Giggling Squid Bath in Bath and North East Somerset

Food was good. Service was better. Had a large party - 18 - so obviously difficult to gauge quality of food with so many dishes served but plenty of manpower available and the service really was impeccable. There was a lack of vegan starter dishes but otherwise the menu was comprehensive and had all the usual Thai staples.

Overnight stay in Bath and I do not regret eating at the Giggling Squid. The food was absolutely divine (I had the melting beef and the name did not deceive!). The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere upstairs was much busier but we were seated downstairs which was pleasant for me after a long day. 100% will return if I come back to Bath!

I didn’t realise until after that this is a chain. Stunning interior but for a curry they said mild I found it very spicy. I was impressed they they had kids meals and my daughter loved her pineapple rice

Central location and easy to find. The restaurant area was smaller compared to other Giggling Squid restaurants I’ve been to so I would recommend booking a table. There is no parking here so you would have to park somewhere in the city and walk to the restaurant. There is a ramp to get in for those with mobility issues. The waiter we had was brilliant and he went above and beyond for us. The food was great and what you would expect from Giggling Squid. Will come back again if I am in the area.

Such a cute place to dine in! Food tasted with multiple layers to it--- like the masaaman curry had flavors of cashew and hints of plum flavoring, giving it a delicate sour taste that adds to the chicken curry dish. We also enjoyed the salmon curry, again delicious but the salmon was on the harder side and lost more of the original soft umami tones. The fried squid was also a delight to the tongue. Appreciated the lunch platters

Been to the one at Harrogate so tried this one in Bath. We weren’t dissapointed. Flowery decor and plenty of seating. We had the shared starters, the red curry duck and seafood platter. All served with a smile.

Super tasty and flavourful food, we ordered a chicken Thai red curry and chicken pad Thai. Generous portions, and a beautifully decorated interior, only downside was it was just two of us and we were sat on a big round table for 6 people - a shame. Still enjoyed it nonetheless!

My wife and I booked here for dinner before a show last night. We travelled up from Devon and were excited by the menu options (my wife has to avoid soy and dairy because our daughter has CMPA). Things started well with a Thai tea for myself and an espresso martini for my wife. Both were delicious. I ordered the crispy squid bites and my wife had the 'One Bite Salmon'. Again, these were delicious and we both commented on how glad we were to have decent Thai food (there aren't many options in our area). Things took a turn after this. My wife ordered the Royal Fishing Boat Curry, I ordered the Chubby Cheek Pork. We also ordered coconut rice to share and a side of roti. We waited to order more drinks as we had both finished our first... 20 minutes passed and nobody came to check our table or ask us for any further drinks. Then my food arrived, along with the rice and roti. My wife's did not. Again, nobody asked if we needed more drinks or even more water for the table... I began to eat mine as we assumed my wife's was on its way. My food looked lovely, the pork was very tender and the presentation was great. But upon eating, I realised my food was over salted and tasted of little else. I'm not fussy, I rarely complain about food. I persevered, wondering if it might be me, but when food is too salty, it's gets worse the more you eat it. I had to stop eating it, hoping I could ask a member of staff to change it when they brought out my wife's food. We waited five or so minutes and nobody came to the table, so my wife caught the attention of a passing member of staff. He seemed confused, but it transpired the curry hadn't been ordered. They assured us it would be cooked and brought out ASAP. Nobody offered us more drinks. Nobody asked how my food was. Eventually my wife's food was brought to the table. Again, we weren't asked for any more drinks orders and I wasn't asked how my food was, even though it was obvious I had an issue given that I'd left most of my food untouched with my cutlery placed as if I'd finished. By this point, we were quite hungry. When it did arrive, my wife was unimpressed with her food. The salmon was dry and the sauce was bland. The staff were polite and offered their apologies when we asked to see the manager. The manager was very understanding when we proposed that it was only fair of us to pay for our drinks and starters. But overall, our experience was a great shame.

Absolutely lovely experience at The Giggling Squid. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, happy and caring. The food was delicious, fragrant, fresh and well presented. The restaurant was well decorated, clean and presentable. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will return. X

There was a long queue when we arrived even though we had booked. We were told that we could only be seated outside, on an evening in October. There were no tables outside under the heaters however we were told we would be moved as soon as one became available. The staff were attentive and took our order promptly After 20 minutes the manager came out and told us he had found us a table inside. He took us to a very nice table and the food was absolutely delicious. So after shaky start we can only commend the staff and we would go there again.

Overpriced. Tapas is code word for small portions = increased margins. If money was no object, it is just a regular thai restaurant. Positive was great, attentive service.

