Giggling Squid Bath in Bath and North East Somerset

I had a hen do here for a big group of 14, and everything was spot on! We pre-ordered, and the food came out quickly and just as we requested—everyone loved it, no complaints at all. The service was ace, and the drinks were top-notch too. Can't thank the team enough for making our celebration so special with the fab food! Would definitely recommend for any large gatherings!

The food took a long time to prepare. It was supposed to be a special occasion for my daughter's First Holy Communion. But, when we informed the server/staff (I forgot to ask her name and I don't want to know) if my daughter can have her dessert, and I told her to have my left over main food which was still so many for take-away. She didn't understand. She put my daughter's plate on top of my plate which was supposed to be for take away. So ofcourse, it was already dirty or not hygienic. I told her that was for take away, she said 'Oh, I thought you said take away- to take away from here'. What?? I asked for the manager and the manager made my 1st order as complimentary but still billed the new order for takeaway. It was such a bad experience. The only positive thing was the interior design which i initially chose because of the occasion.

Beautiful venue with a wide menu full of tasty dishes. Lovely service with staff that are attentive but quietly working in the background. The portions were fab and it was good being able to customise dishes with a protein of your choice.

Enjoyed the tapas and the decor. Would go again.

No acknowledgement of my son’s birthday despite it being specified on the booking. Our waitress was very sweet and the food good as always, but there were several unsmiley men standing about not doing much. Not hugely welcoming. Edit 3/5/25: EXACTLY the same experience as last year (!) so definitely not acting on previous feedback. No acknowledgement of my son’s birthday and a surly manager. Go to Giggling Squid Clifton instead if you like the food (which is always good).

This food restaurant, one of a franchise. Very busy and not enough staff. Food served hot and very tasty. Would recommend

3 of us went for an early evening meal before comedy at Komedia over Easter. The place is beautifully decorated, staff were very friendly and informative, all 3 meals were superb. We all had a fantastic time and will certainly be returning for more.

Was very busy when we arrived, but the table was ready after just a few minutes wait. Food was outstanding.

Our server was knowledgeable and respectful with our coeliac son and all the dishes were delicious. Thank you for an excellent dinner.

What a buzzing eclectic place. Food was delicious, especially sharing starter. Wish you did a sharing main course option. Service was perfunctory at best, but it was busy and late - sadly there was no enjoyment in the role!

Fantastic food and service. Lovely lunch for 5 of us including 2 kids.

Nice interior/decoration, full of flowers. I had Thai Garlic Hake, it was really tasty, and delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, crunchy outside, tender inside, with the perfect sauce. Because it's a Thai Restaurant, so I chose Thai Tea for the drink. It wasn't as good as expected. They have indoor seating, and outdoor seating. Toilet for customers is available.

Nice place to eat. Not the greatest dining experience though. Rather bland and not all the dishes came to the table together.

The waiter we had was OK, but not the most attentive. The wait for food was long and not worth it, l did not eat mine the texture (slimey) and taste were wrong, should chicken be that rubbery? Not asked if food was OK.

The food was very nice like any other Giggling Squid. The atmosphere was also excellent along with the service.

Starters were lovely (chicken satay skewers and veg spring rolls), but we were disappointed with our mains as they were lacking in taste (chicken cashew stir fry and sticky chicken) . First time we’ve been disappointed as on previous visits we’ve enjoyed it all.

Estaba teniendo una buena noche hasta que fui al baño y caminé junto a un chef con un enfriador morado y olía a alcohol. Más tarde esa noche me fui con mi familia a casa y él estaba afuera detrás de una puerta bebiendo lo que parecía Guinness.

Cené aquí con amigos una noche. El restaurante está muy bien decorado y tiene un ambiente animado. El menú es extenso, pero cocinado a la orden. La comida era deliciosa y las porciones generosas - compartí un arroz con un amigo y era más que suficiente. El servicio fue un poco lento, aunque el restaurante estaba lleno esa noche.

Food did not feel like it was freshly cooked, more of heated out of canned/ frozen food. We ordered multiple dishes and only one was good. The rest were below average. The cocktail and other drinks were also bad.

We had lunch here and were served by Opal. The food was fantastic super delicious and Opal’s the best she’s willing to serve and provide advice on the food with smile. Overall is great!!

Usual wonderful experience as per Giggling Squid everywhere. Divine food and excellent service. Go for the lamb shank massaman curry! Amazing! We booked a table in advance and it was ready on arrival. They made an extra effort due to it being one of the party's birthday and that was much appreciated.

