Sadly gone down hill since covid. Expensive and no taste. They used to give free items as well that’s stopped, not even free prawn crackers, no wonder there’s never a queue any more. Greed has taken over

First time ordering from here today as our usual chinese has become way too expensive and after tasting this food I really wish I had used it before. Food was delivered piping hot very generous portions and good quality ingredients. Would highly recommend and as an added bonus what we ordered would have been £15 more expensive from the place we previously used. Update 5 years on what happened? Vile food (slop) cold just disgusting, wow talk about letting standards slip and taking the p*ss out of people. Avoid

This is our local, regular takeaway. The prices are a little more than other Chinese takeaways nearby but the food is always good so we’re happy to pay it. However, we had a takeaway for 6 people last week and spent more than £70 and another this week for 7 people that cost £91 and we didn’t even get a complimentary bag of prawn crackers - seriously, when you’re spending that kind of money it’s the little touches like including prawn crackers that go a long way…especially when they probably cost them pence to produce. Very disappointed

Have used this takeaway for 3 years always good, today, cold egg fried rice without even a hint of egg, undercooked chips, chicken curry was good, chicken balls good. spring rolls-missing, certainly not worth the £15 paid. Will not use again

Food was luke warm to cold. For something that had literally just been cooked should not be that cold after such a short time after being "cooked". Prawn crackers had an after taste of oil, they wasn't even that oily to touch but you could taste it! Meat, Curry and Chips teasted like they had been microwaved from the night before. 1st time trying this place, Won't be back.

I’ve been buying from here for a couple of years now never really disappoints! I would say portion sizes are smaller but really tasty and is still filling.

Very poor! I ordered take away. House Fried noodles. 1st worry it was ready in about 4 minutes. But thought must not be busy. When i got the food home it could only be described at slop! Meat/rice was undercooked and the veg was boiled to a inche of its life! I can safely say the rice never saw a wok! Plus i think they used water was the garvey at a Cost of £7.00 When i took it back the aggressive cook tried to say i had ordered the wrong dish. So she did not have to refund the meal. The place used to be lovely but in the last 4 months or so gone right down hill. £1.50 / £2 put up on every meal and the quilty of ingredients has gone massively down. If i was you i would drive down to Laylands!

Food WAS amazing came Still hot!! Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time and was here super fast on a Saturday evening. Going to be my new local Chinese!! The lady that delivered was super lovely also!!

Terrible, terrible, terrible experience. Ordered food at counter and was told usual 20 minute wait. Lots of other people awaiting orders too. Lots to raised voices coming through from behind the kitchen curtain and it was apparent that they were frantically trying to cook more orders than they were capable of producing and it was totally chaotic what dishes came out of the kitchen. After 40 minutes waiting I asked how much longer my order would take and the "reception" lady said not long now... I waited another 7 minutes so thstt was nearly an hour from originally placing my food order. Not acceptable. The dish itself Singapore Noodles was dry, luke warm and had mainly veg in it and hardly any meat. I will not be using this Chinese takeaway again and would recommend that other people think twice about using this establishment.

Best Chinese in the area. We have tried most around Northampton and this one is very consistent. Most of the time the food is perfect, fresh and tasty, sometimes food can be late and sometimes food doesn’t taste as good, but that’s one in ten times. Delivery driver lady is so nice very friendly Owner is also nice when you go in for collections. They also give free food with some orders over certain amounts

Food here is ok. Not amazing, but ok. Do not get delivery. Takes hours to arrive. Staff extremely rude. I personally would not order again from here.

Have been ordering from here about once a week for 3 years (about£30), never again. Monday ordered 5pm delivery, pork foo yeung was 2 slithers of uncooked pork fat, half handful beansprouts, block of scrambled egg in beige water, the beef chop suey was 2 pieces of beef, 2 pieces of carrot half handful of beansprouts in beige water, the salt and chilli ribs did not even cover the bottom of the foil tray, were black and came off bone like wooden splinters, the chicken curry had one piece of chicken, the curry sauce was barely thicker than water and tasteless. I cannot believe they let 'food' like this leave the kitchen let alone deliver it. So disappointed.

This is a great takeaway! Has 5 star hygiene and having been in there in person, I saw the place was spotless. Very friendly staff and very nice food. We've been there twice for collection as they don't deliver to us but we won't be going anywhere else, it's that good!