Ordered just a pad Thai. Disapointment no real flavour, no fish sauce or tamarind. Tofu chewy and flavourless. A poor imitation of the real thing.

All looked good till food arrived. Pad Thai and Butterfly prawn pad Thai. Both disgustingly greasy and the prawns still had the intestinal tract in them, the chicken didnt taste of anything and was slimy, the tofu was caramelized and bitter. Never again.

Asked me to wait to be seated in the corridor outside ( eventhough the restaurant was empty including all of their outdoor seating) I was waiting and not attended and I just left

We had an outdoor booking for 6.30pm Wednesday, 27 August 2024. When we arrived we advised the young girl that we had a outside table booking, she said you need to go inside a advise the main counter, so we did, he said go back outside and sit anywhere. Service was slow, staff performed poorly, nor were they interested in the customers or there work. Management need to discuss this behaviour and performance with there staff.

Great and extremely friendly service. Kim served and advised us perfectly. We went there once for lunch and dinner. Both are perfect and extremely tasty preparation.

Eh was expecting a good thai meal from there, but turns out the food was cold and salty, only the curry was okay. The vegetables were soaked with salty sauce and it was unedible, we had to tell the waiter and luckily we were able to get back the money. Hurray! Besides, it doesn't seem like they cooked it right away, the food we ordered was cold not even warm. Furthermore, the thai milk tea was so sweet that I had to add water to it. It felt like drinking condensed milk with water. It was the worse thai restaurant I ever had, not recommend overall.

Starters were great, main course sadly a little underseasoned. Because of some waiting they removed one of our courses from the bill. Very nice!

The food is very good, super tasty. Thai seasoned, so rather spicy. Map can be filtered online by allergens. Very attentive staff. We sat outside on the terrace, very nice atmosphere.

It was the best Thai I've ever eaten. I don't really finish my food so finishing my pat that is rare. The service was amazing and the staff were very polite and positive. It was a very flowery earthy kind of setting. I was a bit overwhelmed because I never been there before but it was good!!

There are good reviews here, so maybe we were unlucky. We found the food average at best and the service dreadful. We ate outside, so we were not expecting too much. We put having to eat our shared starter off napkins down to simple oversight. Not getting a drink I ordered was also an oversight. We were not the only ones outside wondering if the waiting staff were still there.

The waiter greeted us very well and had a smile, which already made our passengers who were just at the bottom very happy. The food was very good.

Giggling Squid in Bath is one of our favorite restaurants. On this occasion, we had a great server - her name was Asena. I want to give Asena a BIG shout out - she was simply amazing and made our experience at the restaurant even more memorable. 10 Stars to her!!!

The food took ages to arrive (an hour after sitting down), multiple requests to check how long it would be, and the starters turned up cold. The drinks order was also forgotten about for the first 20 minutes. Shame because the venue is nice and they have some good outdoor seating opening out into Queen’s square. The menu is good and the food was enjoyable.

We booked a table here for a large group of us and were so happy we did so! The food was amazing, so delicious and had lots of flavour. The way they serve the food in different forms of plates etc was really impressive and added a nice funky touch. Service was fairly quick and staff were very friendly. It was incredibly hot in the restaurant but not much can be done about that. It was an expensive meal but worth it for the quality flavours we experienced!

Ordered take away and every time there is something missing from the order. This time my kids had to share a small portion of pad thai. My chilli and spicy chicken had no taste and a bad smell. Won’t order from here again.

Very noisy. Around 90 seats but the impression of being at least 200! Intrusive chatter, explosive laughter, throwing empty bottles into the recycling bin and rock music outside on the square.p I found the beef massaman curry a treat and the rather bland coconut milk rice, but which goes well in the curry. This meal (plenty enough for me) with a half pint on tap: £26.45 (€30). Rather expensive for a dish with rice on the side and a beer. As unfortunately the city is not very stylish, so the terrace is mediocre. Disappointing, but lovely service.

Starters all good! Just a shame the sticky chicken I ordered wasn't hot basically luke warm can honestly say it was cold on the top and just warm underneath untill you give it stir. Number one thing when serving food make sure it's hot.

Came in for dinner to celebrate graduation with family and enjoyed lovely atmosphere and great food - fantastic service from Asena too :)

Second time eating here. Was gorgeous like last time. We adored the food and drinks, especially the personal touches. We were served by Amalin and Ben. Both were very kind and polite. Couldn't have asked for better staff. We will be back for our next celebration, and are excited to try more of the menu. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The place is nice and the service was great ..the lady and the guy made sure that we don't need anything... very professional With regards to the food, it was OK, not wow but ok. Comparing the food to the price I would consider it over priced.

