Had a fantastic experience here this week for my birthday. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding, really was nothing like I've had before. They really pulled out all the stops to make the occasion for us. Especially our waitress Egle for everything she did to help, Thanks!

I had a fantastic meal at Gaucho, the manager Olivia was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Egle was a fab server and went above and beyond to cater to my friends nut allergy. Ivy was great at the bar, recommendations were excellent. Would suggest a meal here!

I’m not entirely sure where all of these top reviews have come from. We booked here on Friday, purely because the actual steak house we wanted had no availability. But it was well reviewed so we gave it a go. Positives: the aesthetic of the place is lovely. Attractive spot in a good location. Now the rest: upon arrival, the guests in front of us were offered use of the coat room, yet we weren’t. Inconvenient but nothing more. We were seated upstairs and it was not a full cover. Probably 60% of tables were occupied. Yet the staff seemed so slow to attend despite us only being a table of two, with there being plenty of staff mulling around or talking amongst themselves. We ordered drinks, but they were so slow to arrive, we’d finished our starter before we were served drinks. We were offered water for the table but no bottle was left. So we had to ration the water and drinks accordingly. Because shockingly, we were never offered another until after we’d finished our mains. I paid £9 for a kiwi, alcohol free cocktail which was the size of a thimble. Not great. The food was terrible. The steaks were cooked as expected in a steak house and were good, but the sides were dire. The mash tasted like Smash from school, the broccoli almost needed to be shaved like asparagus; there was an inedible, hard coating over all of it which had to either be removed mid-chew (gross) or just not eat the broccoli whatsoever, and the butternut squash had not been peeled so texturally, there was undercooked squash with unpalatable hard skin around it. Just poor quality and attention to detail. I ordered a lobster tail with my steak and it was only as my food was brought to the table that they told me they couldn’t give me lobster as the quality was poor (although appreciate not selling me awful lobster). But you’d think that that information would be passed prior to serving the food?! Granted, the burrata starter was lovely but that was it. The empanada starter was one small, solitary empanada. I’ve eaten at many high end restaurants in this country and abroad and this is one of the worst for food and experience.

absolutely pathetic experience. don’t bother going if you’re a vegetarian ended up driving over an hour for to be offered a £14 root vegetable in cream. then when my sister politely told the manager about our experience was met with hostility and passive aggression from the manager in charge. the waitress was lovely though can’t fault her as the pathetic vegetarian options weren’t her fault but the general manager should not be in her position if that is her customer service skillset.

Shocking meal at Gauchos in Cardiff today. My sister ordered the vegan roast, which did not come with gravy. Who the hell serves a roast without gravy?? Borderline psychotic. Wouldn’t have been a problem if they had some didn’t options to give her instead of the nut roast, but no, they only had one other option. Equally, my brother and I ordered the beef - this was shocking. It wasn’t from a joint of beef, it was 2 pieces of fried flank steak. Fine. But it was gristle-y and chewy. The Yorkshire puddings were incredibly salty. Serve was extremely slow when they weren’t even that busy. Took over 10 mins to receive 1 cola & 1 bottled beer. When I said how my sister had driven over an hour to come and see us to have this roast dinner, and didn’t end up eating, I explained that I was disappointed in the restaurant to the manager. The manager clearly has poor hospitality and customer service skills as she was extremely defensive, borderline rude to me. Have been here once before and other than the waiter being weird the food was lovely - it’s obvious this place has no consistency and struggles to employ staff with basic service skills. Have cancelled my booking for next week as we were bringing relatives with us here. Would much rather go to Asador 44 or potted pig. Their roasts are much tastier and way better value for money. Ps £27 for a nut roast with no gravy is insane. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Incredibly impressed with the food, service and overall atmosphere. Ryan, our server, made sure that we felt comfortable and was very helpful - he even gave some recommendations. I definitely recommend Gaucho.

Valentine meal in Cardiff. This was our first time at the restaurant and we were really looking forward to it has being told it was lovely. We went for the set meal and ordered the chateaubriand which was an extra £20 supplement we ordered it to be cooked medium however when we started to eat it some parts of the steak was raw and not something I could eat. We replied to the restaurant survey the next day in a honest and constructive way highlighting both the good and bad of our visit the reply we received was extremely dismissive not the customer service you expect from a restaurant which is suppose to have a good reputation. If the restaurant does not address issues raise by customers in a constructive way I suggest the restaurant don’t send out the customer surveys. We were really disappointed that our valentine meal was not what we expected.

Great experience. Fantastic food. My only criticism was the beef tartare sauce is a bit too spicy, it takes away some of the taste of the meat which should be the centrepiece otherwise still really good!

Went to Gaucho Cardiff for an early Valentine's meal and my husbands birthday. Served by Dominic, who was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and generally great. All the staff were. The attention to detail and what may seem like little things but mean a lot. We don't drink alcohol, so the wine in the set menu was substituted with non alcoholic drinks. Asking us if we wanted a break between meals and not just rushing us through them. And then the extra special touch of making a note of the birthday, and bringing out a candle and card with the dessert! Easy 5 stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gaucho's amazing cuisine and service have made our anniversary date wonderful. The sides, sauces, and steak are all better than expected. Additionally, the service is immaculate. The cheesecake was delicious; the cake and cheese blend together to create a smooth, creamy texture without layers. Every bite felt like bliss. Will deffo visit again. Special thanks to Juan (sorry if I spell it wrong) and all the other staff for being very welcoming to us from the start to the end. Thanks for creating memories for us.

