To be clear, staff in the restaurant and the bar were friendly and attentive. Pub was nice. However, the food was appalling. Most options were off the venue - no soup, no salmon left. 2x starters really poor quality. One arrived cold, the other was essentially toast with some burnt vegetables at the side for £8. Tofu and noodles (main) took forever to arrive and were pretty much inedible - tofu was fried to cruton point, noodles weren't properly cooked - £18. It was the only veggie main course still available on the menu apart from £15 lettuce, sweetcorn and tomoato salad. Would have been better to have ordered a pot noodle at the shop across the road and boiled some water. I know there aren't many evening options in the evening in Glenridding which means this restaurant remains busy, but for the prices, must do better. Sorry to say, this was the worst meal I've paid for in England for a very long time. It's a pity because the pub and hotel are nice. The food is letting the place down.

Very poor Sunday Lunch Two people. 20 min wait for food. Order at bar. Quick to take order Arrived at 15:00 2 small slices of tough turkey crown, half a carrot , quarter of parsnip cut lengthways, tablespoon of sweet corn with two random 10p sizes of cabbage/cavalo nero. The gravy was REALLY thick and a large Yorkshire (the only good thing). Two two pints of ale. Bill - £45.30. The pub is nicely decorated and would be okay for a drink. Avoid the food.

Ordered the venison meatball pizza, after a 45 minute wait a burnt, bland and overcooked pizza arrived with exactly 2 venison meatballs. No knives and forks provided, so I politely enquired where they were so I could eat! I lady pointed to the other side of the bar, for me to get them myself. Stayed for one drink, ate was edible on the pizza and went to my room. So if you like paying well over the odds for poor food and even worse service, the ullswater inn is the perfect place for you. I’ve travelled the world and never seen such miserable staff.

We had seen some quite disappointing reviews regarding all aspects of the hotel from untidy rooms, rude staff and poor food quality. But I'm pleased to tell you that our stay was exceptional. We had to organise accommodation for a funeral so sad times. The rooms we were in were clean and smartly decorated. The beds were really comfortable. We had an evening meal which was tasty and the portion size was good too. The beds were so comfortable we did have plans to go out after dinner but on returning to the room had fallen asleep lol. The breakfast was exceptionally tasty, filling and tid I say tasty mm The staff were so friendly, they answered every need that we had. I'm disabled with mobility issues they never had to ask me did I need help they just did. Were definitely going back and cannot recommend a stay enough Njoy

The breakfast us an extra £30 and isn't included in the rather expensive room eaten. No bottled water in the room.staff were grateful. First night we had food in the bar but were left unimpressed as our food was cold yet this was supposed to be the special so surely this should of been the best they could produce

From the outside there were no signs of life, just an area of empty tables and chairs. We were going to eat so I can't comment on hotel. Daughter had a hair in her pizza, the chips looked fried to within an inch of their lives. No atmosphere, everyone just ate and left. I wouldn't go here again.

Called at the Glenridding Hotel for an evening meal. It was busy and the queue at the bar stretched into narrow corridor. People staying at hotel were trying to use the lift which was just next to the bar so that resulted in close proximity to other people. Despite notices about ask wearing being mandatory for guests this wasn't been enforced and most guests queuing at bar were not wearing masks. Indeed a group if young people mocked us for mask wearing. We did not feel it was safe. Since Covid cases are high in this area, I am surprised that more efforts are not been made to ensure guests follow the rules. Staff and customers are being put at risk.

Lovely Lakeland August, pouring with rain. Hoped for some lunch but couldn’t work out how to get in or if they were serving. Turned around in car park and departed. Received £100 fine for taking 1m 56 seconds. British hospitality at its best. Can’t wait to go back to France

Rooms are very dated, hardly got any sleep on old soft mattresses. "Executive" room is overlooking parking and catching all the noise from outside bar (we were told it closes at 9pm - but it looks like they serve alcohol until 11pm). No AC in the room, it was very warm during our stay and it was unbearable inside, windows are so old you can barely open them. On the positive side hotel staff was prompt and polite, hotel is in great location with access to hiking routes, has guest parking and decent breakfast. It's very poor value for money paid, we won't be returning.

Definitivamente regresaremos.

Myself & friends had rooms booked for 20th July for a wedding near by, unfortunately the wedding has been cancelled because of COVID. Wanted to rebook rooms for same date next yr when the wedding will take place. Glenridding will not rebook any rooms ! We understand that we had advanced bookings & in normal circumstances we wouldn’t have wanted to change, these however are not normal circumstances. All the rooms booked were going to be occupied by pairs of friends, so in the current situation with social distance in place we are not allowed to share rooms. We all feel really angry, lots of us have other bookings in various places & have had NO trouble at all amending the booking. Definitely lost faith in folk.