Where to begin with this train wreck of a lunch. Me and my partner both had positive experiences in the past with this this chain, and were truly excited to go with each other. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing but it’s like putting lipstick on a pig. The food we orders was bland, tasteless and non-authentic. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao but the dish may as well have been a Tescos black bean stir fry… I mean it was not even close to the same dish. I had to ask to make sure it was the right thing… My partner then ordered the Mushroom Larb and the squid. In their defence, squid was good. But the mushroom larb tasted out of a can with no flavour and was the tiniest portion I have seen. This was topped off with being charged the starter price when she ordered from the lunch tapas menu… This has left a very sour taste in our mouths and has put us off the chain for good. Bloody PE ruining everything.

Delicious must go if you like Thai.

MSG allergy ingestion. We ate at the Giggling Squid in Bath, ordered from the MSG freee part of the menu, using the QR Code as well as informing the waiter of the severe allergy to MSG. Within 12 hours of eating here my wife was extremely sick with the typical symptoms of MSG ingestion that she experiences. I emailed the restaurant and never heard back. I then called and spoke to the Manager who seemed to take the complaint seriously. He asked me to send him another email with the exact date, time and what was ordered and they would undergo an investigation. Two weeks later and another email unanswered and still no reply. Sadly means we cannot go back to another Giggling Squid and I would suggest to others with severe allergies or intolerances that they should be aware.

Delicious food! We were absolutely stuffed after a sharing platter and a main with a salad to share so couldn't sample the deserts but we will be back! The service was great, very friendly staff.

Restaurant with excellent location, housed in an imposing building. Good service and good facilities. We chose duck confit and shrimp Pad Thai. Both dishes were very tasty. Reservation is recommended. I recommend!

When I visited Bath, my cousin recommended me this restaurant. We went there and the food is absolutely delightful. The place is a vibe, perfect for an instagram post🤣. One of the staff named April is very helpful and always making sure that we got our orders properly. Prices are affordable and worth it!😍

We went to this restaurant on each day of our two days in Bath. They are based in an old Hospital building. The food was excellent each day, with a dinner one evening then late lunch the following day. Choices are so good, it is brought to you freshly made and is so tasty that you wish for more. Recommended so much.

Found by accident.. definitely a hidden gem. We ate one of the many set menus. Food was hot and very tasty - thank you team!

We have been to many branches of Giggling squid and this one must be one of the best. The pork belly for staters just literally melted in your mouth while the lamb curry was beautifully cooked with a well mix of tastes. Not to forget mentioning the sticky chicken and chicken money bags. Classic and so Thai. We love all the food and the decorations. Make us feel super welcomed and special. The staff is knowledgeable and super helpful. Will definitely be back.

This restaurant is fantastic. There was a great atmosphere when I arrived on Friday evening. The food is amazing with some interesting dishes that you don't see on standard Thai menus. Our waitress was brilliant; attentive, friendly, efficient and personable. And the building is beautiful and has outdoor seating which is set on a square. I would definitely recommend and would be happy to go back.

We were in Bath over the weekend and wanted to try this place as we have got their recipe book! Went there for a light bite and ordered pork belly, prawn dumplings and duck spring rolls and a couple of singha beers. Everything was spot on and reminded of our holiday in Thailand! The menu is interesting and offers a good variety! We took advantage of the sunny weather and got a table outside - for Thai under the sky experience ! The ambience inside also is very beautiful and inviting! The staff was nice and friendly! Overall a great experience! Wish there was a branch in Liverpool too 🙂

Was a bit disappointed - have eaten at the Bristol restaurant and it was amazing and the bath branch just didn't meet my high expectations! Nice quick service though.

The venue is lovely but we were quite disappointed with the food here. It was a Tuesday night so maybe they were having an off night. I do think there are better Thai restaurants in the area.

Had a party of 10 food arrived out of sync rice arrived even later waiter said it was because they only had 3 woks my thoughts was why serve so many covers then WHAT THE WOK😱

No acknowledgement of my son’s birthday despite it being specified on the booking. Our waitress was very sweet and the food good as always, but there were several unsmiley men standing about not doing much. Not hugely welcoming.

My mum and I went for her Birthday meal yesterday and the service we received was excellent. The staff definitely went above and beyond, we had a lovely middle table set up and my mum was kindly given a complimentary dessert. The staff really made her feel special and I can’t thank them enough x
