Giggling Squid - Bracknell in Bracknell Forest

We came here for a mothers day late lunch on Sunday. Staff were friendly enough and attentive, we didn't have to wait huge amounts of time for any dishes (as some previous reviewers had experienced). Food was tasty, recommend the prawn massaman curry, very tasty with the right amount of spice. Didnt particularly like the sticky rice, it had no flavour, very bland indeed. There also wasnt a huge amount of choice for our kids, who arent fans of spicy food. I found the sticky chicken very nice indeed but it was too hot for my son. It might be an idea to consider a kids menu where the spices are toned down. Overall we had a good experience, it was probably a little expensive for what we had, but I would come back.

The service provided by the waiting staff was good, very polite and attentive. However, the wait for the food was very long, I didn't time it but there were several disgruntled, hungry looking tables around us. It cojld be that it was Saturday night and quite full but they shouldn't take so many bookings if the kitchen can't cope! The food was good when it arrived, although we would have eaten anything by that time!

People who are actually rating this place with 5 star have clearly NEVER tried Authentic Thai food in their life. THIS food is not Thai at all, please call it something else🙏🏽 it's really not good to serve something in the name of a particular cuisine while it's nowhere close to the real one. Thank you.

Called to book a dinner for 14 guests. Person on phone did not help, couldnt be bothered, and told me they cant hear me. Good work youve just blown min £350 for the restuarant on a Tuesday night.

Great restaurant in Bracknell, probably the best in town (except maybe the rooftop terrace in Fenwick). The staff are very pleasant and the food is fantastic. There is a good atmosphere but it is usually very busy.

Good food. Good service but it was like a fridge inside. I did ask if they could turn the air con down considering it was early February and freezing outside. But they didn’t which spoiled it a bit. Food was good so I may come back in the summer

When I booked the table I mentioned in the comments that it was for my dads 85th birthday. The servers brought out a dessert at the end with a candle, and happy birthday drizzled in sauce!! Very nice touch! Thank you so much!

Worst day of the year. Valentines night. Very busy. When we arrived at 7 30 we were told we had to vacate the table by 9 30. We didn’t get our meal until 8 30. Very disappointing king prawn Pad Thai was just noodles. Reminiscent of the awful Chinese food of the 60s We had possibly the worst table possible. In front of the entrance doors which was left open most of the time on a very cold night. To his credit the waiter brought us a fan heater, which did help. I think it will be a long time before we visit again. Very disappointed. George Cator.

Great flavours but quiet night and no dish was served lukewarm warm. Nice beer good wine polite service. Need to improve their delivery from back of house.

We’ve eaten at Bracknell before and it was very nice. This lunchtime staff were very pleasant. Starters cane x2 of the starters were edible the squid bites had no visible squid in them. The mains took a while to arrive my granddaughters noodles where warm at best chicken not nice. My seafood in honey was not good it was very greasy of which I did inform the staff. A very expensive lunch we did not feel able to eat. They did take £17.00 off a £127 bill. But we will not be returning sorry!

Food is always excellent at Giggling Squid, however service is extremely slow. Starters arrive 30 minutes after ordering followed by an hour wait for mains which arrived 10 minutes before we were supposed to vacate the table. No staff checked in on the table at any point except for the host once, who was excellent but clearly rushed off his feet the whole evening. Tap water requested and never arrived until we “reordered” with the host. They appeared to only have 1 waiter covering about 14 tables. (We witnessed other diners leave due to the extremely long wait and minimal service) We will not be revisiting for some time. Every time we come, there is always an issue with service, although the food is always excellent. Previously have received the wrong dish / been forgotten upstairs.

My husband and I visited for a Valentine dinner last night. We arrived at 7:30 and were asked that our table be vacated by 9:15. This isn't a problem for us, we thought. However! We ordered by 7:40 and our starter didn't arrive until 8:15, after we asked the waitress where it was. Once the plates were cleared, we waited and waited and waited and continued to wait until 9pm for our main course.. when it didn't arrive, I put on my coat and told the waiter that we were leaving and that we would not be paying! He apologised and said it was the busiest day of the year! Sorry mate, no excuse for poor service. At no point during our waiting time did any of the staff offer an apology for the wait or offer us more drinks while we waited! Very poor show GS

First time going here what a great restaurant food come out quick very tasty and staff where amazing definitely come back soon

We were visiting from north wales. We booked our table on line, which was very easy. I had the dumplings to start. They were very nice, in a lovely sauce. My partner had the salt and pepper squid. He really enjoyed it. For my main I had Thai red curry with slow cooked beef. Omg. Very delicious and tasty my partner had basil chilli and prawn stir-fry. He really enjoyed that. We had a lovely few hours. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. Next time we visit we will call again.

