Gingers comfort emporium in Manchester

I got the salted caramel and peanut butter Milkshake, it was delicious, friendly staff, and awesome dairy free options. Nice place to sit and have a drink/ice-cream.

My wife and I had come across Gingers through social media so paid a visit to the shop in Afflecks and we were both amazed at how both the traditional flavours and flavours we had never heard of before were SO tasty. We loved then all that much we wanted the ice cream at our wedding. The service in the shop was brilliant but Claire who provided the ice cream for our special day went above and beyond, ensuring the ice cream was portioned out perfectly, served precisely on time and not a single drop in standard. We will be visiting the shop again and if we were to get married again we'd have you back for me! 100% the best ice cream we've ever had.

Getting to the place is difficult The service is less than normal The atmosphere of the place is very normal The taste is delicious and they have new flavors every day

Dear Owner, The point is a little kindness goes long way and my review could have look very different to what it is. Thank YOU for response however I'd like to clarify that your server NOT offered to to taste the ice cream first and neither advised me that salted carmel ice cream is in fact extremely salty taste. I truly suggest you should write this down on your menu, there could be people out there who should be careful of in take of salt for health conditions. The worst I have ever had with my children when eating out. The server hasn't shown any pity towards my poor child when my boy got very upset because he found the taste of his ice cream odd and could not eat it. I was told straight away that I need to pay for another ice cream full price if asking for replacement. I appreciate it was ordered a salted carmel but the taste was super salty compared to any other make we have ever tried before and especially salty for a child's sensitive taste buds. My daughter then forced herself to eat up hers because she felt sorry for mummy having to pay extra. I found it absolutely shocking. Anywhere else we have been generally as a gesture of goodwill and to preserve a good experience moment customer is offered some sort of compensation. If it hasn't been an satisfactory taste /experience. In the first place a server should advice about the very salty taste of that flavour as knowing it was ordered by a younger child.

Me and my husband come to Gingers at least once a week! We love so much this place and all ice creams they offer. Both flavours and texture are amazing. I personally think this is the best ice cream/gelato in Manchester and I have no regrets in saying this. All staff are also kind and very attentive, they are all young and energetic giving a nice vibe to the place and becoming part of the experience when visiting Gingers. We dream about the day Gingers open new stores in the city with an extended working hours ☺️😉

We visited here after having a meal in the Northern Quarter. We had purposely not had a dessert because we knew that we were coming for an ice cream! Gingers is situated on the first floor of Afflecks Palace and is a friendly little eatery. There were eight of us and we were able to sit around a table together, my grandson was very excited for his chocolate ice cream. There was a nice atmosphere here and it was clean and well presented. There was a water bottle tap that was free which was great because it was a particularly hot day. The ice cream is delicious and the service was friendly too.

It's hard to enjoy all the flavors of ice cream, but it's worth trying. They make everything with local ingredients and it is extremely tasty, because they refine the recipes for months to achieve the desired taste. Vegan and dairy ice creams available.

Ice cream and coffee shop with very friendly staff. They also serve tasty vegan ice cream. Located on the second floor with seating area. There are several choices of ice cream available. A good place to hang out too.

Their vanilla ice-cream is the real deal! They source it from a friend's farm on the island of Madagascar and it's the softest thing I've ever tried. I also highly recommend their salted caramel and peanut butter flavour 🍦 Prices are super reasonable for what you get: 1 scoop for £4 and two for £5.50! 💳 Cards accepted

Ginger's comfort emporium offers unique flavors and tasty vegan options. It's a must-visit for all ice cream lovers!

I had the cherry vegan and the fennel dairy. The cherry is very cherry and it's basically cherries and very little else and it was awesome. The fennel pollen is basically a really gentle licorice flavour. It's very subtle but it stands proud of the cream.

Ate my first vegan ice cream, great taste, nice story and also fun to enjoy this delicacy.

Little ice cream and coffee parlour in Afflecks - perfect location with a good view to have a catch up with friends. Can get busy but deservedly-so. The ice cream is excellent, with unique yet delicious flavours to try. The coffee is also really good! Lovely friendly staff and excellent service.

