Gia's in Glasgow City

When we arrived there was no one in the restaurant. A few minutes after we arrived someone the waitress knew arrived and got priority. I did not mind them being served before us but I did object to waiting 15 minutes for my change while the waitress had a conversation with the people she knew. I told her that was not acceptable and she said sorry I got involved in a conversation, when I said that is fine but you could have given me my change first, her response was I am on my own, my response was you had ;2 couples and you favoured the other one. I have eaten there on many occasions and never experienced such poor service so maybe there is a training issue here.

The first time I tried Gia, I went to celebrate my birthday, with my Mum and Mother-in-law. Sadly, we had a really unpleasant experience, thanks to substandard food and an extremely arrogant chef who wasn’t happy to hear this. I said I wouldn’t be back….until the lovely owner Theresa replied to tell me they’d hired a new chef, I only saw a few weeks past. In the last 3 weeks I’ve been twice, once for lunch and this weekend with my other half to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant itself it still as stunning, so tastefully decorated and the staff are lovely too. The big difference the past twice I’ve been this time compared to last year is the food, and oh my God, it’s now just delicious, thanks to a great new chef. I’m obsessed with their arancini, I could bathe in the sweet Chili sauce it’s served in and the arancini itself are so moist and tasty. For my lunch trip I had the rigatoni salciccia, a huge portion but I scoffed the lot it was that good. This weekend, my main was the fillet steak with pepper sauce. The steak was incredible, a very generous 10oz and the pepper sauce so good, I asked for another portion. I couldn’t finish the steak sadly as I scoffed all the arancini, a 8oz option wouldn’t been perfect for me - the steak was cooked to perfection for me. We have a regular restaurant in EK we go to so it takes my hubby some convincing to try somewhere else, especially after my first experience. He got the bruschetta, which was amazing followed by the chicken and asparagus and he loved it, and would go back. Great portions, beautiful restaurant, lovely staff and great value 10/10! Will definitely be going back a third time thanks to the talented ‘new’ chef.

My family had a lovely experience at Gia’s. Staff were very welcoming and friendly especially towards the children. Food was very reasonably priced considering the rise in food prices lately. There was a lovely atmosphere in a modern restaurant. Christmas decorations were in place which made us smile and an artificial pink Cherry blossom tree delighted my granddaughters. Customers were dressed in their finery which was wonderful to watch! Food was average, the menu had a good selection for all tastes. My Bruschetta was mushy and my chicken was a bit dry with lumpy sauce. I didn’t complain as I didn’t want to dull the atmosphere. Excellent choice of chicken, fish, pizza, macaroni cheese and sausage on the children’s menu for £5.95 , an ice cream was an extra £0.95. There are 6/7 stairs leading up to the entrance which is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair (if a few strong bodies lift it up the steps). Having lived in Italy, I have high expectations from an Italian restaurant. However, I am prepared to return and order something else as everything else was great.

We went for lunch it’s my first visit as usually drive past. I had lentil soup which was nice and hot and fish and chips. We had a bottle of wine at £21 a bit expensive but restaurant prices. The guy was really nice and the place is lovely. I would definitely visit again

Went here for my mums birthday, what can I say- gorgeous decor, great atmosphere, good terrific & staff awesome. Definitely recommend!

We popped in here as I’ve drove past it a few times. Food was great, we had bread and olives & bread for starters well one of the starters olives nice bread too crunchy, could have lost a filling, wanted bread to soak up flatline sauce with both our mains…. No chance ! That’s 1 disappointment, 2nd was choice of beers Very poor ! Other than that good magic… service good can’t complain staff very obliging & my GF thought the toilets where spotless ! Would really recommend & we will definitely come back ! This restaurant is a must ……!

Dinner here a few times,always five star,going tonight for anniversary dinner.looking forward to it.

A great restaurant in shettleston Glasgow, friendly staff , and good looking interior, food was lovely and reasonably priced ,, toilets are first class , well maintained and offer complimentary basket of products, no complaints and would definitely recommend

Would have given it a 5 but for a bottle of wine which wasn’t even chilled. It also came with an ice bucket , some cold water and a few ice blocks !

I’ve been to Gia’s a few times for lunch or dinner and I always look forward to going. It’s a hidden gem and I fully recommend to anyone who loves Italian food. The menu and food is truly excellent. The staff are very friendly and professional and the decor is beautiful too. It’s a great place to eat.

As usual a fantastic meal. I don’t have any need to go into town as this gem is on my doorstep. Staff cannot do enough for you. Excellent menu to suit everyone tastes. I just keep returning as I know I will leave having had the best food and the best attention which believe me I have paid twice the price for I the town and not even received a smile. Fresh food, lovely decor, friendly staff. Third visit. I hope to be able to return for many years. Pizza, pasta and seafood sampled - always to the best standard. Compares very well to other east end italian eateries. I am always pleased with my bill - always feel undercharged. One of the best pizzas I have ever had. So glad they are on just eat now too. A valuable addition to the area. Now all I need is for them to open a bar and an events space here too!

Their place in king street was good but this is even better. Theresa the owner has a great sense for decor and food and a great asset to Shettleston and her late husband. Will not hesitate to recommend it to all our friends

First visit tonight and loved it. A really friendly atmosphere and the food was excellent. A friend who lives nearby took us along I am from the other side of the city but will get back along. Staff were great too and we had a nice chat with Theresa the owner. Defo recommend........

A reincarnation of a previous favourite from King street in Glasgow now owned solely by the lovely Theresa after the death of her husband .The food is good and the banter terrific and the premises light and airy .Service is slightly slow but given that it’s only been on the go for Two months it’s acceptable.All the best with your venture and as a Carntyne boy who’s culinary choices as a youth were either the wee or the big chippie then the standard here is stellar .

Had lunch with a friend, the service was very good.the menu was excellent and the food was lovely. Very reasonable priced. Not a great gluten free menu but excellent jacket potato.

Lovely place,nice and clean with good food. The service leaves alot to be desired. Bread offered on arrival was never received. Drinks had to be asked for several times,even though it wasn,t busy. The lady in charge seemed very friendly but didn,t seem able to...

Fantastic food, great choice from breakfast, lunch and dinner from this new Tuscan Italian restaurant in the East end of Glasgow. From the decor, well spaced out comfy seating with mix of booths and tables, excellent food and friendly staff. Have been three times now...

As we arrived, my wife who has an extreme egg allergy asked the manager if she had a Vegan menu to which the manager replied "Och see you Vegans". Not an auspicious start. Whilst the food was excellent, the table service was not the best....