We visited here for my sister’s birthday and it was incredible!! All of the staff were so attentive and friendly it really made the experience 12/10! Food was delicious and full of flavour will definitely be coming back :)))

I was very disappointed with my food! The first I ordered food from here. It was really good. This time. The calamari was cold and overly chewy. The curry had no flavour very disappointed.

The meal was a car crash from start to finish. There were 12 of us, we have preordered and arrived at 5.30 and yes it took them hours to get any food to us. We didnt leave til 9 it was that slow. Food was so spicy we couldnt eat it. Mains were tasteless and the green beans were rock solid, then our desserts came and they were all still frozen. I’ve always loved giggling squid but it was laughable.

We've been to other Giggling Squid branches and have enjoyed the food, but unfortunately we had a bad experience at this branch. We ordered massaman curry, basil stir fry and jasmine rice. The rice was rock hard and too dry. It tasted like rice that had been precooked in the morning and had been sitting there kept warm all day. The basil stir fry was so so so unbelievably salty, the basil was dark and dry, and worse of it you could not taste any basil at all. Again it tasted like something that had been cooked hours earlier and had been sitting there simmering away all day. The massaman curry was the best of the three dishes, but again it was far too salty. The only thing that tasted OK was the prawn crackers. How could they get such simple Thai staples wrong? It's unbelievable. The kitchen need to be given this feedback and sort it out.

Disappointing experience while in the past, the giggling squid has been one of our favourite places.. We were given a table where the people sitting next to us, had to literally move in order for us to sit at our table, while there were plenty of free tables. The starters were delicious. But I ordered beef massaman but was given lamb shank massamam. The waitress and the manager came to apologise and said "they would fix the bill". We ended up being charged for the pricier lamb shank that I did not ordered. The chicken massamam had also very little chicken but lots of vegetables. All in all, a disappointing service and disappointing food.

I like Giggling Squid restaurants, and this one in Bracknell has delightful decor and is extremely spacious. We met up with friends here, and had a range of meals. I didn't enjoy mine as some before, but I put that down to my choice being too adventurous. A great place to eat, so spacious it can take large groups of people. I wonder how busy it gets in the evenings as we went mid-afternoon, when there were no other customers and few staff, though they were not expected, and served us OK.

It’s taken a while to finally get a very good Thai food. I highly recommend this place.

We were looking forward to go to Giggling Squid but our First time experience was totally bad in Bracknell branch. No choice of good dishes. Staff was good and polite but service was horrible and late. We gave the full order immediately as were told to eat quickly in 2hours. 30minutes for starters to come, 1.30 hours came the main dishes. My goodness, the food was spicy and kids stayed hungry. The lady said don't rush we won't worry about the other reservation. Sadly didn't get a table immediately in Tang's Chinese hence tried this one. Instead would have been worth to wait for 2 hours there.

Headed to this place for lunch when visiting Bracknell town center. Staff were professional with great service. Food was great!!! Ordered prawn starters, massaman curry, jasmine rice, prawn crackers. Adding this place to my go-to list

We had a very nice lunch here. Very nice food and service. We were not rushed at all as we were meeting for a catch up. Would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely lunch with friends - atmosphere was relaxed and food was delicious so we all really enjoyed ourselves. We had a lunch platter each with rice, veg rolls and two small portions of mains - just the right size for lunch. Amy, our waitress was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend and we will all be back soon

Excellent night at Giggling Squid, the food was fantastic very tasty and well presented, they are obviously strugging for staff as the service was a bit slow but not that bad. The atmosphere is very load but they cannot do anything about that. Drinks were brilliant and the cocktails were lovely.

Excellent customer service, great ambience and delicious, good value for money food. The Supervisor Amy in particular was very good ; she has great can-do attitude, friendly and professional at the same time.

