We were driving back to Inverness in the Highlands of scotland, after spending a week in scarborough and passed this small coffee shop. I was absolutely desperate for a cup of tea, so my partner ran in quickly to get some hot water for me so I could make one in the car since I had my own tea bags and milk with me lol He said the 2 women that were working were very helpful and lovely. Very good customer service and a nice wee place to sit and have a hot drink. Thank you for your help. We visited on 20th March about 1430.

er no! been here 3 times now and gave the last opportunity in February. Run out of things, answering back to customers. Tried to order 3 things and were told they had run out? Told us they are a small café and can't always get amounts right for the day and we were welcome to go elsewhere! so we did and won't be returning! They clearly want to close early and make it clear that after 2pm they don't really need your custom!

The food was nice but served on cold plates about 35 minutes after ordering. By the time we'd eaten it it was stone cold. We also had to wait for cutlery as it wasn't put out when we were served with our coffee which of course was cold by the time the food came.

I take my elderly mother out every week and she wanted to visit the Yorkshire Auction House. Staff were kind and helpful. Just wish i could say the same for this cafe. I can only assume the young lad in there called Sam is related to Angus or else how can he get away with swearing at customers and being rude! We went into the cafe to be met by an empty room. I stood for 3-4 mins at the till hoping someone would notice me. Eventually a young lad i now know to be Sam came out from the toilets. I commented how the place looked closed to which i was ignored. He then returns to behind the till and i request x2 cups of tea and a toasted tea cake. His attitude in his reply that the kitchen is shut was ridiculous. He made me and my mum feel like we were not wanted and just in the way of them clearing down. Nor did Sam wash his hands after cleaning the toilets as he claimed. I'm sorry but if your open your open and if customers come in they should be made to feel welcome. Not wanting to make a fuss my mum ordered a tea and a piece of cake. I remarked you should be closed not staffing the counter leaving me wait to be served and instead cleaning toilets and shutting them off for public use with chairs. Sam spat his dummy out and called me a 'f'ing idiot'! (but used the full word) then proceeded going into the kitchen to re tell his issue to the staff which could be heard out the front. When he returned from the kitchen he obviously was not happy and made a point of banging and clattering as where we were sitting was right next to the counter! This distressed my mother and i asked if he swore at all their customers that voice an opinion to which he replied 'f off'. (but used the whole word) In the time we were in there, two other people came in and asked if they were open (mainly as Sam had clearly made it look like they were shutting) I have never had such poor service and Sam should be disciplined for swearing at customers. But hey if he is part of the family... Angus is clearly happy letting him get away treating people in the cafe this way!

My friend had an appointment at the nearby auction house, I spotted this cafe and had a cup of tea while I waited for her. The cafe is clean and spacious with pleasant staff. It was a hot day, and I had an ice cream as well as a good pot of tea. The cafe is next to the main road, with parking behind, also outside seating.

This cafe is next to the Daisy Garden Centre and doesn't look much on the outside. However inside was lovely and clean and we had a perfectly cooked full English breakfast each. Freshly cooked to order. We had cappucino and latte respectively which were also very good. Pleasant young staff and nice clean ladies' toilet.

Dining out with food intolerances can often be a minefield, but my recent experience at The Derwent Arms was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I mentioned my gluten and dairy restrictions, the staff were incredibly accommodating and reassuring. The menu, while featuring classic pub favourites, offered plenty of options that could be easily adapted. I opted for 2 courses for 12.99 and had tomato soup with gluten free bread for starter and cheese burger and chips, and the kitchen staff were more than happy to modify it to suit my dietary needs. The result? A truly fantastic meal. It's rare to find a pub that not only understands dietary restrictions but also manages to deliver a meal that tastes just as good as the original. There was no sense of missing out, or eating a bland substitution. The Derwent Arms has proven that they are a pub that truly cares about their customers. If you're looking for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with delicious food and excellent service, especially if you have intolerances, The Derwent Arms is a must-visit. I left feeling completely satisfied, and I'll definitely be returning.

The atmosphere would have been a lot better if the manager, well managed and not drank. The food was as good as it gets for pizzas, and the chefs, called Daniel and Liam, if my memory serves me well, were fantastic, brilliant quality and timing. The service was good, and it could be brilliant if the manager did his job. Fantastic, but anyone working there could do a better job then the manager, who was the only negative side to the exspience. Another thanks to the chefs.

My partner and I received excellent service by Pete with a delicious and filling meal. I had a mushroom & peanut skewer starter with a duck curry that I wasn't able to finish at the time because of how much food you get for such a reasonable price. Pete was very attentive and packed our leftovers up for us while giving us suggestions of what to do in the local area. All the best!
