The worst chinese food ever ordered, chips, chicken balls and wings looked like they was cooked 3 times previously due to the colour of them. Rice had a skin over the surface of it and curry was so lumpy like it had been sat for weeks in the fridge and re-heated various times. guy asked to have the food back (probably to give to some other poor sod) 'just eat' advised us not to give the food back but to take pictures / video of us disposing of it and sending it in for refund... guy at the chinese said if he didn't get the food back he would not allow the refund to be processed and compared it to buying a TV.. safest thing to eat looked like the prawn crackers but didn't want to even risk that. £50 down the drain, do NOT order from here. ppl who give this place a good review are smoking crack.

Had x2 Singapore chow mains, and the x2 large pancake rolls, walk in pay and take home. Pancake rolls both burnt one end..... Singapore chowmein 1 was hot, spicy and tasty , the other one ,not so spicy ?

The worst Chinese food I have ever had!! I normally use the other Chinese in the area but thought I would give it a try - Big Mistake As a fish and chip shop too you would expect to see food on show on a Saturday night - just a couple of pies that looked like they had been there all day. No chips cooking. Owners young children behind the counter trying to entertain themselves. Order placed and upon checking the menu on the way out charged incorrectly after having been told they only accept CASH Special Chow Mein tasted overly salty and burnt. Chunks of green peppers and other veg used to fill it out. Threw it in the bin - which gor someone who won't waste food is really difficult to do.

I wouldn’t normally write a review like this. I am so disappointed and shocked at the food I was given. I ordered nearly £50 worth of food and I felt robbed. The chips my gosh they looked grey/green/black, undercooked and full of grease. They were not edible. Vegetable chow mein had zero flavour and pure greasy. The egg fried rice had no egg in it. The fish was ok and the duck was nice. Worst takeout I’ve ever eaten in my life. It’s been going down hill for over a year now. Something needs to get sorted there or they will lose custom. Staff are absolutely lovely though. I feel bad writing it but this is my honest review. I hope they change it and get there food back to how it used to taste because it was very nice 👌🏽

Had chicken fried rice - was good , chicken ball and sweet and sour saur - excellent, sweet and sour chicken hong kong style - delicious and beef chow mean- lovely - will be back !!

Chow Mein virtually tasteless and Fried rice had zero flavour or seasoning.. Beef in ginger and spring onion was more onions than anything and the sauce was so watered down with big slices of discoloured ginger.. probably the worst Chinese takeaway we’ve ever experienced.. Prawn toast was ok..

The food is delicious and fresh as always, and the wait times are not excessive, allowing for a smooth flow of customers through the restaurant. If you enjoy eating noodles, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Worst food I have ever tasted, first fish and chips, fish was full of fat, chips were raw and greesy....took it back and asked for a replacement second lot wasn't any better....avoid

So a few positives, I love that delivery is quick and the food is piping hot. I like that they always take note of the special comments . The only reason I have given 4 out of 5 stars is because the amount of salt in the food is enough to sink a ship! I ate this food over 4 hours ago and have drank 4 pints of water, I still feel dehydrated. My mouth feels like I have been doing salt water swishes that long all I can still taste is salt. My advise would be to really cut down on the salt , one it’s bad for your health , that being said if you’re having take out then that’s a given but there is adding salt and then adding that much that there is no taste to the food because if is so overpowering. Your food I imagine is very tasty without all of that unnecessary salt so please cut it down and stop ruining it. If you can cut it by 50% we will order from you again because everything else is great but in the interim I will protect my heart .

We visited a few times towards the end of last year and the chips were amazing! Freshly cooked and really crispy! Really thought we had found a great place! However,we have been 3 times in Jan and unfortunately the chips are not fresh and hard/ uncooked. Today we ordered battered sausage and the sausage had no colour,the chips were hard & greasy ….the whole order went into the bin! I’m not sure if it’s because we are visiting when it first opens and we are getting lunchtime reheated chips but they certainly are not fresh. Maybe changed hands as we used to be served by ladies and the chips were great? It’s a shame as it’s local but not really edible!

First time using this takeaway was please with the meal, very tasty, friendly staff and will definitely use again - great menu lots to choose from.

I wish the wouldn't double / refry their chips. First fry chips are very nice second fry spoil them.

The Best Chinese in Northampton, not greasy, great food , good portions and restaurant staff very accommodating to remove certain ingredients. Our go to Chinese never a bad batch of food

It used to be good especially the chips, but the last few times it's been awful. All the food is over cooked, dry and bland. The curry sauce is like water, chips dry and hard, chicken like rubber. Did you guys get new chefs from weatherspoons old staff? Definitely won't be returning shame as it was an amazing takeaway 6 months ago

Food is awesome. Would definitely recommend. All staff friendly, delivery guy friendly and keeps Good social distance. Easier to order directly through the shop than just eat (cash only atm) but we always round it up to leave a small tip for the fresh fast delivery. Food not greasy like some I've been to. New owners are doing a fab job.

