Great place for a takeaway coffee before or after the ferry. I also had a delicious almond croissant and bought a packet of Westray Bakehouse flakey biscuits for the journey. The staff are really friendly. Highly recommended.

Coffee and pastries fine. Service with a smile wouldn't go amiss. We all have off days, but if you're in a service industry, you should at least try to not make a customer feel they're intruding. The woman serving was so 'off' I actually asked if they were having a bad Monday! After which she at least warmed up a bit. Hence, the 2* instead of 1. A far warmer welcome was received at a different cafe around the corner, so that will be my go-to next time I'm visiting.

We stumbled on this place after the kids asked for ice cream. I googled and thankfully ignores a couple of the more prominent but worse reviewed locations. Here they make their own flavours and have some that are very unique. As much as I enjoy the normal brands you can get it’s great to see somewhere doing something different and pulling it off. The flat white was also very nice and the server was friendly very helpful. I wish I had tried the sea buckthorn - next time!

We dropped in for some ice cream and it was well worth it I must say. Around 8-10 different flavours to choose from and one favourite of the day for us was the sea buckthorn for sure.

Stopped by yesterday morning and had a delicious slice of Gluten Free chocolate brownie and a large cuppa de-caff tea. Friendly staff wish we lived closer to go again, small shop but lots of variety for non gluten free eaters.

Friendly staff with very good gelato. The rose, toffee, and sea buckthorn flavours are all very good. You can park outside, or further along the street. Best visited after the Ullapool museum.

Had lunch, coffee and cake out of Cafe Margot a few times on a recent visit. The quiche salad pot is amazing. Good selection of rolls and other pastry goods. Cakes are fresh and delicious. Definitely worth a stop off if you are in the area

Nice food, delicious crossaint but extremely disappointed that I paid £4.50 for a bacon and egg sandwich for only one slice of bacon...

We live in Aberdeenshire and have been spending our weekends travelling around the north, finding some real gems! This is a super wee cafe, with a great choice of savoury and sweet delights, veggie options and a beautiful display of all the goodies you can choose from. We had lentil soup (possibly the best this weary old biker has had from a cafe, ever) served with a warm crusty bread roll, a real mouthwatering delight. We shared a HUGE strawberry tart, bursting with cream and no soggy bottom, and just had to sample the icecream. The blueberry icecream is definitely worth a taste, smooth, sweet and tangy and portions are generous. We noticed lots of rather fine looking pies, breads and many more cakes and ice creams to try. All goods were served in environmentally friendly card packaging with wooden cutlery, yes we noticed and we appreciate it, perfect for recycling in Ullapools recycling facilities just up the road. The staff were busy, it was a busy Sunday afternoon but they were ever so very friendly, smiling and chatty, we felt really valued as customers and we appreciate that too. We look forwards to returning and sampling further from the menu and maybe sitting outside to enjoy the wonderful west coast weather.

This ice cream place is normally very good but today was different. There was 3 people in a queue in front of us and it took 20 mins for us to get to the front. It’s because the staff were chatting with somebody they know. Sadly it didn’t do chocolate ice cream either. The apple juice was good and the scones were ok, and there was a tiny bit of butter on it, we barely noticed it. The staff were friends and the prices were reasonable. Might be back if there is no queue and has chocolate ice cream. Very disappointed.

Popped in as they were in the process of opening this morning and had the pleasure to meet two lovely ladies . Bought a couple of Bacon rolls and two Almond Croissants , Delicious very Fresh very moreish. Also bought some savouries for lunch later , all fresh and all at a great price 👍🏻

Due to Covid restrictions service was a bit slow but the ice cream is very good. The cakes looked good as well.

My sister and I stopped for one scoop of the coconut and mango ice cream in a carton. £3 each which we thought a bit steep as we didn’t have a cone. Couldn’t taste the mango but coconut flavour good and nice and creamy.

Popped in for some after dinner gelato and was sooo happy with this! Such a cute little cafe with a really nice selection of food!

Excellent, could spend a small fortune everyday. We only went in for Gelato but also came out with cakes and pies. Returned a couple of days later for bacon sandwiches in the morning and a cake as it would be rude not to. Definitely a place we’ll visit on our next trip

Visited in August and waited soooo long to get in the shop with current restrictions, however the spiced chicken salad roll I had was so delicious it was worth the wait, I wish I could remember what the name of it was! Sadly due the wait times I couldn't return for gelato but next time :-)

This was a really unexpected treat serving some of the best ice-cream I've eaten and, also, really good coffee. Plenty of main-stream flavours but also several really creative ones such as the pear and stilton and a blueberry ice-cream from hand-picked blueberries. You can tell a lot about the ice-cream by the texture and temperature and this was spot on.

Having had gelato from this place soon after it opened in 2017, we were waiting to go back and have some more - and we weren't disappointed! In addition to the yummy gelatos, we had excellent vegetarian food for lunch a couple of days in a row - soups, chickpea curry and beetroot & halloumi burgers. All very reasonable and with friendly service!

