Lovely restaurant, ambience, staff, food. I have noticed that auger is in absolutely everything you ordered- everything! It’s ridiculous why all this sugar is now added? It is savoury food and unnecessary and un healthy. Please listen to the customers.

Thought I’d try a new Indian takeaway, very disappointed. The packaging bags were the only thing good. Didn’t label the stuff in the order so couldn’t tell what was what without tasting. Chicken curry was so watery that it was like a soup. The rice had no flavour. The onion bhajis weren’t cooked enough and were watery??? saag paneer was disgusting, completely different to the rest of the Indian takeaway places. Less rice than the other places too. So expensive for what it is. Won’t be ordering from here again. Ordered for 4 people. 4 curry’s, 4 rices, and some extras. Parking here is awful too.

Never disappointed here…. Great food, generous serving, professional and friendly and… drinks on the house and… chocolates! Already booked for next time.

I’ve seen some reviews here from around 3 months ago… I don’t see why there was so many poor ones, maybe they took the criticism on board because I had a great meal here on my birthday. Staff were very polite and accommodating, the inside looks pretty and the food tasted delicious. My go to dish is a pathia and it was such a good level of spice and taste, by far the best I have had in east London. The korma that my partner had was very creamy, but it’s a Korma, you expect that a bit! All in all, I’m just upset that I am not fatter, so I could’ve eaten more here.

Placed order few times through me ,friends and family . We found the test of Food getting worse and feeling raw tomatoes ,onions and salty. It looks recipes are changed or chef. We visit and get Delivary and collect very frequently. Note: Massala, Freizi, Bhuna not test as like before at all.

This was my first time at Ginger Spice and i was very impressed with the food and service. I have 2 complaints, the menu is very small and as it is quite dark in there was hard to read. Also we had poppadums and they charge extra for the dips so was double the price

Myself and my partner had a beautiful meal here tonight. We arrived about 6.30 were seated immediately and were served throughout our meal by various staff members who were all polite and attentive. We will definitely be returning

Not a great experience, poor quality of lamb , over cooked dry as a bone & bland hidden in a sauce. Staff not very attentive . Tablecloth was stained from previous customers. Sad that this establishment has lost its way.

Lovely looking restaurant and amazing attentive staff, but now been twice and chosen diff dishes both times and sadly the food lacks flavour of any kind, it’s just bland. Won’t go a third time as dissapointing

This restaurant looks impressive and decor is lovely. They even do cocktails so expectations were high. Our cocktails were not great, and menu was very disappointing for vegetarians. A whole list of menu specialities and not one vegetarian! In fact, apart from side dishes, the only vegetarian main was vegetable biriyani! They definitely need to at least have ONE vegetarian dish on the specialities surely? Also to list vegetables for all the classics. They have chicken, beef, prawn etc., but no veggie! I chose fish. The Masala sauce very sweet. My friend had dhansak, she said it was very bland like a chicken stew type taste. I must say staff were absolutely lovely. Very attentive and efficient. Just such a shame the food did not live up to expectations.

Went on a Wednesday for the mid week banquet menu ..a bargain at £15.99 for starter, main and side. The portions were ample to say the least. The Tikka starter was so tender and my lamb rogan was also excellent.

Disappointed 👎🏻 ordered biryani and fried rice both are tasteless and the price doesn’t match with menu outside the restaurant. Tikka biryani was 8 pound on menu but charged more excluding service tax.

Despite it being a well decorated and attractive restaurant, I had a very disappointing recent attendance here. For Punjabi/North Indian food lovers this place is badly lacking in authentic flavour, one to avoid. Starters were miniscule but tasted fairly good. Portion size improved with mains but they suffered from inauthentic flavours, far too much coconut usage and weak over sugared masalas. Very overpriced small Naan breads (though these were well made). Service was fast but proved equally lacklustre at points: -I was served little ice in my drink despite asking twice. -Plates/Cutlery with starters had to be asked for and the waiter made a point of explaining how put out he was at providing this 'extra'. Well, clearly no one must come there to share food then... Who eats only out of the serving dish? Bizarre. -We did raise our concerns and one particular waiter chatted to us but tried to claim the restaurant only reflected a lack of any authentic food in East London. Suggest he needs to drive around and drop into some rivals. Plenty of great Indian eats in East London!