Really disappointed to have tried Golden Bird on recommendation from neighbours only to be severely let down. The food is tasteless except for salt - presumably to add some dimension of flavour. We went for the ‘munchie box’ which included chicken balls, ribs, prawn toast, spring rolls and chicken wings with chilli salt chips. This was ‘served’ in a pizza box, all mixed together - and evidently the entire lot had been shoved in the deep fat fryer all together and cooked as one. Greasy, salty, gross! The chow mein we ordered was tasteless and slimy - it looked grey. The rice was horribly dry and just not enjoyable. Very bitter to have spent £30 on this shambles. Never again.

me and my partner order from here all the time its our go to Takeaway,Everything about this place is amazing ! food is always fresh and hot exactly what we ordered. the service is super friendly although delivery sometimes (depends) takes awhile but when arrives is worth it GREAT TEAM !!!

It's not our closest Chinese takeaway bit the food is good. I have found it will always be ready 10 - 15 mins after when they say it will be ready. Oh and they don't do free prawn crackers so make sure you order them

Very good food and you're never going to wait long

Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Was not greasy at all. After trying many Chineses in the area this will now be my regular scores a 5/5 from me!

We really enjoy 95% of the food we order - and we're local so it makes sense. But if they ever say it's a "30 minute wait"... Double it! You're left standing there waiting for collection whilst they just ignore you till the foods ready.

DO NOT USE !!!! Not only lied to about delivery, after waiting two hours, lady confessed that food had no even been cooked after a third time of calling then she rudely hung up on my polite conversation! Needless to say will recommend all to stay away! Have to say previous experience was very positive. If they had explained initially that there was a a delivery issue we would have collected! Very poor, extremely rude!

Ordered this evening, fantastic. No complaints. Called at 5pm as had been told the waiting times are sometimes long, however the phone was answered straight away and was able to go and collect 25 minutes later. The food was hot tasty and a real treat. Overly happy as recieved complimentary spring rolls as our order came over £15, what a bonus! Will definitely be back again and highly recommended. Time keeping was absolutely shocking. My order was said to take 1 hour 30 minutes, on arrival I was told an 30 minutes extra.

Best Chinese we have ever had, by far. Food came quickly, was piping hot, and tasted amazing. They even threw in a free starter. Cannot recommend enough!

So me and my husband have been to many Chinese restaurants since moving in together. This was by far the best we have ever had!!! We will definitely order from Golden Bird again. The chicken balls were different but delicious! They were more like strips which was nice. The plain chow mein had a great texture, the sweet and sour sauce had a nice flavour, chips were ace! The egg fried rice was nice and the sweet and sour Cantonese style dish was delicious! We also had a chicken dish added in which again was lovely. The meal didn’t feel heavy like they have at previous places. Great communication over the phone even though we ordered, cancelled then reordered: cash only payment. The food was delivered within the hour which I must admit I wasn’t expecting being that its valentines day and the delivery lady was lovely. Great chinese, can’t wait to order again !!!

Had a joint meal with our friends and was recommended the Munchie Box. It was tasty! We shared this between two. There must of been a lot of salt, felt like i was hungover when i woke up 🤷‍♀️ so dehydrated. But would go again for a cheat night.

Visited golden bird for the first time today and it will be our last. Firstly they got our order wrong and the amount of food you get for the price is poor compared to where we normally go. Food was ok that we did eat...

We ring the order through and it’s ready when we get there(10-15 minutes) . Food hot and tasty, will make food a little hotter/milder if ou ask. So it’s just as you like. Will order again soon.💕

Have been using Golden Bird most weeks since it opened and have been happy with both the service and food until my last visit, which will be my last! Having been delivered in the usual fast way by the friendly delivery lady, we found one...

I have bought from here before, but on Friday 11th January, I decided to order for delivery instead of collecting from the restaurant. Delivery was very fast and the food was piping hot. We shall definitely order from here again.

i recently had takeaway, chicken curry singapore rice.. felt very ill the next day.... spoke to my brother today, he had also tried it... he felt ill too. bad diarrhea don't put put chemicals in your food...! msg ,,etc.. it not needed. lots of people...

Normally this Chinese never lets me down but me and my sister have both ordered from here this week and have been very disappointed with the delivery. Saturday they took over an hour and a half to deliver her food and tonight mine hasn't even turned up with no phone call or anything to explain why. Very very disappointed
