George Hotel Restaurant and Bar in Huntingdonshire

Good service for our table of 8. All food came out at same time which was good. 4 gammon, 1 King Prawn & Chorizo Risotto, 1 Lasgne, 2 Pea, Mint & Courgette Risotto. Desserts were good although I felt my apple and blackberry crumble could have been hotter. Quite varied menu with realistic pricing. It won’t break the bank.

Thanks to Greene King staff who got in touch after our stay. They took the time to listen to our issues and worked with us to suggest a resolution that was agreeable to both sides. Thanks, we'll see how it works going forward.

A Great pub and superb staff and Lorraine went the extra mile to accommodate us at short notice, food was superb and atmosphere was great, warm and friendly pub.

The hotel could do with a little TLC. Not great value for money but a good location for the event that we had attended. Didn’t eat at the hotel

We visited The George yesterday & I had to leave a review. The service was quite exceptional! Lorraine was our waitress, she went above & beyond! Nothing was too much trouble. She was attentive, helpful & super friendly! What an asset she is to your company! Thank you, we shall come again!

This hotel does some great food we were there this evening and the food was amazing the chefs flynn and Robbie done a great job

On two consecutive nights my food was poor. I took a preventative antihistamine pill. I was too polite to decline the chicken pate. Hot weather, how come the chicken pate underneath a thin layer of butter was liquid? The quantity thankfully was very small. I regret eating it out of politeness. I hope it was only something defrosted in a microwave, it tasted okay, but the liquid texture? Yesterday risotto was pretty bad too. The restaurant was more of less empty, perhaps two tables eating, not great. Avoid?

Thanks for a great night for our birthday. The food was great, thanks to the chef. Our waitress was so lovely nothing was too much trouble, thank you Lorraine. The service was faultless and we all had a really lovely evening .

I met up with a friend for Sunday lunch. We both had roast beef for £15 each. The meal was quite quick coming out but there was not a lot on the plate, it was more like a children’s portion. I had 2 slices of very fatty dried up beef with a couple of roast potatoes a carrot and a parsnip o and of course a Yorkshire pudding which was the only nice thing on our plate. We did complain but the lady didn’t seem surprised and said “O well” and walked off with our plates.No one seemed bothered, no apologies nothing! We meal was even booked for a couple of weeks so it wasn’t as though we were walk in’s. Awful meal and definitely not value for money so don’t bother. It ruined part of our weekend plans.

The food is lovely and the staff very friendly. My only comment is they could do with a few more staff. The ones in were polite and friendly but a little stretched. Otherwise, no complaints.

Really gone down hill. This is our local restaurant and we've been numerous times in the past. Unfortunately we won't be returning, at least for a while. The staff are poor and rude, when they used to be brilliant. The service is ridiculously slow and the worst we have experienced in the 28 years we have been visiting the George. Don't know if its under new management.....if you can call it management.......sort your service and staff.....please!!!

We were a party of 6 ladies that had pre booked a Christmas lunch. From getting there and the waitress not knowing what we had ordered and had to go find out several times. They didn't know what drinks were available, the quality of the wine was very poor! I ordered a prawn cocktail starter that come out looking awful! 2 Pieces of limp lettuce with some undressed prawns and a blob of mayonnaise, no seafood sauce, no bread all served on a side plate. The main was seabass, it was edible but I have to say the best thing on that plate was the Bussell sprouts.... Another waitress that brought the bill didn't take off our deposit we had all paid, and the face on her when we pointed this out was a treat! NOT!

My husband and myself were guests in a party of 99 people. Our party was booked for 7pm for 7.30 sit down. Meals had been pre-booked. There were two waiting staff for 99 guests. No blame on the waiting staff, but management was non-existent. We received our starter course at about 8.15pm. Guests took it upon themselves to collect the plates to return them to the end of the room to save the waiting staff time. Mains arrived at 9.30pm, some of which were returned as inedible. When it came to desserts, guests were helping to collect these from the kitchen and serve them. May I also add that the young waiter’s appearance was dishevelled - his shirt could have done with a good iron. The whole experience was unacceptable.

A very enjoyable experience. Lovely meal, well cooked. My lasagne had a very tasty cheese topping & the bakewell tart and custard was beautifully presented. Very much appreciated the personal touch of the staff who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted.

Lunchtime celebration for relative's 70th birthday. Central location in Huntingdon town - close to station and bus routes. Historical building - dating back hundreds of years - but refurbished with excellent decor. Food excellent - all tastes catered for

Staying here for 3 nights initially for business seeing if I can shorten it room very dated. Very small and freezing cold with no heating.

This is a review of the restaurant. The food was acceptable, but the ambience of the dining room is frankly dingey. The staff are willing but very, very inexperienced. A young waiter handed a main course plate to one of us -- he couldn't be bothered to come round to put it down himself. The plate was piping hot and our friend dropped in, having burnt her fingers. No interest in coming to the table to see if there were condiments we needed etc.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Lovely staff (especially breakfast waitress), food excellent especially breakfast. The only downside is that the hotel needs a bit of tender loving care, but the building is very old so a never ending job! We would stay here again.

I spent three nights at the George Hotel meeting my friends. All the staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. I was on my own and felt very safe and wanted. All the food my friends and I had was hot, well presented and delicious. The room I had was very comfortable and ideal for me as it was in the courtyard which meant I didn't have to climb many steps.

