I visited your establishment today and was greeted by rude staff. I made a mistake with my order (my fault) and when I asked about it, I rudely got told it’s what I ordered. After the waitress had gone, I could see and hear her from near the till slagging me off and making insulting remarks about me. I have near been so insulted, humiliated or made to feel so little in a restaurant before. I mean, I couldn’t wait to get out. Under no circumstances would I ever return. For the insults and rude service, I was made to pay a service charge that they wouldn’t remove after I asked. It was the lady in the pink jumper that made the insulting remarks. Looked like a manager. As for the food, felt under cooked and I didn’t dare ask the waitress for it to be changed as I didn’t want to be humiliated again.

Very Poor ... The toilets were disgusting and a good clean with bleach wouldnt go amiss! The place is very tired and could do with a refurb. The service was good but that's the only good thing I can say about this place. 2 small beef tacos and a handful of chips barely touched the sides and with a couple of soft drinks for 2 people at £40 represented very poor value. By comparison went to a really nice country pub and had 2 roast dinners with puds and drinks at £50. Also went to celebrity Gino's restaurant later and a superior environment only cost us £15 to share a pizza that was amazing and more filling than 2 taco meals at Giraffe. Give it a miss !!

2 stars for the service . None for the food. I was starving so I ate it but wow. Probably the worst fish and chips ever . Frozen fish, I’d say briefly dipped in luke warm oil resulting in Soggy batter . Curry sauce like I have never seen before in my life , I suspect it was a powder that is mixed with water and that what it was , brown water . The quality of food is appalling, there cannot possibly my be a chef in that kitchen. Highly likely there’s a microwave though. And to be charged £15 for it was shocking . Will never go back and would not recommend at all. The latte was alright .

TERRIBLE. I paid £15 pounds for a burger that was smaller than the size of my palm. What a waste of money a McDonald’s burger is more filling a 1/3 the price

We visited Giraffe whilst shopping in Leeds for a quick lunch stop. Similarly to a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor, the food here is quite overpriced for the quality. However the service was good, no complaints there. We were asked if we would prefer to sit inside or out, and our order was taken promptly. The waitresses were attentive and polite. We ordered the flatbread and Turkish yoghurt to share, and a ham & pork cuban sandwich each. The flatbread wasn’t great, it is described as ‘paprika fried’ but is actually just oily and greasy. The yoghurt dip was ok but the pomegranate seeds were hard and quite bitter. The Cuban sandwiches again were just ok, nothing special for the price. The mustard dominated the flavour so you couldn’t really taste much, both of us like hot mustardy flavours, but too much just ruined the sandwich. The seasoned fries were actually really good, but came with a dipping sauce of…more mustard. On its own this sauce was so strong! I mixed mine half and half with mayo which calmed the intense taste down and made it a bit more bearable. The pickled slaw wasn’t great either, just some pickled red cabbage that didn’t have much taste. I would have been inclined to give a less harsh review on the food if the prices matched the products, but we have had much tastier meals for less money, and feel that this restaurant is overpriced. Next time we are looking for a lunch stop in Leeds, we will be looking elsewhere.

This restaurant is beautiful! The customer service is amazing, all staff were lovely. We especially enjoyed being able to watch the two chefs (who seemed to be working really hard) and the food was outstanding!! We had the chorizo mac and cheese, BBQ chicken wings. Then the classic burger and katsu curry with noodles. All absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you

Such disappointing customer service. Rude staff. Misinformed about skimmed milk (told they had it by one staff member but assured rather rudely by the person who delivered my latte that they don’t have it) So called tostado actually appeared to be a burrito Asked for box to put leftovers in and the response was “shouldn’t think so we do t have many boxes left over. She stumped off and found a box. Seriously… have a word with your staff about customer service. Smiles are always welcome! And a bit more of a “can do” attitude wouldn’t go amiss. People tell me they think that American staff are “fake” because they are positive, smiley, friendly and warm, but I would rather at least leave feeling vaguely cared about. We did not feel that here.

Had an enjoyable lunch here during a recent visit to the city. Varied menu and nice looking restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Food tasty but portion size rather small so not good value for money.