Food was nice but little overpriced for value. Service was okay from waiting staff, no problems but not particularly service with a smile. Good outdoor seating area with heaters for in the evening. Not a bad Thai restaurant in Bath but won’t be rushing back unfortunately.

Absolute disgrace. If you want an upset stomach make sure too visit… I love Thai food and me and my partner were looking forward too trying the recommended giggling squid bath. What a disappointment, the starters were ok but the quid tasted overly oily. The main courses were awful, the sticky chicken was so rich and sweet we had two bites each and left the rest. The massaman curry was full of beef fat and between us we left most of the food. We don’t like to complain so when asked (after one bite) we said the food was ok. When the waitress came to clear the table she noticed that we had left all of the food and asked if it was ok. I told her that the chicken was so rich and sweet that we could not eat it. She offered to get a manager but I told her no as we were so close to other diners I wanted to save embarrassment. The bill came with no comps or anything and it was over 80 pounds. I reluctantly paid as I just wanted to leave after feeling pretty sick after eating. Me and my partner didn’t even venture out for a drink or anything as planned as we both felt pretty sick. It was our only night in bath and meant to be a treat for us both, we were both sick during the night and suffered from severe stomach cramping. We even paid for new train tickets to leave early and get home the next day! I contacted the restaurant to give them a fair chance to rectify this experience in which an “investigation” was conducted. Its findings apparently were to just avoid any liability for this experience. Me and my partner had only had a croissant in the morning of said incident so I highly doubt a plain croissant would be responsible for such stomach upset! Customer service and lack of any culpability for our experience has left me no other choice but to share our experience online which I was trying to avoid! However how we have been dealt with since with no offer of any compensation and complete avoidance from responsibility is disgraceful.

I am absolutely blown away by the Giggling Squid. Within minutes of being seated we had snacks and drinks, swiftly followed by starters and then the mains. The food is fresh, flavourful and filling. The atmosphere and decor are wonderful and the staff are friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend!

Normalmente no dejo comentarios, pero espontáneamente terminamos yendo a un almuerzo de cumpleaños con mi amigo mientras visitaba Bath. Nos atendieron por Ben, que era increíble, atento, servicial. Se aseguró de que ella se sintiera especial y su desierto vino decorado con Feliz Cumpleaños en su plato. Qué amable. Disfrutamos de la comida y los cócteles, todo hecho a un alto nivel. El servicio fue genial y nos encantó esta experiencia. Sin duda volvería allí de nuevo. ¡Gracias!

What an amazing meal and drinks, and the bill was not bad at all for 3 ppl with starters mains and drinks even 1 coffee for myself

Went here on a first date. It’s a beautiful restaurant and perfect for a spontaneous date night! Food was delicious. Didn’t have to wait long for either the food or the drinks which was great considering it was heaving! The cocktails were VERY strong, we both had two and left feeling a tad tipsy! Only downside to this was where we were seated which was quite close to the toilets and most of waitresses/waiters were stood around us, not that it bothered either of us! Other than that, definitely recommend going here!

The meal was generally good and the main server team friendly. But, when making payment with two gift cards they were refused because they were out of date. The catch (which no one in their right mind would see coming) is that they were one day over their year’s use because of the leap year! The assistant manager - James - was truly one of the most arrogant, rude and patronising members of the team I think I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He was so rude, standing aggressively over the table like he was ruling it all whilst informing us we were wrong. But, they already knew it was my Mum’s birthday, they knew we were celebrating as she was recovered from a serious health condition and operations. They knew this but didn’t care and not only wouldn’t help but decided being rude was far more important. It was genuinely disgusting. So, it is promised it would be sorted over email and to save the hideous embarrassment we paid and left - to our horror the debacle continued via complaints with James (assistant manager no less) continuing his rude diatribe and then the supposed operations manage being equally useless. This place is not cheap, the food whilst good is not amazing and the management team are appalling. This was supposed to be a celebration and the gift cards were for my parents birthday so this was just a mess and so poorly handled. Bath has lots of better places to go - Thaikun is far better food and the staff always amazing. Whoever hired and trained James needs to consider what a poor job they have done and that customers deserve to feel happy, welcome and positive even if there are issues to sort. It was also his issue to sort and he refused to try. Rude, rude, rude and just will never go back and I hope this review saves others from this awful experience. I wondered why it was so quiet in there and now I know! You have been warned…

Had a really lovely experience here. We were served by Nat Papa who was super lovely and attentive. The food was 10/10 will definitely come back!

