German Doner Kebab in Edinburgh, City of

Very small kebab. Hardly any salad on it. No sauce. A proud €10 for this. In Germany, no one would buy their kebab here.

12 euros per menu but very small! The kebab is skinny!

It is a clean tasty restaurant, you can choose it for a quick lunch or dinner. Only thing that I didint like was portions were small because I know them from Germany and the meat served put into döner box is twice the quantity that they put here in Edinburgh. Normally 1 is enough but I took 2 boxes. Also potato chips with cheese was wonderful, I still miss it 🙂

Great, I recommend. The room is clean and the kitchen looks the same (kitchen visible through windows). Super good and plentiful meal. The sauces look homemade and are delicious too. Nothing to say!

Great service, food average at this price point.

This is based on only one visit but I'm not sure if/when I'll be back so sharing thoughts based on that. I guess it's hard to keep the local business feel of a joint which kebab shops normally have when you make it an international chain. The place was clean and tidy but also felt too polished. £10+ for a regular portion of beef kebab and fries with a drink is not the best value for money, especially when the fries and beef aren't anything special. I guess some of the quality also goes when you start growing the business. Only one of the tills was open so there was a queue before ordering - then ordering itself takes some time as people have to answer all sorts of questions about their food. I appreciate the need for that but let's keep it simple please. Mid experience overall.

Clean, place was very tidy, I think a bossman was on the way. Staff friendly Food was good but expensive for a small kebab, asked for pickle paid 69p for a single slither of cornichon. And another 69p for a sprinkle of peri salt.

The food was really amazing The girl at the counter was so rude , she didn't know how to do the service She asked me to pass the tray in a rude way.

Had a kebab roll and was really happy with it. A little different compared to what I otherwise ate in Germany, but still well seasoned for my taste, not too “runny” and a good portion. In terms of price, in relation to other dishes in Edinburgh, it's okay. Very nice service and pleasant atmosphere, so full marks from me.

Simply the best kebab in Edinburgh

Ordered a panini-meal for collection online. When I arrived was told I couldn't have a panini (second time this has happened) but could have an alternate main. I asked for a refund and was told "we don't do that". The alternate main that was offered also would not have included fries and a drink, as evidenced by my colleague experiencing the same thing and opting for the alternative. There's an issue with the website displaying items that are not for sale that is not the fault of this location, but equally, I was made to feel like I was the problem for asking for my money back when purchased goods could not be delivered. There's another one of these across the street. They do have every menu option available. I'd go there

I had lunch at GDK Waverly on 15th September. I ordered and paid for my food, but while I was waiting for my order, a member of the staff came and said that the transaction was not shown on their account, so I had to pay again. I showed him that in my account it was changed. He said that if I don't pay, they will not serve me, but anyway, if it is double changed, they will check and cancel one change within 3 days. I made a claim to GDK website abd sent all the documents they asked for, and they promised they would refund me within 7 days, they didn't do it. A few days later, I made a reminder and they promised to refund me as soon as possible. It is more than a month now and I am not refunded. I am wondering weather this is a mistake. GDK replied to my above comment saying that they are sorry about my experience , they insist it was not done on purpose, but my money have been stolen. No refund until now (10 November). Even if the double change was by mistake, can anyone consider it mistake that 2 months later nobody is willing to refund my stolen money?

Complete discovery German type kebab with salad/cabbage etc... The whole thing is harmonious, neither too much meat nor too much garnish. The garlic sauce is to die for, the curry ketchup is the same, the children's menu is very very generous. The table service with a designated table (a plus), the patient staff on our choice because discovering the menu I recommend, to do absolutely.

For all non-Caucasians, just know this location favors and provides more courteous service to Caucasians!! Basically if you’re Indian, get ready to wait and get horrible service! Worst mistake stopping here to eat! Oh and NEVER ORDER THEIR BURGER. It’s disgusting. I have pictures

Great food as always but the person who took my order healthy bearded guy with glasses was rude and is not fit for customer service with that tone. I feel I pay the money so I should feel comfortable to eat what I want and not force me to eat something else just to make your numbers look good. Attitude aside fella and you’re good to go. I’m into professional hospitality industry and worked as a butler for many top celebrities but this guy needs to be briefed well about customer service.

