This was one of the best cafes we had in Clacton sadly no longer open I used to go here as often as I could

Was visiting Clacton and checked out a few reviews of the local greasy spoons, but Unfortunately Davey's cafe, which is a couple of doors along from this one was full up and was told we would have to wait around an hour to be seated, but we were hungry and needed to eat there and then, so decided to find somewhere else, WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS, because Unfortunately, about 4 shops along was this cafe! The alarm bells should have started ringing when we looked through the windows and noticed the place was empty compared to Davey's. Unfortunately there wasn't a toilet in the place to wash our hands, thats when we should have walked out, but no not us, we waited for the food, bad mistake! When it turned up, just by looking at it I could tell this wasn't going to be a pleasant experience, the Sausages were that bad that if I took one outside the shop, I would probably have gotten arrested for having an offensive weapon. Obviously I had one mouthful, and the rest is history. I know it's the old cliche, but if the restaurants are empty, and the staff look miserable, remember that old Dionne Warwick number "Walk On By" !!!!!!! As I say, this was my experience, but I do live in the heart of East London, surrounded by the best greasy spoons in the country, so maybe I'm a little spoilt, but this truly was an a 0 out of 10 experience which I even had to pay for, unfortunately I had to give it one star!

Stopped here for a lunch as was completely underwhelmed by the whole experience, no welcome or smile on entry, but managed a polite exchange by the lady behind the till. Ordered sausage & mash, and pie and mash (listed as sausage & mash with onions, and pie and mash with 2 veg on the price list, plus some extra gravy and went and sat outside to eagerly await our meals. Some time later two knives and two forks were plonked down in a pile on the table from over my shoulder. Just two knives and two forks - not on a serviette or anything. Oh well we thought - no biggie. Sometime later the most basic plate of sausage & mash and pie and mash came out. It was literally just that 2 small sausages and a wet lumpy looking school dinner type serving of mash - no peas, no onions nothing just two small sausages and wet lumpy mash. We did get the extra gravy served in a teacup! Lol! Definitely no frills and don’t go if you’re hungry! When we questioned why the s&m hadn’t come with the onions, and the pie & mash hadn’t come with the 2 veg as listed on the menu we got told we didn’t ask for it!! 😂 I mean when you go in and ask for a full English or a roast dinner do you have to list all the components or do you just go by what it says on the menu?!! Customer service - nil! The sausages were ok though…

So this is a first for us, so we ordered two meals from their menu, sausage, mash and onions and pie, gravey and two veg. All good so far, the lady cam out and places our cutlery on the table without any napkins, then our food came out, so a pie, mash and gravey without any veg and sausage mash and gravey without the onions. After a few minutes waiting for the veg and onions, nothing appeared to we asked and was told that you only get what you ordered!! We explained that we ordered from your menu, but we were told we did not ask for onions with the sausage, mash onion and gravey meal and we did not get the two veg with the pie, mash, two veg and gravey meal again as we dis not ask for it. As I say this was a new experience, also they did have napkins but you had to get them yourself. Guess a little bit of customer service would help !

Went to clacton for the day on Thursday Jul 29th. I wanted to find a small cafe rather than a pub. Stopped in here for a brekkie. Food was great, service was good. Place was clean. The chips were gorgeous. Could not complain about anything to be honest. The amount of the plate was great. When we go back up to clacton again I will definitely be going here again to start the day off.

food ok nothing special prices reasonable, however customer service poor ie, no smiles or bon vie, everything matter of fact. pay eat and leave, i have been going there 20 years they have made no effort to know my name,they are like numerous cafes in clacton.money only , a smile goes a long way,

it was a lovely experiance the staff wer polite and even offered to let me get a job there as i was searching i ended up working there and love it recomend

The best mug of tea in Clacton !! Sandwiches great and love the staff. It is always a pleasure. The staff have always been pleasant to us. We think it is good value for money.

The place was dirty food was terrible the women's manners was absolutely disgusting. Never Again stay well clear.

We are away on holiday and popped in to this cafe this morning for breakfast...never again! Staff were quite rude and not friendly or welcoming at all. Got told we needed to wear masks to our tables and up to the counter to order due to the COVID rules but yet all the other customers came in wearing no masks, but seemed like these were regulars, so was one rule for them and another for us! Food was absolutely appalling and cheap, we ate a couple of mouthfuls and left the rest. Place did not look very clean. Complete waste of money! Some of the worst food I have eaten. Avoid this place at all costs! We came out of here and went to get another breakfast at the Weatherspoons. Wouldn’t even give this one star!

This is a lovely little cafe. The plastic furniture reminds me of years gone by, but it’s all in good condition. We received a warm welcome and my husband had a bit of a laugh with the staff because he kept getting up to order and changed his mind. The food is delicious: I had bacon and eggs and my husband had the all day breakfast. We would definitely return!

This is a small cafe with a few outdoor tables. Rather basic, plastic chairs and booths. Reasonable prices and freshly cooked. Coffee was instant and awful. Sausage very cheap, but the bacon was lovely. Eggs seemed good quality too. The lady serving was friendly and I'd return when in the area.
