Went for lunch Saturday, it was packed !!! The amazing Darren sexton was looking after me ,while waiting for my meal ,Darren was running round the tables making sure the customers was all happy ,but he went the extra mile bringing sauces and condiments to the tables if needed ,he then brought me my food piping hot ,before checking my meal was up to par 👌honestly with Darren working flat out very very hard the lunchtime rush was a breeze ,every customer including myself he made sure they was satisfied my meal was spot on ,I didn’t wait long even my pudding came quickly thanks to Darren and his amazing team behind him ,fantastic restaurant and a amazing service

Was served by Darren sexton (amazing customer service ) he made my experience smooth fun ,welcoming a credit to the restaurant, food was spot on ,no long wait times ,Darren made sure my table was clean spotless before my food was served , defo eating there again

Had to wait almost half an hour for breakfast and eggs were hard. Have had much quicker service previously so am disappointed.

One of the best weatherspoons breakfasts I have had Hot plate a bonus, clearly freshly cooked Great eggs and anchor butter

The food here is very good and great value, especially the fish and chips. I've visited many times and not been disappointed yet.

We used to be regulars here and it was always fine. Regular Wetherspoons food , good value and pleasant staff. The last few visits things have changed, the tables are dirty and sticky, chairs are worn and the fabric has holes. Also the meals strangely everything was hot apart from the chips which were cold. Then there is the flies, fruit flies all around our food. Something has changed and not for the better. Someone needs to address what has happened to what was a perfectly good pub, it’s not good at all.

As regulars at this Wetherspoons pub, we enjoyed our meal as usual. However, every time we go now, we find sticky yucky tables that have not been cleaned between customers. Quite often even have to remove used plates etc ourselves. Have taken to bringing wet-wipes in my bag. Come on Wetherspoons, this is not on.

We’ve been coming here for years. We like it for the family walled court yard at the back. They also have a side section by the pub for smokers. The one thing that I struggle to understand is they have seating area adjacent to a public highway/ foot path yet you are not allowed to sit there with a dog. Yet the dog would not be sat on Wetherspoons land which I believe is illegal as they have no right to dictate who is actually on the path!!! I would totally understand it if you sat right next to the pub. We find the food and service is far superior during the week than at weekends. The last couple of weekends we have issues with our meals and unfortunately they have made out it was our fault. No just look at the menu, and you will see cheese and bacon comes with the gourmet chicken burger!!! When we pointed this out the cheese and bacon was brought out. Yet we don’t come across these issues normally during the week. They also appear short staff at weekends. But I believe it still offers great value for money.

Sigh! As always with Wetherspoons, price compromises quality. The ale was fine and not as overly-chilled as you often find in a Spoons. Service? Perfunctory would be the best way of describing the service. It was fine, but the staff appeared weary, unenthusiastic, almost dead on their feet; and it wasn't even 5pm. Food? My father was happy with his fish and chips (but he's 80+ and likes Spoons for the beer prices). My spicy chicken was not inspiring at all. The marinade was all in the surface, not actually IN the flesh of the chicken spicing was one-dimensional; good spicing is layered, with spices, being added at different stages of the cooking. This wasn't. The side salad was similarly disappointing. The rocket lettuce was limp - it should have been served yesterday or the day before. There were several families dining there, and the young kids were too often not quiet. We paid less than £25 for four pints and two meals. And it saved me cooking. But I can cook better. So, I was underwhelmed.

Where to start. This place is a typical spoons, except the manager is probably worse than the customers( who think it's okay to start a brawl in the middle of service). He likes to impose himself and act lik God almighty but can't handle criticism whatsoever. Furthermore he removes people from this place because they were getting "picked on" .. he offers no explanation. If you want to eat som where cheap get a Tesco meal deal and eat it at home, because this place is utterly woeful James is half okay on the front of things however when someone questions his actions he can't handle it and removes you ... I've seen this with staff as well as customers. Between the fighting from hailshams finest and the management and door staff this place if truly horrible.

We come to The George regularly, the food is always pretty good and the value is excellent. However, for the last few months one part of the pub is full of fruit flies, which are landing on food and in drinks. Having raised this with the staff, they advised that they are aware of the issue, but have been unable to find a solution. I do think, given the amount of time that this has been an issue, that a chain as big as Wetherspoons would have resolved this by now.

