Lovely bistro style restaurant with excellent food, and a terrific ambience. The night we were there they held a Halloween party which was lively. The bar and restaurant, although busy, did a terrific job.

Excellent restaurant located in Lamlash. We booked in advance on their website. As soon as we walked into the hotel foyer we could tell it was going to be a good meal just by the smells coming from the restaurant.! Seated promptly, order taken when we were ready - the service was really excellent and so was the food, especially the seafood. Really friendly staff, had some nice chat and banter with the owner - and even when it came to dessert where we could not really decide between two - we eventually made a decision on one to share but because we couldn't decide he came out with both of the options for no extra charge. Really was an above and beyond experience and we will definitely be back when we visit Arran again next year.

We love the Glenisle. We didn't stay there this time on Arran but dropped in for dinner a couple of nights, and came in for drinks in the bar another. Always well looked after by the friendly staff, despite sometimes trying circumstances. Total professionals. Food is smashing too. Great relaxed atmosphere about the place, somewhere to enjoy being around.

We had lunch. Never again. Two of us had the ploughman's. The Scotch eggs were as solid as rocks and the Brie smelled so strong of ammonia it was obviously very old. The only upside was the young lady server. We had previously ( New years day) had a roast which was also dreadful. The roast potatoes were obviously the previous days left overs and the whole meal was disappointing. I am a former head chef so I know what I am talking about. Sorry Glenisle but you are off our eating out and recommendation list, I advise sorting your cooks out.

The Glenisle hotel was the only restaurant we could visit that did not require a booking for a Monday night in Lamlash. Arrived at 7.30 pm with a very warm welcome from the friendly staff. Restaurant was fairly quiet so no problem getting a table. My wife and I both ordered fish and chips along with our drinks. The food was very nice with only one grumble that the fish had been sprinkled with what I think was sea salt. I would have preferred that this had not happened as I try to avoid salt due to a heart issue. The dessert we had was very nice. Not a cheap meal (£49 for two fish and chips, one small glass of wine and one bottle of zero per cent alcohol and one ice cream to share).

The Glenisle Hotel restaurant was booked for a small wedding party and I am delighted to report the arrangements were amazing from start to finish. Lewis the restaurant manager could not have done more. He promised to make sure the venue would be a lovely setting for us all and he reserved a comfortable, private room for our exclusive use with views over the sea to the Holy Isle, to the beer garden and the enclosed children’s’ play area. All the food was very good and rightly priced with gluten free, dairy free and vegan options. Staff were very attentive, efficient and friendly. Overall a very memorable family experience, cannot recommend the Glenisle Hotel restaurant enough and will definitely be back.

Although we always self-cater when staying in Lamlash we always treat ourselves to a breakfast at the Glen Isle Hotel. The Full Scottish is a substantial plateful that will set you up for the day and includes top quality haggis that comes from the local island butcher. All the other ingredients are excellent and the breakfast easily passes my three essential requirements for a traditional cooked breakfast, ie good quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The only things I would change would be to go back to including the orange juice in the price of the breakfast (it isn’t exactly an expensive item) and serve the tea in decent sized pots, as those single cup ones are simply too small. Service, as ever, was friendly and efficient and we will undoubtedly repeat the exercise next year.

In a party of 8 every meal was thoroughly enjoyed. Sufficient choice considering limited supplies coming to an island. I had the lamb, cooked to perfection. When ordering our desserts we were told there would be a delay of 25 mins which suited us to allow our main course to go down. It’s a different experience for eating out and we have to expect COVID-19 puts pressure on restaurants to keep us safe.I had the most delicious lemon meringue - I would go on a day trip to Arran just to taste this again!

We reserved a table here via their website and received an email confirmation around 3pm on the day. They do have a section which is dog friendly which is great, and plenty if space between tables. Super covid vigilant here, with plenty of sanitizer, track and trace book, one way system etc. They also have a fantastic system of ordering to your table and paying via a QR code and website which is fab and means you don't need to wait for staff if you want more drinks etc. I had the vegetarian platter to start which was very artistically arranged and delicious. We both had mussels and fries for main which were really good and huge portion and we ended up filling 3 bowls full of shells. Staff very friendly and helpful, shame the weather let us down and we couldn't sit in the garden as has a lovely view across the bay.