Wednesday after 12 noon the advertised deal is: Any 3 Small Plates + Drinks for 2 people £20. This, however, we discovered after being served 2 glasses of house wine does not apply to the Stuffed Nachos which are included in the category "Small Plates." The waiter claimed he was unaware of this recent change, told us there was nothing he could do about it. We order the Nachos for 2 and ended up with a bill for £33.55 - significantly more than the advertised £20 and for one less Small Plate. Rather disappointed and will not be visiting any of their restaurants ever again.

Firstly no issues with our server, she was very attentive...food selected and served without a hitch and enjoyable up until I noticed a different server cough into her hands, wipe them on her jeans and then touch her hair!!! Really, this is basic hygiene (or lack of) regardless of whether you work in hospitality or not, I did point this out to her directly to which she apologised and said she would wash her hands only to then witness a chef in an open kitchen wipe his nose then go and handle food without washing them??? Absolute disbelief...addressed my issues with a manager (I think, she was wearing a love heart cardi) off she went, no feedback from her and a bill for two at almost £70.00 inc service charge. When I approached the "manager" to ask why she'd not come back to me, all I got was that she'd spoken to them and it was a natural reaction and what do you want me to do??? it's really NOT acceptable, it's an absolute disgrace.

Fantastic experience, we had breakfast this morning and everything was absolutely perfect. We eat out quite a lot and don’t really leave many reviews but this time we definitely thought it would be a good idea to pass on our thoughts. The place is evidently run very well by the management as all the staff were so polite and took a genuine interest as to what we were doing with the rest of our day. The food was cooked perfectly not greasy at all and presented beautifully. There’s not many times you can go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and not find something that wasn’t up to scratch but this Breakfast was faultless. (We decided to come to your restaurant after standing for 15 minutes outside Carluccio’s being ignored)

Sarah who served us was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. All the waiting staff weee great and the food was really tasty.

The service was good. For me, a little over priced for what I received (especially drinks and starters) but what can you expect in the centre of Leeds.. Might just be me but I found the restaurant cold 😰 however, the burgers were absolutely lovely!

10/10. Clean cutlery, Great food, generous drinks and friendly staff. Cant complain! I ordered the calamari starter and the classic cheese burger with halloumi and both came as I wanted. Only thing would be that on the menu, there was a miss-print that the burger came with onion rings which it did not. Will be back again in the near future👍

Visited with a friend and had the pulled pork topped burger and chips. The portions were really small for the price. For £13 the burger was tiny, overcooked and swimming in grease with a few fries in the side. Macdonalds would put this place to shame. Staff were nice but added 10% automatic service charge to the bill. Won't be going back again.

I was quite impressed with the food I had here. My halloumi burger was nice and very filling and the service was very quick even though the place was very busy being a Saturday lunchtime.It is quite a small restaurant and everything is a bit squashed. It is more for families with children and teenagers, although there were a few adults eating here.They do add 10% service charge to the bill and this is not apparent unless you read the small print so watch out.

We’d never been but had 2-4-1 offer so thought we’d give it a try. Nice decor. Varied menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Staff were friendly but had blinkers on - it was impossible to get their attention. We ordered starters which were tasty if a little on the small side. I ordered a jackfruit curry with jasmine rice for my main. My husband ordered the naked burrito bowl. Mine came in a small bowl and was fully 80% rice and 20% curry - about a small ladle sized portion of curry. A really really tiny portion! Totally unacceptable. The flavour was lemongrass - just overwhelming lemongrass. I’m not a fussy eater but I almost couldn’t finish it (I left some of the rice mountain) My husband doesn’t like sweetcorn but the ‘black bean chilli’ was 90% sweetcorn - that’s no exaggeration. It was just a pile of chilli sweetcorn with a tiny number of black beans. Sweetcorn isn’t even mentioned on the menu. It wasn’t worth the 50% off price we paid and sadly we won’t be back.

