⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5+ Stars) If you're searching for the best Chinese food in Northampton, look no further than Oriental Garden Restaurant! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Food Quality The menu is a delightful journey through authentic Chinese cuisine, and every dish I tried was nothing short of spectacular. The flavors are vibrant, and the ingredients are fresh, making each bite a true delight. The Peking Duck was perfectly crispy, and the Kung Pao Chickenwas bursting with spices that danced on the palate. The dim sum selection was also impressive, with delicate dumplings that were steamed to perfection. Service The service at Oriental Garden is exceptional. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. Their prompt service ensured that our experience was smooth and enjoyable. Ambiance The ambiance is a wonderful blend of traditional and modern decor, creating a relaxing space to enjoy a meal with friends or family. Whether you're there for a casual dinner or a special occasion, the setting is perfect. Value for Money For the quality of food and service provided, the prices are very reasonable. You truly get great value for your money, and the generous portion sizes mean you won’t leave hungry! Conclusion Overall, Oriental Garden Restaurant is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Northampton. With its mouth-watering dishes, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere, I can't recommend it highly enough. I would give it **5+ stars** without a second thought! If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and indulge in some of the finest Chinese cuisine around!

15 of us just spent a wonderful Thursday evening in the restaurant. The service was speedy & impeccable and the food tasted authentic & delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes including fresh lobsters, scallops, sea bass, prawns, chicken & vegetarian dishes. Portion sizes were very generous and the staff were very happy to personalise to our tastes - extra chilli & garlic & they made very tasty vegetarian dishes for the fussy vegetarian in our group! We finished the meal with crispy banana fritters and Irish coffees! An amazing feast enjoyed by all. Thank you team Oriental Garden for a lovely evening.

A bit of a hidden gem, a great selection of Dim Sum available and mostly of good value. The food quality was good and the fried noddles were excellent. However, the service was mixed depending on the staff. Overall, recommended, there are no other dim sum restaurant in area , nearest is in Milton Keynes.

The place itself isn’t bad. A small Chinese restaurant with a not bad cuisine I will say. We opted for all you can eat menu. The food range can be a bit much more varied for the price they asking. It’s a bit more expensive than Mandarin buffet but there you have the choice to choose whatever you want and the variety there is much more then here where they just brings you the menu and allows you to chose 5 main courses. No deserts included in the all you can eat menu which agin is a big NO comparing to the other Chinese restaurants. Toilets are clean what’s a good thing. Staff friendly what is good too. That’s why is 3⭐️ . Otherwise there will be only 2 for the food range.

Consistently the best Chinese food I’ve eaten. My wife, from Guangxi, and her family all agree, it’s better at authentic Chinese dishes than westernised Chinese food. However, if you must stick to egg fried rice and sweet and sour pork, they’ll do that perfectly well also.

Went here for advertised buffet. There was no buffet, had to tick items on a list. Don't go for this option, your forced to order more than you would on the normal menu, not offered. £28 each before drinks. £78 total. Food was mediocre, we ordered vegetables to go with main course. Veg never arrived. Servers weren't very friendly. This was not an enjoyable experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I really don’t like doing this but there are occasions when it just can’t be avoided. We ordered a takeaway for collection for 4 people. The total bill was £98, seemed very high but we had good expectations because of the reviews and photos posted online. Wow, what a disappointment. Just look at the photos. Old dry meat. An embarrassment to Cantonese BBQ! Other dishes also had dry, old meat, covered in sauce with no flavour, completely plastered with garlic that again had no flavour. I would seriously avoid this restaurant. Expensive, low quality, inedible food. An establishment running for over 50 years in Northampton, such a shame.

First visit to this restaurant and we found it perfect. Welcomed by friendly staff, had the system explained to us and off we went. Yes you use a tick-box ordering system to decide your starters, second course and main, but this does not limit how much you can eat. For example if you enjoyed your starters and want more before the next course then just ask as many times as you like. Every course we were served was piping hot and fresh. Each course served is of very large portions so beware. The place is very clean and tidy and the staff are not on you to rush, which is great. Another good sign about the quality of food was that there were quite a few Chinese families in there dinning. If you like plenty of flavour and great food you need to visit this place when in Northampton. Another thing that made the evening enjoyable was that one of the staff members took the time to try and teach us how to use chop sticks, which we failed miserably.

Visited Oriental Garden for my wife’s birthday and was greeted warmly by the staff. The menu is extensive with lots of choice and it was incredible to see so many authentic dishes. We had the mixed platter to start and each component was of very high quality. The satay chicken was out of this world. How many times have you had dry, tasteless chicken- well not here. The prawn toast, seaweed were equally delicious. Our main courses were of such high quality, I had three meats on a bed of rice and my wife had a stuffed tofu fish dish. The portions were extremely generous and we ended up taking some home to enjoy the next day. Without a doubt the best Chinese restaurant. Highly recommended if you want authentic Chinese food.

