We called here on Saturday on our way back from Helmsley, We had been for lunch at The Feathers and my husband was still hungry. We ordered 2 coffees a piece of homemade coconut tart and a Bacon sandwich for my husband. The bacon sandwich was lovely and so was my coconut tart. The place is spacious, clean and bright , the staff were lovely too We will definitely go again .

I take my elderly mother out every week and she wanted to visit the Yorkshire Auction House. Staff were kind and helpful. Just wish i could say the same for this cafe. I can only assume the young lad in there called Sam is related to Angus or else how can he get away with swearing at customers and being rude! We went into the cafe to be met by an empty room. I stood for 3-4 mins at the till hoping someone would notice me. Eventually a young lad i now know to be Sam came out from the toilets. I commented how the place looked closed to which i was ignored. He then returns to behind the till and i request x2 cups of tea and a toasted tea cake. His attitude in his reply that the kitchen is shut was ridiculous. He made me and my mum feel like we were not wanted and just in the way of them clearing down. Nor did Sam wash his hands after cleaning the toilets as he claimed. I'm sorry but if your open your open and if customers come in they should be made to feel welcome. Not wanting to make a fuss my mum ordered a tea and a piece of cake. I remarked you should be closed not staffing the counter leaving me wait to be served and instead cleaning toilets and shutting them off for public use with chairs. Sam spat his dummy out and called me a 'f'ing idiot'! (but used the full word) then proceeded going into the kitchen to re tell his issue to the staff which could be heard out the front. When he returned from the kitchen he obviously was not happy and made a point of banging and clattering as where we were sitting was right next to the counter! This distressed my mother and i asked if he swore at all their customers that voice an opinion to which he replied 'f off'. (but used the whole word) In the time we were in there, two other people came in and asked if they were open (mainly as Sam had clearly made it look like they were shutting) I have never had such poor service and Sam should be disciplined for swearing at customers. But hey if he is part of the family... Angus is clearly happy letting him get away treating people in the cafe this way!

My friend had an appointment at the nearby auction house, I spotted this cafe and had a cup of tea while I waited for her. The cafe is clean and spacious with pleasant staff. It was a hot day, and I had an ice cream as well as a good pot of tea. The cafe is next to the main road, with parking behind, also outside seating.

This cafe is next to the Daisy Garden Centre and doesn't look much on the outside. However inside was lovely and clean and we had a perfectly cooked full English breakfast each. Freshly cooked to order. We had cappucino and latte respectively which were also very good. Pleasant young staff and nice clean ladies' toilet.