This was one of the most overpriced restaurant experiences of my life. Sticky chicken was completely cold. Penang curry was so fatty I spat pieces of meat out. Sticky rice was evidently cooked too long in the plastic that it congealed together in an inseparable mess. How dare you charge the same prices for takeaway and eat in. Takeaway customers aren’t using plates and cutlery, being served by your wait staff and don’t have the restaurant experience. What possibly justifies the price? Honestly, shameful. £35. For that? I feel like I’ve been robbed.

We had a fantastic service by Nande and Natan Pope who made out visit special with their warm smiles and fantastic service. The food was amazing too!

We first encountered the Giggling Squid chain in Chichester and adored it. The Bath restaurant is uniquely Thai and the food was splendid.

The food does not match its price. £20 for soft shell crab but only 2 small pieces of crab and two prawns. There are only less than 10 slices of chicken in the massaman curry. I also ordered the egg fried rice but it seems to be a mix of rice and egg.

The pad Thai was not up to my standards of good and flavourful Thai food. Not sure what all the rave reviews were about. My Pad Thai was bland and disappointing. It was hard to get the attention of service staff as it was very busy. Personally I would not go again. The decor and vibe was nice though

Great service - staff had a brilliant knowledge of the menu and helped recommend some sides to compliment the main dishes. Food was fantastic - well cooked, full of flavour, nice and warm and served quickly. Will definitely be coming back and recommend anyone else to make the trip!

Food looked nice but was almoat fridge cold and largely tasteless. The restaurant cleanliness was terrible from top to tail. I've wanted to visit here for a long time and left very disappointed after a £85 lunch for me and my husband. Service was good tho!

The ambience was perfect n the service was impeccable. Unfortunately I had the prawn pad Thai n I had diarrhoea the whole morning n fever. I believe that the eggs in the pad Thai was bad. My partner had green curry chicken n we shared the deep fried squids n he is all good. Please check on the ingredients of the pad thai to prevent recurrence. It’s really bad food poisoning. I am from Singapore btw n my holidays to Bath is spoilt !!

Well, in addition to being in a charming town, the restaurant is beautiful. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, the waiters were very friendly. The dishes were generous and the food was very good. We really liked that they had a variety of beers, the prices are very acceptable. I recommend it for lunch with friends, for families, and at night for couples, it's super romantic.

Food was absolutely lovely so tasty. Service was quick and attentive. Only downside is you had to order your main meal and then order rice or noodles so little frustrating that it wasn’t part of the meal. But all in all lovely .

I recently popped in for a meal and was thoroughly impressed! The food was top-notch and the drink selection was amazing—definitely a highlight. The staff were knowledgeable and helped recommend some great dishes, creating a warm and welcoming vibe throughout my visit. Only downside was that the service after the starter was a bit slow, but once the food arrived, it was all worth it. Cheers to the Gigglers for a lovely evening!

Always a good meal here. Busy, noisy room and good service. 2nd time at this branch and such a good choice. We have opted for Yum Yum, another Thai restaurant in the past, cheaper and more aimed at students, but decided to come back here. Wider selection and larger portions-all price related, but good value and very tasty and hot.

Food was good. Service was better. Had a large party - 18 - so obviously difficult to gauge quality of food with so many dishes served but plenty of manpower available and the service really was impeccable. There was a lack of vegan starter dishes but otherwise the menu was comprehensive and had all the usual Thai staples.

Overnight stay in Bath and I do not regret eating at the Giggling Squid. The food was absolutely divine (I had the melting beef and the name did not deceive!). The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere upstairs was much busier but we were seated downstairs which was pleasant for me after a long day. 100% will return if I come back to Bath!

I didn’t realise until after that this is a chain. Stunning interior but for a curry they said mild I found it very spicy. I was impressed they they had kids meals and my daughter loved her pineapple rice

Food was good, service was too, the atmosphere was ok, it was very quiet.

Central location and easy to find. The restaurant area was smaller compared to other Giggling Squid restaurants I’ve been to so I would recommend booking a table. There is no parking here so you would have to park somewhere in the city and walk to the restaurant. There is a ramp to get in for those with mobility issues. The waiter we had was brilliant and he went above and beyond for us. The food was great and what you would expect from Giggling Squid. Will come back again if I am in the area.

Yummy food of course 🤤lovely view including the Theatre Royal. Live music from opposite and a very happy customer (moi)! For the whole time there I forgot I have to walk with crutches 🤗

Beautiful restaurant and stunning food.