Didn't plan to visit this Chinese Restaurant but a friend and I were in the town for the first time to see a show and wanted some food before going to the theatre. We found this place via google maps. We hadn't booked but were able to be seated straight away, first impressions of the restaurant were clean and well presented. Service was good, food was timely and extremely tasty. This meal will go up there as one of my best Chinese meals I've had. The restaurant was averagely busy when we arrived (which was fairly early) but by the time we left it was almost full, usually a very good indicator of a good restaurant! Only negative was the mandatory 10% service charge, please just add 10% to the prices so it's clear selling!! I'd visit again if in the area.

Great place to eat Chinese food. It’s long been a place where Chinese people go to eat, so it isn’t aimed at English tastes like some restaurants do. Quality of the food is very good. I’ve been for dim-sum and their selection is good. My go to restaurant in the area is Taipan in Milton Keynes and this place is on a par. Some dim sum dishes I prefer at Taipan and others I prefer here. However, for my most recent visit we opted for dishes from their main menu and this is where I was most impressed. Everything we had was excellent. The meat dishes were great and I highly recommend their char siu, crispy belly pork (then portion here is much bigger than at Taipan and it’s less salty too), and their roast duck is also a winner (I’d go so far as to say it’s not far off the standard of Four Seasons and Goldmine in London’s Bayswater area, both renowned globally for their roast duck). We had a variety of vegetables and noodles, all were good. It’s a child friendly place and there’s a multi storey car park opposite, so parking is plentiful. Definitely recommended.

Imagine going out for dinner and being told what the restaurant thought you should order. This is what happens here. A marketed “all you can eat” is actually an “I’ll tell you what you are eating”. “ We will pick for you”. It would be much better if they came over and said we recommend a party of 4 order 4 dishes between them from the menu. Over letting you choose items and then say .. nahh we will tell you what you’re having. The manager needs to learn customer service skills. The staff are unaware about alcohol and therefore a clear training area. Mandatory service charge , as many reviews say means they do not care if good service is given or not. The service feels unwelcoming and rushed. We will be sticking to New Sunrise for this reason and will not be back here again.

Not particularly happy to be honest. They told us price wasn’t increased for New Year’s Eve , it was . They also added a 10% ‘mandatory’ service charge for a service that wasn’t anything special. (Table of 13 btw with 5 under 10s). We were also wanting the leftovers not to go to waste so offered to only pay for what we had so could take the rest to a homeless shelter .. which they miraculously made out to be more than the all you can eat. Which we know is wrong. Overpriced canteen style. Won’t go back. As I can’t reply I will edit here - *Yes we knew the price when we sat down but you had already taken a £75 deposit and told the lead booker no different price for NYE on the telephone. Could hardly not stay. We also worked out the price ourselves from the al a carte when we ordered and it was a tad less than the £270 and like you said you didn’t even bring everything we ordered hence why we don’t believe your maths. Almost £50 on a mandatory service charge as well. Shocking.

We choose from the la carte menu, there is also an all you can eat menu where they give you a sheet and pen and you mark up on that you want, we saw many people went for this option. Ages for any food to arrive and by the time we got to the mains the kitchen was closing. Mains, 10 people and they only bought out 6 of the dishes, this meant the birthday boy was without his meal. Finally after chasing part came out by which time rice and noodles were cold. It was impossible to get drinks refreshed and staff were disinterested. Such a shame as previous visits had been great. The price has increased so much and 10% on top meant this meal was a rip off. Spoilt the birthday family gathering.

Had dim sum here with family. Food quality were enough to give an illusion to westerners that they are eating Chinese food though. Environment was satisfactorily clean. Radish cake (蘿蔔糕) was too meshy and not much fillings. Yang zi mango dessert (楊枝甘露) was withOUT any pomelo or grapefruit; nothing more than little mango and sweetened fluid. Other dim sums were satisfactory. One staff was really rude to tell us we should order ONLY once, not to order additional items even for desserts. I'm sure she showed the best attitude ever throughout UK. Not the best experience across midlands. But within one hour drive you can surely find better in Nottingham, Birmingham or Leicester.

This is a great takeaway. There isn’t delivery and it is cash only. There is an ATM nearby at the Tesco Express. We always get our Chinese from here even though we moved further away! Great, hot food and good portions. This time we had Beef with Green Pepper and Black Bean sauce (gluten free, just be sure to ask for no soy sauce and gluten free), Hot and Spicy Chicken Chow Mein and Hot and Spicy King Prawn Chow Mein.
