GG's Bar & Restaurant in Isle of Wight

Thank you for letting us have my Dad's Wake at GG's. The space was ideal for adults and children and the staff were very accommodating. Would highly recommend for any function.

Amazing place great food very filling. Family friendly and also allows dogs. Beautiful setting with a great play park for the kids. Picnic area and enclosed dog exercise section. They also have a pond with ducks and geese to look at and also horses, The staff in the restaurant two men today were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much to ask. Amazing family summer deal on where adults pay full price meal and then kids eat for £3 so for two adults two children and 4 drinks came to £35 which is cheap nowadays :)

GG's bar bent over backwards to support our football academies presentation. Arranged food, presentation spaces and were helpful all day. Extra people and food orders were accommodated and the team were fantastic. Highly recommend for big events. Food was very good.

We came for an event.. very unorganised Took ages for the food, the burger and chips was cold. Small portion for chips for adult. Daughter was meant to have a drink and Ice-cream with her meal, was offered it . Lack of commutation when waiting for food.

We had our 40th wedding anniversary party at GG's on Saturday 12th May. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The venue was perfect as was the food. Thank you to all concerned.

Nothing special, tables could have been cleaner. Lacked atmosphere. Very disappointed.

My parents held their 40th Wedding anniversary this weekend party at GG's and it was brilliant. Working with them to organise the event was really easy, they were responsive to any queries we had and were really flexible with the catering (for example, adding more vegetarian options). The venue is great and the children loved the little play park. Its fenced in so it's safe and it was easy to enjoy the party whilst keeping an eye on the children. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and outside seating. Would definitely recommend!

Superb venue for the island to put on events. Cafe is a missed opportunity, hopefully that will change.

After a long beach walk with our grandson and feeling very hungry, we went to GG's for the Sunday carvery. Had a huge roast with beef/turkey and Yorkshire puddings. Such a good selection of vegetables and cauliflower cheese too. We all loved our meals and can't wait to return.

Buffet breakfast was really good 10/10. Good atmosphere and the waitress with the long lashes was so friendly!

Second Sunday carvery, loved it, had a mixed meat, beef lovely, turkey great, first week, Yorkshires spot on, Second week, lamb ( just like mum's) pork cracking, the best...Yorkshires....ok, 😆 veg... cauliflower cheese, peas and sweetcorn, roast tatties, mash, parsnips, carrots, Brussels, gravy.....just enough room for lemon meringue.....bringing mum next time .....thanks

our family of 8 had a Sunday carvery. It was the best Sunday roast we've had in a long time. Generous amount of turkey, huge choice of vegetables, yummy cauliflower cheese & sauces. Such good value for money. We will be back and we also want to try the buffet breakfast! Beautiful surroundings too, plenty of parking, and friendly staff.

Looked at the pictures looks great thought Will try But it was a buffet and I got lamb which was Chewy and hard Quality of food was terrible

Service was excellent and the food was very tasty. I would definitely recommend and we will be going back.

All you can eat buffet, what's not to like, right ? There are no table numbers so with the slowest coffee machine in the country the poor waitress has to remember who ordered what and where they were sitting, no mean feat. Our 2 tea's arrived (after asking) almost at the end of our meal. BTW the cups are small. Round 1. The plate for my buffet was a tea plate which I managed to load 2 hash browns and 2 eggs and a sausage now it was full but luckily there was no bacon, black pudding, plum tomatoes or mushrooms to be had anyway. Round 2. Some bacon and plum tomatoes..no sigh of mushrooms or black pudding still. They quote a relaxed atmosphere which it may be with fine diners on an evening but it was so noisy no conversation could be had I could barely hear myself think. Basically as a restaurant it's probably good but for an open door breakfast buffet it was pretty poor. We were told they were short of staff but to me it looks like poor organisation. Table numbers, proper plates, tea shouldn't have to wait for the coffee machine, sufficient food items available

Came here a couple of times for food and drink and the staff were great and the food was nice. The breakfast buffet was lovely. You can tell the quality of the food is great 👍

Absolute shambles. Paid over the phone for Spiderman party only for us to get there and them not have our names and tried to argue that my name wasn't there, in the end they said it was okay. Had a great party with Spiderman, l went downstairs for food, which we were really looking forward to. No organisation whatsoever, took our order and then checked it 4 times after that. Waited over 40 min for our food, only for them to come out and check it once more. Pizza tasted like nothing, my daughters burger was pink and her chips must of been cooked at least 4 times. Another family hadn't even gotten there dinner over 1 hour after they sat down. The said they had a problem with the system but didn't think to take orders manually. I would not go again and would definitely not recommend. Really ruined our evening.

Serves amazing food, in a wonderful venue. Would reccomend.

We went for my granddaughter’s graduation lunch. The staff had put bunting etc up the area where we sat. Food was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Thank you very much.

I was so looking forward to this breakfast because the reviews were great, but our experience was awful. Food cold, they'd run out of most things (breakfast) no butter for toast, 1/2 mug of coffee (supposed to be a large size). Overall, incredibly disappointed!

Place looks beautiful so we were all excited for breakfast but it was awful. No table numbers, no menus, no welcome, no cutlery! Had to ask for it twice by which time food was cooling. The food is lowest common denominator canteen food - cheap wholesale stuff that had gone hard. No local produce in sight. No real butter for toast, only marge. Orange juice was warm. Owners have completely opted out of the little touches that make a meal a bit more enjoyable. We waited 20 minutes for teas and coffees which were served with no spoons, sugar, or cup for the teabag. Poor lad (very sweet and apologetic) was having to take orders, refill the buffet, and somehow deliver food without a table number system which was understandably getting lost. Very sorry to be so negative but as paying guests it was frankly insulting. Hate to see lovely island locations let down.