Had a early dinner. Service slow, no welcome from staff at door. Like doing him a favour spending money there. Squid so tough. Left. Thai green curry chicken. Plain with horriable chicken in it. Not ask by staff if was happy. So just paid and walked out. Looks nice, just not really. Would call pub grub.

Lovely place to eat, amazing welcome on the front door, food delicious and piping hot. Decor is beautiful, venue and facilities very clean Customer service received from Aimee was outstanding always made sure we were ok and asked if we needed anything. Would 100% recommend.

Visited Giggling Squid, Bracknell, on 23 Nov 2024 with family and friends for a Birthday Dinner (7 to 9 pm). Though food as usual is excellent, but had never come across such poor service at any other branch. The staff were not only paying no attention but when complained to the Manager, staff returned very rude. Avoid this restaurant in case you are looking for a relaxed environment or special occasions. Though the food is good.

I marked the atmosphere down to four stars because it's such a big place and lacked a little bit of intimacy. But the food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. I will go again.

Food is ok but not spectacular. Decent cocktails but if you're after authentic Thai/Asian fusion food the Prince of Wales is 1/2 mile away and far superior

Nice restaurant, especially upstairs as not so hectic.Our servers (Joy and Ice) were very prompt and attentive the food was perfect,my dinner partner had the Thai green curry and myself had the sea bass curry.

My friend and I popped into here after a day of Go Ape. She ordered the fried mushrooms, chicken satay and wings. I had the pork spring rolls and chicken pad Thai without the Tofu. We also had two Giggling mojitos one with Lychee base and the other with Mango. The food was fantastic, the Pad Thai was delicious, perfectly coated and came with peanuts on the side. Everything was perfect. The service was great and it’s lovely In there. Would definitely recommend and I will be returning.

Ordered take away from here for the first time having previously visited many other GS restaurant. Food is usually spectacular but the visit to this particular restaurant was disappointing. The prawn crackers were so old they were soft, tasteless and inedible, the prawns were mushy. I Wrote to complain, the food should be restaurant quality, and received a ‘sorry’ email but they did not attempt to compensate. Very poor and not the experience I have had at other GS restaurants.

Nice meal, just a tad to much oil on some dishes, but service was good and there was no pressure or rushing when it came to ordering etc.

Absolutely amazing food, good variety of dishes and all of them taste amazing, especially the chicken panang and melting beef. However we’ve now been here twice (both for birthdays) and the service has been abysmally slow and painful which really sets it back considering it has such good food. Both times we’ve had to chase the staff for our food and drinks, service really needs improvement. If you want faster service I recommend going to the Windsor branch.

We visited for a Dinner and really had a terrible experience. The service was slow/non existent. The food came out luke warm at best, we had no plate to eat on or cutlery for our main course. When I asked for a fork, it took so long that I actually had to leave my table and find someone to ask for it and for plates for our food. The server then brought me a dirty fork which had very obviously been used by another person. We chased to order food, drinks, a glass for the warm beer my husband was served. Just an overall bad experience. When we paid our bill, the person taking the payment didn’t say one word to us, not a question about our meal or a thank for the £120 we spent that evening with them! We won’t visit Giggling squid Bracknell again.

We went there for lunch as it had a deal on - it was Monday and it was so busy and we can see why - the staff were great - food was fantastic and could eat it all again!

Gave up and left, as waited over an hour and still no food yet 4 other tables served theirs who came in after us. Went for lunch meal deal and even had to remind manager that we hadn’t been given prawn crackers. Shame as food not bad in the £10 lunch deal, but service terrible. Won’t return.

After having food delivered from here recently I wanted to bring 2 friends here as the food was so delicious. One dish in particular was just amazing, and I could not wait to have it again. So I booked a table days in advance and I met my friends today, all 3 of us sat down ready for a full 3 course meal, which we had thinking about all day. So here’s the problem we had. The item we had delivered from this very restaurant is not available when you sit in store, the server checked to see if I could have a vegan option they offer for delivery while in the restaurant but unfortunately the answer was no!!! I was told I could go home and order it!! Which means the restaurant missed out on 3 people having 3 courses, cocktails and of course a tip! We had no choice but to leave. Please put the no-chicken sticky chicken on the restaurant menu, it’s really good, in fact it’s delicious. I appreciate you have good veggie options but that item it’s by far the best thing you make IMO. Not to have it available in store to sit down is extremely disappointing. We left, went home and ordered from a well known app just 1 dish! You massively missed out on 3 people spending £££

Service so slow, when asking a server if there was an issue as we had waited over an hour for our main courses I was told we are very busy and everybody turned up at the same time. I understand this but no communication was provided at time of ordering. when food did arrive one meal was cold and the others Luke warm . Will not return.