It is no where close to Indian cuisine, with extremely small portions and overly priced. Rude and arrogant staff. Bland food.. what a waste of space. Waiter cum manager guy told that their main priority is white people who have no clue of Indian food. Probably the worst dining experience.

A terrible place to eat.. the staff was rude and arrogant and were standing on top of our heads. Food is Bengali and no where close to Indian food. Overly priced with very tiny portions.. if you are looking to enjoy actual Indian food than this is the worst place......

We had a takeaway last night and it shoukd be called Ginger No Spice. The biriyani, special garlic prawns and special butter chicken all tastes of nothing. Super disappointed as this place is always really good.

Visited here at the weekend, very nice food and staff were great! Staff were very knowledgeable and helped us decide what to order. Very busy so definitely book prior to visit. Highly recommend 👍

We went here for a large birthday gathering. As the restaurant was catering to such a large group, they provided a special menu with a good choice of curries. Everyone enjoyed the food and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Good choice of bottle beers with a few on draft. Reasonable choice of spirits.

Love the place but when you order a king prawn curry not very nice , small prawns with no taste , they might asweel come out of Iceland , but all other dishes are bang on , next time will order some thing else .

I would have given this place 4 stars however they managed to really let me down and make me feel embarrassed. The hot food was good and the service was with a smile. There were a couple of problems with desserts but nothing worth mentioning here. The inexcusable point and the reason for only giving 2 stars is the fact that their card machine wasn’t working and hadn’t been working all evening. We were only informed when the bill was brought to us. I was supposed to be treating my nephews to dinner and in the end, he had to go and withdrawal cash from the machine to be able to pay the bill. You may ask, “why didn’t you just go and withdraw the cash?” - unfortunately my foreign bank card would have charged a commission for withdrawing cash and I wasn’t willing to accept that due to the restaurant’s failing. Had they informed us at the beginning of the meal, I would have had time to find a solution, had we decided to stay and eat.

We went there last Wednesday as it was buffet night. Which we had been recommended. The greeting at first was good but as soon as we asked for the buffet their attitude changed. The food wasn’t good our Grandson who loves his food especially indian left his. We didn’t like ours either! We didn’t ask for the bill as we were deciding if we wanted more drinks but it was brought to the table & put in front of us. Before we even got up they were stripping the table!!! So rude!! We had booked the table but we would never go again!!! Rudest restaurant in Romford!!!

Really poor experience. Claimed the table wasn’t ready when there were many tables free, just so we would purchase a drink at the bar. The service was extremely slow and the food took a long time. Upon checking the bill we found that additional drinks were added to the bill and we were charged extras which shouldn’t have been included. All a very bizarre experience & we won’t be returning.

Food was delicious but the manager was vile towards his staff. On a busy Friday and the manager decides to nearly have a fight with his colleague all because he didn't clean a table on time. Very unprofessional, especially when their is kids present. The guy needs firing!! Felt sorry for the other guy, he was clearly embarrassed. SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR FROM A MANAGER!

Food is good Service is good We were sat in the corner in very close proximity to other tables. There was no need for this the place was quite empty and other tables were set. I assumed they were fully booked or would have said something before sitting down. The people to the left were loud but not unpleasant, the table on the right was two women and a child. They abused the child, the child screamed, they made a scene throughout, got a parking ticket and didn't pay for the bill. I felt bad for the staff but can't understand why they squished us in the corner next to them.

