George And Danver in Oxford

Helado básico, no muy sabroso, el chocolate sabe más dulce que cualquier otra cosa. La limpieza es cuestionable con mesas que quedan con migas y pañuelos sucios. La vajilla y las cucharas parecen que ya se han usado pero no se han limpiado.

Vino a conocer a un amigo con familia. Chocolate caliente no tan caliente, pero la señora que sirve hizo todo lo posible para que la leche se caliente. Caro para el tamaño de la taza, £ 15 para 4 tazas pequeñas. Los inodoros dejaron mucho que desear y el medio ambiente podría hacer con algunos TLC.

Muy sabroso helado y porciones generosas, servicio rápido. La mesa estaba un poco sucia y pegajosa, pero por lo demás todo bien. Recomendaría: )

El lugar se ve bien desde el exterior y el interior también. Las opciones de bagel se veían bien para una delicia en el tren a casa. Tristemente la realidad no era buena. Los bagels eran duros y masticables como si fueran viejos. La versión que tuvimos fue mozzarella, tomates secados al sol, ensalada y pesto de albahaca. Los bagels tenían fugas de pesto aceitoso cuando los estábamos comiendo haciendo todo un desastre. Por lo tanto, una experiencia muy decepcionante tristemente.

Llevó a mi novia a su tienda favorita de gofres en Oxford de nuevo hoy. Nunca nos decepcionan los absolutamente increíbles gofres y helados, un gran servicio al cliente que viene con el George y Danver. Un must have si usted está visitando Oxford. Great go-to for breakfast or lunch. Pastries run out if you don't get there early enough. Love their lunch bagels, just wish they also had a breakfast (cinnamon&raisin) option. They are known for their ice cream, but really do a quick bite well. There is also a loyalty card for caffeine & bagels eaten/bought, so every 10 or so, you get a freebie.

This is a cafe/ice cream shop. We wanted drinks. It was quite busy when we visited but there was seating in the basement, where it was quieter but a bit lacking in atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced but service seems a bit haphazard

This seems to be primarily an ice cream parlour. I went in for a coffee, which was quite enjoyable and not overpriced. They sell cookies but I did not see any pastries on offer which would have been a good accompaniment for coffee. The staff were fairly nice.

Working in the area and walked past George and Danver, have wanted to try here anyway. Nice friendly, quick service. Had cookies with two scoops of ice cream, really nice but very pricey. Probably wouldn’t rush back but glad I tried here. Nice vibe for a Saturday night

We’ve often looked at this cafe whilst queuing for the bus to go home Today we finally ventured in and had ice cream which was lovely we both had Turkish delight and chocolate and both flavours were so good Staff are lovely

Great cafe & hangout with views of local Oxford life, breakfast (bagels or pastries) with coffee/tea, or bagel sandwich lunch. The Oxford blue ice cream is the best. They also have a "loyalty card" for frequent visitors.

Waffle was below average and I was very distraught 🫠. Service was horrific and I was waiting almost 15 minutes for a waffle that was disappointing to say the least. I ordered the waffle to take away and wasn’t provided with cutlery or napkins. I shall not be returning and wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.

Normally this place is great, with very good food, good service, pleasant atmosphere. But today it was very busy and they got totally disorganized. I was in a party of 3, we ordered our bagel sandwiches all together in one order, paid for all three at once. It took 15 minutes to get the first one, 10 more minutes to get the second, and 10 more minutes to get the 3rd. In between they made lots of other things for other people. We kept asking about our order and they kept saying it would be the next thing they made. They make the things in plain sight while you wait; so we could tell they were either lying or terribly confused. They don’t use a number system or take customers’ names. They call out what the order is (“turkey on sesame bagel”) and then someone who ordered that jumps up and grabs it, but 3 other people might have ordered the same thing before them. Whoever is quickest gets it and the others get frustrated. If it’s busy I’d say go somewhere else. If it isn’t, a very nice place.

We just happened to stumble across this cafe on our visit to Oxford. We popped in to have ice creams...even though it was freezing outside. There was a massive choice of flavours and we were offered a taster if we needed help choosing. Can honestly say the ice cream was unbelievable, I had Turkish delight and pistachio....both were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely too, really relaxed and obviously popular with locals.