During what appeared to be a managers meeting taking place in the middle of the restaurant area, the managers were shouting across the room at the staff in the middle of service, then one of the bar staff came out and swore at one of them and then the manager decided to respond by showing her middle finger to the member of staff. This was in front of 4 children at 2 different tables. Unprofessional is not the word. If that’s the example of professional standards that the managers set, no wonder the place is a no go area for many people past 7pm.

Stood at the bar for more than 20 mins. While acknowledged by one member of staff, they served anyone before us. New members of staff appeared and it was lucky dip of who got served. Shan’t bother going there again.

Not easy to find a table on a very wet day, but staff were most helful, clearing etc. We enjoyed our fish and chips and the rest. No complaints whatsoever. Staff were running round in circles. Credit to them all and especially the manager - he'd really appreciate an extra pair of hands no doubt. Would have no hesitation of eating there again when in the area.

I’ll start with the negative feedback. This place needs a thorough clean. Where we were sitting was thick dust on the wooden ‘shelf’ , hasn’t been cleaned for months! The chairs are all stained. Tables still got the person before food stuck to it and very sticky. Doesn’t take much to keep things clean! Food was good and always is here. Hope the kitchen is cleaner than the rest of it!

Met friends with child here to eat, she apologised in advance as said only child friendly place for food on a weekday. Predictable, food good quality, some hot some cold on same plate. Pretty much what we expected. Drink prices great, decor good and clean, busy.

Lovely sunny day for some lunch with loved ones including my very well behaved golden retriever pup. At least that’s what we thought we were in for until one of the staff members told us that no dogs are allowed OUTSIDE the pub, despite no signage, being sat away from any other customers and having already ordering 3 main meals, so we would have to leave. Would think during a cost of living crisis they would be grateful for the custom but clearly wetherspoons aren’t feeling the pinch yet, they will soon with unsustainable policies like this one. Get with the times, our dog is part of our family and if they’re not welcome then we’ll happily take our custom to a more inclusive business.

Our daughter lives in Hailsham and visited here for lunch on a very wet Saturday! It was very busy inside but managed to find a table. My daughter really enjoyed her all day brunch and we enjoyed bowls of chips and onion rings. The price was very reasonable and the staff were friendly and hard working. On a sunny day will be nice to come back and sit out the back where we spotted some tables outside.

I would like to thank the staff at this spoons because they where all friendly, had smiles on their faces. One of the kitchen staff I believe is part of management called Darren was very nice, cheerful when bringing out our meals. All bar staff was amazing, happy. The chain should be proud of the team at Hailsham and I would recommend folks to try the friendly pub. Me and my partner had a wonderful experience, Thanks Guys for a wonderful experience. Before lockdown we regularly visited the George for meals and were very impressed with the quality and value. We were therefore looking forward to a meal there this week before our visit to the Pavilion cinema. I'm sorry to say we were sadly disappointed. I ordered the Beef Madras which was ok but the poppadoms were soft and partly uncooked and the nan was like a piece of leather whereas on our previous visits they had been superb. My wife had the steak which previously came with peas, onion rings and a mushroom. This time she was served an overdone steak with just chips nothing else. So sad to see our local pub go downhill like this and it has put us off visiting again.

We love to visit this wetherspoon regularly , good value food & drink, friendly staffs especially hard working Darren who had been a good and friendly staff & serves well , always have time to answer any queries .

Just moved to the area. Decided to try Weatherspoons for Fish and chips in the garden . Was not disappointed. Staff friendly, food quickly served and delicious. Could be a regular event.

Dogs are not even allowed *OUTSIDE* the pub!!! Summer’s day, 10 mile walk along the Cuckoo Trail with friend and my 6 year old little Jack Russell. Stopped by for a drink. Found a table outside and ordered a pint before continuing with our walk....

Food was surprisingly nice and good value for money too. Atmosphere really wasn’t a great one for family or children as some of the other ‘guests’ were quite loud and swearing quite a bit. Otherwise alright.

Darren is fantastic, his customer service is great, seems very aware of what is needed from the customer point of view, very polite and courteous, cheerful, and sorts out any problems in a calm and effective manner, he is a true asset to the place....

Fantastic service! Our meals arrived very promptly after ordering via the app and the waiter made sure that everything was just so and provided crayons for our children to keep them entertained. The food was fresh and excellent value.

Visited here with friends on Friday night 14th August. It was very busy, but not surprisingly so. They have sanitisers as you walk in/out and seem very keen to keep their staff and customers safe. Really like the booths they have now surrounding the tables...

Whilst staying at the Hellingly Travelodge, we visited the George on 3 occasions between Aug 1st & 3rd. We were impressed with the way they handled social distancing & felt very safe. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the start of the Eat Out...