Fantastic hotel it is large spacious for a old building steeped in history,staff are all helpful and friendly and can't be more helpful,food is excellent and not at all expensive generous breakfast with plenty of choice

Really disappointed so decided not to stay felt unkept dirty and in need of serious revamp. The room really was not to the standard that I expected even though I had my dog his own bed that I took looked more appealing to sleep in

Came for a meal with my wife, son and daughter-in-law it was lovely. The staff were very friendly Paul and Fraser looked after us so well, they catered to our every need. The sirloin steak was beautiful and cooked to perfection.

Stopped in for a Sunday dinner, after a long day at work. My roast was cooked to perfection and my complements were passed on to cheff Sergio. It was most enjoyable. All the staff I encountered were fabulous, special mention to Fraser, Paul and Scottie who were polite and professional and a credit to the hotel.

A great option for value and quality in the centre of town. Beautiful old building with stunning courtyard (they were setting up for their annual Shakespeare season when we arrived). I had the chicken burger which was excellent - two generous breasts (steady on) beautifully crispy batter and not at all greasy. Highlight was service - Paul, Scott and Becca were a hoot. Managed a small kitchen delay and unexpected table change with elegantly and with great humour. Would recommend.

We didn't have food so unable to comment but it looked delicious. However, the bar service was excellent. Paul, Scott and Fraser made our trip. They were so knowledgeable about history of not just the hotel but the town itself. Thank you very much. We were only staying for a night as we're on our way elsewhere. We'll definitely come back and we will stay at the George again. This town is steeped in history, so please come and visit.

We were greeted by a very welcoming and enthusiastic gentleman called Paul. Who was also our server, the restaurant was very busy and nothing was to much trouble for him, even though he was rushed off his feet. I met some friends for dinner the food was lovely. There is lots of choice on the menu. As lots of places have a limited menu but we had lots of choice here. We will definitely be returning due to the amazing service thank you Paul.

I visited with my friend for dinner, we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming man, believe his name was Paul. Lots of yummy food to chose from on their menu & prices reasonable. Our waiter Scottie was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for him, even when they looked completely run off their feet!! I haven’t been here for a few years after a previous experience but thanks to these two I will definitely be returning!!

It was very well put in place for social distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea was the best iv had (and I have had a lot) it was very clean and tables had plenty of distance between them. Would highly recommend. Also won a free main meal, just by giving £2 to there charity, very worthy cause. Am planning my next visit with a neighbour.

I booked a table for a fathers day treat for my partner and was not disappointed, from the beginning we were made to feel welcome, even our little dachshund was made a fuss of and was brought out a bowl of water as soon as we were seated. The food and drinks was amazing, we both opted for a flavoured gin with fevertree tonic that was so refreshing ,we didn't order starters as I had already eyed up the delicious sounding desserts. My partner had gammon for his main meal and I had a roast turkey dinner, it was piping hot and very tasty, and then came dessert time,I had the strawberry and prosecco choux bun and my partner had the apple and blackberry crumble, it was delicious. The staff were very attentive making sure everything was OK for us both. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you George Hotel.

We came for Fathers Day lunch on Sunday and was looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Our server was a lovely man called Paul who went above and beyond to make our time at The George so relaxing. He was brilliant with attending to our children and their needs and wants and gave us some of the best laughs we have had all year. He is an asset to The George. The food was beautiful and came out nice and hot. All in all we had a lovely time and cannot wait to return.

Wow great friendly place not from the area stopped here while on business in the area. Often in pub chains the food can be rather underwhelming; but not this place!I had the mushrooms, followed by the Salmon and then the Eton mess sundae all excellent and tasty. I had a pint of the IPA, very well kept and thirst quenching, the large glass of Shiraz was good quality and robust.Covid19 service can often be a bit hit and miss but this place coped pretty well.

I arrived at the George Hotel today and was greeted by toni who was very welcoming and very cheerful. The service was amazing and all the staff looked happy, the fact they're wheelchair friendly will make me want to come back with family.

We stopped as a family of four for lunch here - on recommendation of the Google Maps app. Didn’t disappoint. Covid measures were comprehensive and the great Greene King app made it dead simple to order. Food took a little longer than I wanted but that’s probably because I was so hungry! And the lovely meal I had (vegan mushroom and ale pie) completely wiped away any frustration! Nice pint of Ice Breaker IPA too.

My wife and I have visited the restaurant on many occasions and it has alwaysbeen consistently good. We generally eat in the bar area which is spacious and the staff are always so attentive and friendly. The menu looks really varied and we are guilty of not trying more as the signature fish and chips always take our fancy! Enjoy the relaxed and friendly experience.

On route home we detoured off to this restaurant for a bite to eat. Excellent food, nice polite friendly staff, well planned for Covid19 having everything covered. Enjoyable stop off for lunch.

Went here for an evening meal. My husband salad was just lettuce with some strange looking croutons on top. My meal was lovely to be honest, I had the lamb. Sons risotto was tasteless. On the plus side, the staff were fantastic!!! Really well organised.

Just stayed at the George for two nights with my wife as a short break, during these unprecedented times.We were made to feel very welcome and were fully reassured that the staff were providing high levels of cleanliness in everything they provided more than meeting any COVID compliance requirements.Selection from menus was very good and plentiful and service was very friendly and attentive from ALL staff members, including but certainly not limited to Nunzia, Maddie and Toni.Interior of hotel is a little tired in places but, overall, we enjoyed an excellent stay.

My partner and I popped in for lunch, and were very impressed. Very yummy food, and fantastic, friendly and attentive service from Nunu. We were also very impressed by the COVID protective measures put in place. We'll be coming back.
