Gibson’s bistro in North Norfolk

I was early for a nail appointments so popped in for coffee. I spoke to a staff member who said to sit anywhere. Then I waited...And I Waited...And I waited. Then after 20 minutes I left without being served. Appalling staff attitude. Will not be returning or indeed recommending this place to guests of our own holiday business in future.

Excellent Bistro with fantastic food. I had a Cromer crab linguine which was amazing. When in Cromer you must sample the crab. Good service although busy. The only drawback is that it is situated on a busy junction in the town and parking is difficult.

Gibsons Bistro is a great place to eat. We ate here after reading reviews and we weren’t disappointed, far from it. There was a warm welcome and were shown to a nice corner table. We ordered drinks while we perused the menu which was wide ranging. The food arrived and was beautifully presented and extremely tasty as was the dessert! The evening was excellent from start to finish with wonderful staff, excellent service and delicious food!

We visited during a family holiday to Cromer and had a lovely Sunday lunch. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, and the food was really tasty and clearly all freshly prepared.

Fabulous, they where serving tappas we had 4 dishes which was plenty, the two specials of the day and the chorizzo and chicken skewers, all of which were amazing, then squeezed in dessert yummmmmm. The creme brulee with ginger and rhubarb was amazing and the brownie with salted caramel icecream to die for , dont miss this place

Had a table of four on tapas night. We ordered the whole menu and sharing board. The food, service and setting was excellent. Desserts were also great and recommend a Spanish sharing platter for desert would be a great addition. High recommended

A lovely relaxed lunch with great food and service. Whilst I enjoyed the crab linguine my partner enjoyed the liver. A new must for our return to Cromer.

This little Bistro is just great. Service was perfect and the food was wonderful. We shared some halloumi sticks followed by the crab linguine and smoked haddock risotto - both faultless. Topped off by a lemon tart with sorbet which we shared. Reasonably priced wine. Make sure you book as was full.

Lovely evening with friends enjoying the tapas menu on a Tuesday. Very warm welcome by the staff with excellent service all round. Went the extra mile to accommodate our dog and spoil him too. Good selection of traditional tapas. We tried the sharing platter and six side dishes all very tasty. Very enjoyable evening and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend and as we are local will be back!!

Fantastic food & fabulous staff The staff went out of their way to accommodate both ourselves & our dog Willow. Even having the water bowl ready at our table! Every course was delicious & cooked to perfection. An absolute delight. Could not recommend it more highly.

Lovely establishment, really nice pleasant staff and excellent food. The lady server was working alone being assisted by a member of the kitchen crew, she did extremely well. All the food lived up to expectation, in fact it was delicious. Our first time at Gibsons but we will be back. I have eaten at many top establishments Michelle etc and Gibsons is up there with the best.

Good food and lovely staff . We both really enjoyed our starters . The only reason this is a 4 and not a 5 is my sirloin was quite fatty and the peppercorn sauce was tasty but didn’t seem to have peppercorns in it. We would go back though as it’s good food and good service .

Visited Gibson's on the recommendation of a barman in town, being local and not visiting before we soon discovered that this was a mistake and realised we should have visited much sooner. Our waitress for the evening was so attentive and made us feel very welcome. The food served was absolutely beautiful and cooked to perfection, highly recommend the 'crab linguine', and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Will visit again without doubt and can highly recommend. As to the previous review, all I can say is 'get over yourself', why try and damage the reputation of a local family business just because you weren't happy with where you were sat and then post on a review site, shame on you !!!

With the knowledge of what would likely be a busy Easter weekend in Cromer, we booked a table for two for 7.30pm a few weeks in advance for the Saturday night.  We arrived five minutes before our confirmed reservation at around 7.25pm to a rather flustered front of house representative who showed us to our table. Upon arrival at the table, she was instantly and unpromptedly, very apologetic, the reason for this was obvious when it was clear that the table the restaurant had chosen to seat us on was located in what can only be described as the only table in the passageway/hallway connecting each part of the premises - clearly used as a kind of overflow area in the way of passing staff and other customers. Attempting to compromise and having sat down for a couple of minutes, my wife and I decided that we would not have been comfortable spending a couple of hours sat here and concluded that we had been extremely let down by this business so we made the decision to leave.  On the way out we asked why we had been sat where we had been for a second time (the first being when we were shown the table), we were advised again, rather nonchalantly, that it was because they "needed to rejig the layout". Clearly a restaurant that values revenue over customer service. It has been a long while since we have felt so unvalued in a restaurant setting. Assiming this was an overbooking incident - overbookings happen sometimes, the restaurant could have called us earlier in the day or a few days before to discuss this with us and offer alternative arrangements particularly given we had booked weeks in advance.  Instead we felt we had no choice but to leave and try and find alternative and immediate eating arrangements in Cromer which was not easy on a busy Easter weekend. Interestingly, the restaurant attempted to call us 45 minutes after out booking (at 20:17) leaving a voice message, an apology.  Clearly they had realised (or reflected) almost an hour later that this was not how they ought to be treating their clientele. Perhaps the food is excellent here (as implied in the voicemail) but the service is definitely 100% sub standard. How tragically disappointing.  Would we try the restaurant again?  Highly unlikely there are lots of great alternatives in Cromer and the surrounding areas.  Would we recommend it to friends?  Definitely not, we wouldn't wish to be accountable for a similar experience that might befall them.