Such a cute place to dine in! Food tasted with multiple layers to it--- like the masaaman curry had flavors of cashew and hints of plum flavoring, giving it a delicate sour taste that adds to the chicken curry dish. We also enjoyed the salmon curry, again delicious but the salmon was on the harder side and lost more of the original soft umami tones. The fried squid was also a delight to the tongue. Appreciated the lunch platters

Been to the one at Harrogate so tried this one in Bath. We weren’t dissapointed. Flowery decor and plenty of seating. We had the shared starters, the red curry duck and seafood platter. All served with a smile.

Super tasty and flavourful food, we ordered a chicken Thai red curry and chicken pad Thai. Generous portions, and a beautifully decorated interior, only downside was it was just two of us and we were sat on a big round table for 6 people - a shame. Still enjoyed it nonetheless!

Absolutely lovely experience at The Giggling Squid. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, happy and caring. The food was delicious, fragrant, fresh and well presented. The restaurant was well decorated, clean and presentable. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will return. X

My wife and I booked here for dinner before a show last night. We travelled up from Devon and were excited by the menu options (my wife has to avoid soy and dairy because our daughter has CMPA). Things started well with a Thai tea for myself and an espresso martini for my wife. Both were delicious. I ordered the crispy squid bites and my wife had the 'One Bite Salmon'. Again, these were delicious and we both commented on how glad we were to have decent Thai food (there aren't many options in our area). Things took a turn after this. My wife ordered the Royal Fishing Boat Curry, I ordered the Chubby Cheek Pork. We also ordered coconut rice to share and a side of roti. We waited to order more drinks as we had both finished our first... 20 minutes passed and nobody came to check our table or ask us for any further drinks. Then my food arrived, along with the rice and roti. My wife's did not. Again, nobody asked if we needed more drinks or even more water for the table... I began to eat mine as we assumed my wife's was on its way. My food looked lovely, the pork was very tender and the presentation was great. But upon eating, I realised my food was over salted and tasted of little else. I'm not fussy, I rarely complain about food. I persevered, wondering if it might be me, but when food is too salty, it's gets worse the more you eat it. I had to stop eating it, hoping I could ask a member of staff to change it when they brought out my wife's food. We waited five or so minutes and nobody came to the table, so my wife caught the attention of a passing member of staff. He seemed confused, but it transpired the curry hadn't been ordered. They assured us it would be cooked and brought out ASAP. Nobody offered us more drinks. Nobody asked how my food was. Eventually my wife's food was brought to the table. Again, we weren't asked for any more drinks orders and I wasn't asked how my food was, even though it was obvious I had an issue given that I'd left most of my food untouched with my cutlery placed as if I'd finished. By this point, we were quite hungry. When it did arrive, my wife was unimpressed with her food. The salmon was dry and the sauce was bland. The staff were polite and offered their apologies when we asked to see the manager. The manager was very understanding when we proposed that it was only fair of us to pay for our drinks and starters. But overall, our experience was a great shame.

There was a long queue when we arrived even though we had booked. We were told that we could only be seated outside, on an evening in October. There were no tables outside under the heaters however we were told we would be moved as soon as one became available. The staff were attentive and took our order promptly After 20 minutes the manager came out and told us he had found us a table inside. He took us to a very nice table and the food was absolutely delicious. So after shaky start we can only commend the staff and we would go there again.

Overpriced. Tapas is code word for small portions = increased margins. If money was no object, it is just a regular thai restaurant. Positive was great, attentive service.

A great atmosphere in a lovely building in central Bath and though super busy, staff were really helpful, calm and efficient. Interesting traditional Thai food with great flavours.

Ordered just a pad Thai. Disapointment no real flavour, no fish sauce or tamarind. Tofu chewy and flavourless. A poor imitation of the real thing.

All looked good till food arrived. Pad Thai and Butterfly prawn pad Thai. Both disgustingly greasy and the prawns still had the intestinal tract in them, the chicken didnt taste of anything and was slimy, the tofu was caramelized and bitter. Never again.

Asked me to wait to be seated in the corridor outside ( eventhough the restaurant was empty including all of their outdoor seating) I was waiting and not attended and I just left

Very nice food and very nice waiters, drinks are a bit pricey for what they are but other than that it was amazing 100% would recommend.

We had an outdoor booking for 6.30pm Wednesday, 27 August 2024. When we arrived we advised the young girl that we had a outside table booking, she said you need to go inside a advise the main counter, so we did, he said go back outside and sit anywhere. Service was slow, staff performed poorly, nor were they interested in the customers or there work. Management need to discuss this behaviour and performance with there staff.