Booked for a Wednesday evening dinner with the family – 2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby – for 5:45. The service was abysmal and our waiter rude most of the evening. Two things stand out: they rushed us beyond what could be considered reasonable. They just wanted to get us out. As soon we finished most of the meal they were hovering over us to clear and started to clear abruptly. They kept telling us that they wanted to remove the linen so rushed us to quickly finish up. Before they even presented us with the bill, another person came with the PDQ machine and asked us to pay. This is when we asked for the bill. Before I could even see the bill he had all the figures punched in. I was not able to take a moment to review the bill so I simply paid by contactless as he was aggressively thrusting the machine for us to pay. It was plain rude just how they were rushing us. We paid the bill at 7:03, so it was not like we were there for an unreasonable amount of time. For a family of 4, an hour and 15 minutes is very reasonable. It is difficult to put into words just how aggressive they were trying to get us out. When we got home I looked at the bill to notice they charged up to £5.30 for poppadoms, but alas we were having the ‘Banquet’ which included the poppadoms. They were presented to us as part of the meal only to find that they charged us £5.30! £5.30 may not sound like a lot, but we should not need to pay for something that was already included in the meal and was given to us. Perhaps they rushed us to pay the bill before we saw it so we did not notice it? Who knows! This is awful. Why advertise that a particular thing is included in the meal and then charge us extra? Due to the aggressive and rude waiter, who rushed us and the overcharging, we will never go back and would not recommend this place.

The food is good enough, but the service was dreadful, we felt very rushed and in the end when the waiter practically threw the desert menu at us we asked for the bill and left. Very rude waiters I will never go there again.

Kept waiting for our table for 10 minutes despite pkace being practically empty and we had booked a time, in the end had to ask to be seated. One waiter in particularly very off hand to point of rudeness at one point he said to my daughter you your food is coming. We were served by a very nice polite yiunger man I was sad to see the older rude chap swiped the tip before we had even vacated the table bet he diesnt share it. Food bland and curries rather dry also charge gir saundries such as raita. Practicalky sneered at when i declined alcohol and asked for water. Bill for 4 came to £160 so not cheap. Wnt go back fir that price to be sneered at and eat mediocre curry

We been going to ginger spice for years, the best Indian, and the only Indian I go too, the whole family make u feel very welcome, and the food fantastic,

The service was good but some staff seemed curt. The atmosphere was very good but perhaps a bit noisy if you are going for a quiet romantic meal. ( Although it was a special offer night!)

Very impressed with the service. I had called 2days before to book a table. I asked if they had cake on the menu or whether I could bring my own birthday cake. They said I could bring my own. When we got there they had put a banner up and had confetti on the table. Thought it was a lovely touch. The service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive. When we ordered our starter the manager Jay came over to confirm if we would be happy with paneer bites or whether we would prefer paneer tikka. He also asked whether we wanted more.chilli in our chicken for mains to make it more towards an Indian taste. The staff brought the cake over at the end and sang happy birthday. Which was lovely. At the end Jay checked in to make sure we were happy with everything and offered a drink on the house. Thought this was a very nice touch. Will definitely be going back and recommend it to friends. The service was great, ambience was nice and the food was tasty (not covered in oil like some Indian places)

This place was actually good the first time but not so good the 2nd time the tandoori chicken was completely bland and when I asked if they changed to a new chef the waiter got annoyed and became very defensive and argumentative pretty much telling me I don’t know what I am talking about so the experience wasn’t great and same with the food, I won’t be going back there again. Normally I wouldn’t even write a bad review but it would have been nice to have good customer service and maybe not be charged for the food. Anyway me personally I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.

Visited last Saturday for the first time and really enjoyed it! Feel like the reviews below are unfair ~ all the food was delicious. I recommend the mango curry on chefs specials Service was prompt and friendly. With complimentary baileys for afters Would book next for a special occasion

It's always nice to get out for food.

The rubber chicken tikka was terrible and bland, so I thought let me try the lamb sheesh which was all shiney and hard to cut … and again bland! I’m Indian so I know spice , so I told the waiter it hadn’t been cooked properly but he just went on to tell me how great HE thought the food was, so all in all rude waiter and bad customer service. Never again

Went out for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night. Three couples, having a good night. Food was good, staff were friendly and pleasant until the end. We made an offhand comment about covid within earshot of the waiter clearing our plates and he proceeded to spout conspiracy theory nonsense to us for twenty minutes including covid denial, Bill Gates and the more recent 15 minute cities conspiracy theory. All of which very unprofessional as we gave no indication we wanted him to join our discussion or that we were in any way likely to share his views. He then went away for a few minutes and came back to give us more anti-vaxx sentiment and pure jibberish that upset one of our party who lost close family in the pandemic and works in the NHS. We declined the free round of drinks at the end simply to get away. Will not be returning which is a shame because the food and atmosphere other than that were great.