There should be wifi. People use cafes to work and they need to use the internet. It is inexcusable in a cafe in this day and age

Me encontré una cola gigante para poder entrar en esta heladería. Al menos, he de reconocer que la espera valió la pena porque el milkshake que prepararon estaba delicioso. Entiendo que es un lugar tan concurrido porque se trata de un lugar muy recomendable y conocido en el centro de Oxford.

Popped in here for ice creams on a very hot afternoon. Although the café was busy, we were served quickly. The scoop size was generous; we all enjoyed our chosen flaours: Mango sorbet, Dime Bar and Chocolate.

They have a wide variety of ice cream flavours and different toppings. Great cone as well. I had only a double-scoop ice cream cone, so I cannot comment on their pastries.

This was fantastic icecream! We tried three flavors in their smallest cup. There are fun flavors and the line moves quickly

Great place to meet friends just across the street from Christ Church campus. Nice seating area on sidewalk where we were able to swatch the world and double decker buses go by. Coffee was excellent. Only a short walk from the bus stop for the “park and ride Oxford”.

Nice team and a good range of products. But it did look a bit run down ,not shabby just run down. But the service was good and the bagel and waffles we ate were lovely. Hot chocolate wasn’t very chocolatey and the coffee didn’t have much flavour either.

We went on a Saturday so expectedly it was very busy with a long queue. Service was a little slow, not the wait in the queue but the time it took to prepare two hot drinks and two ice creams in a tub. They put the milk in the tea, rather than letting you pour your own, so for me it was too milky. The ice was delicious as always and plenty to choose from.

Nice backdrop to feast on a cone located just across the street corner from Christ Church College's tower and meadow area. We pretty much found it on accident and had to oblige to it's sweet cream callings... Ice cream looked good, Although missing the fresh fruit and biscuits on top usually displaying the favors in an all enticing aesthetic fashion. But they had some funky flavors I wished I could try, like Hipster's Beard, but not sure how they'd decorate that with 'trimmings'. Sadly free tastings prior to ordering was not offered, and did not want to feel like a hobo asking for the handouts -or hold up the que..I went with my go-to; anything coffee flavored, which was good..I did try the rest of my families; Mamma tax is a real thing and a privileged in my home to be upheld at all desired times. Therefore my share of brownie mixed, an oreo, and a fruit one of some sort, all tasted good. Bravo.

I had a scoop of their Blue Oxford which was supposed to be made with fresh blueberries. It had a nice texture but surprisingly little blueberry flavor. My husband, the family expert on all things ice cream, thought his Oreo was just average. The prices seemed above average.

Came here after lunch and a walk around oxford and omg the ice cream here is absolutely divine.I had “rum runnings” and a “mango Malibu” which were both nicely loaded full of flavour, and beautiful in texture.I love ice cream and this place is easily one of the top 5 ice cream spots I’ve been to globally. This is not glamorous but the bagels have great fillings and the icecream is fantastic. The staff are enthusiastic and welcoming. It's opposite Christchurch so a good place to go if you are visiting the college.

I went with my girlfriend and her family, my girlfriend suffers from a sulphite allergy, which we informed the staff before she ordered. The girl serving us was very accommodating and nice and was the only redeeming quality of this place. While she was looking through the allergen menu to make sure the sorbet was okay, a blonde lady with tattoos on her wrist, who we assumed to be the supervisor from the way she was bossing about the others, came over and snatched it out of her hand to tell us that we didn’t need it but then wouldn’t tell us if it was okay for my girlfriend to have, just saying that they used some sort of lemon powder as though this was commonplace and everyone knows what’s in lemon powder and told my girlfriend that she would probably be fine (concentrated lemon usually has sulphites so we were being extra careful and didn’t buy it). The way she talked to staff obviously made them uncomfortable and brought the lovely girl that was serving us nearly to tears who could do nothing but apologise for her. I have lived in oxford for years and regularly visit the other G&D;’s in the area which are all lovely places which thrive well with great staff, but as long as that lady works here the place is doomed to fail as she is so horribly rude to both staff and every single customer she served

Oxford is currently enjoying southern England's long, summer heat wave and as we came out of dinner two friends and I decided to have ice cream as a dessert in the G&D; (George and Danver) cafe in St. Aldates. The ice cream and coffee were adequate but as we sat at a table eating the ices and watching the world we were very glad that we hadn't ordered G&D;'s banana split or other banana-including deserts. The young woman who had one minute before been handing coins and bank notes was next unpeeling and handling the peeled banana with her bare hands. EEUUGGHH!