Here on holiday and walked past this place and noticed how busy it was, always a good sign. We were looking for somewhere to eat on our last night so booked in to try. Really welcoming, could not do enough for us service wise, the atmosphere is lovely. The food was some of the best we’ve eaten recently. Every member of the party absolutely loved their food. Excellent value for top quality. We will definitely eat here again when we are back in Cromer, and will definitely recommend to anyone we know who is travelling here.

We visited Gibson’s Bistro at the weekend for Mothers Day. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere. We particularly liked the beautiful spring flowers on every table.

When we have previously visited Cromer we felt that it was missing a high end eating establishment but this has now been rectified with the opening of Gibson's Bistro. The food here is excellent and the menu choice suitably varied to suit most tastes. The only slight quibble was with the booking process which had gone wrong although the staff were still happy to accommodate us as soon as we arrived.

Top quality food. Great menu choice. Pork belly was absolutely delicious! As was the sticky toffee pudding. Well done Steve! Bar and waiting staff were so friendly. First time here with friends: won’t be the last!

Had the bubble and squeak starter which was delicious. The poached egg was of good quality (deep yellow yolk) and perfectly cooked. Moved on to the calves liver. It was served very slightly pink and tender and moist complimented by a rich jus and delicious accompaniments. Finished with a very generous portioned cheese board. Chef Jack did us proud. A very agreeable dinner in a friendly restaurant with pleasant and efficient staff.

We own shop next door and after working hard re-arranging our shop went for tea as tired ,had a great meal, Great service and arranging to go there again . On reading the reviews especially the poor one about to much salt you have to let him know if you have any preferences ,he is not a mind reader ,my wife didn't like an ingredient asked if he could leave it out and he was happy to do it.

Absolutely delightful. The food was really good, lovely atmosphere and excellent staff. This was a really good evening. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting a top meal in Cromer. We traveled specifically to visit the Bistro as we had heard it was excellent. It did not disappoint.

We were four friends visiting Cromer for the weekend and at the last moment on the day of arrival in town we decided to try this little family run bistro for dinner. Good decision! On first entering the premises the young lady was warm welcoming and pleasant with reserving us our evening table . This warm welcome continued on arrival later that night as we were seated in the window .The bistro was gently lit with a lovely atmosphere as people chatted at the few table inside. Our front of house member was so professional and meets all the criteria for providing first class customer service. She guided us through the menu informing us about the various dishes and wines available and was sympathetic when I mentioned by seafood allergy seeking advice from the kitchen staff. The food ( fish,bubble and squeak,burger and tagliatelle) were unbelievable. This bistro has got it right with fantastic food, great customer service and pleasant kitchen staff ( we made a point of talking with them to say thank you ). Would I return ? Of course . Would I recommend? Definitely . Well done .👍

First time visiting this establishment, the two ladies front of house were lovely, very pleasant indeed. Menu was limited and over priced although food was good. When asking for the bill, we noticed we were being charged VAT, when asking for a VAT receipt upon payment, we were told they can not issue one and no VAT number was given. Essentially we thought they were using a VAT receipt to charge 20% service charge but after searching on companies house they are no longer VAT registered and still charging VAT which is illegal. This is a shame as the food is good just being scammed as soon as you walk in the door. We won’t be back!!

Since Gibson's has opened me and my other half have been into the restaurant on 6/7 different occasions for lunch or dinner. The range of options of food is good with one time being a special tapas Tuesday which was a good interpretation and thoroughly enjoyable. As this restaurant is local to me I have left off writing a review until now as I felt I could give a better overview/feel of what to expect. I can say hands down that the chef's and waiting staff are really lovely and pleasure to be served by. I feel the service is relaxed ( which is nice) but attentive and the food has always been cooked/seasoned well and this consistency has been maintained on every visit both front of house and in the kitchen. The addition of blinds and padded seating was taken into account by the owners ( they listen to their customers) and this along with additional cooling and heating for summer and winter periods makes this a good option unlike some other places in town. Price and portion sizes are ample and I feel they offer a good value at a fair price point I haven't once felt cheated by what we have been served. Also the quality of ingredients is good with local butchers meat and the likes in the menu Today we went in for Lunch 08/02 and there was a special board which wasn't there on our last visit from memory but very much welcome option as I had a lovely trio of venison with mash and veggies which was great seeing it was freezing outside. All in all a good bistro for brunch, lunch or dinner.

4 of us went here for early evening dinner on NYE not the first visit we’d all been before. Food was just amazing as was the service we all had 3 courses drinks and coffee and it leaves you feeling thank god there is now somewhere decent in our doorstep. Matt the head chef deserves to make this a winning and award winning venue. I only wish the same could be said for the black tie disco we went to nearby afterwards that was the other end of the scale in every way. Congratulations to the whole team at Gibsons and we will all look forward to coming in during 2024

A pre Christmas Lunch with a goodly number of our neighbours at a venue with new proprietors. We loved the food which was cooked and presented well and served with enthusiasm . Sea bass was great as was the turkey. Well cooked vegetables. Excellent desserts. A place to come back to in the New Year.

We tried here for the first time last Thursday evening. We hadn’t booked, and the bistro was busy, but that was no problem as the staff went out of their way to get a table ready for us quickly. The food was excellent and beautifully presented.….just what we like with plenty to choose from and using local produce.
