We were tempted by the coffee and cake offer and from the illustration of a generous piece of cake we were looking forward to it. The coffee was fine, albeit in a take away cup but the cake was very disappointing, a small piece, again in a takeaway box, not worth the price. Beware!

Stayed for 2 nights in a lovely clean and comfortable room (Cregennan) with a great view over the estuary. Fresh milk provided for the room without needing to ask. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Decent restaurant and bar featuring Robinsons own ales amongst others.

The hotel’s location is stunning, offering beautiful views of the Mawddach Estuary, and the historic charm of the building adds to its appeal. I was particularly impressed by the camaraderie among the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout my stay. Their teamwork made the experience enjoyable, and it felt like they went out of their way to ensure all guests were well taken care of. The hotel’s warm atmosphere and the restaurant's seasonal pub food. Overall, it’s an excellent destination for a peaceful, scenic retreat.

We popped in here for lunch Monday 14th Oct. We've walked past it many times, its location has to be one of the best in the UK and we'd just walked the Mawddach Trail so were starving. The menu is one of those where choosing is difficult - but not for good reasons. Husband went for fishfinger sandwich and I went for KING PRAWN club sandwich. Husband's came on thick stodgy ciabatta (yes we knew it came on that kind of bread) with yukky melted tartare smeared all over it, all very greasy. And my king prawn with house marie rose sauce sandwich? Served on thick, dry white bread and the prawns were in fact teeny tiny shrimps, minute and grey looking. My fries were also in a clump stuck together. But really, don't class something as king prawn when it barely registers as a shrimp. Wet, tasteless, unpleasant, a rip-off. Generally I don't believe in leaving bad reviews and I know we should have complained on the spot, but it was so bad, it's irked me ever since and the George needs to learn and never serve this muck again, not for £13.95 certainly! The more mature waiter who collected our plates could see by the amount we'd left that all was not well. He should have questioned us but was accepting. p.s readers, for an excellent prawn sandwich in the area, go to the Dyffed Cafe on the way to Welshpool, perfect.

Last minute booking for lunch for three. Fish and chips, pork belly and a fish cake in Hollandaise sauce for my wife who only eats small portions. All excellent apart from the fondant potato which did not appear to be cooked through and was quite hard. Nevertheless, the pork was excellent as was the crackling and the accompanying vegetables. The two pieces of fish were lovely, white and flakey with crunchy batter. The hollandaise sauce was creamy smooth and a great accompaniment to the fish cake. Red fruit accompanied the brûlée. The staff were excellent and attentive. One recommendation for future lunchtime diners - book for 12:30 or before otherwise you will be alone at the end of your meal.

We were a group of 7 who visited for lunch while on the way to a holiday stay in the area. The photos don't do the spot justice: amazing views both outside and from a lot of seats indoors. Nice, cosy interior too, which I think has recently been refreshed. We'd booked a table with a dog and a pram - these were mentioned when the table was booked over the phone, but, on arrival, we were told we'd booked a table in the non-dog friendly restaurant area...not sure what had happened there. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us in another spot, but service from everyone working that particular lunchtime just felt OK: not unfriendly, but not friendly either. However, we had great food, and some good beers on tap, so we'd return if in the area.

One star for being in good location, they unable to honour our booking, My wife had booked a two night stay for my 70th birthday in disabled room, we had just left home this morning when they called to say our room was unavailable (someone obviously let it without checking system) this was glossed over with alternative room being offered which was not suitable because of mobility. To say we angry is an understatement spoilt and cancelled my 70 birthday gift! We have stayed at George many times this has left me and wife very upset and will not be booking with at Georgeor Robinsons again.

Great place to have some food and drinks to while away an afternoon. Try and get a window seat if you can as the view is fantastic. The beer was good and reasonably priced and the food excellent. We had the BBQ chicken burger, it was tasty and well cooked. The staff kept a bust bar moving well so there was no wait and the whole bar/restaurant/toilet area was kept clean. I wouldn't hesitate to pop back in for food and drink if I was in the area.

