Gemini in Breckland

We visited on the 18th October and again on the 19th October and oh my goodness it was like 2 different restaurants. The first night was really pleasant. It was very busy so the table we wanted needed cleaning but that wasn't a problem. The nice lady behind the bar came to clean it for us. Another gentleman came over to clean the table, he looked like he might have been the chef. I wanted some more wine so he fetched it for us. He also came to check on us while eating the food. Honestly the staff couldn't do enough for us. There was a karaoke on which was a lot of fun and the atmosphere was great. The food was ok for chain food but on the service alone we decided to return the next night. Completely different experience the next night. We ordered food at 8.20pm. The menu clearly stated they serve food until 9pm. We decided to share a bowl of chicken wings as a starter. A few minutes after placing the order the waitress came over and said we don't usually serve starters after 8.30 but on this occasion we will do it for you (as though they were doing us a favour) as i previously mentioned, the menu clearly states they serve food until 9pm. It was a sharing starter however we just had a bowl of wings plonked in front of us with no side plates. We used napkins as plates. Then our main meals arrived and my father had ordered the gammon with eggs. The eggs were awful and over cooked. We caught the attention of another member of staff to ask for some more eggs only to be told everything in the kitchen had been turned off (exactly 9pm) how long exactly does it take to put a pan on the hob and fry an egg? 5 mins tops? The female waitress came over to check everything was ok, i said no not really. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Never at any point was there an offer to compensate for the poor food and the staff were rude right from ordering the food. I've never been anywhere for food and felt like i was an inconvenience to the staff just for ordering off the menu. If this had been the service we had received on the first night i can assure you we would not have returned the second night. We will not be returning again which is a shame because the staff on the first night were brilliant

Visited The Gemini last Saturday evening with out granddaughter the atmosphere was really good people watching football and really enjoying themselves. Service was very good and fast even though it was very busy not a free table to be seen. Food was very delicious . Grest value for money and well presented. Our granddaughter especially loved her kids chocolate mania dessert. Later in the evening the live entertainment was fantastic a very good Elvis tribute the dance floor was rammed . The whole team who were on shift were FAB very helpful and engaging with all customers 😀 Cannot wait for our next visit Great work

Myself and a few of the Dereham Ladies Circle popped down to the Gemini for our business meeting with food and games. Liam and the rest of the lovely team had reserved us a table for us all to be seated together and we're very happy and polite with their greetings. Food was absolutely delicious and I can't fault the service! Would highly recommend to anyone that would like to pop down for a drinks, games of pool/darts or even some food. Lovely night had by all.

Food was a massive disappointment last time round burger over cooked and inedibl, not like them it's normally really good

Popped in for the £5 burger deal. I had the southern fried chicken burger with bacon cheese and curry sauce on the side for my chios and a side of cheesy garlic bread! The food was lovely, hot, and well presented! I was welcomed as I arrived by Tom who was super helpful and friendly! I really enjoyed my visit and will be back again soon

Love this place for a good value meal.

I came in with 4 of us on Tuesday night and the pub was around half full. The assistant manager Liam help us picked out some good meals he said the chicken mix was a good deal which it definitely was! The drinks were reasonably priced also. There was a quiz on to which nice to see. Overall just a nice evening

The six of us had a really good value meal. Staff were very helpful. Whenever I order a weak latte we're normally disappointed but the lady at Gemini managed it spot on. Two weak lattes promptly delivered to our table. The only little issue, which didn't really matter in the end is they say the pub is dog friendly but this is only in certain places. Our dogs were not allowed in the restaurant, only the bar area. Other than that we were really pleased with our visit.

Had a lovely meal here, was so tasty, just a shame I couldn't finish it. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

He held my mums wake here last month and quite frankly you couldn't of asked to be looked after any better. The staff were all so attentive and couldn't do enough to make sure me and my sisters were okay. The buffet provided was delicious then sausage rolls were quite honestly some of the best I have ever had. They decorated the end of the restaurant with pictures we provided of her. I couldn't of been happier on this difficult day. Thank you to Bev and all the team for making a very difficult day very easy.