We visited for an early evening meal, I booked on line, and when we arrived we entered wearing our masks, and we're directed to a hand sanitizer, we decided to sit outside as it was a sunny evening. We were shown to our table and we were told how to order our drinks via scanning a barcode where we ordered and paid for our drinks on last me. They were really quickly brought to our table. It's a brilliant system to reduce contact with staff, but it is very dependent on you being able to use a smart phone and if you are tech savvy, but I'm sure if you needed to order the conventional way you could. We ordered our food and both had burgers, these were incredible!! One of the best burgers I've had in a long long time! Home made beef burger that was huge with amazing chips. It was great value for money. And we felt really comfortable eating and drinking out during covid. The staff were very helpful and explained the system and the one way system. Definitely worth a visit.

Locally recommended as a dog friendly establishment so we thought we’d try it out for dinner. A comfy place with sea views. Plenty to choose from on the menu and the service was fine to start with but as a couple of large groups appeared on the scene, the two waiting staff started to struggle and things went downhill a bit. We overheard several diners complaining about waits for various things and we received the wrong drinks in amongst the mayhem. To be fair, the food was pretty good and if they could get on top of the staffing then it could easily warrant a higher rating so the jury’s still out, I guess.

After a fortnight on the Isle of Arran with friends we decided that on the last Friday instead of cooking we would eat out with the remainder of our shared 'supplies' fund. We researched many places online and settled on the Glenisle as we had had been before and recommended it to our friends. However, although the staff were very friendly, efficient and acommodating the online menus are way out of date with their prices by £5 per main meal !! Had we known this we would not have booked here for our group of 6. I can only comment on the few meals that we chose but the Steak and Ale pie wasn't a pie but a dish of steak with a large puff pastry lid cooked separately and placed on top. The cauliflower was still rock hard and couldn't be cut with the utensils at hand. It needed more cooking (or sharper eating implements !!) Cullen Skink and Lasagne were fine as were the morning coffees.

We’ve always enjoyed popping in here for lunch. Unfortunately this may become more infrequent based on our most recent experience. My wife and I both had the haddock and chips advertised on the menu with peas and salad. We got the fish and chips with the smallest portion of peas imaginable but no salad. Haddock and chips is a staple of Arran eateries and it’s usually a reliable choice, had the menu been more interesting I would not have ordered it as it’s a fallback. Ours was no better and probably less better than what I could have produced from my freezer, greasy fish oven chips and as previously mentioned not very many peas. On a more positive note service was extremely good.

We were told that this restaurant was under new ownership and that it had gone downhill following the change, but decided to give it a try nevertheless especially as it is dog friendly and we have two spaniels. The staff were immediately helpful and friendly - a good start. When we came to order we asked for Cullen Skink to start only to be told it was off the menu, so we dived straight into main course. I had a tuna mackerel bake, which was very tasty, but the mackerel had not been well filleted as there were a lot of bones in it. My wife had a beef and ale pie with mash and vegetables, which unfortunately was very poor. The beef was very tough and dry, the mash cold and the vegetables like rubber. We probably should not have been surprised, because our food appeared only 5 minutes after ordering, which meant it was not freshly made and cooked (even pasta takes 10-12 minutes). We followed with the cheese board, which was advertised as having three local cheeses, local chutney, (both of which came and were good) plus frozen grapes, nuts, salted pretzels and biscuits. The frozen grapes were in fact raisins and there were no pretzels, but mounds of dried bananas (Random), dried apricots, almond flakes and walnuts. There were so many of the latter they would have fed a vegan convention. We had a quiet and friendly chat with the head waiter about the beef and ale pie and in his defence he kindly took that off the bill. The place is clearly trying, but I’m guessing the chef is not up to his job. The waiter was very helpful over the wine list and recommended a bottle of Shiraz which was eminently drinkable.

Visited Glenisle Bistro a few days ago for fish and chips. We sat outside as it was a lovely day, and enjoyed the view. The fish and fries were quite pricey, but tasty. A bit underwhelmed by the fries, as would have preferred chunky chips, but these were as advertised so no problems there. The tartare sauce was lovely. As the waitress was clearing away the plates she asked my 4 year old niece (without any consultation with the adults around the table) whether she would like some ice-cream. We were a bit gobsmacked, but assumed that as she had effectively cornered us into not contradicting her (or facing a potential tantrum), that she was offering the ice-cream gratis, but no, for one scoop of vanilla ice-cream we were charged £1.75! My brother sneaked out to pay the bill, and was too polite to say anything, but I think that was really cheeky!

