Myself & 2sons went for late lunch one had fish & chips said it was ok nothing special Myself & other son had all day breakfast o m g never seen or tasted such a terrible breakfast so so poor 😢 never ever will I go back both grown up son's agreed food very poor disgusting its gone down hill so much its a shame

Want to give it five stars, but the quality of the food is too variable. At its best it's great, but it's not always at its best.

Our first visit, taken by our granddaughter. She enjoyed her chicken goujons, my wife had delicious homemade lentil soup and I had a proper strong Italian coffee. Our first visit but we'll be back for a full dinner.

We've been coming here since I was at nursery in the early 90s for everything from breakfast to lunch to family celebrations over the years. I remember coming in at about age four for french toast before graduating to the world class chips (although I've noticed "the crispy bits" at the bottom of a bag have disappeared lately), then the amazing fish and everything else Ghilonis has to offer! Phenomenal selection of sweets, chocolate, ice cream. I don't know what to say is more special, the consistent quality of the food for the 30 years I've been eating there, or the warm and friendly staff who have served us. You get the exact same experience whether you're getting a takeaway or dining in. And I have to say the day Ghilonis finally started doing home deliveries was amazing! Saddest day was when it briefly had to close during lockdown. When visiting Ghilonis, we've always felt at home. Recommendations: Chips, Fish, Cheeseburgers, Veggie burgers, chicken caesar salad, mint ice cream.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews but it was very disappointing. They have two sections, one for sitting and one for take away, I went to the take away thinking it would be fast to get a quick panini but it took forever and they forgot about my soup. The panini’s cheese was all stuck to the napkin in the box so couldn’t eat most of it.

Great haggis super and black pudding super and ice cream excellent

Disgusting...ordered 2 fish and chips, waited about half an hour for takeaway and it was utterly vile. Frozen deep fried powdery chips, not real home made chips and the fish was definitely not fresh. Binned most of it and wouldn't order from here again. Possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had.

This is not a restaurant to pop into .The impression we got was if you are not known you cant sit down until you are told , arrived with my mate and went to sit down and told "that table is reserved " no reserve sign on it ??any way sat a another table under the watchful eye of the waitress this was a table at the window complete with a wobbly table , while sitting the waitress who told us the table was reserved was talking to a couple (talking from the time we went in) and saying this will be your table every Monday . the staff must at one point smile , no they managed not to . the food was excellent we got a mini five piece breakfast it was cooked well a bit of grease on the plate where the bacon was but nothing to bad and the price was reasonable . would I go back sure if the staff was given a lesson on customer care (all customers and not just ones they knew )

This place is a wee gem Does Confectionery /food Passed down through generations of quality service We usually go for the breakfast But the occasional main course with there lovely chips does the trick The milk is nice and cold We travel 6 miles to get there Well worth it 👍

Macarooni cheese was horrible, obviously frozen and cooked in microwave! Felt sick afterwards, my friends fish was lovely though!! Also floor was slippy and very unsafe we had to hold onto tables to walk

Staff are friendly, take away and restaurant are always busy. Good selection of food on the menu and always tastes great. Same with their Ice-cream.

One of the best steak pies I've had in a while.

Very nice BUT a bit expensive tables at the top are very tight to get in even for ok size people staff on the ball . The quality is very good I think the same phage worked for them for years so know the job in side out

I had the fish tea and couldn't fault anything. It was a good portion and the food was freshly made. The staff are very friendly and competent. I like the booths, it allows privacy but the staff are always on hand. I'll be back.

Bought a takeaway. Had to wait a while. The chips had more black eyes in them than a bad boxer. Seagulls ate them though, so no waste. Would be better to look at what they are serving, than just give you bad food.

Local gem 👏 The staff have been there since day 1. I always enjoy seeing familiar faces when I pop in. Ice Cream is second to none by far the best in the area. I've been ordering the same food for about 25 years and I will no doubt be doing the same for another 25 year 🤣 .. In my eyes it's the most important wee cafe in Kirkintilloch and deserves a lot more praise for its contributions to the community.