First time here, bought fish & chips. Great food, really crispy and fresh. Kids loved it too, service was friendly with a smile. Will definitely come again. Didn't try the Chinese menu this time but looks good value.

Dreadful meal. Literally the worst Chinese we have had. Such a shame as some of the reviews recently have been good. Crispy duck super greasy, pancakes shoved in box and all broken and no hoi sin or plum sauce. Completely burnt and greasy sweet and sour balls with chewy inedible meat. Seaweed that was soggy. Sorry but I cannot recommend at all.

Our local chinese was taken over recently (January 2020) as the previous proprietors ran it into the ground. I was one of many to abandon it. The food is now FANTASTIC, along with a brand new menu. The service is also great.

Sorry no good anymore , food is tasteless and often cold before you get it home will certainly not be using them again such a shame as the last owners we great these new ones are rude un friendly such a shame will be going else where from now on .

I have been to the Pearl House many many times over the years because they supply excellent quality food every time.

Chips not cooked fish cake was like rubber slow service avoid this chippy just horrible food

Just ordered 1 jumbo sausage, 2 small chips, 2 fish cakes , steak pie and curry sauce. The chips, fish cakes and pie were bagged up, then the jumbo sausage went in the fryer, waited over 20mins, got home and the chips were so pale, hardly cooked. Over 8 miles away so I ate the pie, all the chips were thrown! Never again! ! Another customer lost!

Been coming here for years, my favourite takeaway place, just changed hands and food is absolutely vile. Nothing enjoyable about my meal and food left me feeling so sick. So disappointed, would give 0 stars if I could, never going there again

Very disappointed ordered at 5.50 to pick up at 8, arrived at 7.55 presented my card to be told cash only, food was luke warm and obvious it was cooked some time previous to 7.30. The food after we reheated was absolutely tasteless in fact I would say one of worst I have tasted.

We have been patrons of this takeaway for over 12 years, and wouldn't go anywhere else for our food. Excellent value for delicious food-our favourite is the 'SB' Special Banquet for 2 which is fantastic value for money and tastes amazing. Highly recommend this lovely chippie with its fabulous and friendly staff.

Have used The Pearl House very many times over the years for both fish & chips and chinese food. The staff are lovely and get to know the regulars so they call them by name, and are very obliging. We have also used them for very large groups (fish & chip supper at a couple of community dos) and they have been fantastic with the quality maintained throughout, and for a large chinese takeaway when we found ourselves with rather more people in the house than our planned tea could be stretched to.

Very friendly and very good food

I needed food for 25 people so I called mid morning (when they were officially closed) and the lady was very helpful. On arriving to collect the food, they were friendly and it was prepared on time. I would definitely go here again.

Well recommended bought fish & chip here many times even when we have our f/c suppers at the working mans club & they supply up to twenty or more portions in one go.The shop is always clean & tidy & the owners are always very polite & obliging.

Chinese food is great here the fish and chips are decent enough. I like the welcome you get too, always friendly.

Always always greeted with a smile by the ladies at this shop, food is fresh and made whilst you wait. The chips hadn't been so good for a while, but I'm pleased to say that they're now back up to the regular standard!

Pearl House is a Chinese and Fish and Chip takeaway, the staff here are all so lovely! Very friendly and always guaranteed to make you smile. We were recommended to try the fish and chips here and we weren't disapponted! The food is freshly cooked and big portions, it's not greasy at all. We like breaded fish rather than battered and they were very happy to accommodate our request unlike some fish and chip places. It's a place used mainly by locals, I think it's because its an unknown jewel. You can call and order in advance or drop by and wait. The Chinese food is good but I think that their fish and chips are far superior.

we clearly stated sweet and sour HK Style and got chicken balls instead. egg fried rice had no egg and asked for curry sauce in a tub (extra 55p) to my surprise when i got home looking forward to what should've been a mouth-watering meal gave me the feeling of being let down. called the the shop to complain and she's says chicken ball are are my mistake but i dont how you can confuse sweet & sour chicken HK style with chicken balls and glorified ketchup. have a feeling i was given a canceled order food or some type of left over Seriously i would avoid

Working with several Chinese colleagues myself, I think many people mistake the culturally direct nature of Chinese people for rudeness. In this case they couldn't be more wrong! They always refer to me by name and are the nicest takeaway staff I have ever met. I can't say a bad word about the food either!

I agree with the person about staff being rood ... the food is not good .

You will be better off swerving this place. Staff are rude and chips are pre heated. Not much going for this place
