Freundlich und lecher! Very friendly and accommodating service offering excellent German sausage options on a busy Sunday lunchtime. The staff were more than happy to allow me to practise my Deutsch and managed to serve us promptly in spite of an impending train departure. Tasty food and friendly staff. Einfach Klasse, vielen Dank!

First impressions, this restaurant has fabulous kerb appeal and is very easy on the eye from the exterior. Our welcome was warm and we were immediately shown to our table and furnished with menus. Fresh water was served straight away. The restaurant is clean and attractive, with a relaxed but still classy vibe. A great venue for a cosy twosome, or a meeting place for a group with their long tables and bench seating. We chose from the very appealing menu and placed our order quickly. The only let down in our entire visit, was the exceptionally long wait for our food. We didn't get an explanation as to why the food was late, but we did get an apology. Most importantly, the food was well worth the wait! Utterly delicious, we scoffed the entire plates of food and then tucked in to delicious desserts too! Exceptional food, great value, fabulous atmosphere - we'll be back!

I took my class here in early July (16 very hungry Year 9s!) and it worked a treat. We had such a stylish and peaceful spot on the terrace at the rear and there was so much to eat and it was presented on large wooden Bavarian looking tree stem style boards which really looked the part! We received great advice during the booking phase in the run up to the day and fab service once there. Can really recommend it for larger groups - Stein's will make it happen - danke schön!

Really wanted to give this place a 4. But the Kaisershwarm was the worst I have ever had. I spend maybe a 5th/6th of the year in Germany in recent years. So I have had my share of German food. The rest of the food and cocktails was great. Dont know if they cook the sausages in salt or not cause they tasted way more salty than usual. Inventive German themed cocktails. Basically. Turn down the salt, make the Kaiserschwarm better and more authentic and serve kasierkrainer and you could have 5 stars!

It was OK. Expensive for what it was and the food for the table didn't all arrive together so we had people waiting while others ate/food went cold. Pretty basic to get right so something for them to work on.

Wrapped around the Goethe Institut is a very on point German restaurant. Do you like meat? Potatoes? Beer? All the other delicious German dishes? Well come here for a reasonably long German menu with fair authenticity. Be warned, prices are a little higher than average in the area. Between us, my wife and I were unable to finish the two pint stein. Germans, we are not.

I had planned on dinner at Stein’s Berlin during my summer vacation in London, and I’m glad I did. Situated not far from the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Natural History Museum in South Kensington, the restaurant has a welcoming, Scandinavian feel to its interior. I received a cheerful welcome as I was led to my table about 6:00pm, and service was efficient and friendly throughout my meal. As someone who loves Bavarian food, I naturally chose the schnitzel. This was delicious and accompanied by yummy fried potatoes. A wonderful glass of Paulaner Helles had my mind wandering back to Munich adventures. Highly recommended. You’ll not be disappointed!

A solid place for Bavarian food in a nice environment. We sat on the terrace and that was really nice, although they allow smoking outdoors while people are dining - a bit of an outdated policy,I think. The service is efficient to the point of almost being too quick for my liking. The sausage dishes we had were really nice and a meat sharing platter looks extremely tempting for a larger group, maybe another time. The cheesecake dessert was also very good. Paulaner Helles is kept well and very fresh, but 3 of the beers on the menu weren't available when we visited. Overall a good and reliable option if you're in that area of London.

The fondue starter was nice. We had the Leberkäse and Biergulasch for mains which were both very good. I wish I could review the dessert but we were never offered one. I honestly think we could have sat there for hours before being asked. 4 staff stood around, staring into space, cleaning empty tables but for about half an hour it didn’t occur to any of them to ask us about dessert or even drinks. Despite this we then struggled to flag down someone for the bill. Pretty uncomfortable furniture too. It’s a shame because the food and menu selection are very good. This could be better.