Went and had their special Friday fish and chips which included a drink very good value. Very fast service from when ordered. The meal arrived hot and a reasonable portions. The one downside, was that they did not clear the tables very quickly. Our table was not cleaned when we arrived and had to ask for it to be cleaned. Plates were not removed when we had finished, still had not been cleared by the time we left, which was 15 minutes after we had finished our meal.

Avoid the barbecue panini! Shocking quality! Has no barbecue sauce on so sent it back and it was then flooded with sauce haha very funny avoid not a friendly spoons

Went for breakfast hadnt been for a while as it hadnt been good. Thought it may be better but it was grim☹️food cold and came out one at a time the table was grotty had to ask to cleanbtable whch was done and all food on floor not caught in cloth. Staff were scruffy as well no uniforms as previous. Wont go back Corn Exchange much nicer

Very popular pub just on the fringe of the town high street. Very popular.Menus vary between different Wetherspoons. Some offer soups or pizzas, some vary in price in the three items for such and such a price.Drinks are mostly of a very good price

Some wetherspoons feel like drinkers pubs, but this place is lovely. Great service, nice exterior and interior. Food is food and drinks re reasonable too. Loads of places to park nearby.

As is usual in this badly run place staff who are off duty take precedence over customers. It's most insulting having to wait and be ignored just because the so-called 'manageress' can't be bothered.

Often go here with family & friends. It's a great place to dine or just for a coffee. It can get noisy at busy times. It's cheap, but the food is very good & waiting times are kept to a minimum Staff are polite & helpful. Clean & tidy place.

Popped in for breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Food arrived quick. Husbands breakfast Luke warm and my bacon sandwich didn’t look like it was cooked properly. Very anaemic and again Luke warm. One coffee machine broken so a little wait to get hot drinks. If this had been my first visit I would not be returning. Hopefully a one off. Please cook the bacon for longer. I agree with a previous review it looks odd.

Good food and beer/cider: comfortable seating. Highly recommended before or after going to the cinema opposite!

All the ladies toilets (4 or 5) where blocked and dirty. The seats and tables are also worn and dirty. Such a shame this pub has gone downhill.

The Bacon didn’t taste like bacon it tasted rank and it looked weird. The rest was cold and just about edible but the coffee was lovely and the staff were so lovely and helpful and the only reason I gave 3 stars x

Terrible food, my fish and chips was so overcooked most of the fish was combined with the batter, Similar problems with the rest of our party, slow service. The best thing is the beer.

Iv reviewed the George a while le ago when it was lovely, but seems to have changed, a lot of the regular staff seem to have left. The food and service seem sloppy now, like no one cares. Such a shame used to love this place.

Seems to be the place to go in HaIlsham! It was busy but service was quick. And delivery of food was quick. Food was pleasant, and my food allergy taken seriously. Good selection of drinks and food at good prices.

My friend introduced this restaurant to me, so I decided to give it a try. My daughter gave me a late treat for Mother’s Day, so we had a special lunch here in Wetherspoon Hailsham. We both looked at the menu and decided to order our foods. It was fine, we enjoyed it but I have to say the chicken was a bit dry and tough to eat.

After shopping went here for lunch. Very busy, we were lucky to get a table. Chose 2 meals, noodles, said to be fine and I had ham, egg & chips. Good portion, nicely presented and hot!

Back here again and it's getting better. Did the Tuesday steak night, paid a little more for an upgrade to a 12oz sirloin and added a honey sauce and still under £10.00 including a nice pint of beer.

We popped in to grab a quick meal before watching a film at the cinema across the road, we both had chicken wraps with chips and a unlimited refill coffee, always know what to expect from a wetherspoons cheap food and excellent service.

In Hailsham for a long weekend visiting relatives. Decided since the weather was nice to sit outside and have a couple of drinks. With beer at just over £2 a pint it attracts the wrong clientele. That said, everybody in the restaurant and non smoking garden were behaving themselves, but out the front it was a different story, two separate parties were effing & blinding so loudly that two tables, mine and a separate one, necked our drinks and beat a hasty retreat.

The pub was quite busy nice meal and drinks we had cheese burger and chips and ham eggs and glass of wine

Go here once a month for steak meal with my wife and always enjoy it. I use the app and do the table service its brilliant don't evenhave to go to the bar for a drink.