A great family pub that does fantastic well priced food and has a wonderful garden and decking area. Shows all of the sport you could wish for on TV and has a great variety of entertainment. The staff are funny, attentive and accommodating. Bev and the team certainly know how to look after the customers. Would certainly recommend this pub as the best in Dereham. Well done all.

Food was great, although took a while for all our orders to come out together, meaning some people had finished before others had their main. Nice refurbishment though, stylish and modern feel.

On holiday @Yaxham Waters. Booked Sunday lunch @26 th May. Such excellent food ,value & staff & service ( even though they were busy) that we booked again for the 28th,30 th & breakfast @ 1st June before our journey home. Same great service ect on every visit. Friends were able to take their little dog who sat well behaved under our table. Bowl of water provided near the door for dogs. New staff member Harry was exceptionally helpful.We will certainly be back on our next visit next year hopefully. Thank you 🤗

Well done to all of the staff at the Gemini for rasing money for the McMillan nurses today. It was a good event from you all taking part.

Absolutely terrible. We booked our table for 7pm and ordered our food at our table on the app.Waited 20 minutes to receive our drinks and that's after asking where they were.It wasn't even busy. The guy who brought our drinks over was pleasant and said sorry our order had been hidden so they didn't see it.He then offered us a free dessert to apologise.The pub had a staff private function for McMillan out the back and clearly the staff were more concerned about their own out there rather than focusing on the customers indoors. It then was 40 minutes before I had to go to the bar to ask where our starters were.The bar girl checked and chef was "literally cooking" it just then.When it arrived the chef brought it out and the corn on cobs were freezing cold. We then sat there for ages whilst the waitress cleaning tables continued to ignore us sitting there with a finished plate.No willingness to clear it away and get us our mains. The bar girl then collected it. We sat there again waited ages. It had gone 8pm and the chef went back out of the kitchen to his mates outside at the private party.So there was nobody in the kitchen cooking our meal. We got up and asked for full reimbursement at the till to which we received straight away no questions asked. So it's obvious to us that the staff were aware we weren't going to get served. Atrocious, and disgusting customer service.Never had this issue before here. What the hell is going on.

Good menu choice, great for all the family.

Had a meal today and had 2 meals for 12.99 normally those meals can be basic but I can't rate it high enough it was lovely fresh hot and plenty on the plate and drinks fair price aswell. Haven't been b4 but gonna be making a few trips now as it beat greenstone by miles. Staff where actually polite and not miserable and that makes a change. Keep up what u doing it goes a long way.

DO YOU THINK 40 minutes is long time well if you don’t you’re in for a treat because this is how long I’ve currently been waiting for my dessert in this time I could of made a 700 piece Lego set and gone abroad and still had 10 minutes to spare it’s behind a joke this place is seriously understaffed

Wait times could do with a bit of improvement, I understand times can be busy but a clean table would be grand, a lovely bank holiday evening but spent most of it waiting, not spoken too by any waiting staff, and had just as much emotion in her voice as a wet paper towel.

Just had a really great Sunday lunch. The turkey and beef were moist and very tasty, plenty of food on the plate and cracking good value. The service as always was top drawer, nothing was too much trouble and the place was busy with a great atmosphere. If you're looking for a family friendly place to have a value for money meal look no further. Thank you to everyone at the Gemini.

Very nice pub, food is good and staff are very friendly!

Basically, fast food in a chair. But it has as anywhere to eat, good and not so good points. Fast service, as most, if not all, the food is pinged. There are still remnants of the food that stays tasty, is a 50/50 outcome on your plate, on the days we ate there. The best part is always a Madri beer to wash down the claggy and crunchy bits left in the mouth :))

Absolutely amazing. Friendly staff. Even more so they where able to accommodate for my younger son who is very busy with food. Will definitely be coming back

Recently had a huge refit, now has extensive garden seating and a covered decking area so suitable for all occasions. Does get extremely busy especially at weekends but food was good and staff cheerful so all good

A recent makeover has transformed this pub. A great place for families to eat and an excellent bar with a friendly atmosphere.