Menu is much the same on the mains. Generous portions, very good food, but my friend found the Currywurst a bit too much sauce. I usually order the sauce on the side for that dish. Portions are huge - we shared a 2 person platter and the pork knuckle between 4 of us and we were stuffed although we did save some room for dessert. We had the apple strudel and the black forest which was the stand out. Although the menu is inspired by Germany, the decor is Scandi minimalist and very modern. We were a party of 6 including a toddler and they were great in finding us a really nice table. The high chair was a lot better than many and they were quite happy to bring the child's meal with our drinks which many places do not seem able to manage. A pre event lunch before going to the Royal Albert hall. Atmosphere was good with the bench style seats and chunky furniture. Expected a little bit of the cheesy Bavarian music but there was a chilled electro vibe which worked well. Menu not massive and consisted of Bavarian favourites but with a modern twist. Plenty sausage and Schnitzel and warm kartoffelsalat. The tastes and smells did transport me back to my teenage years living in Germany as a British military kid. The beer selection was good and typically Bavarian. I didn't on this occasion go for a large Stein as would have probably needed a nap at the concert but did sample a Weissbier and will be back for a stein or two with friends next time. Prices were typically London I would say but not overly priced. There is a service charge included but the staff were attentive and available through out our visit. Hopefully if busier of an evening the staff ratio warrants a service charge and they do still give good service. A great lunch nice flavours great food and relaxed atmosphere thank you !

We had cheese spaetzle and curry sausage with fried potatoes because of the longing for home.... Spaetzle a lukewarm pile of some kind of noodles that had no resemblance to spaetzle. Roasted onion rings with the consistency of gaskets. The taste was....ok. The curry sausage was probably only known to the cook from old legends and fairy tales. A sorry, presumably oil-fried "bratwurst" spread with a touch of ketchup and fried potatoes that stood a little longer. Also lukewarm. And overpriced for the quality on offer. It was below the level of a chip shop. Cost of the curry sausage. £17.90 Cheese noodles £17.90 We probably only paid for the location in Kensington. My tip to the restaurant...Send your chef on a training course.

We came here for coffee and cake, and weren't disappointed. The Black Forest Gateaux was light, creamy and delicious, and the Sachertorte was dense and chocolaty. I had the mint tea, which was refreshing, and very minty - much better than some I have had elsewhere. Will definitely be back to try some of the main courses.

Let's start off by saying the food and the beer are incredible, cannot fault at all. The staff were very helpful and attentive and never too far away so we could always get a hold of someone when we needed something. The atmosphere though... it's a bit odd... Now I get it's Kensington so the restaurant is always going to have that going against it but when I think of a traditional Bavarian restaurant, I think of good German music, loud jovial patrons and staff and the clinking of beer glasses, instead this place offers a more clinical almost teetering on fine dining experience with loud generic modern music on what felt like a loop; an approach which was at such a juxtaposition to the waitress in lederhosen and the amazing food. Id recommend going but don't expect to get swept up in a Bavarian beer experience as this just isn't that.

Delicious beer with a wide range of selections that you cannot get in normal bars. Different to standard pubs, this place has a more sophisticated vibe and a more classic feel. I had a couple of steins beer there and I really liked the drinks. Food are enjoyable, quality and price are decent. Good selections for different taste. This is a place I will return again.

Arrived at 5.45 for pre proms dinner. Left at 7 having received no food other than bread. Staff had no idea when food would arrive - the only assurance was that they would bring it straight to us when it left the kitchen. We won’t be going back.

Disastrous restaurant!!! Hard to review food that doesn't exist so I gave it one star. Ordered food and no updates 60 minutes later. Just left. Multiple other tables did the same. Shambles for a restaurant supposedly serving the pre-Proms crowd. I will never return.

We ate dinner on the terrace which overlooks a lovely tree filled square. The food and service were excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The meat platter was great and the dunkels beer was delicious. Excellent Apfelstrudel too. Thanks to all of the staff who looked after us.

I really enjoyed it here and will come back again soon. The beers are all classics and the food is great, plenty of vegetarian. The atmosphere is quite relaxed but the service is excellent and attentive.

I tried this place. It was a good experience but I dont think I will try this place again. It was pricey compared to what they offer. It was about 7£. But the staff was friendly overall.

Is this venue permanently closed? I went along on Wednesday 19th June 2024 at about 14:30. The shutters were down . Went back four hours later, it was the same story. If it is now closed, could the website be updated please to inform people about this? The website gives the impression it is a going concern and you can make bookings. Am annoyed at making a wasted journey.
