This place has a great kitchen which also serves "The Gathering". The food was excellent and was promptly prepared and served. No waiting for desiccation under a warming lamp. The same can be said for the breakfast. Great variety and nice quantity so you weren't left wondering about value as you might in some restaurants serving "pretty food" and a "pretty price".

When we ordered we thought the prices were expensive but we were shocked when the bill came. The VAT hadn’t been included in the price. A lunch for £50 ,for two people ,is way to expensive for what is essentially just a cafe.

We have been here both as a couple and as a family. The food was very good and service was amazing. So friendly. We spent time many evenings here by ourself and with our daughter we were able to get a great meal and then play some board games while looking at an amazing sunset. It was such a perfect setting and captured the Scottish Highlands so well.

Welcoming pleasant, thou when we arrived bar people who a little side tracked and slow but nevertheless helpful. Was my birthday but unfortunately wasn't well but we ordered drinks and my partner had scallops which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had a small fish, nicely cooked the fish, too much batter but had a lovely tasty salad and chips, could have done with more chips but less oil. Was also able to use my Gourmet card which was a bit confusing but eventually sorted. Would I go again, Yes. ps. I do have photos, can I submit after?

Had 2 dinners here as part of an excellent deal on a 2 night stay recently. The Table D'Hote menu was different on both nights with a good selection of dishes. The service we received was first class and on speaking to the hotel manager we were told that the chef was only 20-y-o. She has a good career ahead of her on this evidence.

My wife and I ate at Glencoe Inn (the TripAdvisor name is a bit misleading as it is called now "Glencoe Inn") during our WHW hike. I had the sirloin steak which was by far the worst steak I have ever eaten. I asked for medium well and it was well done, dry and just not good. The rest of the food was okay (including my wife's meal) which is the reason I can't give them 3 stars with a clear conscience. It was also quite expensive (47 pounds for a couple) which is not on par with the quality of the food in my opinion.

We came here for a slightly more upmarket meal during a holiday staying in a nearby cottage in Glencoe. The hotel was very quiet and we were the only people eating. Service was a bit slow given this was the case and the menu was quite restrictive. The food was OK but nothing special and not really up to the full menu price. We had a 2 for 1 deal using a gourmet card and this made it good value.

My wife and I decided to have dinner here as we live locally but have never tried the restaurant, not The Gathering but the 'old' side. We were greeted with pressed table linen and slate. First impressions, stunning. We were served by a lady called Stella who's hospitality, friendliness and all round enthusiasm for the hotel was first class. We decided on not having starters as we like dessert. The main course was outstanding. I've eaten in a lot of establishments as I work for SQA, travelling the country, but I can honestly say we are talking 5 star quality. I had beef, my wife had chicken, yes both run of the mill, but both were succelent, cooked perfectly and presented immaculately. The wine list was obviously researched as well. My wife had cheese, with a supplement I may add, but it was a meal for 2. 5 different cheeses, onion chutney and plenty of fruit. Immaculate. Our bill came to 50 quid which included a pre dinner drink, 2 courses and a bottle of Rioja, and the now a days elusive table linen!!! Faultless.

Have been a few times with mixed results so decided to give it another go, as we are local. Wish we hadn't bothered. No atmosphere, two members of staff standing behind bar chatting, got drink on my top from the dirty bar, table top was sticky to touch. Ordered second drink as had to wait for 50min for food to come. Ordered Heritage Burger & Chicken skewer... what came was greasy chips, you could taste the old oil off them. Rocket salad was dried up with a few tiny bits of tomato. Chicken was about 5/6 tiny bits of burnt chicken, and the burger looked more like a hamburger than a fresh handmade beef burger, in a co-op style bun, with horrible flash in the pan bacon. When partner complained the young waiter took it away then came back 5min later and asked if he wanted it re-cooked or something els from the menu!!! After 50min for this declined, he never offered a refund. We then sat there for another 5min and when I wasn't given any cutlery with my meal, decided it wasn't worth waiting for. Shocking to see such poor service and food in our local area, Management really need to take a good look at their chef.

Went to celebrate two birthdays. There were five of us. View was great. Sadly the meal I wanted was not available due to them running out of langoustines. Oh well. Have to go back. One person had a lobster salad and it was a huge lobster, another fish and chips. A pot of fish chowder was packed with fish and the substitute for the langoustines was great. I had the scallop skewers which was a little peppery for my taste. I'd have preferred something other than sweet chilli as it and the pepper overpowered the scallops but they were cooked to perfection. Great salad too. Will return, probably often. Value is great.