Popped in for a coffee and something sweet.. Was tempted by the make your own waffle so ended up ordering one with Diam ice cream, Syrup and gummy bears.. What arrived was something to behold and tasted even better than it looked :) this place is a sweet lovers dream which will be firmly on my list of places to come back to when I’m next in Oxford!

Anyone visiting the city and fancying something cooling or sweet should try this place. There is a lot of choice and the staff are friendly. Centrally located and good value for money.

The Raspberry And Mango sorbet are absolutely awesome! The coffee is top notch, I would recommend here as not only do you get the above you get some awesome staff at any time between 08.00 and midnight.

It was rather loud and untidy, the hot chocolate I ordered was your average hot chocolate. I'm not sure how is the food there, I may come back to have some ice cream but definitely not hot drinks/food since first impression was not the best.

We came here for icecream after a meal out in Oxford city centre. The desserts and coffee were both quite pricey however the sorbet was gorgeous and portions were large.

Popped in here for lunch and ordered two pizza bagels. It took a while to cook and there didn't seem to be any system for collecting orders just a free for all.

I had a waffle cone which was as you'd expect and I was surprise with the amount I got. My wife's coconut flavour ice cream was bland and they forgot my daughter's sundae. It did finally come but we had all finished.

(También sentado en la calle es muy ruidosa debido a autobuses. ) hay mejores lugares a un salto por el camino -, como descubrimos más tarde en nuestra estancia!

Me esperaba una buena calidad, pero conocí a decepción. Sabor de helado de chocolate el helado comprado más barato en Tesco. Por este precio prefiero comprar Dazs. Sabor es mejor, y así es el precio. Otra cosa, tienes que pagar por un cono! Nunca, en el mundo cumplió con ese tipo de cosas. Llevé el cono aunque (no puedo imaginar comer helado en algo diferente a un cono) y en realidad fue un poco soso. No tenía ningún carácter, ni dulce, justo nada. Si alguna vez comimos bien Helado sería muy decepcionado.

Luckily I only had a drink but my partner made the mistake of ordering ice cream. £10 for a drink and a Sundae. Staff were rude - woman serving me turned her back on me mid ordering. The tables and chairs were grubby, bowl had dried food on and the toilets were overflowing and smelly.

On one of the hottest days in the UK, this was a very welcome visit! Despite the line (or queue), orders were taken quickly. I enjoyed a rosemary and sea salt scoop, which was really wonderful. Will likely stop in again on my Oxford visit to sample another flavor!

Might seem expensive but £2.60 for an ice cream at this place is definitely worth every penny! Ordered the Mango Sorbet ice cream and was the best ice cream every had - lovely sweet tangy flavour and get so much in one scoop! Wish I'd ordered two! Friendly staff as well makes it all the more five star! 100% rec emend.

If you're wondering around taking in the Oxford sights on a hot day I'd highly recommend picking up an ice cream from George and Danver.We had a bit of a wait queuing up and ordered 2 scoops each. The portions are really generous, they have a decent range of flavours and the ice cream itself tastes great.

We visited George and Danver as the last stop on our day trip to Oxford. I spotted it from the Hop on Hop Off sightseeing bus as it is right by the St Aldates stop.We chose ice cream cones and sat at a corner table at the back of the restaurant, lots of space for me to read one of the newspapers available and for the children to get messy with their cones. Good choice of ice cream flavours, but not too many to choose from. We went for an assortment of guava, salted caramel, mint chocolate chip and raspberry ripple - all very good. There is a water dispenser and plastic beakers provided so we didn't need to order drinks and I filled up our water bottle for the journey home as well.Service is friendly. Ice creams are not cheap but I thought it was value for money as we spent a while in there and it was a relaxing way to spend the last hour of the day, in a cool setting right in the heart of Oxford.