This is a really lovely cafe with lovely staff. The ice cream was amazing, I don't think I've ever tasted ice cream that was that good. (We had the peanut butter and salted caramel. I really recommend it)

We'd been here before (and bought the book). It left such a strong lasting memory we had to bidet again when in Manchester recently. Malted Coconut Milk, Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter, Burnt Butter and Cake ... all delicious. It wasn't too busy so we were able to sit in a booth but I can imagine queues on a busy day.

I went 11-Feb-24 with my partner, we had 2x hot chocolates and guiness and ginger ice cream. You can go to more corporate places and get your drinks quicker, but the drinks here were far better and worth waiting the extra couple of minutes. Homemade ice cream was amazing, I always like the vibe at Afflecks relaxed and chilled and I would come again.

Always lovely coming here for some scoops after I've been out shopping. Really delicious. Love the salted caramel. A must!

sweet staff and they really have the best icecream and milkshakes. i had the coconut malt flavour which was decadent! and vegan too. so many options to choose from. i also had the cherry sorbet and brown butter cookie dough the next time i visited. the brown butter is probably one of the best ice-creams ive ever eaten. cute place to catch up and have generous, massive scoops of ice-cream with a delightfully crisp waffle cone.

Brown batter with cookie pie is sooooooo nice!!! Lewis(staff) serves with nice service!! Love this!

Gingers is one of my favourite places to visit in Manchester and a key part of any trip. Fantastic ice creams, great atmosphere and really polite staff. We've even got the recipe book at home so we can make our own Charlton Crack between visits!!

Unbeatable ice cream. Cherry sorbet and the brown butter ice cream are must-trys.

Now Rachel has left, we have to give this place 1 star She was the light of a dim place! Rachel was very respectful to customers and treated everyone fairly. We used to visit several times weekly! Now we have extremely rude staff that ignore darker skinned customers and allow lighter skinned customers to be served first. Never experienced anything like this ever in my whole life in England. This is truth and not an allegation. I asked the server why me and my husband were dismissed and she attempted to mutter a reply. No excuse, she saw us. We walked out.. We will not be returning. And we will warn the 100s of people we recommend this place to.

**No take away available** Pro - salted caramel and peanut butter milkshake was tasty and quite large. Con - malted coconut milkshake was basically just milk. No take away cups - had to leave the majority behind. The staff member was pleasant, but not very attentive. They brought the milk shake over and said, I made the milkshake wrong, sorry about that.

Some delicious vegan ice cream!!

Great place for ice cream and milk shakes with unusual and regularly changing flavours. It's perhaps not the cheapest but worth it for an occasional treat.

Ice cream was nice - a few different, unusual flavours. Had cookie pie and fior di latte. Is in a corner of a space with lots of other businesses, not easy to find but I did enjoy the ice cream and the small seating area was comfortable.

Amazing trip here today, team couldn't be more helpful and this is simply the best ice cream I've ever had. We all be back.

It's an experience. Amazing ice-cream and great hot chocolates. Plus excellent people watching. Good for families of a coffee with a friend.

Service and flat whites were spot on. We had a medical emergency and Tom, our barista provided assistance to navigate through the different protocols as we're from US. Tom allowed us to sit a couple of hours to get our bearings and 'next step'. Affleck personnel checked on us a couple of times which was comforting as well.

Amazing flavours. Tried the baked apple sorbet and chocolate ginger rosemary. Would return to try the other flavours too. Glad they use compostable spoons and not the plastic disposable ones.

Not a vegan, but chose the chocolate ginger & rosemary - stunning flavour combo. Also had malted coconut milk. Very creamy and comforting texture, good malty rounded flavour. Tried my partners “pear & espresso” vegan scoop , sounds weird but really works. Will be back to explore more of this menu next time I’m in Manchester. Recommend!

An ice cream fanatic, living in Manchester 4 years now, this is my #1 Go To. They’ve just started doing a Brown Butter & Cookie Pie flavour and if it ever comes off the menu I’ll cry.