I really wanted to go there because we had been to a Wetherspoons in Cheshire and we really enjoyed as it was all cooked fresh and we had to wait for it but rather than not freshly cooked.

I came to the George hotel with my family for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and I cannot fault it. The food came out in no time and I was amazed how good it all was, especially for the price. It had a lovely atmosphere and I will definitely be returning.

We sat outside in the warm sunshine to look after the bikes. The service was quick and the food fantastic value. We eat on a regular basis at Spoons all over the country and it is rare for us to be disappointed.

WHAT A DUMP!!! Where do i start? Rowdy and clearly severely intoxicated customers still being served. FU*K was frequently heard in the very close presence of the children with them. Out of control and so called MANAGER totally IGNORING IT. Not once told to calm down. Broken glass in toilets. Anything goes here. MY ADVICE IS KEEP AWAY. LOCAL LICENSESING AUTHORITY AWARE.

Ordered a bowl of ice cream, nothing too fancy, it came and the bowl was warm and the ice cream had half melted, after eating a few mouthfuls of luke warm sloppy ice cream i gave up and left. Not happy

The manager needs to learn the difference between LIP service and CUSTOMER service. A good night ruined by some completely unavoidable intimidating behaviour and lack of concern. Official complaint will follow.

I chose The George Hotel for a get-together with friends as it was local and I knew from past experience that the food and service is very good. As one of the party experienced some difficulty with walking I pre-booked a table to make sure that we could get in. This was easy to arrange and worked brilliantly. The food and drink was easy to order at the bar (you can also do it using their app but I like working with people!) As before, the quality and quantity of food was excellent, and piping hot. We were able to take our time over the meal - no one hurried us - and my group certainly appreciated the availability of small portion puddings. Food prices were very affordable. The atmosphere was a nice background to our conversations. Oh, and the toilets merited a ten out of ten.

A pleasant building with a large bar ,carpets were well worn but clean.Furniture is functional but decor and general appearance is light and pleasing,Up to six real ales available at prices one would expect in a Wetherspoons establishment.

Went here with my family, 7 of us altogether. Firstly 2 meals came out, 15 mins later another 2 and a side of fries that I asked for with my meal, one meal was sent back as wrong. Finally another 15 minutes later, the first 2 had finished their meal, the rest came out including my meal, but had eaten the fries as got bored waiting. The food was thrown on the plates, all luke warm and plates were stone cold, every place I’ve eaten at always keep their plates warm. I know it’s ‘cheap’ here but you expect some standards at least. When we complained about the meals the waitress said or was probable her fault, she was noticed bringing out other meals to other tables in between ours. Don’t like the fact you have to pay for your food before you’ve eaten it. Majority of us had burgers and should of gone to Mac D least their food is cooked to order, not reheated and shoved on a cold plate. If the chef can’t manage 7 meals, which we ordered as they were, no extras, no withouts, then a new chef is needed or he needs to go on a course of some sort. We will not be returning.

This is a regular haunt for us to meet with family for breakfast, but recently breakfast has been cold, in parts and egg overcooked which ever way requested. Tomatoes barely cooked and flavourless (inedible) and on mentioning to one of servers, met with " what the breakfast" and a shrug of shoulders. Once was buzzing on a Sunday morning with people for breakfast, now only few diehards. Not to your normal standard Mr Weatherspoon!!!

disgusted;;; we went the the george hotel today . for a family lunch. the food can out luke warm . when i complained. the waitress ask me if i would like it warm up . will not be going back there again. DISGUSTED .

Visited today with my wife, ordered on the app as we usually do. Meal arrived, no coffee cups, which we ordered with the meal. Went to the bar to check up on the order and was greeted with a VERY unfriendly response from bar staff and subsequently from the duty manager.

Have been eating and drinking at The George for many years. The Wetherspoons menu has a great range of options at a very reasonable price.

Visited with friends. Very busy. No organisation re ordering food and drink - all done at bar by person serving you - no orderly queue. Food average but cheap.

Visited for the first time with my wife for a ‘Date Night’. Very dirty and grimy. Tables dirty, floor sticky and stained.

As a group of friends, we regularly visit here, and are regularly treated poorly, with disdain, for no apparent reason. The staff seem bent on being unhappy with us, however polite we are. We are so tired of it, we'll probably stop coming now.

not very happy, came in for a breakfast with some friends, i had the small breakfast, it came and everything on it was stone cold, the bacon was floppy and cold, the beans tasted like they had just been scooped out the can, the scrambled egg was cold and rubbery. Wont be coming back for breakfast again...the woman behind the bar was rude when i told her the coffee machine wasnt working and she then complained she was by herself and to stop whining.

