Golden Bridge in Reading

Interesting reviews on here and a bit mixed, so I'll base mine on my regular experience only = FANTASTIC! I regularly order the crispy duck and it is the best imho. I have eaten at many restaurants in ChinaTown and this 'for me' is equally as good.. Also usually also go for a House Special in Szechuan Sauce which is great as well. Personally, I've never been disappointed and my go to Chinese.

Golden bridge what's happened to your curry sauce 🤔 even in July it didn't taste as good as normal (different chef??) All other food perfect but curry sauce let's it down now. My go to Chinese even got my brother hooked on your food

Food was piping hot when picked up I have to disagree with what people are saying about workers they are the most friendliest workers and good portions for amazing prices yeah they did go a little overboard on the onions but everything else just perfect 10 out of 10 totally recommend

This is a must try if you can’t eat gluten!! I had told the lady at the front that i couldn’t eat gluten, she told me most of the dishes used potato starch and not flour! Apart from the battered foods, all of the side dishes are gluten free. The woman is so kind and considerate ,do ask her on enquiries about the dishes if u have allergies or are gluten free like me ,she’s so helpful.

This take-away has never let us down. Food is always tasty, hot and full of fresh ingredients.

Wanted only one of the chicken fried rice to be extra spicy but all two were made spicy and my daughter couldn't eat the food even after calling them to confirm this.

Food arrived cold. Most dishes were greasy and fatty … most containers were covered in fat/grease. Wasn’t freshly made and tasted and looked like it was cooked alot earlier/day before and reheated.

Great food glad it was early as we were starving.

I ordered beef fried rice which didn’t taste freshly made the peas had black dots on them and the meat didn’t look fresh and there was an aftertaste I don’t normally have issues but I’m disappointed

All of the food was absolutely lovely - apart from the lemon chicken which was sour beyond being edible! But, other than that the rest of my (large and varied) order was delicious.

really sad to see onions and beansprouts in my one of my 2x chicken chow mein no onions snd no beansprouts (for my kids) but rest of my food order fantastic as always

food was fantastic, piping hot and full of flavour. weirdly it was delivered 45 mins before the restaurant started deliveries (according to Just Eat app). it wasn't a problem and it was so good we didn't mind.

Stay away!!! Rude staff who pretend not to hear you on the phone! Missing items and items ordered that then didn't go with anything! Said they wouldn't send it back out just to get a refund via just eat, no apology, I personally just had egg fried rice to eat which was really great spending £30 to eat rice, my family also had bits missing which didn't make a proper meal. And lastly this is a really rare occasion to order a takeaway and only really happens on special occasions it's ment to be a real treat a luxury even so thanks golden bridge for ruining that 👍

Terrible service. one of my families meal was missing and they didnt want to send it out for us . Vert rude on the phone trying to say they can't hear me all the time. Very disappointed, staying clear of golden bridge now

Absolutely shocking service missed items off the order to then call restaurant for them to pretend they could not hear me on the line, they could because when I mentioned something else suddenly they were responsive! To then be told no we can't send it out I don't have enough drivers will have to get a refund from just eat. I wouldn't expect to sit down at a restaurant to be served random items and told to email someone for a refund,this takeaway for us as a family I am absolute treat, a luxury and doesn't happen often so to say disappointed is a massive understatement.

Second time happened to us in just under a month ordered food like always. Delivery was late and after phoning only to be told rudely that food was on way 30 minutes late. This time waited almost 2 1/2 hours late after phoning only to be told sorry problem with order. Phone tomorrow and get a discount for next order

Never again! the chicken was horrible , definitely wasn’t fresh , my kids hated , the worst £30 i ever spend

Tasty food. Long delivery but didn't realise how far away we were from restaurant and peak time on a Friday eve of payday weekend. Food was worth the wait.

driver was initially early but I wasn't home so she went to another delivery and came back. A really kind gesture and didn't want me to panic about getting back quickly. Really made my day.

We always order Chinese from Golden Bridge. Food is phenomenal every time and always great quality. The menu is easy to use with a lot of choice and the price is very reasonable for the dishes too.

Chicken chow mein was full of slimy chicken skin and no meat

I have had better from elsewhere but not consistently. This is always consistent and hits the spot.

Great food and loved the sauce with the new container! We have always gone back to Golden Bridge and was tasty as usual

Delivery driver rude, accused me for him not finding the place

The estimates delivery was 60-80 minutes. It took 140 minutes in total. The delivery driver apologised which was welcome.