The ice-cream is delicious, there is a good range of flavours, some more unusual than others, I had salted caramel and peanut butter and it was excellent. Gingers is well worth a visit if you are in Manchester City centre.

There is not a lot of available space to sit but we luckily got a spot. The vegan chocolate ice cream was flavorless. I am glad that vegans at least have the option but it can't compete with regular chocolate ice cream, like some other vegan products can. It was difficult to find in Aflex.

I've eaten a lot of ice cream in my life, but I've never experienced ice cream made up of such risky and adventurous flavours. I didn't realise that rosemary, ginger and chocolate is the greatest ice cream I've ever tried. It's rare that someone creates something that resets your expectations. Phenomenal ice cream they goes beyond the norm. It's art to be honest.

Brought the family here for a treat after a shopping expedition and the ice cream was absolutely gorgeous. Smiles all round.

I’ve been eating Ginger’s ice cream for over a decade and they serve Manchester’s best ice cream!! Everything is homemade. Favorite flavours are Extra Virgin Olive Oil (YES IT EXISTS) and of course Chocolate. Parlour is awesome, perfectly positioned with a great view up Oldham St. Take a friend, date or laptop and spend an afternoon chilling in the giant luxe booths in one of Manchester most loved buildings, Afflecks Palace! Friendly staff and would recommend without hesitation!!

What an adorable cafe this is, I definitely recommend going here for a hot drink or one of their amazing ice-creams. They make all the ice-creams themselves with real ingredients, and the best bit is they will let you try any of the many flavours if you're unsure what you want. All the staff are great as well, they're friendly and welcoming. Gingers is now my go-to place when I'm in Manchester and want a hot drink or an ice-cream 😁❤️

I have never tasted ice cream quite like the options on offer at Ginger's. Absolutely exceptional. I've been recommending them by word of mouth for years after first buying from their van, but finally got it together to put it in writing. A real gem in the heart of Manchester.

We visited with family, scoffing malted milk, choc and strawberry ice cream cones. All were delicious. The staff explained all the flavours and we ate our ice creams in tasty waffle cones. Most cones taste like cardboard, but these were wonderful. The flavours were perfectly balanced, we weren’t left with the dreaded ‘summertime ice cream dry mouth syndrome’. The view from the cafe is worth the visit alone as you get a panorama of Manchester’s quirkiest area. Almost like 1920s New York. The area has been used by film crews to recreate the era. Treat yourselves next time you’re in Manchester. Well worth the visit.

I had the pleasure of arriving at Gingers in Afflecks Palace yesterday afternoon and asked for an ice cream. I was served by a very pleasant and helpful young lady who pointed me at the extensive list of flavours on a large chalkboard. She then described them to me so I chose the Fior Di latte. Wow! This is my favourite style of ice cream, which is quite difficult to come by in most places. We had a chat about the making of it too, which pleased me no end as she was well versed in the making of it. I will be heading straight to Gingers the next time I visit this area. I think anyone looking for genuine traditional ice cream would be really pleased with Gingers presentation of their vast range.

Asked if fruit was available. Was told no. After our order other people got strawberries. Had a very sweet chocolate orange ice in a tub so full it went all over the place. Disappointing. Not understanding of Visual Impairment.

We are proper foodies and know our ice cream, when we saw the excellent reviews and pictures we were excited to try gingers and set off after our lunch. When we arrived the staff didn’t even greet us, just kept looking away. Young girl and a lad with long hair. We had to ask if we wait for a seat or what, what usually, what’s the system?! Very awkward!! We sat down and neither of the staff members came over to ask if we wanted a menu or explain the ordering process, they seemed too busy talking to their partners who were sitting at the bar. The menu was scribbled on a black board on the back wall. Not very much choice at all so the pictures on here are deceiving.. We had mint ice cream and chocolate and lemon and mandarin sorbet. The mint ice cream was like actual mint and unexpected in an ice cream, I didn’t enjoy it but others may.. the chocolate was overpowering and tasted of coca powder. The sorbet just average lemon sorbet. Was an awkward atmosphere and certainly won’t be returning, staff didn’t even bother to thank us or say goodbye. Shocking customer service! Expensive. Not worth it

It is a great quirky little place inside Afflecks Palace. A massive choice of vegan and dairy ice cream and hot drinks. The ice-cream was Black forest gateau flavour and it was lush! definitely a nice find on a hot sunny day!