Had a chicken kebab box and it was decent - not as spicy as I would expect a German “Döner” to be and the sauces that came with it weren’t very good. Staff was friendly and the ambience - just a kebab shop in a railway station, what do you expect?

I tasted the Boss box menu. Fast service. Döner meat and bread were good. Sauces were successful.

First time at german doner kebab and really enjoyed the food however, the lady at the counter was rude and was being very stingy with the discount I was entitled to. I thought it had to do with the food chain but I went into another branch the next day and faced no issues with the discount. Would highly recommend changing the staff as it gives a bad image to a good food place that too in a very crowded area.

The Kebab has an exquisite flavor, a good size and abundant filling, approximate value €10

Huge portion , halal, and very near waverly steps are some of the pros of this place

Been first time in Doner Kebab. It was cold weather and those piping hot “Flaming” fries made our day. Best experience. Maybe for people who love spicy and hot condiments please go for Flaming fries and not for spicy dip. Quantity for wrap was impressive. It was huge. And with a meal option it’ll definitely make you full 👍🏻

AWFULL, cheap food quality, doesn't let me do student descount , even if there is chicken option does not let me choose it, very bad stuff (one that getting the orders), very bad experience!!!!!!!

They're battle with us not to give a discount. My brothers, who are 15 years old, are entitled to a discount, but the cashier is refusing to apply it.

Would not give this place any stars as I would not recommend this place to anyone, very dirty got the doner box with salad and it was literally three slices of diner and the rest was chips with black bits through them we paid £30 food was not nice it was litrally the scrapings of the doner as there was none left. the machine was dirty they didn’t use gloves and handled our food our daughter got the spring rolls and there was no dinner in them I’m not usually one to complain but this place should not be open, will 100% not be back

2 days ago with my friend we went to there. I'm not happy. because staff it is doesn't respect us. And it's not clean. It's dirty eat there.. You know that's big problem. I recommend nobody go there because stuff doesn't respect.and dirty restaurant

We ordered kebab chicken, 1 veggies kebab meal and 1 doner burger meal ( chicken) & 1 doner quesadilla chicken. The kebab veggies and chicken were awesome. Very fresh and flavorsome. The chicken quesdadilla was very oily so will not recommend. Overall, must visit to try fresh kebabs

Slow service and expensive, but very enjoyable after it arrived.

Really nice Kebab. The bread almost looked like a waffle. And the meat was nice and slightly crispy. Totally worth a try.

My first time in German Doner Kebab, and it was lovely. I ordered a gym box and a Diet Coke, and the food came fresh with homemade sauces, everything for around 10 pounds. The lady who took my order was amiable with a big smile.

This place is horrible, just go to the one over at st James, bought spicy fries and they sprinkled them over the top. No meat at all. Basically 8 quid on chips. Fumming

Das soll ein deutscher Döner sein? Junge, das war der traurigste Döner, den ich je gegessen habe. Wo ist die Soße? Winzig kleine Portion, Denis Gashi würden die Tränen kommen. Man wird nichtmal adäquat mit "Chef" angesprochen. Und das an nem Dönerstag. Ihr müsst noch viel lernen.

Best kebab I’ve had and reasonably priced. Good app for ordering to table, fast and friendly service. Place is very clean and looks modern.

As a German I can say the döner is pretty okay. We had the vegetarian döner which is filled with like a fried vegetable ball. You can get a menu with the Döner, fries and a drink for under 12£. And the portion is a very good size. The service was very friendly and cleaning the whole time!

Das Ambiente ist auch ziemlich clean, aber bro wenn du das was du bekommst als deutscher Döner wertest biste einfach nur aus einem Pub geschmissen worden. Der Döner war bodenlos bad aber jungs kopfhoch vielleicht mundet es dennoch jemanden. Ich muss jetzt wieder mein Handy abgeben bevor der Wärter mir es abzieht.