Visited in February weekend (considered off season). The bistro is warm, cosy and welcoming. The staff were pleasant throughout. The food was average regarding the taste, I felt my cheese and onion sandwich appeared elegant on the menu but was in fact pretty basic. Similarly with "sausage and mash" - it was just two sausages and a spoonful of mash - no gravy or veggies etc. There was a mix up with the order from the staff and we unfortunately had one guest waiting 20-30 minutes for there food to be made, while the rest of the family ate. Again when we ordered tea the server explained they had ran out of milk and had to go to the shop - we waited 30 minutes for our tea. Overall disappointed in the food. The staff were apologetic and took the cost of the hot drinks off our bill.

So we’ve been to the Glenisle before and loved it even though it’s a bit more expensive than other nearby hotels. I think it has new owners and just isn’t the same we felt. We didn’t find it as welcoming and the menu was far to pretentious for us that we ate elsewhere. The room was very small for what we paid, for the cost of a night we expected it to me more luxurious but it wasn’t. The breakfast in the morning was fab however and the man who served us was nice enough. The bed was also a highlight as it was big and comfy, it’s a shame the atmosphere isn’t the same. Sadly we don’t think we would return.

We first ate here at Easter when we were a little disappointed to be sat in a quiet corner and receive slow service. But food tasty so we wanted another try. Quiet corner now a lovely sofa area (where we enjoyed whisky afterwards) and service much improved. Some young staff needing experience but that’s not unusual for the island and they were all friendly & helpful. I’ve read some complaints about supply (but sometimes things run out on an island) and portion size which doesn’t tally with our meal. We were celebrating our younger daughter making the summit of Goatfell, so had reasonable appetites! The starters were generous, main course just nice and we had room for puddings - rich & intense. Macaroni cheese with lobster was a starter I had to share, the surf & turf main very good, excellent veggie risotto and beautifully cooked fish. I would like to see more vegetables with the mains, but they happily prepared an extra side order of mixed greens and carrot for me. So generally a thoroughly enjoyable meal and we will return.

I have meant to put a review since then , we have checked the menu a few times as we are over most weekends unfortunately we have never seen the Venison stew (to die for) we had for dinner both nights and a massive portion no skimping here. I would ask Mark the manager to introduce this dish again during summer it had a taste like no other delicious yum yum yum still drooling .

Dog friendly restaurant which is a bonus for us. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although we only had sandwiches, they were full of filling and very tasty.

There are a limited number of really nice places to eat in Lamlash. We ate here on two occasions.

Stopped off here after a 2 hour walk this morning for a coffee and drink. Service friendly, coffee good, and price OK. Looks like a nice place inside thought was empty at 12.00 - hard to judge, but could be OK.

We sat outside on a fab June evening and had an amazing meal! We didn’t book but were made to feel very welcome as were our dogs! We wanted great Arran seafood and that’s exactly what we got! The muscles and Langoustines were exceptional! Well worth a visit.

Well cooked quality seafood in a pleasant setting. Very nice dining room, although tables are rather close together. Some dishes very good value, eg langoustines.

When planning my trip to Arran I contacted the Glenisle Hotel to enquire about their menu. I was looking for a restaurant that was serving a full menu late afternoon as we were heading to a B & B after arriving by ferry from Argyll.

A charming hotel with bar and bistro, beautifully decorated. Staff friendly and efficient. A good menu selection and the food was lovely and well presented. We settled into the comfy big chairs in the bar after our meal to enjoy our coffee and liqueuers. Nice atmosphere. There is also a pleasant little beer garden overlooking the bay at Lamlash.

Went in, and girls ran off their feet, and had a sausage supper, and a half standard/half special fish supper. Girls were lovely, and the food was outstanding. Best chippy in Largs by a mile. It's a bit chaotic, as all good traditional Italian chippys should be. Wouldn't go anywhere else. 5 star from us.

Duncan served us with an excellent meal He personally advised re menu and did not disappoint. He was helped by a very professional young waitress.

Such a shame how bad the food was at this place as the spa and the facilities are lovely! From reading the hundreds of bad reviews it seems the general consensus is that the food is terrible. We got the steak pie which had soggy pasty, chewy beef and watery tasteless gravy. We also had the buttermilk chicken which was overdone and inedible. It’s really a shame as this place has great potential. The food put a damper on what was a great day in the spa, very disappointed and dissatisfied! With the price of £20 for a pie you’d expect something decent but I’ve had better pies at the football! Service was also not the best.

Perfect end to a lovely stay at the Gailes! We decided to have breakfast at GG’s as we have been before and it never dissapoints! The food is always SO good & the staff are so friendly warm & welcoming! We were looked after today by Irish Liz who was so lovely & made our morning! We went to the driving range after breakfast and the staff made us coffee and drinks to take through with us too! Delightful relaxing morning thank you everyone ❤️