No room to get in for pushchairs (not even squeezable) nonstaff available. Waited quite a while to give my order-20 minutes. My daughters child’s meal I would say is more for 3-5 year olds as the portion were so small. My daughter is 9 with a small appetite but this were small even for her. The bowl is a small side dish bowl like the ones I use to serve olives or yogurt at home. Daughter said it were flavourless and disappointed so we are going to eat somewhere else. I weren’t hungry as I’d come for my daughter eat so I just ordered a side order of sweet potatoes chips. Although their were about 10 very small sweet potatoes fried for £4 is just not acceptable. I have been here twice before and we’re very disappointed but because it were very busy I gave benefit of the doubt. It were squashed, rushed yet orders took very long, 1 hour and the tiny eat portions, not much different to my daughters very small children’s meal.On this occasion the restaurant is Quiet so I thought it may be better but I were wrong, their will not be a fourth time. Very disappointed, my daughter were excited for a small plastic giraffe and to colour but their wasn’t any this time.

Went there for a late lunch (4pm) with kids and nice mellow atmosphere, nice music and friendly staff. It was not very busy and we had a nice table. Kids were offered crayons and paper to color. Kids menu was very nice £6 Incl a dessert and drink. Quite impressed they would serve katsu curry for kids too. Mine had pizza and the burger and I had the basic burger. All was served smoothly (not long waiting time) and all piping hot! I ordered extra home fries which the kids loved it. The service was very good, checking on us and the desserts for kids were nice too (ice cream and brownie with ice cream).All was good except the states of toilets: was no toilet paper in 2 of them (only 3 toilets) and sink were not in clean condition. Overall, It was a good experience and would come back again.

Have been here several times before and you know the food you're going to get is going to be pretty good. Chicken goyza, calamari and halloumi were great starters and the burgers were also excellent. It was very busy and staff seemed to be a bit rushed off their feet and it was difficult to get their attention for drinks or dessert. Nice warm atmosphere and staff were friendly when you did manage to get a hold of them!

We (my partner and I) visited for lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon and were impressed by the quality of the food. We hadn't visited a Giraffe restaurant so we're unsure what to expect. We both ordered the lamb tagine, and it was beautiful- the best we've had. The meat was tender and the dish was full of flavour. The staff were friendly and polite. We will definitely be trying the restaurant again- whether in Leeds or elsewhere.

I have visited giraffe a couple of times in the last 6 months mainly in york and I havnt been overly impressed , but because there was a large group I thought I would try the leeds one as there was a varied menu for lunch , my daughter ordered a burger that was not cooked in the middle , my friend ordered chicken and noodles she said they didn't taste of anything all she could taste was the chilli , a couple of people ordered the halloumi and falafel burger this had the tiniest slice of halloumi I have ever seen on a burger inside so was just basically falafel , and the rest were not overly impressed either with their meals one came out much later than the others we had almost finished eating . Lots of staff but I had to ask to order a drink and constantly having to get staffs attention for things wouldn't visit again.

Service spot on, food was good, tasty, daughter said fries were yummy, only minor criticism is the price as we felt the menu prices were just a tad high, but if dining Sun-Thurs, worth visiting on a 2-4-1 Meerkat.

First impression of this restaurant is that the design is very nice and the prices are reasonable. There is a wide variety of food and drink for all dietary requirements. The time we visited was not very busy, however the waiters took too long when we asked for the bill. We had finished our food and asked for the bill and the waitress said yes and disappeared to where we thought she was bringing us the bill. The waitresses’ colleague was on his phone, while the waitress was chatting to him and was not providing us with the bill at all. 10 minutes later the waitress asked if we were ready to pay and completely forgot about giving us the bill - in which she did apologise for. When we received the bill, it said there was an optional service charge, in which they did not tell us and just made us pay and didn’t even give us the option to pay the charge. Overall, ok restaurant but the staff are very slow.

Really friendly service and easy to get our reserved table which was all set up for our group. Quick to take drinks orders and then came back in good time for food, without us feeling rushed. Nice aperol spritz drinks and our mains were all tasty. The halloumi fries were crispy and tasty with a zingy dipping sauce. My salmon teriyaki bowl was rrally tasty. Saved 25% with our gourmet society card. Nice decor and staff. Would recommend. Quick service and even the bill brought in a timely fashion.

Came with a friend to start a night out. First time visit. Food wonderful? Hot, well cooked and tastes fantastic. The atmosphere is chilled. Staff friendly but not hanging over you all the time. Cocktails can be recommended. Will definitely come again.