They have some lovely flavours such as pear and blue cheese, trust me try it! The man who served us was lovely NB - They don't have diary free but the sorbets are lovely

Stopped off in Ullapool this afternoon on our way North and got some ice creams. My partner had pistachio and coconut and I got pear & stilton and rhubarb. All the flavours were fantastic, the best ice cream we can remember having in a long time. So tasty and fresh, I hope we will be able to stop on the way back down for more!

Popped in for an ice cream last Friday as it’s been a while since last in Ullapool. Queued for a short period as only two people allowed in at a time due to CV19 restrictions. Ice cream was excellent and staff were brilliant under difficult circumstances, not easy working with masks and constantly busy. Keep up the good work, much appreciated.

We couldn’t resist the amazing ice cream from this place and kept coming back day after day. We look forward to the varied flavours and new additions every year that we stay in the area. This year’s highlights include: -Sweetie surprise and pistachio (voted for by our five year old) -Blue cheese and pear, Scottish tablet (voted for by my husband) -Blackcurrent ( berries grown by the owner) and pink marshmallow (my faves this year) -everything (voted for by the youngest , who insisted on trying all of ours) But so many other good ones.... Service is really friendly and warm and even our ASD son, who really struggles with strangers, was made to feel totally comfortable and, to our absolute delight and surprise, chatted away to the owners and even looked them in the eye! Says it all as far as I’m concerned 😃 See you next year Dwyer family xxx

My partner and I had read good reviews about this place online earlier in the day and after a spot of lunch, we wanted to see what flavours they had on offer. Due to Covid-19 limitations, there was only one person/small group allowed in at one time. We happily waited at the front of the queue for 10 or so minutes while the pair in front of us chatted away with the guy behind the counter - we were in no particular rush so didn't mind waiting. At the beginning there was no one else in the queue but by the time we entered there was one maybe two people also waiting. We went in, we said hello and just explained we wanted to quickly check out the flavours for when we come visit later in the afternoon. Immediately the guy behind the counter glared at us and then rolled his eyes, seemingly perplexed by our audacity to enter his store to see what was on show. He then proceeded to tells us indirectly, but in no uncertain terms, to get out of his store. We had been in there less than a minute. The sad thing is we were really excited to try the gelato later in the day. We were both left quite shocked at how rude and unwelcoming the man was. I would not recommend to anybody based on the service we had.

In response to best bacon roll in 2019! After reading review my husband visited to purchase 2 bacon rolls while on holiday, I would have to say it’s the worst bacon roll I have ever tasted!!! My husband watched as the bacon was reheated in a micro wave and charged £7 for the 2 rolls! The bacon had no flavour, I could have soled my shoes with it and the roll was bland too!!! Extremely disappointed and would not recommend a bacon roll here!!!

I’m quite a fussy person when it comes to bacon, but this place knows how it’s done. As well as the hand baked rolls (practically warm from the oven) the thing that really nails it for me is; when one asks for crispy bacon they don’t simply turn up the heat -as most places do- they cook it low and slow for a really even taste. I can’t sing the praises of this cafe enough. Brilliant food and service. I encourage any bacon enthusiasts to come here.

Stephen knows it all .. we entered to get 1 scoop of chocolate .. walked out with 3 scoops and a tea. Stephen convinced me to try a sorbet when I told him I don’t like it .. I ended up buying a mango and passion fruit sorbet ... the children got the chocolate .. there was apricot ice cream too which was also very tasty ....

Amazing ice cream and helpful friendly staff. The ‘very vanilla’ was out of this world. Only disappointment was that there was no chocolate ice cream on the day we visited. Definitely worth a visit.

Delicious ice cream made of interesting flavours. The ice creams really are top quality. Sea buckthorn was our favourite. Apparently the Romans’ survived on these berries when they first arrived! Really friendly service too.

As a pastry chef myself I felt very fortunate to stumble across Margots gelato shop, with flavours like Seabuckthorne and a new take on Italian amaretto as well as a blackcurrant sorbet that fizzed with the taste of summer, with blackcurrants from the owners garden! Then I was directed across to Margots cafe, I was delighted to chat to Margot about some of her favourite recipes, like a gluten free Sacher torte with a coconut twist, which she generously sliced into whilst we were chatting about her passion for travelling and sourcing inspirational favours. Thank-you for making me feel so welcome and for sharing your love of baking, it made my trip!

The white chocolate hot chocolate is out of this world, the food is amazing aswell, we will definitely be back!

Wanted an ice cream so opted for here, what a brilliant choice we made.My wife had scililian lemon and I had tangerine marmalade and rhubarb crumble.Both were absolutely amazing and tasty and excellent value for money.Had a short blether with the owner and got a potted history of how the business started.Fantastic just wish it was a wee bit closure to where we live.

Brilliant gelato! Raspberry flavour, made with fresh raspberries grown by the owner was particularly good!

