Went there for a quick bite. Good food. Great local place to grab something to eat 🙂

Ok, where do I start. The place was fairly busy, but found a table easily, it had been used and not been cleaned. We had the roast beef, also got extra roast potatoes, and cauliflower and cheese. The two very thin slices of beef, was tough, and on the menu photo, it shows three slices, not two, also, no jug of gravy, like in the photo, but then it's for illustration only. The roast potatoes on the plate where well done, maybe sat around for a while, but then the extra potatoes where actually fine, and was a large portion, as well as the cauliflower. All the veg, as far as I can tell, are frozen. No one came back to check if everything was ok. Well, it's food, that's it.

Stopped by to quench some thirst and have a bite to eat. Staff were very accommodating, great beer selection. Food was good for the price and location.

We visited today for a friends birthday meal. I got the chicken tikka masala and it was the best curry I’ve ever had. Our server Daniel went above and beyond. Couldn’t do enough for us and made sure we were all satisfied with our food orders.

Tried to book a table and was told.on the phone that they were not taking bookings today, it was walk-ins only. Drove 20 mins to pub only to be told all the tables were booked?!

Went there today, 18th Dec, ordered, egg and chips, and 2 side dishes of chips, when the food arrived, we received a plate with an egg and a load of chips on, we waited and waited for the 2 side dishes of chips to arrive, so had to ask for them, but was told that the plate with the egg and chips, was actually 3 lots of chips, seriously ! So they had to bring us 2 more side dishes of chips, which by the way werent cooked properly, some were a bit white, I know the food isnt great here, but really, they got that simple order wrong!

Been here before no real issues previously, until tonight. Firstly our service and server was lovely, no faults there. However ordered drinks and were given dirty glasses that looked like they hadn’t been washed. Then ordered food, yeah it’s pub grub, not expecting miracles but food looked like it had been slung shot across the kitchen on the plate. A bun with the patty slide most the way out, bacon missing. And the taste was absolutely disgusting, spat out and never finished or touched anymore absolutely shocking food. Honestly think my burger patty was someone’s old flip flop they’ve had for years with some melted cheese ontop.

Nice little bar, go every Sunday with my mother and girlfriend. Good atmosphere and great place to watch the match. Food isn't so good but I won't mark it down too much for that because it's a Hungry Horse chain pub and you know what you're getting there, let's face it. Be nice if they had a couple of decent IPAs as that's my preference, the one on offer is not great. Staff are great though and I enjoy going.

Our family consisting of me and my wife, our Daughters and their partners and our grandchildren had been to see Santa in Newcastle and wanted to finish the day off with a nice meal. The gold Medal has never let us down, we all enjoyed a lovely meal in friendly surroundings. The staff are very nice and they interact with the young grandchildren, which is nice. Everyone left with fully tummies after a lovely day out.

Great family bar staff are amazing. Nicole is particularly amazing without two girls and Dan is always a welcoming and friendly face.

The gold medal has something for everyone. Comfortable venue and very fairly priced. Serves comfort food which is suitable for all of the family. Better than a take-away.

Cannot fault the food and service, exceptional variety. Sarah was so friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend, and will be returning very soon... A lovely warm environment!

Had breakfast here on Tuesday 15th October. Tried Ravensworth Arms first but no service then came here. Lovely staff warm atmosphere and lovely breakfast. My first choice next time.

Great food and lovely staff! Normally I am old school and prefer face to face service, but, since my mum is hard of hearing, we used the Greene King app which was more convenient and less stressful as her hearing aid tunes in to the wrong sound frequency which can be very stressful when talking to other people who don’t know she’s hard of hearing. With the app, we ordered our meals with no bother and, even better, we could pay via PayPal! The staff were very friendly and welcoming as well as understanding of my mum’s hearing difficulties. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back.

This is a lovely bar and restaurant. The staff are so hard working and above all friendly with a smile on their faces..we visit here a few times a month and we are never disappointed. The steak and ale pie with chips and peas is outstanding!! Massive you can’t finish it but by husband tries his best!! Please visit you won’t be disappointed

We went on Friday as a family really busy nd food was flying out the kitchen food smelt amazing nd looked great we got a couple the new burgurs to try nd they was spot on hot the right spot we saw one chef bring food out he brought arse to help the staff nd even thought was busy he was so polite nd spent a few minutes talking to us asking what are plans for the night was Jonathan is a lovely lad nd couldn’t fault any staff deffo be coming bk next week

Would not go for food again, two adults and two child. Burger was cheap chewy meat. Mixed grill most got left, sausages horrible, frozen chips, egg over done, meat wasnt that good. Children's meals wasn't upto much either. Staff was lovely, Shame about the food.

