Is this venue permanently closed? I went along on Wednesday 19th June 2024 at about 14:30. The shutters were down . Went back four hours later, it was the same story. If it is now closed, could the website be updated please to inform people about this? The website gives the impression it is a going concern and you can make bookings. Am annoyed at making a wasted journey.

We booked a table for a quick lunch and arrived to find it rather quiet. We ordered the business lunch. On the plus side service was fast and attentive. The chicken schnitzel was very good, a well cooked and satisfying plate of food. The apple strudel looked as if it came out of a packet and tasted reminiscent of school dinner pudding. Overall the meal seemed good value, although when settling up a 12.5% service charge was added. There wasn't a great deal of atmosphere and in a way it felt like we were an inconvenience - an accountant type sat at one table with a computer and a company/security type sat at another table, eating a meal while surveying us from a distance and occasionally glaring. Our main server was very pleasant but another one at the bar exuded an impatient, cynical manner. All this would have probably felt fine if we were part of a larger group, visiting at a time when the place was busy and intent on having a beer or two.

I tried this place. It was a good experience but I dont think I will try this place again. It was pricey compared to what they offer. It was about 7£. But the staff was friendly overall.

Just back to our hotel near Trafalgar Square from the wonderful Schnitzel Heaven up in Hackney (about 2.6 miles away). It was farther afield than most of our restaurants, but would have been worth a much longer detour. My wife had a fried mozzarella appetizer--delicious, in a spicy cranberry-based sauce (that put the usual fried cheese with marinara in the shade)--followed by a chicken schnitzel with a side of beautiful, chunky French fries. My Weiner schnitzel, which came with two condiments and a spicy potato salad, was superb. We were both delighted with the fare, which equaled or surpassed what we expected from all the five-star reviews. In addition, service was warm and attentive, highlighted by a friendly reception and check-ins from the ebullient proprietor. The place is small, informal, and obviously very popular with locals, as evidenced by the steady stream of bicycle delivery people taking off with insulated saddlebags and backpacks full of take-out orders. As noted in reviews, the thinly-pressed schnitzels are not only perfectly prepared but huge, barely contained by the large plates on which they are served. My only regret was having no room whatsoever to sample the apple strudel. Prices are almost outrageously reasonable, so quality and value both hit the top of the scale. We could not recommend this place more highly!