I come here whenever I get a chance; the milkshakes are delicious and staff are always so friendly! Lovely place to drop in and spend an hour.

Great little place to stop by when in need of refreshments while looking round the many shops and stalls of afleks. Vegan and non vegan snacks are available and it's not to badly priced either.

Great place to get ice cream 🍦 Vegan and dairy ice cream options available, as well as hot drinks and snacks. I recommend the Lemon Meringue flavour ice cream it's so moorish and they give you BIG SCOOPS when you buy 2x scoop cone. Customer service is usually friendly and consistent. If you appreciate quiet setting to enjoy ice cream, you can alone (because it's so quiet) or in a group / family. The interior decor is more quirky and humble which is in correspondence with the overall vibe of Afflecks Palace. Top spot, does the job!

A couple of years since my last trip here. The flavours are changed regularly and can be made into a milkshake. I had looked forward to sitting in the coming back so much but none of the things i wanted to try weren't on the menu. I did have a strawberey ice cream which was obviously made with real fruit and delicious and my friend had the peanut butter and salted caramel? She loved it anyway 🥰

Had a malted coconut milkshake, with cream and marshmallows, went back a second time too. Expensive but wonderful, probably 2 million calories and not for the faint hearted. People v. friendly too. Read a book on 'sheds' on the bookshelf, check it out.

La Plum Ripple es la opción obvia para mí con mi amigo intrigado por el ruibarbo y el refresco de crema. . Tuvo Ginger en eventos de comida callejera hace años y también visité el café Afflecks hace algún tiempo. Revisado ayer como un amigo había oído cosas buenas sobre él y quería intentarlo. Solo tomé un té, pero mi amiga tomó un helado de coco que a ella le encantó y dijo que no tenía sabor vegano ya que era rica y cremosa. Tuve una pequeña muestra y recordaba a los dulces de coco que puedes obtener del sureste asiático. ¡Era una cucharada pero la porción era muy generosa! Y se presentó muy bien. El servicio fue rápido y el café tiene un ambiente relajado. Vale la pena una visita si estás en Manchester!

Visité un sombrío sábado por la tarde. Olía a café y noté que el brownie hecho en casa en el mostrador. Honestamente es el mejor brownie que hemos tenido. Todo el ambiente era muy relajado y acogedor, con cómodos sofás también. Volvería de nuevo en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. . . De hecho, 45 minutos en auto vale la pena solo para probarlos nuevamente. . . . Debe tenerlo con helado la próxima vez. El café también era increíble. Debes visitar si tienes la oportunidad. xx

Went here with the wife and kids on a Sunday afternoon. Once you've walked through the incredible maize of curios you come across this fantastic ice cream parlour. Reasonably priced and some fantastic unique flavours. I know I will be back!

I have been to Gingers for many years with my family and friends.

Ginger's ice cream is some of the best. Very rich and creamy. Being in Afflecks gives it a very unique environment. Ginger's provides a nice place to sit and chill in the midst of the excitement of Afflecks.

This place is effing marvellous!! Super tasty ice cream, decent prices, absolutely lovely staff and comfy atmosphere. Having a delightful time right now!

Fabulous creamy ice creams, from Ginger's within vintage, retro heaven, Affleck's Palace.

My partner and I went went here over Easter and absolutely loved it! We had both milkshake and ice-cream which was a little too much.....But who cares!

My boyfriend and I were blown away be the ice cream. They had an interesting option, some vegan, some creamy chocolate type and some fruit flavor. Ice cream itself tasted like nothing I had before. It was just so flavorful!! This is must go for ice cream in Manchester during the warm sunny day.