Döner (Lammfleisch) schmeckt grausam. Es gibt keinen Krautsalat, keine Cocktail Soße oder zaziki. Das Fleisch hat noch nie Gewürze gesehen, und der Spieß sah aus wie 2 Jahre im tiefkühler gelagert. Der Döner bestand im endeffekt aus 1/3 fleisch, 1/3 rotkohl, EINER SCHEIBE Tomate, und ein wenig gehacktem Salat. Die Soße war eine Kombi aus den einzigen drei Soßen die es gab: Joghurt, knoblauch und scharf. Es war weder scharf, noch hatte es irgendwas mit knoblauch zu tun. Für diese Schande musste nicht nur ein Lamm sterben, sondern mein Portemonnaie war dazu noch ganze 8£ leichter. 9,30€ für nicht nur den schlechtesten Döner, sondern das schlechteste Essen das mein Magen je verdauen musste! Diesen Laden "German Döner kebab" zu nennen, ist eine beleidigung der deutsch/türkischen Kultur und der Laden gehört geschlossen!

Whilst visiting Edinburgh we came across this German Doner Kebab outlet in the Waverley Station complex. We were served promptly by a friendly member of staff. Delicious food in good portion sizes. Reasonable prices. Wheelchair accessible and disabled toilet nearby.

Ready to give up on German Donner Kebab. Ordered the Kebab box with salad and fries. Box full of salad and some fries but almost no meat. That is cheating the customer. My custom will now go elsewhere. Avoid this place.

This is gdk so it's fire. But this gdk isn't as fire as the others near, if you have the time I strongly suggest going to the other 2 near by. These fellas be skimping on the sauce.

Poor food and poor customer service and they overcharged my son for his meal and didn't admit they were in the wrong. Worse ever GDK I have visited and definitely will not return!!

Went there just after arriving in Edinburgh from Naples, ordered a kebab and a can of drink and was to pay in cash. Was told that there was no change available! Glad that there are other food outlets there capable of executing a simple transaction as we were quite hungry.

Visited on Tuesday the 28th, the staff were amazing, so helpful and kind after our little accident, big gold star for service. The food was very fresh and well priced, enjoyed our visit. Thanks again for all the help and understanding.

Another visit with my Lovely Wife at this Kebab place. Best of all across Edinburgh.Friendly staff, freshly made meals all the time. I would recommend having the tip jar for all Your efforts.

Just finished our coco kebabs. We have been many times in Lothian road, st James. But it’s one at Waverley has THE best consumer service, always friendly and the tastiest kebabs ;) always warm! Here we were never disappointed!!! Great place! St James in our opinion is at the end of our choices.

Only called for coffee X3. Unfortunately there was no sweeteners available. Spoke to bar staff and someone went downstairs to check. But none were found!! How can this happen in a popular Weatherspoons establishment. Very disappointing!!

Not as interesting as other venues, but a good place to relax and eat comfortably.

Love this place, the food is always fresh and super tasty! The cocktail was delicious and you can get stein's here! Staff are always polite and friendly and the place is clean and well decorated!

I have visited the German Doner kebab in waverly market , the food quantity given was extremely less when compared to the other branches. The highlight was customer service was extremely rude , there was a girl who was passing rude comments with the choice of the food we ordered and person in charge was also laughing with her . Never going back ever again.

Ordered just before my train and had about 10 mins before I had to leave, there was no visible queue when I ordered and the staff were just standing around not doing much. Despite asking several times politely where my order was I had to run away without my food otherwise I would have missed my train - very slow and poor service, you shouldn’t have to wait 10+ mins for fast food.

Finding Halal food In Edinburgh is normally difficult as it’s usually it’s scattered around, also expensive and it can be usually be disappointing but having GDK, absolutely hits the mark, and hunger, fresh and very decent price and highly recommend to anyone, the food is delicious 🤤 🥳🥳🎉🎉👏👏🤩🤩

I like the food but one of staff who introduced herself as supervisor was so rude and impolite I complained about food and warm drink but she said you can go to somewhere else and started arguing that i don’t have right to complain.