We dropped in for some lunch today whilst walking in the area. The scenery is beautiful! The staff at the George were really welcoming. The George is also dog friendly! We ordered a cheeseburger, a feta & bacon pizza and a cheesy garlic bread. For drinks we ordered a tap water and a Mojito cocktail. My wife really enjoyed the Mohito. The cheeseburger was absolutely delicious, probably the best I have ever eaten! It was loaded with cheese, gherkins , salad, bacon and a really tasty sauce. The feta & bacon pizza was also perfect and a really good sized portion. Couldn’t fault the food or service! Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

We have been a number of times before, for drinks and meals with no problem and good food. But I booked a table for the 10 September for our Ruby wedding anniversary. To say the Sunday lunch we had was totally Rubbish is not far wrong. It was like it was dished up at 2pm and served out at 6.30pm.Even when we brought it to staff attention the reply was, it shouldn't have left the kitchen. In Fairness to the staff they did apologise and remove it from the bill.

We were staying nearby and booked in to the George The Third for an evening meal. From arrival the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The draught beer is excellent and the service was top notch. We ordered the Lamb Shank, Fish and Chips and the BBQ Chicken Burger. All the meals were cooked to perfection, we had a side of seasonal vegetables as well which were lovely and everything came out at the same time piping hot. We never felt rushed but someone was always around to check if we wanted anymore drinks. For dessert we ordered the Orange Chocolate Torte, Lemon Cheesecake and a Brownie. Again all the food was to an excellent standard. The staff and Chef were very accomadating as we have a bit of a fussy son and they substituted certain things and even swapped an ice cream around on the dessert to his favourite flavour. The price was reasonable for what we had and the quality of the food. When we enquired about a room at the hotel the member of staff was very helpful and checked there and then for us and confirmed the price but didn't pressure us to book. To top the excellent customer service, food and drink off was the views of the area. Definately use the toll bridge as its £1 to use and cuts out a lot of time. We would highly recomend the restaurant to anyone, unfortunately we ran out of time or I think we would of also been leaving a great review about the hotel. If you are in the area definately try the food here, I can also recomended the Pitch Stout on draught.

Visited here a few times for food and I would highly reccomend! Staff are friendly, food is excellent and the views/location are beautiful! Parts of the pub/restaurant are also dog friendly which is a bonus.

Was on holiday nearby with family and passed this place several times. Thought the 6 of us would give it a go for an early lunch. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and the view was stunning, even on a misty Welsh...

Where to start… possibly the most beautiful pub location we’ve ever been to! We had a fantastic lunch, every plate of food was delicious… the service was faultless and the view from the window in the estuary room… oh my!

I have reviewed the George III in May 2019, not long after Robinsons taking it over, and although the food was good the service was poor. But NOT THIS TIME! We recently had a family meal for 10. We all opted, except for one, for...

A family meal (8 people). Food was tasty although the menu was limited. Felt COVID safe, sanitised and tables cleaned. Very disappointed with the way the food was served. Some food served in baskets, other food was served in cardboard boxes and wooden cutlery which...

Visited this pub while on a solo break away with my dog a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic atmosphere, great service, lovely food and I have to give the highest praise to the lady (who I think was a manager or supervisor) (gutted I didn’t catch her name) but she was so friendly and welcoming, she made a fuss of my dog even giving her some doggie treats which went down (a treat) 😆would definitely recommend this place and will be sure to visit again next time I’m passing!!

Stopped for breakfast in the cafe, it was lovely. The small breakfast is big enough for most! Cafe clean, staff friendly and importantly the toilets were very clean. Highly recommended 👍

Had a coupla beers here, they dragged the large bean bags out for us. There was just the 2, I felt very privileged 🫅 Everyone was walking past greedily eyeing them up, before they took to their hard chair 🤭 I was so disappointed when it began to rain & we had to give them up. This place is one of my fave’s. I’d only popped back to get some of their lovely food but we couldn’t sit on the benches with the rain. We returned a few weeks later but they’d closed until spring. I can wait.