Outstanding wonderful food, both to take away or delivery, the sit in cafe has a wonderful warm atmosphere with lovely staff who make it a wonderful dining experience. Always service with a smile and happy to accommodate any dietary requirements for allergies if asked up front. Always above and beyond, we absolutely love out treat to sit in ghilonis with our 11yr old son 😁 110% recommend that you visit with the family 👍🏻😉

Second time stupidly ordered a sausage super which was poor the first time . The second time was even worse. The sausage was bland and the chips consisted of small Tiny scraps . Never again

Sausage Supper. Soooo good. Cooked fresh. Batter so crispy chips were fluffy in the middle with crispy outside. Best Sausage Supper would highly recommend

Love ghillonis staff are amazing never been disappointed with any of the food it’s always great 1st class been going for years but every week we’ve been going recently the restaurant is freezing we had to sit eating with our coats on The staff are even wearing body warmers they’re so cold sorry Mr Bossman we’re definitely not coming back until you get the heating sorted out

Carry out single fish supper was basically half a slice of mushy fish in thick greasy batter and chips that were tough, not crispy or fluffy. It was awful, tasteless, poor quality, tiny portion and chips definitely not freshly cooked. Won’t be back

Excellent meal and service ... only downside is bill came to £29.60 and gave young female £40 and told her to take £35 and she struggled to work out the correct change .

Ghiloni's fish and chips are the best that we have had, by far, since we arrived in Scotland over two years ago. Friendly service, great quality and portions.

Fish and chips is good. Not the best I’ve had but it was nice enough.

Came here early afternoon wasn't busy ordered 2 Fish Teas. When they arrived my partner noticed a hair on her chips. Told the waitress and she replaced it had to wait 10 mins for a fresh portion to be cooked. Service is great and staff couldn't be any nicer.

Great old fashioned ice cream and traditional boiled sweets in jars. Different enough to be worth a visit. 👍🏻

I take my granddaughters there when we are in Kirkkntilloch and have never been disappointed. Food is excellent and good size servings. Would highly recommend.

Any experience I've has always been good they have gave me a lovely clean table the food is amazing NOT greasy at all. Ice cream is amazing coffee too. The staff are really pleasant I've going there for years and I've never had an issue with anything.

I was there today have been a few times. But last 2 visits not happy ones @ especially today 22.05.22. We sat at the back. Not ready to order straight away we asked for 5min. 15 to 20min later still sitting Waiting!!! My husband went and got a young girl who was nice. But it was the older member of staff that said she would come back and didn't. I watched her chatting to people she knew while we had obviously been forgotten about!!!. Really bad. Then we got our food . But not once did anyone come over to our table to check if all was ok. Or if we wanted more drinks or desserts. This was shocking customer service to say the least. The food itself was good. But this ruined my lunch.... Even when I paid I wasnt asked. Either....so disappointed in this cafe right now.

Best chippy in East Dumbartonshire

Best chippy in the area and actually better than some award winners I've experienced in other parts of Scotland. Good sized portions in the takeaway, perfectly cooked fish in a great batter (not too crispy or too soggy) and great chips. Some of the young staff in the takeaway could learn about customer service standards from the older, more experienced members, but having worked in chippy myself as a teenager, I get that they want to talk to their pals. The sit-in cafe experience is fab, everything just comes together really well. The waiting staff have all worked there for years and they know their stuff. The menu can be tweaked to your taste, they wear masks to protect their more vulnerable customers and they take the time to get to know you, without being intrusive. Customers with additional needs are treated with dignity and respect. A small fish tea is very reasonably priced and suits most appetites. The ice cream is delicious.

A nice place to eat when your in your own or with friends - the staff are amazing - been going here for years. Doesn't matter how far apart your visits are they still remember me and that's something special!

Lovely food, and the owners and staff are always friendly and chatty. Been going there for nearly 50 years. Fish Teas are affordable and delicious.

Went a couple of weeks ago for a wee treat and had the large breakfast,very good,great staff . This cafe has been a fixture in Kirkintilloch from the 1960s,remember going there as a child first taste of Vimto

It is a shop we have been going to for years they always have time for a chat and a smile we have never ever had the need to complain about the food or service we look forward to going to the shop

Very good. Clean and tidy. Coffee excellent. So much better than the Courtyard and Sorellos which are both over rated and over priced. Sorellos/Courtyard also rip off Veterans.

One of our favourite fish and chip shops outside the East of Scotland. Excellent fish and chips and good portion sizes. Their ice cream is also very nice in a range of flavours. Recommend getting an ice cream box for afters for family of four.

Just got a steak pie veg and chips. Pie was horrible something through it possibly ale which is not stated on the menu, chips were dried up scraps. Also got macaroni very dry no sauce whatsoever. Wont be back!

Beautiful Famous Award Winning Ice Cream, amazing selection of flavours and ways they can serve it, wonderful food from take out and sit in is absolutely amazing, staff are very customer service orientated, warm and friendly with quick service. Cannot rate highly enough.
