How this place has gotten so many good reviews is beyond me. Soggy, greasy, cold chips served with a tasteless fish full of bones! Wasted my lovely tartare sauce on this garbage.

Used to be fantastic, I would always come here, however tonight, everything was awful, chips were like reheats, fish was over battered and soft. Same lovely ladies serving, but didn’t recognise those who were frying, it wasn’t the usual guy, and the food confirmed this, will not be going back. A real shame.

Simply the best fish and chip shop in Royston.

Been before, always expect to wait over 15 minutes if ordering fish which is longer than it needs to be, however, returned as previous order was nice. This time, both large and regular cod were overcooked, the fish that was there was so thin. It was mainly batter. Chips were ok. Sausage was a real cheap one, didn’t taste nice at all. Assuming they’ve changed food supplier and even main fryer. Unfortunately I won’t return it was that bad

Perfection in Fish & Chips. I had Rock and Chips. Rock has becomed increasingly hard to find, yet it is sustainably fished in UK waters. It is from small shark species, but is delicious. The fish was tender, succelent and tasty with a light and crispy batter. The chips were top quality and the staff are lovely. Highly recommended and good value

Battered sausage was burnt Curry sauce was only warmed through And not piping hot Chips were nice though

Wow. Amazing fish and chips. Very reasonably priced and served with a great smile. Only had to wait 5 min for freshly cooked Cod and chips. Fish was cooked beautifully with a nice crisp batter. Chips were nice and soft with a crispy edge. Everything tasted delicious. Also was able to park directly outside. I go whenever I get the chance and am never disappointed. Please give them a try if you've never eaten there. You will not regret it.

Quite simply, brilliant food. Our regular go-to chippy. We have eaten our way through the extensive menu & we have our favourites but the food is politely & quickly served & we have never had cause to grumble. I am aware these are anonymous reviews but I’d happily put my name to mine. A great chippy !

Overall not a very nice dinner, even the dogs weren't that impressed, had to buy another dinner. Overcooked sausage in soggy batter, Undercooked chips, Asked for salt and vinegar.... Discovered no salt and vinegar. I asked for standard size chips, gave me large. Cheap prices though, I guess you get what you pay for.

Was recommended by Sam Godden, tried it coz our other shop dropped their quality. Was pleasantly impressed, good portion sizes and good taste. Good prices and full tummies all round. Friendly and helpfully staff nursed us through our first order experience. Will definitely go again. Thanks for being there for us during these trying times. Stay well and stay safe everyone.

Due to my usual chippy being closed tonight I tried George’s. What a difference - friendly service, larger portions and better pricing. This place is my new favourite in Royston.

First time experience at this chip shop- no complaints! Shop was clean, food was fresh, prices were reasonable, portions were generous, great range and the bearded fella serving couldn't be nicer. Family was happy with food so I'll definitely revisit.

We had heard a lot of good things about this fish and chip shop, but we're very disappointed. We asked for a large fish and got a normal sized fish with a couple of tail ends put in, the fish was very dry and the chips had obviously been sitting around for a while. We were very disappointed.

I recently left a negative review about Fish n Chicken in Royston - I'd really had enough of their bad service and poor portion sizes, so I looked around and found George's... SO MUCH BETTER! I would recommend George's to everyone. The food was cooked to order, portion sizes were excellent (huge) and the service was spot on. Best chippie in Royston.

George’s is the best in the area top quality food and fresh food. Always busy inside thats a sign of a good chippy. Customer service is 5stars always polite and efficient service. I highly reccomend this shop.

Lovely fresh fish and chips really enjoyed our food, and it's great that it's open at school pick up time so if you don't fancy cooking you can pick up the children get fish and chips and that's dinner sorted rather than go home and wait for other fish and chip shops to open at 4.30/5 o'clock meaning going back out again..

Spotted this excellent chippy on my way to visiting a family friend so I though’t of giving their fish a try. Wasn’t disappointed at all. George’s has best food, quality service and extremely friendly staff so I would highly recommend their service to anyone passing by.
