George's of St Clears in Carmarthenshire

Portion sizes are massive!! Such good value. All the food is cooked to perfection and not greasy. The batter on the fish bites and sausage is crispy and not brittle. You can also tell the fish is fresh. Perfect amount of salt and vinegar and they also delivered to Kao Woodland park. The people I spoke to on the phone were so polite and so were there people that delivered my food. I’m not from Carmarthen but will need to come back just for this!!

Ordered gluten free large fish and chips as well as large cod and chips. I’m sorry to say both meals were inedible and not what we expected. Our complaint was taken seriously and a refund was provided by the owner. It’s a real shame as we were on holiday and the place came highly recommended on Facebook …

Spotted this gem whilst out on the road delivering and it didn’t disappoint! Friendly and welcoming service, excellent food, very yummy and great portion size! Would highly recommended and can’t wait to pop back!

Food was too much on the plate haha.. But it was nice for what I could eat.. I hate waste but even a small breakfast is enough for every human on the planet haha

Best chippy tea I've had in ages

Absolutely disgusting meal at this place, chips were hard and over cooked they looked like they had been refried from the night before which was puzzling as we were there at 13.30. Cod bites was a case of hunt the fish and batter not cooked enough, powdered in places. Friendly staff though but I would never return. Do not go there, better chippy in town.

Amazing food, huge portions! Great value for money and lovely staff. Very quick service too, considering there was a large order. 5 stars would recommend to anyone in the area.

One of the best fish and chip shops in wales. Lovely chips with the perfect texture, fish is beautiful and fresh too. Very generous portion sizes. A must visit if you are in st clears.

Really great tasting chips! Large menu, fairly quick service, limited parking out the front, sensible prices, friendly staff. Eating in available but really more functional than atmospheric to be honest. Highly recommended for great tasting food!

Foods always perfectly cooked, great portion sizes, service is excellent, can't recommend George's highly enough.

Had breakfast here a couple of times and its outstanding,lovely,fresh,tasty,so much of it! We've also had chips many times,can't fault them.

Just had chicken madras curry rice and chips omg got to say was amazing very tasty and plenty of it , stuffed now just need a beer cheers guys top notch

George's is a great place and a staple amongst the community! Possibly one of the best fish and chip shops I've been to! Now I haven't sampled everything from the menu but I make a point of trying as much as I can! And every time everything has been bang on! I would definitely recommend trying them out! Now as for the place itself the atmosphere is normally great with good staff. However some are better than others but it would not be George's without Tom! To summarise the food and staff are great. Service is great and for a fish and chip shop it's incredible! But it doesn't stop there. Some of their other dishes are great too! I would recommend the beef Thai curry! But at Christmas time. The Yorkie Christmas special is the way to go!

Fantastic customer service, the food is absolutely mouth watering and my kids eyes light up whenever they are offered a George's and plates are more often than not cleared and a whole family with very full bellies 😁 highly recommended. Plus a special mention to Tom who is always so pleasant and talkative and his memory of who is who astounding.

Visited George's as they offer gluten free. Found after a Google search as we are staying in the area for the weekend. No need to pre-order. Lovely food and good portion sizes. My other half (not gluten free) was very happy to see they had saveloy on the menu. Woul definitely recommend if in the area.

Having George’s fish and chips is a real treat for us, the food is absolutely amazing and always tastes fresh and the portion sizes are bang on. The chips are hands down the best chippy chips I’ve had! The cleanliness of the shop is fantastic, it’s always tidy and clean. I’ve met a number of staff during the times I’ve been including the owner himself and they are all incredibly pleasant and well mannered. They all create a well working, balanced environment making the atmosphere there a great experience. Overall 10/10! It’s a shame I don’t live closer because this place is one of the best!

Friendly staff with great food cooked to order! Been several times over the last few years and yet to have a bad meal from here! Guy cooking always makes a point of thanking you when leaving which is a nice touch!

So enjoyed our breakfast at George’s only just managed the medium breakfast my husband had the large 😳. Very tasty, clean, good thick bacon eggs were spot on and it set us up for the day. We will be back weekly for a treat.

George’s is an amazing chippy in St Clear. The chips were particularly good. It is well worth coming off the A40 and into town for. The staff were great and really friendly. Apparently they’ve just started doing breakfast as well and if the fish and chips is anything to go by breakfast will be delicious. Totally worth a visit.

Ordered two fish large chips and curry sauce and battered sausage today at 3.30pm got home fish was lovely, chips half where fresh other half seemed old and rubbery and the battered sausage didn't seem fresh either, I have used George,s several times and never had bad food but today was the day, and to think I recommended this chippy to so many of my freinds and colleagues, why do you have to refry chips and pass them off as fresh, had a similar experience with a chippy in carmarthen and won't be going back there. Georges let yourself down today, no more recommendations from me.

Fabulous gluten free fish and chips, the best we have had so always visit when in the area and look forward to it as a treat.

It pains me to write this as the food is excellent, and fairly good value for money……but……we’ve been coming here for almost 2 years now and they get the order wrong AT LEAST 80% of the time, with the main problem being that tend to miss an item off, rather than give you the wrong thing. They always charge for it though - funny that. Even when I confirm the order as they hand it over, they still get it wrong time after time after time. We live about 10 minutes away so it’s not feasible to go back to pick up the missing item. In the last 12 months alone, they probably owe us about £65-75 due to their own errors. Back in lockdown times, the service was exceptional and they used to do deliveries - not once did they get it wrong. More recently though, something has changed and we have decided to go elsewhere from now on. Oh, and don’t bother asking for salt & vinegar - they’ll forget that too without fail, or just sprinkle enough to cover half a dozen chips. It has really gone downhill,which is a shame.

This is a fantastic local eatery. I’m very fond of using We’ll known for its fresh fish Has a fantastic veggie option gluten free and vegan they cater for all and the new seating area. It’s a must visit for passing trade and tourists

Honestly a lovely chippy, I’m from down near Haverfordwest and it’s well worth the drive! All food is cooked fresh with some lovely staff always service with a welcoming smile. Pricing is fantastic and they have always served products of the highest quality. Would highly recommend!

Visited twice while I was staying nearby. First time food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Second time visited about 4:30 & the chips were the leftovers from lunch time. Absolutely disgusting. Warmed up to the point where they were dry and difficult to digest.

Been here a few times now as often in the area. Great food, large potions and great value. Being able to order online and turn up and collect without waiting around is great - so easy for customer and much appreciated. Lovely veggie selection as well as lots of fish and meat products - lots of things that you don't normally see in a chippie. Tried lots of things and all been great apart from an onion bhaji which was soggy rather than crispy. Next time in St Clears we will undoubtedly plan fish supper from here!

I had the most incredible gluten free cod bites and chips. The chips were really good, crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. I'll definitely be revisiting soon

Used these guys before lockdown, three years later they are just so good, chips crispy, fish perfect, quantity is generous so great value and the server did the owner proud, well done.

Lovely! A very broad menu and amazing food. All was made fresh. We fed 4 people for £20. Beware the portion sizes are huge! We got 2 chips between 4 of us and there was lots left over!