I would recommend a visit here. We had two small issues with missing items of food but these were rectified immediately. The staff were professional and polite and we will certainly go to the Gemini again.

Don’t waste your time. Manageress, if that’s what she is as she didn’t have the authority to refund, is awful no people skills whatsoever. We booked in for a family lunch and really we should have just walked straight out but we gave this place a chance. The table we were allocated was so close to the other that if the person sitting in the middle needed to get out the person at the end had to stand up and move their chair out. Sunday lunch, what Sunday lunch when the chef can’t gauge how much beef or chicken to have cooked there was nothing available and this was at 1pm. Order taken and then 1hr 15 minutes later we asked about our meals as others who had come in after us had theirs and were then leaving. Food came out and kids chicken nuggets were burnt but raw the kids burger was so cold that the cheese hadn’t melted and as for the rest of it it was totally inedible. Went up to complain and we were told straight away that we had better not make a scene as they have a zero tolerance policy omg all we did was say that the food was bad and nothing else this manageress sorry glorified barmaid was unbelievable. The attitude was disgusting. Waiting staff seemed truly embarrassed by her. I guess she’ll be the one replying to this so looking forward to her excuses, but please be aware that we have been in touch with Greene King who will be looking into this establishment and the awful management

Good solid pub fare and range of drinks. Plenty of parking space and depending on the time of day or day great deals on the food. Good standard burger recommended

I visited this place on Friday evening. Been there for few drinks. I was surprised to see that they were holding a karaoke event, and local people were having the best time there. I didn't try the food, but the place was lovely, staff friendly and professional. The atmosphere was really good! I would definitely recommend.

I went to the Gemini for a business trip on a Friday evening. I was entertaining clients from Manchester. The manager (I think his name was Lee/Liam) but regardless, he was rude/obnoxious because my clients were not locals. Accusations of drug abuse which I’ve seen on this page before. I’ve been a regular but supposedly “non-locals” are not welcome. We’ll be going elsewhere in future.

Our first visit since the building works. We went for Sunday lunch which was a bit disappointing. The bar staff were great, but the length of time we had to wait for our food was far too long, even allowing for the pub to be busy. My husband had roast beef, which he said was a bit tough. The meals were not exactly piping hot. Also the dessert menu was very limited.

Great food and, the food well presented, hot and staff are friendly, polite and helpful I recommended.

Really disappointed, despite booking online in advance (4 adults, 1 toddler and a dog) and specifying that I was bringing a child and would need a highchair facilities were in no way appropriate. I received an email at 10pm the night before my booking, less than 24hrs before my booking. "We have your booking, we have allocated you a booth in the dog friendly area, with one of our high chairs as requested, the table is a raised booth, we do hope this will be satisfactory for your party." providing a table where the highchair cannot reach the height of the table is completely unacceptable for somewhere pretending to be a family spot. When we arrived (after waiting 10 minutes at the bar to be seen) I was told there was no other table available and the waiter quite frankly did not care that the table was not appropriate. There would have been no way my daughter would have been able to eat with us when the highchair won't reach the table. It was only because someone else left a low table that we were able to stay for food, however the table was far too small for the 4 adults and 1 child and we really struggled when our food arrived. Food was fine but nothing exceptional at all the steak was very chewy. We placed a dessert order and after waiting nearly half an hour we checked on the desserts, which had clearly been forgotten and the order had to be double checked. We arrived for a 5:30 booking and didn't leave until half 8 due to poor service and desserts being forgotten. I needed to access the baby change (which was locked with a radar key) staff did not have a key and tried to open the door with a knife (there were no facilities in the other toilets) it is only because a gentleman with a radar key was near that the door was opened. Quite frankly this was a terrible experience and not somewhere that I will be going again, there was so much that could have been improved here.

Visited as a party of eight, taking advantage of the £5 build a burger promotion (wednesday) and two mains for £12. All had drinks including a bottle of wine and the bill only came to £77. Ordering food at bar was straightforward and efficient staff. Service of food was a bit slow although we did all eat together. Overall impressed with the Greene King menu. A good evening.