Popped in for a lunch to go as the window menu looked superb. Coffee was recommended and didn't disappoint. My partner had the Italian Roast Pork bun and I had a chicken salad box, not just any old salad, this was an absolute taste sensation. Will go back

Best coffee we’ve tasted for quite awhile and lovely friendly staff. We had a small taste of two of the ice creams (raspberry and honey) which were both delicious - raspberries came from owners’ own garden! Clearly passionate about their food - owner drives 90 minutes each way to go and get fresh organic salads from small farm near Drumnadrochit. A must if you’re in Ullapool although we were lucky to go there when we did as we discovered they close for a month from tomorrow (8 October 2018) - sad for us but hopefully they’ll get a well-deserved rest!

Heard about this place from a waiter at the Kylesku hotel who told us the coffee was excellent as was the ice cream. So we decided to have both and believe me, this is best coffee I have had outside of Italy (and probably as good if not better) and although the coffee is not cheap it is well worth it. The ice cream is also superb! If in Ullapool do not miss this place.

Wonderful find! Excellent coffee and sandwiches. Ice cream made on premises and has won awards after only one year of trading. Everything is hand made to order so not the place to run and run out with a sandwich. We spent a happy hour chatting with the friendly staff. We liked the philosophy of the place, which seemed to be: top ingredients prepared with love! PS Just seen the review below about bringing your own alcohol. The reviewer must be confusing this place with somewhere else, as there is no eat-in facility. Why would you want to bring alcohol into a take away coffee shop?

Oh my goodness, this ice cream!! It is seriously good stuff! Best I have ever tasted outside of Italy. So rich and creamy and tasty, I kept going back for more! I would eat this all year round, wouldn't care if it was snowing outside, its just scrumptious! Wish we had this down where I live. The people who make this homemade ice cream in the shop are so nice and friendly too, makes it all a real pleasure.

My wife has had ices at many places around the world and rates this shop. I'm not fussed but loved the ice she bought me. Try it.

Home made brioche x 2. Excellent coffee x 1 (no, I mean really really good coffee). Sicilian lemon and pistachio (me) and lemon and Turkish delight (my daughter) on the brioches. And a son just eating the ice-cream. Lovely family atmosphere behind the counter - I gather the son-in-law brings the Turkish delight back from Turkey - is this a tall tale; I’d just love to believe it, but I am so gullible. Easily replaces the fallen boho gelato in my affections.

Great selection of ice cream. He told me they make it themselves. Distinctive and traditional flavours that have brilliant taste. They also have a range of salads and sandwiches. Who would have thought I’d find kimchi!

Stopped in this morning hoping for just a coffee and walked out with two steamy, beautiful cappuccinos and some good advice that life is too short for instant coffee and that I could pick up a French Press just around the corner at the hardware store. Did that and went back to these kind folks for a bag of good ground coffee. Their gelato looked amazing - home made on premises - and their menu made me want to miss my ferry and settle in...

The ice cream is excellent although take away snacks and drinks are also available. I always try and get a cone when i visit the town. The raspberry is delicious.

3 of stopped for ice-cream and were very pleased that we did. Only 5 or 6 flavours, but all home made and with great flavours. We tried the very vanilla and the liquorice, both were bursting with flavour. When asked who made it the server said it was her and so we had a nice chat.

Passing by and we just stopped on a whim for ice cream. The raspberry is honestly the best I have tasted. Full of flavour and refreshing.

Wandered past this lovely little shop after a hike through the highlands. I was very focused on finding a mango sorbet. I knew this was highly unlikely in a little town however the range of flavours was good and the couple serving were very helpful and great conversation. I was offered a tester of their apricot sorbet and was sold. I was simply perfect. I would highly recommend this vendor!

After a mediocre meal where we decided against dessert my daughter and I walked past this great wee place which was open in the evening and their wonderful ice cream saved the day! Pink Marshmallow and vanilla was declared excellent by my ice cream aficionado daughter. We noticed the sandwich menu which looked a bit different from the normal and the coffee smelled good too and while we didn't sample these on this visit we will definitely be back for more than ice cream next time we are in Ullapool.

I would never have described myself as a coffee snob but after 4 weeks away from my beloved Melbourne I was beginning to despair. How is it possible that coffee could be so universally foul in the UK?

Called in after a disappointing meal elsewhere in Ullapool and were delighted by the warm welcome and the excellent coffee which was no trouble to make even though they were just closing for the evening. Saw the great menu and collected a lovely take away lunch the next day. It was really delicious!!! A real gem of a place with lovely owners.

Was persuaded to try their coconut ice cream in a warm brioche bun - fabulous! Staff were really friendly and helpful and their suggestions were spot on. Would be there every day if lived locally

Absolutely outstanding!! Every single thing we had was to die for. So much so we went back the next day for even more. The fusion shortbreads are inspired!! Don't even get me started on the sour cherry amaretti... We've been to so many independent coffee shops and so few offer more than 1 choice of beans. These lovely folks offer 3!!! Cant wait for our next trip to Ullapool...

Just got off the ferry and walked past here on way to my car. I called in for a takeaway coffee. I was given a choice of blends and told staff the kind of coffee i like. I got their house blend. The coffee i got was excellent, very smooth taste and no sharp bitterness. Wish i could get coffee this good more often!! Sadly i only pass Ullapool once or twice a year but ill definitely getting another one when I’m there again!!