Passing through Glencoe my wife and I stopped for the night and decided to visit the bar. The pint of lager I ordered appeared to be a little flat and when I tried to clear the outside of my glass of condensation discovered that it was actually the lager that was severely cloudy. I have to say that the barman was very apologetic, pleasant and attentive and offered an alternative pint without hesitation. We then went to the restaurant next door and ordered a carry out fish supper and portion of chips. Total was £9.65 which I consider to be quite expensive. We waited twenty minutes and were served with the smallest portion of chips I have ever seen with a single fillet of fish and chips which were virtually incinerated and still hard.Very very poor and the one star is for the barman only.

My feeling is that the bar probably has a little more atmosphere than the restaurant proper and for most people in the area that is what they are looking for.Always a good sign when you go to one of these bars and the have a small brewers ale (River Leven in this instance) and even more so when you can strike up conversation with a local. The service could have been a bit swifter, but when the food arrived it was most certainly good hearty traditional fayre. Eat at this hotel as restaurants are thin on the ground in Glencoe if you don't want to drink and drive. The service was good although I had booked a specific table in the afternoon only to find that when we came back that evening it had gone to another couple. I had been asked to choose a table and then to find it had been given to someone else was a little surprising. The service was friendly and prompt and the selection was good although the food was only medioca. I had crab that was served with a slice of brown bread and 1 hot vegable, this seemed an odd combination to me but I 'went with the flow' and was able to pinch a few chips from my hubby and I actually don't like complaining. Like I say the food was nice but nothing 'to write home about' but it has a few tables with a nice view and the staff were very friendly. The toilets however could do with a massive upgrade and considering that this hasn't long opened is a bit worrying. Both of the two toilets didn't even shut let alone lock so I'm glad I was the only one in there!

The food was a bit pricey, but tasted good. But with lack of competition and with stunning scenery they could afford to push the price up a bit. As for the service, the food was brought out quickly enough, maybe a little to quickly. The staff were friendly, and helpful. You have to pay at the bar for some odd reason. I can see this being frustrating if It's busy, but no big deal when I was there. They did seam a little to enthusiastic to sell more drinks, but not pushy. I agree, with the location and the trunk road, this could be better, but I had a good night, and would go again.

I had the misfortune of entering this establishment for a meal on Sat 30 Apr 2011.In brief the service was terrible, the staff rude and the food offering appalling. This is the worst dining experience I have ever had in Scotland or anywhere else for that matter. I had hoped this standard of offering would have been left behind with the seventies or eighties but apparently not, and it saddens me to think what visitors to our country think when come across an establishment like this. We, myself and my girlfriend, arrived at around 7.45pm and the bar was busy but not unusually so given that it was a holiday weekend. We were given a table after a short wait and this is when the problems began. We sat for approximately fifteen minutes before being asked for our order and even then we had to specifically ask to do that. The food when it arrived was of very poor quality. I had fish and chips which was passable but it was obliviously straight from the deep freeze and I am still waiting for the peas. My girlfriend had a vegetable lasagna and that was truly vile. An extremely poor quality readymade dish that was overheated and as a result was swimming in separated fat. When we complained to one of the waiting staff she had nothing to say, no explanation, apology, offer of an alternative or refund; I had to tell her that I was not paying for that dish, at which point she simply turned her back and walked off. At this point I had finished what I was prepared to eat of my meal and we still had not had the drinks we had ordered. When asked about the drinks order the same waitress I had complained to simply stated that the bar was busy and that our order was being handled. This was despite the fact that several couples who had started eating after us had already been given their drinks. We then overheard the waitress in question complaining to a colleague that we were not in her section anyway. It may well have been the case but I am a customer and I do not care about sections I care about service. The final insult was payment of the bill. On the stating that I wished to settle the bill for the single meal we had had I was escorted to the bar and then simply left to sort out the payment myself with a barman who was struggling to operate the cash register. The waitress who had taken our order simply disappeared. As such I then had to restate what I was paying for and why and at this point I was off a mind to simply walk out of the establishment. A truly depressing experience and a disgraceful advert for Scottish tourism. You have all the benefits of location and a trunk road but can not even manage to deliver a plate of homemade food or organise and train your staff appropriately. A slot on Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares would not go amiss here. Glencoe Hotel is an absolute disgrace and I shall never set foot in it again.

We stopped off here today for refreshments and opted for four cups of tea and four scones. The service was not exceptional and nor was the fare. We paid £21.80 for this which I felt was extortionate for what we had.Toilet facilities were drab. I'll give it a miss in future.

We called in when visiting Smoo Caves to a burger van in the carpark of this cafe. Served by a very friendly lady and had amazing burgers, hot dogs, bacon rolls and drinks. Refreshing to be somewhere where you are welcomed. We sat out on the picnic tables. Highly recommend.

Love Single Malt Whisky, good food and friendly cosy venue. This place has it all. Try the potato scones with haggis and cheese for a snack. Delicious