When we eat out and have a bad experience, it's my belief that maybe everyone is having a bad day, so we always go back a second time. We went in here two weeks ago and they have a very small range of gluten free foods. It seemed that everything that we wanted wasn't available. Seriously, this is 2019. People have food allergies. Its not because people choose to be fussy. My partner got violently ill when we ate at the branch in Eastbourne. If you are a regular meat eater and will eat any old thing in front of you then this place is good, otherwise it does NOT cater for the majority.

Popped into the George for a drink with friends a huge sign promised Real Sussex Ales 100% of the time guaranteed.Asked the barmaid which Sussex Ales she had, none she answered, I pointed to the sign, we have Doombar was her reply. So I had a Cornish beer instead!

Seems to be the place to go on a Saturday morning! It was buzzing, busier than I expected, but service was quick. Looks more like a hotel than a wetherspoons. Good selection of drinks and food at good value prices, quality ok.

I had a burger here and it was great. Portions were great too and very quick service and a good price.

My parents and I order a lunch time meal together on 21st October. I don't live in the UK so it's rare that we get a chance to eat together. My father's food appeared very quickly, some 10 minutes after ordering. 20 minutes after his food had arrived my mother and I were still waiting. I asked the bar staff who assured memoir food was being cooked (I had ordered a chicken wrap and my mother had ordered soup!). I asked why the food wasn't being prepared at the same time and was told we ordered separately; I assured her we hadn't. On sitting back at our table a member of kitchen staff came out, I asked her, she didn't know. Then the manager appeared who rudely told me that food ordered separately wouldn't come out together, when I told her it had all been ordered and paid for together she told me I was being rude. I told her if she spoke to customers the way she spoke to me then they would reply in a like manner. 10 minutes later the manager arrived with our food. I have been to this venue maybe three times this year and each time has not been a good experience. I won't be going again.

Found it a bit disconcerting that after heavily advertising Fish Night on Friday they had none left by 7pm - must be a victim of ther own success - unusual for a WETHERSPOONS - aside from not having the food they advertised my plate of pasta was fine - maybe next time I will ring ahead and reseve a fish :-0

Service was quick and efficient. Food tasty and good value with a drink included on some choices. Busy in the early evening when we visited but this didn't stop us from being serve almost immediately.

The first time I came to this place to eat one of the staff was rude and unhelpful a girl but we stayed and ate anyway as one boy at the bar was nice the food was ok standard jacket patato, we passed this area again and thought we would try to eat lunch again and see if the atmosphere would be different but this time the girl at the bar was even more rude unfriendly and unhelpful, we askes if there was seating outside and she said go and look rather then showing us and a nice customer sitting on the 5abke said we could share his table which was very kind of him the my mum went to ask a question about the menue and the girl again was rude lime she couldn't be bothered to serve us, so we just left i won't be giving it another go as 2 times it's been disgraceful customer care and we are friendly people so there is no excuse for it the girl at the bar today needs training in customer care my dog has better manners then that.

Quick , polite service. Very reasonably priced. Good food . We had a few starters , king prawns with chips & nachos. Very nice.

Were staying in the town a customer reccomended coming over to you it was lovely good value for money ham egg chips i had a brunch onion rings deserts there were 4 of us under 40 pounds including drinks good value def go again would reccomend it

There is plenty of parking close , you can park in the Asda car park and walk through the alleyway in the corner , Famtastic menu and the staff were friendly and very fast to deliver all ordered stuff.

This place is always busy but it does not stop them from offering fast and friendly service. Ordered a large mixed grill for myself which was great. The only downside was I had an additional bit of gammon instead of steak but my son’s was correct. I did not realise until nearing the end of eating so did not say anything. Would not stop me from returning again. Thank you to the staff for a lovely meal.

Met for breakfast with friends. Excellent place to have the traditional English breakfast. Service was good and prompt. The corner we sat was excellent to hold conversations and catch up with friends. Popular with families in the mornings so it could get noisy but it was fine with visitors like us.

We called into this pub early evening as we had been out for the day and didn't want to cook when we got home. We both ordered Scampi & chips, the portions were very good and the quality was better than what you buy in the supermarket. Service was very good and very quick for the time of day. The place is always clean and the staff are always helpful and pleasant.

Visited yesterday, me and my family was served by a lovely lady called Beth, she was very polite and friendly, will definitely be coming back!!