Very good Chinese Takeaway. Loads of choice - price wise similar to most in the surrounding areas. Order earlier in the evening and delivery time is good, later and you could be waiting 90 mins.

I have ordered food by the phone and paid by card, next morning owner started calling me and texting and demanding payment for my order. Told him that I already paid and have no intention to pay twice for it. He become very rude and arrogant on the phone and disturbing me for all day by demanding proof of payment. That is last time I have ordered from there and definitely will not recommend this place to anyone.

The food took 1hour and 45mins to arrive and arrived 25 mins after the latest we estimated time.

Nice quick delivery this evening was estimated 50-65 mins but came in 30-40 which is great. Food was all good no issues at all.

Great restaurant be ordering there again

Before ordering at 6pm it said wait time was 60-80mins once order accepted this changed to 7.40pm and food showed up at 8pm.....2 hour wait!! However, it's the best Chinese in Reading for food quality and taste. Can't knock the food at all, just didn't want to wait 2 hours for it.

Original wait time was an hour but it ended up being 2. Friday night though so understandable. Will def order from them again though! Food was piping hot and very high quality. Not to greasy which is always a risk with a Chinese. Massive portions with a good ratio of meat to veg. Highly recommend

I ordered chicken in a satay sauce. Sauce was tasteless and thin; certainly no peanut flavour. I was expecting a sauce like the one you provide with chicken satay skewers - rich, thick and plenty of peanut flavour. What went wrong??

The customer service and food has definitely improved. It’s been a few years since i came back and all i can say is wow. The portions have always been great but the quality of the food is beautiful. There used to be a rude bloke who was taking the orders but it seems like he’s been replaced. Instead of him it was a wonderful women on the phone, who was kind and polite. She helped guide me though the dishes as i had some allergies. I just want to say a big thank you to her. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again, not the mention the Singapore rice noodles are the most delicious thing i’ve eaten. It’s spicy enough to tingle but not enough to burn ur tongue off, which i love. The taste is indescribable. If anybody wanted a recommendation i would definitely say this.

Ordered at 1813. Advised delivery 1910 to 1930 which is long. Delivered at 1952. Not far off 2 hours from order. Not good enough.

Took ages to deliver. Was all steamed and bland. Not very appetizing

The food was really nice, good value for money and was still hot when it arrived. The overall experience was only spoiled by a delivery time of 1 & 1/2 hours from ordering with a 20 minute delivery window. The irony is that the restaurant is only 10 minutes away. I could have prepared the food, cooked it, eaten it and washed up in that time. .

Smashed it yet again. IMO one of the best Chinese takeaways in Reading. Even better now they've improved the peanut sauce. Top food.

Great as usual. Came early and piping hot n tasty. Only issue we had was that our extra portion of hoisin sauce was missing, however there was a extra portion of chow main we didnt order in there so guessing they added that as a apology for no hoisin?! Dont know but other than that great food as always. My go to Chinese take away and always will be

Another visit to this Takeaway, Another Delicious meal. Chicken Fried Rice and S/S Chicken was lovely. Asked for Spicy Rice and that's exactly what I got. Portions are generous too in my opinion. Service friendly and helpful too. Will return.

The rice was sticky, the hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. The crispy chilli beef was awful tasted of lemon and wasn’t spicy at all. The chicken tasted odd and the overall quality was not what I expected. I found it all bland and not enough seasoning.

The food just did not taste great

I always order from golden bridge but todays was shocking didn’t taste very nice and the curry sauce smelt like flour I guess it hadn’t been cooked out properly, not sure if new people have taken over but the food quality has dropped massively I will now be looking for a different Chinese option

We’ve ordered from here a few times recently. The first was soo fresh, crisp and flavourful. But since then it’s been ok just never as yummy as the first time. And this purchase of fried rice was a small portion and not the same yummy quality as previous orders. This time is the same standard as all other takeaways in the area. We were just spoilt with the first order we made a few months ago!

The food was amazing as always, the people there are so kind and generous. This is the only place i go to for a Chinese takeaway.

Really pleasantly surprised as recently years of Chinese haven’t blown me away. However, everything was on point with the takeaway, partner especially loved the banana fritter and he’s extremely fussy, curry was delicious and free prawn crackers. Food was on point