Lovely food, friendly waitress but she was up against kitchen service that was incredibly slow. Table was booked for 7, starters eventually arrived 50 minutes after ordering and mains at least another half an hour after that. Complimentary prawn crackers were a bit pointless by that point. Such a shame. So much promise, but a real let down

First time at the establishment We were a party of three and we came in late evening. Firstly we were given a pick of seats and we requested a booth. We were told we could have it although it was a place for five and we give a review. However the subsequent service was not expected. It took around 15 mins for a server to come and ask us for drinks and food. When we were placing the order it felt like there was 0 interaction, just writing on the notepad and left. We ordered a tap water and we reminded them of it after the starter came out. We were given one glass at first then had to clarify we wanted a jug for the table. The best service was when the food came out and the lady who brought out the food had a huge smile on her face and was very enthusiastic compared to what we had experienced so far. At the end, our table was cleared and we still had a lot of our drink to enjoy, we were approached by another server in the most unenthusiastic tone if we want the desert menu, when we declined, we were asked “just the bill then?”. We just wanted to finish out drinks in peace. I understand if they had to do the payments had to be done at a certain time for closing however this wasn’t communicated to us and just felt rude. The food was beyond amazing. It was just a shame other than the sever serving us food was subpar.

Visited alone for a quick lunch, whilst in town, and haven’t visited in a little bit so I thought I’d go back. Personally felt let down this time by the restaurant. Sat on a nice table and ordered, food and drink came out promptly, but food portions weren’t as I remembered. Duck was nice but largely fat, and “spring rolls” in the Giggling Set was one spring roll cut in half, whereas previously there were 3 given as the portion? Large portion of rice, but was this to compensate for the lack of other sides? No tables were checked on during the mains, with servers only checking on the food at the end of the meal, and servers appeared too busy to do this- despite only 5 tables. Then to charge 8% mandatory gratuity felt rather rude- I know this is not an individual decision, but to charge gratuity I feel there should be the service and quality of food to match. Disappointed this restaurant has changed as much, and I may return for some nice Thai food, but not in a hurry.

We were giving the wrong information on how to get the free kids meal. Then we were given the rice instead of noodles for one of our kids meal. When we asked for the bill we were told we need to buy drinks in order to get the free kids meal. And then they forgot to hand us are takeaway so had to go back for it. Overall we had a bad experience so wouldn’t want to visit again.

KIDS EAT FREE? Not the case… well, there’s a specific menu that the adult must order from, which allows the kids to eat free. We learnt this information when a £100 bill came out, and we questioned why the bill was so high! Considering we’re a family of 4, it should’ve been highlighted to us that the kids food will be chargeable, if we’re eating tapas. The only reason we are here is because there is a huge sign outside that said “kids eat free”

Oh what a lovely interior - it's stunning! My friend and I stopped by for lunch and we really appreciated the lunch menu- you can choose a set of multiple dishes in smaller portions so you can try a bit of everything. Everything was delicious and full of flavour & very filling. This might be handy to know; most food on the menu are halal. We were happy with the staff they were kind and attentive( but went on a quiet day) prices are in the mid range I'd say-it's reasonable for a good Thai!

I was very impressed by the range of vegan options they had here and how tasty the food was. The only caveat is, I wished we weren't sat next to the bunch of other people eating. There were other tables that were less crowded. I understand it makes it easier for servers to attend to there areas, but it makes the dining experience more intrusive. Especially since we ate lunch at around 2pm on a Saturday when it was quieter.