Food and service was absolutely brilliant with cracking deals to help with the cost of living. Food came it was red hot and to a high standard. I Can't fault it also get down for match days one of the best bar in gateshead for atmosphere!!!!!! 5 stars

I live quite local to this place, but even if I didn't I would definitely travel for the food and drinks on offer, food is always of a high standard, good selection of drinks available and the staff are really professional and helpful despite it gett8ng really busy at times. Feel well looked after everytime My family goes there and always feel I've had value for money

Great place to drop in with the family and watch live football. Plenty of TV's and lots of space to sit down and relax. The staff were really helpful and the atmosphere during the game was excellent. The food was really nice and the service was quick. The kids really enjoyed it and already asking to go back.

My daughter asked to go for her birthday meal. Three times I went to the bar to order but every time they did not have what we wanted. Shame we used to go here a lot.

Updated 16/08/2024.... what is happening to this pub so see photos of a pint of coke, serviced not even full, a disgrace!!! SF chicken see picture was horrible, cheap and nasty piece of chicken, clearly from frozen product, one bite, if wasn't a BOGOFF deal, ask for a refund, dry and tasteless SF chicken. Would be five stars on food and drinks, but let down by inconsiderate smokers... We started off seating at the back area and smoker out of all empty seats came sat next to us so we moved in side for a meal, we spent well over £70 on meals and drinks everything no issues, but with the gorgeous hot weather we all decided to have more drinks outside on the side balcony with the fresh air and sun in our face signs on benches saying no smoking and then annoying a chav family of 4 came over sat next to us and ruined our experience by smoking Vapes all 4, smoking or steaming wafting over onto our table no consideration for other around a family of 2 left too, so I spoke with the manager who did nothing but saying Vaping was accepted only, not cigerattes, so we drank up and left to go elsewhere to finish our night off. Please note Vaping has tabacco on them also which we were smelling, and invasion of our health and atmosphere turning a beauty night into breathing second hand smoke. Thought we were in a train tunnel with the face full of vape.

Really good experience here. It's not Michelin star food but it's very decent pub grub for a great price plus 15% off with BLC. The food was great (burger, roasts and mac n cheese). Loads of meat on the Sunday roasts. Service was really good, we were made aware there may be a wait as it's busy and they were apologetic for us. One of our servers Daniel was super attentive and friendly, making sure everything was good, having a bit crack and apologising again for the wait.

Food is lovely. Bar is nice and clean and presentable. Staff are very friendly and the bar seemed very well ran.

They had a meal deal for £8.00, which consisted of a curry and pint when we were there. Can't get better value than that! There was also a great choice of reasonably priced menu items. We definitely will be going back at some point.

I booked my football teams presentation at the gold medal and after speaking g to thr management team of Ronnie and Stacey they gave us a private area with a large screen for the team to be in. They were ever so helpful and renamed for a PowerPoint presentation to be shown on a large TV screen. They also provided some outdoor inflatables for the girls to play on. An added extra touch which we were so thankful for. The staff on the day Nicole, Jacob, David, Sarah and Daniel were all excellent. They were attentive, helpful, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They are an asset to the pub. Apologies if I missed anyone else who was working out. Overall it was an excellent afternoon f9r all the girls and parents and we will definitely use it again next year or for any other occasions we plan. Well done and thank you

Love it when a place is on point with their allergens. I like the fact you can look through the allergens tablet yourself at your table. The server mentioned the allergy on the check and the server who came to the table even mentioned it as well, it's nice being able to go somewhere and being taken seriously and not leave feeling like a burden. The food was lovely and for the price as well I really can't grumble.

Ask for a Sunday roast and for my surprise the turkey meat was frozen and from the tin basically the meat was not turkey meat but processed meat from the tin if that was not bad enough my daughter found plastic in her curry never again.

It's a nice place to spend some time with friends and family. Very clean. When people leave the table, someone is always ready to clean it right away. 5 stars on that. Food is OK. We order a steak and fish and chips. The stake was good, pretty tasty. The chips were also nice, very well fried. The fish, even not bad, could be better. A bit dry. The lemon with it was almost dry. I like to put the juice of the lemon on my fish and chips. Over all, was a good experience and probably will return.

Food was lovely, thankfully in before the football so was quite a peaceful visit. Staff are attentive but not constantly walking past or asking if everything is okay. The server Daniel was lovely and very plesent and easy to get along with.

Young waitress brought our food the knife and fork had dried food on them also incorrect food was brought out when I explained to waitress under her breath she said for ffk sake I address this she denied it her face went red wouldn't go bk
