have a long wait though, even if you ring up.
