An original cafe with a German name, but Austrian cuisine and interior elements. Next to Imperial College. Very suitable for a snack and a short stop.

My goodness! What delicious food! It's been a long while since I've been able to enjoy authentic German food, and this was amazing! My husband and I both had the Thürlinger sausages (his with sauerkraut and mine with potatoes). Phenomenal! I loved the potatoes, but his sauerkraut was so delicious, I was sad I hadn't chosen that instead. The yellow mustard is some of the best we've ever had (and we love mustard). Absolutely delicious food and a nice establishment. If we're ever in London again, we'll be sure to stop in again!

After watching a concert at the Albert Hall, I was really looking forward to eating some excellent German cuisine at Steins. After scanning the menu the Pork knuckle immediately bought back images of eating a succulent, fall off the bone, juicy joint with crisp crackling in Munich. I always thought how do they make it taste so good, apparently this is also a mystery to the chefs at Steins too. God it was bad, soggy, rubbery crackling, tough & gristly meat which was not pleasant tasting absolutely diabolical. On a positive, the staff were very good, the misses had the goulash and said it was nice. Unfortunately I can only rate my experience so wouldn’t recommend.

If you like the German flare this is one of the finer places to taste in London. Fresh and tasty ingredients, classic German dishes and very good beers. Especially, the Stein’s Dunkel was amazing. Semi-dunkel so not the dark beer you expect. Schnitzels are really good and of course the Bavarian potato salad. Nice terrace on the back in a park and modern insides. Very attentive staff and they’re ready to give you recommendations. Unfortunately i don’t have pics of the schnitzels it happened all very quick :)

Really wanted to give this place a 4. But the Kaisershwarm was the worst I have ever had. I spend maybe a 5th/6th of the year in Germany in recent years. So I have had my share of German food. The rest of the food and cocktails was great. Dont know if they cook the sausages in salt or not cause they tasted way more salty than usual. Inventive German themed cocktails. Basically. Turn down the salt, make the Kaiserschwarm better and more authentic and serve kasierkrainer and you could have 5 stars!

I had planned on dinner at Stein’s Berlin during my summer vacation in London, and I’m glad I did. Situated not far from the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Natural History Museum in South Kensington, the restaurant has a welcoming, Scandinavian feel to its interior. I received a cheerful welcome as I was led to my table about 6:00pm, and service was efficient and friendly throughout my meal. As someone who loves Bavarian food, I naturally chose the schnitzel. This was delicious and accompanied by yummy fried potatoes. A wonderful glass of Paulaner Helles had my mind wandering back to Munich adventures. Highly recommended. You’ll not be disappointed!

A solid place for Bavarian food in a nice environment. We sat on the terrace and that was really nice, although they allow smoking outdoors while people are dining - a bit of an outdated policy,I think. The service is efficient to the point of almost being too quick for my liking. The sausage dishes we had were really nice and a meat sharing platter looks extremely tempting for a larger group, maybe another time. The cheesecake dessert was also very good. Paulaner Helles is kept well and very fresh, but 3 of the beers on the menu weren't available when we visited. Overall a good and reliable option if you're in that area of London.

The fondue starter was nice. We had the Leberkäse and Biergulasch for mains which were both very good. I wish I could review the dessert but we were never offered one. I honestly think we could have sat there for hours before being asked. 4 staff stood around, staring into space, cleaning empty tables but for about half an hour it didn’t occur to any of them to ask us about dessert or even drinks. Despite this we then struggled to flag down someone for the bill. Pretty uncomfortable furniture too. It’s a shame because the food and menu selection are very good. This could be better.

We were there on a weekday lunchtime so it was quiet. They didn’t have my friends reservation despite his email confirmation. First time at this branch of Stein’s, I’ve been to the Richmond and Kingston one many times. Wine list more extensive here and is a much smarter place, reflective of the area. Menu is much the same on the mains. Generous portions, very good food, but my friend found the Currywurst a bit too much sauce. I usually order the sauce on the side for that dish. Portions are huge - we shared a 2 person platter and the pork knuckle between 4 of us and we were stuffed although we did save some room for dessert. Having previously been to both the Richmond and Kingston Steins we were interested to see how it compared. I am pleased to say that despite being very different to the others it was really nice. We were a party of 6 including a toddler and they were great in finding us a really nice table. The high chair was a lot better than many and they were quite happy to bring the child's meal with our drinks which many places do not seem able to manage. A great selection of dishes on the menu including the signature sausage ones. We had Currywurst, Meatloaf and a Wild Boar ragu and all were excellent. A pre event lunch before going to the Royal Albert hall. Atmosphere was good with the bench style seats and chunky furniture. Expected a little bit of the cheesy Bavarian music but there was a chilled electro vibe which worked well. Menu not massive and consisted of Bavarian favourites but with a modern twist. Plenty sausage and Schnitzel and warm kartoffelsalat. The tastes and smells did transport me back to my teenage years living in Germany as a British military kid. The beer selection was good and typically Bavarian. I didn't on this occasion go for a large Stein as would have probably needed a nap at the concert but did sample a Weissbier and will be back for a stein or two with friends next time. Prices were typically London I would say but not overly priced. There is a service charge included but the staff were attentive and available through out our visit. Hopefully if busier of an evening the staff ratio warrants a service charge and they do still give good service. A great lunch nice flavours great food and relaxed atmosphere thank you !

All in all good food but the price is high. For the transparency it would be great if you write that your bill includes a 12.5% “service rate” without it it would be a 4 star rate

The concept for this place was fun! Unfortunately the food was completely inedible. If it wasn’t cold, it was clumsily spiced and nothing really worked. The atmosphere was also very very masculine and we were made to feel super uncomfortable. The band was really good though and super fun.

Is this venue permanently closed? I went along on Wednesday 19th June 2024 at about 14:30. The shutters were down . Went back four hours later, it was the same story. If it is now closed, could the website be updated please to inform people about this? The website gives the impression it is a going concern and you can make bookings. Am annoyed at making a wasted journey.