I went to meet family half way and decided on Leeds. Brunch breakfast ok actually. Hot drinks average. Cleanliness of tables needs improvement and toilets need fixing desperately. Nice staff though, just need a manager who cares for surrounding.

Restaurant had very few people yet we waited a long time to be served. When I got up to get some menus I was told abruptly to sit down and they would serve us shortly. Was about to leave when they finally came. We were there when they were crossing over from breakfast to lunch menus and more staff appeared for the latter. Food ok but won’t go again.

I have eaten at a few of these and I have never been disappointed. I had the Salmon teriyaki rice bowl and it is so nice, filling and quite healthy as far as eating out is concerned. The drinks are a bit expensive but the food is really good and I have a taste card which makes it even cheaper and the kids set meal is very reasonable too. The restaurant is bright and clean and the service is quick and friendly. Couldnt ask for much more really

Friendly welcome, comfortable and roomy location and a decent selection on the tempting menu. Ordered the halloumi and feta flatbread, which turned out to be a rectangular slab of pizza base sparingly decorated with tiny cubes of cheese. A nostalgic experience for anyone who ate supermarket frozen pizzas thirty years ago, but otherwise an overpriced exercise in chewing. I simply can't imagine choosing this restaurant over another, regardless of how friendly and efficient the staff were.

My family and I go regularly. We like it because you can have, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mexican or just a burger. In the kids holidays there’s usually kids eat free - drink, main and dessert. Staff are friendly.

I went with a group of friends on Saturday 30th March 2019 for 9pm . The staff were amazing and the food was lovely. I would like to thank the staff for their great service that they provided. We will be back.

Came here with the sister for a quick lunch. Nicest burger I have ever eaten was the Texan pulled pork burger!! To die for

Have eaten here a few times but the most recent visit on Saturday was a bit of a letdown. Pre-booked a table online, but still had to wait ages to be seated, once we finally sat down we were given menus and eventually after requesting someone's attention, got our drinks 30 minutes after seating!

Visited yesterday ( Saturday) for a quick lunch before going to a matinee performance at the Theatre. We only had an hour so were a bit worried we would be pushing it. We needn't have worried. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but they were busy! All the staff were very pleasant. We ordered quickly and the drinks came straight away. Food was only 10 minutes and was piping hot. It was our first visit to a Giraffe restaurant but won't be our last. We enjoyed it, wish we'd had time to stay a bit longer.

Attended with a group of friends for a mid week meal. The lady serving was lovely, but considering how empty it was the service wasn't the fastest. We ordered drinks when we sat down but didn't receive these until after the starter had arrived. We went on a Tuesday which was 50% off burgers. We were told when ordering food that because some were going to order from the set menu (£10 2 courses) that the rest of the group couldn't claim the 50% off on burgers and it would be full price. Which seems extremely unusual, they said that they do this with all deals that they have on. We believe they may have had trouble working out the maths. Due to this we all ended up having the set menu which was an extremely disappointing selection of meals. The burger was very dry and plain, it was not even worth the £10. Friends who had the cold noodle salad said that it was bland. I used to enjoy eating here but it appears to have taken a drop in its standards.

Great alternative to Pizza Hut, frankie n benny, Nando’s, sells all world foods, and they often do kids eat free with drink, main and dessert. Great value.

Called in for breakfast simple order food came and and not cooked how it was ordered never again will we go in there don't think it will be trading much longer people I've spoken to also don't have good reports on the place. We also encountered a waitress with a chip on her shoulder

The food we received was very poor and the service was terrible. There are many other restaurants nearby which offer much better quality of food and at a better price. Despite the bad service the waitress had the arrogance to add on 10% service charge without asking. I will never go to a Giraffe restaurant again.

Went in with the taste card. I had booked a table but something must not have worked as it wasn’t in their system - the waitress made no big deal of it and seated us straight away!

I'm a regular and always know what I want when I arrive. The staff always ask if I need a menu, don't appear to judge me for always ordering the same things, plus they always ask how I am, crack a joke with me and have given me free puddings etc before as Christmas presents. The food is good, tasty and fresh and a wide choice of types and the cocktails are nice. It is also accessible with a nice accessible loo and comfy seats. But at the end of the day the reason I come back without even considering anywhere else? The staff.
