It’s two or three years since we were in this tearoom and it was a pleasure to revisit while we were in the area. The decor here is emotive of the times and the service is charming. We were only here for tea and scones, all of which were very good.

WoW what a find ♥️ This 1940s themed cafe is an amazing look at the past, as we look at what other people have ordered ... Afternoon tea, scones, breakfast, main meals This is our new excuse for visiting Seaton Carew near Hartlepool 👌 When living in a van finally finding somewhere that actually cooks amazing food and nothing prefabricated like most eateries these days... Everything was lovely even the chips stood out proper meaty gravy on both meals which was a delight with every mouthful of mash... Great value 💯

Lovely restaurant, been many times before. Booked a table for lunchtime yesterday (12o'clock) but weren't informed that they were closing at 1pm so became a rushed affair and out the door bang on 1pm. Spent longer travelling than we did in the restaurant. Very disappointed

What a lovely place this tea room is, so interesting looking at the old items, it's like stepping back in time. We had the most amazing good old fashioned grub 😀 the best food I've eaten in a long time, reminded me of the dinners my nanna made. After a day out at Hartlepool Marina, we drove to Seaton Carew looking for a suitable place for lunch, and came across Gladys Vintage Tea Room, and so glad we did. As soon as you walk through the door, you go back in time to the 1940's, from the decor, to the staff uniforms, music and the excellent food on offer. I had a toasted sandwich, which was delicious. All the family were impressed with the food they got. Would highly recommend coming here and would return again.

We stumbled on this cafe in seton crew, Hartlepool. My wife and me were pleased we did , it’s the only dog friendly cafe in seton which was good but the food we had was excellent. I and my grand daughter had scampi and chips with mussy peas and it was proper scampi and home made chips which surprised even me. My wife had the kiddies breakfast and she thoroughly enjoyed it especially the black pudding. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Booked a Sunday Roast Beef Lunch that came out quickly after sitting down about 10 mins before booked time. There was a nice sized portion of very tasty melt in the mouth topside with six different vegetables, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. A plateful indeed. The only reason for the loss of one star is it was eatable but a little cold. As it came out very quickly after sitting down I would hazard to feel it was plated up earlier in the day and warmed through before bringing it out and it wasn’t warmed up enough to makes sure everything on the plate was at an enjoyable temperature. . Value was good but spoiled a little by not all being warm enough to thoroughly enjoy it (cold Yorkshire pudding not ideal). Will return though as previous experience of great breakfasts and if I do give Sunday roast another try will remember to ask for a warm plate and for cook to ensure all food heated through.

We found out why...the food had already been plated, and was warmed up. Big portions, but not well, presented, and never asked what we liked. What we didn't like, we left, and we left quite a lot ! We chose Gladys after reviewing other options. We found them very helpful regards to the timing and organisation of our event. We only required space for 30 guests and this fitted the bill perfectly. I was eager to try Gladys’s tea room after reading about it in a local newspaper. Easy enough to find next to all the fish and chip shops at the end of the Main Street, so if you can pull yourself away from the smell of the fish and chips you’ll find a warm welcome in here. The atmosphere is definitely 1940’s with Vera Lynne music playing and the staff dressed as homeland girls, decor is of the period with ration books and other paraphernalia displayed to occupy your eye, even the toilet area is decorated similarly. Service is friendly and quick, we had sandwiches which are filling, coffee is fine and cakes are fresh. A nice experience that wouldn’t be out of place if it were in Beamish Museum.

It was a full shop when we got served so naturally there was a little wait but didn`t bother us in such a great setting. Like stated above we only had a scone and not something larger but if the rest of the food on the menu was like the scone then I can only imagine that it would be lovely. 40s style tea room? I’d be inclined to state more like a 90s greasy spoon! Food average and tea served in mugs! A business tip. If you want to be known as a 40s style tea room at least try to make the experience authentic. If you’re a bit short on that department it can’t be difficult to obtain a few teapots from one of the many charity shops in town. Not a patch on the Copper Kettle!

Visited a few times and always been wow however this is 1st time since pandemic and have to say rather disappointed. Stood at counter 5 minutes waiting to ask to have my tea reheated. It came back and was just about hot. Chips were nice but quite a few not fully cooked and my chicken burger was barely warm. The tea was served in mugs similar to a supermarket cafe which we would not expect. The toilet was out of order but that was probably temporary glitch. Still worth a visit for something a bit different from the norm but let's hope they sort these issues as it stopped us from having cake and scones so hopefully next visit will be a wow factor again

We found this cafe to be average at best and not really the step back in time that we were expecting. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody playing on the radio, tea-bagged cuppas served in ordinary mugs, the serving lady in modern clothing, etc. Also, the breakfasts weren't anything to shout about: small portions of budget saving ingredients sold at a premium price. Finally, it's not a place to get warm on a windy day at the seaside - it was as cold inside as it was out.