Today we visited GGs for a meal. A lovely meal attentive staff. My friends went a couple of weeks ago and they said it was excellent and Paul went the extra mile. I am so looking forward to my party on Sat. Please give this place a go you wont be disappointed. What a party all the food was excellent many thanks to Paul and all your staff for making it a great evening. The special touch of making a drink for me. Everyone goes that extra mile. We shall see you soon.

Great food, friendly service and a very nice looking restaurant. 24" Pizza... Good luck eating that. Apparently nobody had done it before tonight. (Sadly, it wasn't me that was the first)

Managed to fit in a family party of 12 with only a Hours notice. Great Service considering the List of allergy and Special requests. Food was excellent, atmosphere was Great. The whole restaurant was clean and tidy.

We had a 24 inch pizza between 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 children, along with a side of coleslaw, chips and garlic bread. We demolished the lot, it was good!! The kids had ice cream after. We sat outside and the view was beautiful, very peaceful. Lovely venue. The lady who served us was very polite and friendly. We didn't wait long for our food. There is a play park near where we sat which the younger 2 absolutely loved. Plenty of parking. A really lovely place to go. We'll be back

Great breakfast with lovely views

Nice area, nice inside and out. Chair was a bit dirty. Not cleaned for a while. But the waitresses clean for us no problem. Food was very average. Not necessarily would go again by personally choice

Recently stayed at the fabulous accommodation at the island riding centre. We took advantage of the on-site, aptly named GG’s restaurant. What a lovely place. Lovely friendly staff Amazing food Overall superb experience which I would fully recommend

It was very busy when we arrived so waited a bit before ordering. I think they had some staff not arrive and lots of people arrived all at once. The pizza was hot and tasty though. Staff were friendly.

Worst Christmas meal ever ruined our staff party when we had all been looking forward to it. Ran out of food, three people were given one meal and told to share out the meat the best they could. Three serving only for over 100 customers not just our party over 3 hours to serve food. Pre warned one of our staff had a dairy allergy. They had no idea how to manage this and that staff member ended up with a boiled mushroom for starter and I slice of gammon and 5 boiled potatoes for main, no veg, trimmings or gravy, only enough veg for a quarter of the party. Had to argue that we had ore ordered 10 bottles of wine, luckily had access to my bank account so showed the wine transaction, but they still queried it. Absolutely appalling would never go or recommend this place to anyone

Unfortunately I cannot rate my visit as despite booking a table for my husbands birthday a month in advance, 24th Nov for birthday 5th Jan I have just been informed they cannot honour this booking. They informed by txt saying rebook in March. Appalling ustomer service.

Extremely disappointed with my christmas dinner. Your restaurant offered gluten free meals and recievedvery cold soup as starter, roast turkey as main had 3 smallest potatoes and two small pieces of turkey! All cold!!!! Where was rest of my dinner? Why you offering gluten free meals and you dont delivered!!!!!!! Extremely disappointed and never going back. Extremely expensive what i recieved !!!!

Awful, food was stone cold, they had no awareness of food allergies and handed out food wrongly then failed to act upon this when brought to their attention. Staff were lovely but owner was rude. Acoustic really bad too - could hear people around table

Went this morning at 10.40.Nearly empty.Asked a young lady where we should sit and she hadn't a clue.Just said they had a party of 20 at 12.30!!!!!! and they had to lay up. Spoke to.another member of staff and said,if it was inconvenient we would come another day.Was assured all was OK.Waited.No service so left.Wont succeed if service is so bad.

Have had a lovely afternoon at GG's, with some mouth watering food! On what must have been the busiest day of their year, we were thoughtfully looked after by Gary. What a star! We will be back.

Nice venue and obviously popular as quickly got busy. Food was delicious although gluten free pizza wasn't the tastiest, a little soggy. There are lots of outdoor areas where kids could play.

Shame the chef was off sock so no pasta dishes but pizza's and starters all really nice

Took a travelling football team there after the game for lunch before heading back. They catered for 22 of us superbly. Food was fantastic and play area made it relatively peaceful 😀. Stunning set up. Great staff! Thanks for making it a great day out!

Great place to eat. Original location. Fantastic choice for those with food intolerances (what joy to have the choice of gluten free pasta, pizzas and desserts). Really recommend this place.

Lovely experience great food and great service

We booked a table online but upon arrival there was no table reserved for us. We waited at the bar for nearly 10 minutes to be seated. We were seated on a random table as according to the waitress "there are loads of dirty tables as we had a mad rush at lunch". There was one waitress working the whole restaurant and the other tables remained dirty with used crockery piled up throughout our meal (we didn't see them cleared during our visit). The food was lukewarm, but it came quick. We had paninis. It wasn't amazing but for the price it was okay. Service was slow, understandably, considering there was only one waitress. We appreciated the blue light discount. The venue was nice but it was very dirty. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back and we will not be recommending.

Second time visit. Setting is pleasant with sun terrace and view of horses in field. We had two freshly made pizzas with side of fries and salad. Chips very tasty and seasoned - pizzas were also nicely cooked. Attentive but not intrusive staff. As only recently opened, it gave a good impression.

The food here was really good, lovely service great atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at GG's, generous portions in a lovely setting. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiter. Ideal place to take children with a choice of two play areas....Will definitely be returning and spreading the word about this new restaurant on the Isle of Wight.