Amazing place such a pretty restaurant. Tasty food the pork belly and chicken pad tai was the best I have ever had, service by Ben was amazing, such a lovely guy will deffo come here again highly recommend 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was not bad. It didn't excite, but it didn't offend. personally, I probably wouldn't visit it a second time, but it could be a matter of taste. 😁

The food was good, okay, but the service was terrible, I took my girlfriend there, the host came to our table a lot, gave compliments to her, giving smiles, and trying to talk to us, what the hell.

Thai chain restaurant. Modern interior with lots of glass and flower prints. Two rooms. Food was very good and tasted authentic to me. Very nice lunch. Long climb to upstairs toilets.

Shame the sauce for two different meals taste exactly the same.

This is the 3rd Giggling Squid we have visited. Our booking was for 7pm, we arrived on the dot The food was amazing and atmosphere pleasant. There was an entire section of the restaurant not being used, had they thought about it; we could have had a much nicer view. Instead we were left looking out at an empty block of flats and a vacant concrete plot. The servers were friendly and approachable, took our drinks order quite quickly, then once we got our drinks, they took the food order. The starters came out in good time and were delicious, they came and cleared the dishes once we'd finished. Sadly there was then almost a 40 minute wait for our mains. It was 8:45pm by the time we got them. We were a little worried because the booking slot was 2hrs ending a 9pm. Having finished our meal we asked to pay the bill. We found a charge on the bill for something we hadn't ordered. This was rectified quickly. Overall, we had a lovely time. If we were to go back to the Giggling Squid this location wouldn't be our first choice.

Surprised that the (curry) Pad Thai did not come with rice and that this had to be ordered as an extra. I asked the deputy manager if the pineapple Banana smoothie had been freshly made and was informed that it was brought in which explained its artificial flavour-avoid.

Excellent service and menu, beer is a bit pricey nevertheless a very good experience.

Food is nice but the menu is very limited. Staff couldn't be more helpful! Nice decor and in a central location.

We have seen this place many time and each time we said that we must try this once. Today we did. We were slightly underwhelmed. Menu is ok, rice seems to be extra. Portions not overly large, barely any meat in my Jungle Curry. My wife found it difficult to find much chicken in her red curry. Service was good and very friendly, there was a guy from the Philippines who was happy to chat to us whilst we were waiting for our food. The whole visit was pleasant, but not overwhelming.

The food here is nice enough. Salt & pepper squid lovely, mains were okay. Rice is extra and portions are not huge so whilst food is tasty it’s overall somewhat overpriced.

Food was lovely. A good wide range of dishes, all looking like something we wanted to try. Lovely flavours for the dishes we had, including 1 bite salmon, sea bass, red curry duck, and the Thai soft back prawns. Good service too.

Food Was amazing and good value - Felt like other tables were prioritised as we waited a good 15 minutes before and other people got food and drinks before us. Had to ask three times for our drinks which annoyed me - Great Pad Thai and Prawns

Service here was absolutely atrocious. Took them half an hour to even take our order. Drinks took that time again to come out Restaurant wasn't even busy, maybe half full? They came once to ask us for drinks refill and as they never came to ask us for desserts, we were bored of waiting and had to go ask for our bill. Waitress was just standing at the front chatting with the host. Honestly, disappointing for a giggling squid, usually this chain is fairly reliable.

Such a kind, caring, and calm atmosphere with lots of helpful staff, excellent food and a wide range of choices.

In my opinion the second best thai restaurant in Bracknell. Really nicely done decor, good food and friendly staff.

Lovely staff, beautiful restaurant and delicious food

We went to the giggling squid yesterday before shopping round Bracknell and going to the cinema.It is great that this place has loads of gluten free options,I know not many Thai restaurants do it so I feel really pleased when I can eat at Thai restaurants.This is my second Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to.The food was fantastic for starters I ordered the pork skewers which were delicious and had a light smoky kick.The wings I ordered were also delicious,they tasted so delicious,very smoky with a gentle spicy kick.For mains I had the giggling chicken pad Thai.It was so delicious,the portions were amazing.The noodles and chicken were lovely.Same as the rice.I especially loved the sticky rice,they didn’t lie on the menu description!The pak Choi was also delicious too.The mocktail was the best I’ve ever tasted.The service was great,the manager was really friendly and took my gluten free order with so much care.Our server Gosia was lovely too.The decor in here is also so nice,very affluent yet subtle.Loads of photo opportunities!Would highly recommend especially if your gluten free