Great food and good quality for the money

Unfortunately, my recent visit to The Gemini was very disappointing. *UPDATE* Tried The Gemini again last night and I am happy to report that it was a much more enjoyable experience. Everything was as I'd hoped, will definitely use it more now, after all it is my local.

Nice of the bar staff to hand other customers air fresheners to spray customers for their health condition.

No longer dog friendly! Since the refurbishment, dogs are only allowed in the hard floor areas, which is the sports bar and not the main pub area. Very disappointing, as I've been visiting this pub with my dog for 3 years with no issues, but can no longer sit where I'd like to with my dog as they have a no dogs on the carpets policy, which is daft compared to most truly dog friendly pubs. Real shame.

Food is below par, almost looks sorry for itself. Such a shame as it could do really well location wise, the pub has been past from hand to hand and current staff in place seem to own it for the sake of having the title and whether they are the owners or not I’m not sure but they seem, like they’re running the ritz instead of behind the bar, don’t rate the service or attitude towards their patrons at all.

Imagine booking a table and then getting the police called on you cos they forgot to reserve the table… needless to say we won’t go again. Recommend the cock in Dereham service 1000%

Had the most amazing NEW YEARS EVE . Everything was great from being greeted at the door with a glass of Prosecco to seeing in the new year . Bev and Danny have turned the Gemini into an amazing place to go , highly recommend it Thank you again Team Gemini

Got all the orders wrong and both main courses were cold. The old Gemini was far better for food. Wont be going back anytime soon.

We booked our ladies circle Christmas party at the gemini through Laura, who was super helpful. The table was reserved and decorated for Christmas ready for our arrival. All the food came out together and was very delicious. Overall the atmosphere was wonderful with a live band playing and the staff were very helpful. Would recommend anyone to go for a meal, I will definitely be returning.

Since Bev and Danny took over its a fantastic place to go. Can't fault . We are so proud of them both 💜

Omg what can you not say!!! 3 course Xmas Dinner at 14.99 it was delicious from start to finish. Great new look so very welcoming and staff superb. I would come back tomorrow and do it all again. So satisfied so carry on the good work. Xx

Newly refurbished and very comfortable Green King pub, we met up with son and grandson for breakfast and have to say it was Very Good and good value for money well cooked and tasty, the regular breakfast was enough our grandson had the larger version which he just manged.

The staff are great, a good selection of beers & the food well cooked & value for money. I would pretty much give 5 stars a cross the board if the decor wasn't a little "tired". Oh & there's a nice area of outdoor seating & a nice play area for the kids. 5 stars vfm. 👍*UPDATE* the place has undergone a refit and looks great even the old toilets have been updated. The place was super cold. Ordered via the app, our food came before our drinks. When the food came out it looked disappointing, the chips were lukewarm, the mushy peas would’ve looked more appealing in a ramekin rather than spread out on the plate like in the photo. I’m aware you get quite a bit of chicken on the chick n mix but 12 chips was a bit of a let down. When we got our drinks, they didn’t offer a glass for the bottle of cider, had to ask for it. Just a few things they could improve on. Presentation, service of drinks and food could be quicker, so drinks come before food and the food doesn’t come out almost cold.

I came along to support the reopening of the gemini after a refurbishment and new management. All staff were very friendly and fantastic at providing top mark service. Food was delicious and I will happily come back.

The Gemini is my favourite place to eat with Family and Friends. The staff are welcoming and the place looks incredible after its recent refit. A small park that my child loves to play on and the food is bang on.

Popped in the other day for some food and drinks, got the £5 burger on Wednesday, good selection of toppings and came out quickly. The new refurb looks incredible, especially the new outside seating area, heating and shelter from the rain, drinks really good value for money, would definitely recommend

Beautiful pub now it's been refurbished. Staff are always welcoming, respectful and helpful. I come with my family which includes two young children and have never had a issue. Lately it has been more busy so there has been waits which is too be expected but overall it's always a lovely experience.

A really busy, popular, local pub. A reasonable selection of veggie/vegan options (sad the vegan 'fish' and chips has been dropped). The food was well cooked and arrived quickly.