I am a student here, but I always make time for G&Ds, as do many tourists and students alike. Their menu has a great range, with hot and cold toppings, special creations (cookie monster has a special place in my heart) and drinks, too. Bagels and sorbets are also equally delicious, but I would be lying if I said I didn't just go for the daim bar flavour. There are three G&Ds in Oxford, and they're all always busy, so this is a testament to how great they are!

The brownie was more sugary than chocolatey. Maybe have the ice cream if it's not January. A bit shabby and not very clean. Bagels seemed popular and looked pretty good.

I have sometimes popped in here to grap a drink while waiting for my bus across the street. There is nearly always a group of people wanting to try each flavour of ice cream before they decide, while several "helpful" members of staff stand and watch the queue snaking out the door. Also, their regular take-away cup size must be the smallest in Oxford for the same price. Never tried the ice cream but it looks nice. The staff were friendly and the coffee good.

Holy Cow was so great. Any flavour of yummy ice cream into a hot chocolate making it deliciously thick and tasty. I added blackcurrant which really works!

Went for breakfast on Sunday morning and had poached egg and chive bagel. Bagel was OK but the egg was truly awful - overcooked to the extent of being like rubber. The place is a bit shabby, particularly the toilets. Service left something to be desired. Won't be going back.

Diverse flavors you can choose, and vanilla and mange are of great taste!!!! The ice cream was soooo big and the price is reasonable. Also,the customer service is quick and nice.

We heard a lot about this icecream before going to Oxford. Quite frank, we were all disappointed. We visited the St Aldate's branch; there were 5-6 people behind the counter but only 2 served and the rest were having a chat. It was hard to find a clean table and the quality of icecream was extremely disappointing. The vanilla flavour was OK but the rest were rubish. There was no baby changing facility in the shop and the ladies working there were not interested in customers! Simply don't go there if you like proper icecream.

We were so excited to go to G&D's and we were told by a friend to get their bagel and waffles. We couldn't believe the price for two bagels - £8.75 and it doesn't come with salad, literally two toppings in a bagel on a plate. Their system isn't great as they just call out the bagel toppings and so someone took our second bagel without realising and we ended up having to wait 45 minutes for the second one to come and when it did come it wasn't what we ordered.Also there is nowhere to charge your phone in case you are looking to go to a cafe to do this.I understand what it is like working in a busy cafe/restaurant it can get really stressful and staff at G&D's were clearly very busy, but what I observed was that they were so consumed by what they had to do that there was no customer service. We did not stay for waffles.

Situated in St Aldates we saw this as we got off the tour bus, it was a hot day and there were seats available outside. They make their own ice cream here- having returned from the med recently - they were not totally innovative or unusual in taste. They were supposedly made from Jersey cream but I would not have known. The wait in the queue was long and laborious and they did seem to be a little flustered as someone else mentioned. There was a lack or organisation about the whole service. We got served by very pleasant member of staff she made all the right things but failed to open the coke top, gave us very cool latte which had to go back to be reheated, the bagel we ordered was nice - pastrami - but she said she would bring it to us outside and we waited and waited - when my husband went back in to complain his coffee was not hot enough he heard them calling for someone to collect the bagel. Nice enough but ice cream was £3.40 and the bill for two soft drinks (Small bottles 250ml), a coffee, a bagel and a small smoothie was £20 so not cheap . Would go again but they need a good manager in there!

For the price you pay you would expect bigger portions, seems good quality food and drinks taste nice but nothing mind blowing, staff often seem flustered and stressed even when it's not busy

Lody bardzo dobre, szczególnie polecam wziąć czekoladową polewę. Samo miejsce nie zachwyca, musze takze przyznać, że lava cake wbrew moim oczekiwanią był poprostu słaby, czekoda wcale sie rozpuszczała ciasto bylo tylko pogrzane :/ Polecam lody naprawde dobre ! Duży wybór smaków i dodatków :)