First things first it’s not an Indian restaurant, more of a Bangladeshi one with all cuisine and waiters/managers being Bangladeshi. Went in to order food and was treated with waiters who were mumbling/abusing in local language(Bangla which I understand) for no reason. Did not order and will not return. Zero stars!

This is pretty much your bog standard Indian, the food is pretty much the usual meat-in-orange-sauce, takeaway level. Its a posh looking place with posh looking plates, and to be fair, it's fairly OK value. If you want something interesting though, get a taxi and 20 minutes away is cafe spice namaste where you'll be interesting food, if more expensive. This place does seem very popular with locals though, especially - somewhat surprisingly - young people.

Too noisy and too smokey. Went on a wed eve and was great value for money. Food was lovely but too smokey while they were serving around us.

We went out to celebrate my birthday at Ginger Spice on Upper Brentwood Road. It was our first time there, and first impressions were good - contemporary decor, comfortable seats, though perhaps not surprisingly quiet on a Monday One of the waiters took our order. Around 20 mins later, we were enjoying our tasty starter. However, almost an hour had passed by the time our main appeared. This was on a quiet evening, with twofront of house staff serving a group of half a dozen and a family. The food and ambience were good, but we were so frustrated- we'd hoped to be in and out in less than half the time.

Am really surprised that lots of reviews say that the staff/customer service was not great. We were a group of 5, staff couldn’t do enough for us. Really attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes and wines and food order taken and served promptly. Decor is opulent , toilets were spotless - a really nice restaurant. Am going to try Banquet night next.

In fairness it was monday and the place was quiet but the food just wasn't that great. Haven't been to the place for a long time before this but it was definitely better.

unfortunately the food didn't quite meet our needs, Lamb chops was tough Chicken was dry and than they added a extra £3 for some sauces for the popperdoms that we never asked for.

Really lovely food. It was busy and the waiters seemed stressed and a bit off but when it calmed down they were really nice.

Went to this restaurant as I heard it advertise on TIME FM Highly disappointed my husband and I sat for 20 minutes before we were given a glass of cheap sparkling fizz. Another 25 minutes and we were asked what we wanted to order. The order came after 30 mins No communication from the staff whatsoever during our time there and not offered the drinks menu no drinks were offered at all. Service was terrible and food wasn’t great either Would not recommend or go back to this restaurant and to top of off never got a rose as they couldn’t be bothered to follow up on the theme night Not even rating a star doesn’t deserve anything Picture below after 20 mins sitting no drinks at all

BEAUTIFUL and stunning, Great Indian Restaurant had my Nans 60th Birthday here.. all 13 of us sat on a round table.. Service, Food, Staff were excellent… we were there booked for 7.30 and were seated straight away.. 100% clean and tidy restaurant deco was amazing… we took a cake and balloons but restaurant did decorate table too was lovely x Music was an issue we felt like we was on a chessington ride waiting to be seated lol but all staff were nice and friendly would definitely recommend and come back.. Thank you for making it a loving evening for us X

Decorated beautifully with a large comfortable bar area to relax whilst having pre dinner drinks.The waiters are so friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The food was all lovely. The flavours of the spices with the beautiful presentation made every mouthful wonderful. It was a totally different experience for me as I normally choose a sauce based curry but I decided to opt for fish and king prawns and it was so fully of flavour and the fish remained delicate. My husband chose the salmon main and the spice added to a lovely salmon fillet. We were not rushed and had a great interaction with the waiters. They made sure all 10 of us were served together by using a restuarent dessert trolley to bring all of our dishes at once. The only disappointment was another unnecessarily noisy table of 10 next to us which made conversation difficult whilst they were at their table. But that unfortunately happens sometimes nowadays. The main restuarent was much quieter with curved booth setting to give more privacy which is ideal for smaller groups. I can recommend with confidence.

It was OK waiters wanted me to order before I had a chance to get seated and talk to my friends. All seemed a bit of a rush,order now before it gets busy food was warm lacked taste, very noisy and no contactless payment.