Called in for tea en route back to our accomodation in Patterdale and have to say the food was average at best (pepperoni pizza with hardly any pepperoni on it and Lasagna) The service however was shocking. We recieved 3 out of our 4 meals ok but the 4th didnt arrive until after the rest of the family had all finished eating. The excuse being that the burger was being cooked. Said burger was cheese... Halloumi with no beef, it eventually arrived barely warm. Even if all the food had arrived together I would have only given a 3 star review. Service/experience dropped it to less, which is a shame as I hardly ever give negative reviews ;(

After a great trip round the Ullswater lake we stopped for lunch at the Glenridding hotels Beckside bar and ordered whitebait and scampi. The whitebait and scampi were fine but the accompanying chips were soft, greasy and soggy! I spoke to the man who appeared to be in charge and he said ‘that’s the way they are’. He went on to explain that these were the potatoes their suppler delivered and they were soft to start with and absorbed the fat! Having spent the last week in the lakes and had some other chips this was a first !! No apology or other remedy was offered so will definitely not be going back. As it was a genuine complaint you would have thought something would have been suggested to put matters right but more importantly given that they knew about their sorry chips they could at least have warned us when we ordered. Furthermore what self respecting chef would even allow such chips to be served.

We stayed the weekend just gone at The Glenridding Hotel. The hotel is on the main road right in the centre of the village and has ample parking to the rear, and a good range of local shops for food and drink. There are also a number of local pubs and restaurants, as well as the onsite restaurant and bar which are also very nice. The hotel decor and furnishings are done to a very nice standard. The room was comfy and the bed was very comfy. We walked to Helvellyn, Catstye Cam and Fieldhead Moor and the hotel was perfectly placed as it’s at the foot of the walk. There is also Place Fell just behind the hotel for a more gentle walk. We were lucky enough to see a beautiful cloud inversion during our hike. I have submitted images of the local area of photos I took on our walk. It’s a truly beautiful area. The pier for the steamer boats is also next to the hotel. We will definitely be back. The staff were also very helpful and pleasant. Thank you for a great stay!

Possibly slightly overpriced burgers but the patties were decent and the fries were good of not plentiful. Other dishes on the menu also looked good but were more expensive than we might have wanted, although not ludicrously priced. The venue caters for walkers, passing trade and residents so dogs are welcome. Would possibly eat there again, if only for the location.

Basics: good bed, good shower and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Food good. There is choice of eating in the bar or the restaurant with both serving the same food (pub fayre). If you look like a bit of peace and quiet while eating strongly you book into the restaurant as it can be busy at the weekend. Area can be quite busy in Summer season so don’t think of this quiet retreat from it all.

We decided to come to the hotel knowing that it was flooded in 2015 and wanted to support it. Ideally we wanted to stay there but it was fully booked. The bar had a good atmosphere with TVs on showing the football. I had the vegetable curry which was delicious. Totally different to any other curry I have ever had as there was not too much sauce and the vegetables were cut on the slant and nicely presented. My husband had the steak pie which was full of tender chunks with tasty gravy. We sat by the door to the beckside decking as it was a warm evening. Very nice

This hotel is in a perfect location, has parking, near shops & a lovely pub which was great. The hotel interior was very average. Staff at the reception didn’t speak great English, they got by but would expect a bit better. The room was very basic for the price paid. A bed that’s very soft, barely enough room to move around the bed, bed on wheels & the bathroom was again just basic - no shelves or any form of luxury! The flooring creaks throughout the hotel & none of the doors have soft closers so you’re always hearing slamming doors plus the room was facing the main road so cars & people going past made it noisy. They have amenities like the pool which obviously ups the rating but none of which seemed to get used except the bar so didn’t add to our experience. I struggled to think how people could give 5 stars for this hotel, it’s just not even close. I think you could find a b&b; for a lot less money, in a similar location & nicer rooms. My conclusion: don’t waste your money, I think the hotel is a let down & well overpriced for what you get. If it was cheaper I would have been accepting for how it was but the rooms were just tired & disappointing

We were cycle touring & our bicycles are universally welcomed. 95% of the time they live in our bedroom , we are happy to carry them upstairs & I suppose hotels don’t see them as any different to double buggies or wheelchairs. The other 5% of the time hotels put them in laundry rooms / conference rooms not being used or even in offices. Basically folks in the hospitality business are usually hospitable. The day before I arrived I had an e mail saying there was nowhere for them. Thus they suggested we locked them outside to some metalwork & they got drowned all night both nights.

Wow, I’ve just read the reviews on here and following my own experience, I can concur with the reviews highlighting the rude nature of the lady who runs this place. I also saw one review from one man claiming misogyny on this review chain, it’s simply not. Bad manners are not gender specific, they just are bad manners. Yes people in this establishment may get up early to bring fresh fish in everyday, however the clientele do not expect to be slapped in the face by a wet trout when they turn up to the premise or enquire about buying it. I will be taking my business elsewhere as I am sure many others have in the past and will in the future.

Went on a Sunday before going to the ciniworld on the complex. Waited 40 minutes for two pizza and 2 garlic bread with cheese. Pizza turned up 1st ( stone cold ) followed by starters 10 minutes later ( stone cold ) and I had encouraged the other two members of the party to eat at pizza hut because of my experience on the mainland. Obviously this was a bad idea , I would have thought as a chain they would all be the same or similar, how wrong was I. DONT waste your money or your time in this place , you'd probably find a hotter and more nutritional meal in a McDonald's waste food bin.