Pretty disappointing visit here just before Christmas. Steaks were expensive and of poor quality. Service was dreadful. I asked 3 times for water before going to ask another member of staff. Similar attempting to get another bottle of wine, asking multiple times before it finally arriving, complete with some sarcasm. Place was quiet when we visited so can only imagine it's even worse when busy. We'll be sticking to Asador 44 or Pasture in future.

We’d been waiting to come here for a special occasion as it’s a bit expensive, so we booked for our anniversary… worth every penny! From start to finish the staff couldn’t have done more, complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary, 2 cocktails for free (subscribed to the mailing list before). The attention to detail our server Amelia provided whilst going through the steak options was wonderful and she was so friendly and bubbly all evening, regardless of the fact it was very busy! The team even brought over a card and a complementary dessert, so thoughtful and made our whole visit! Steak was delicious and it came with two tasty sides and sauces. We got the sharer. Great cocktails, food and staff. Thank you Gaucho!

Lovely restaurant addition to Cardiff city centre. I tried their lunch 2 course set-menu, the rump steak with chimichuri was lovely, and their pancakes with Banana ice cream was a great end to the meal. The decor is really nice, a great place for a date or meal with friends.

I've been to Gaucho many times before but this was the 1st visit to the one in Cardiff. We went on Christmas Eve and it was just underwhelming. Lacks any real atmosphere and although the team were knowledgeable, it did feel they were just reciting trained scripts. Food was good, but you'd expect that given the high price point. Competition for good quality food is high these days and I think Gaucho doesn't deliver on the overall experience in the way somewhere like Pasture does. It's very expensive, lacks any real atmosphere and now just feels more like an expensive Miller and Carter.

First time trying this restaurant. The building is lovely and staff were very kind however we ordered a ribeye steak and asked for it to be cooked medium. The steak came raw which was a disappointment! Sauces and sides were great but just disappointing to go to a steak house and have the steak not cooked to how we had requested!

Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, ordered a fillet steak medium rare came (Rare) no flavour at all would choose a miller and carter any day over this for another reason this restaurant is way to expensive for what it’s worth

Came here with my boyfriend for a little Christmas celebratory meal and it was awesome. We’ve had our fair share of steaks and the ribeye here is well up there. Staff were super attentive, warm and friendly - also very knowledgeable about the wine list which was helpful. Look forward to coming again soon!

Had an amazing Christmas meal here with work colleagues in the upstairs area. The staff looked after us so well all evening. Food was great with good options to order - I had the beef carpaccio, turkey and then a brownie. Delicious. Would definitely come back again with a group or to try downstairs in the main restaurant. Thank you to Katie and her lovely team for such a great evening.

Steak was really good - I had the 300g churrasco de chorizo. Beautiful flavours and a really decent portion. I had some bread to start which was also lovely and then a side salad with my steak. I also had a glass of NZ Sauvignon blanc which wasn’t the best but it was ok. The bill for myself came to around £70 which was slightly steeper than I expected, especially because I had bread and a side salad to accompany my steak - so nothing too crazy! Despite this, for a treat it’s definitely a great restaurant.

Me and my partner came here for his birthday last night, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had! The food was delicious and the service was amazing. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming, both my partner and I were really impressed. We will definitely be back!

When booking table, Barney added a 3 month old to the deposit requirement with friend via email. When I called to question it (3 month old in pram and not eating), did not call me back or did not have many reply via Messenger. Also, we booked a private room but when we arrived we were given a table in the middle of the floor. Festive menu food was nice, steak was cooked lovely but chimichurri was very disappointing, not taste apart from oil. 12.5% service charge (more than £60) automatically added to bill, this is UK not America, we gave tip that we thought appropriate, the waitress was very nice and attentive. Music was playing very loud for a restaurant, had to shout to hear each other which wasn't pleasant and it was rather dark. Good selection of 0% drinks available. Don't think I'd go there again just based on the lack of customer service beforehand, the deposit and the music.

Never in my 44 years have i felt robbed at a restaurant Booked table of 12 for Saturday 23rd November. Ordered 3 small bottles of beer (£29!) with £3.02 gratuity! Anyway ordered the wagu burger £26.50 mac and cheese £8.50 ,smallest burger ive ever seen, cold. Was nice tasting but a £10 burger at a push. Fries it came with was a joke as was the £8.50 mac and cheese which was so hard and dry you could of killed someone if you threw it at them! Brothers burger was cold also and tiny. Others ordered steaks at excess of £50 !! Standard size steak that you can get anywhere for £20. The food and the price just really didn't add up at all. Total bill was way over £500 ! Ended up ordering a domino's on the way home.

Food was super average for the price. Had to send most of it back because it was lukewarm. The prices suggest it would be quality food but it was quite the opposite. The Mac and Cheese had barely any cheese.

We went to Gauchos for beaujolais day yesterday and the food was awful. The starter was some sort of solid pastry thing which I had a job to cut with a knife and it had a tiny bit of non descript filling in it. Then we all had steak with fries, there was only one of the girls on our table that had a decent steak, the rest of us left it as it was so chewy. There was no veg or desert. Certainly not worth the £75 we all paid. The drinks were extortionate. The only plus was the music and sax players were amazing. This is the 3rd time I've eaten at this restaurant and it's always underwhelming. Won't ever return which is a shame as the decor is stunning.

Lots of butter, salt- and overpriced for what it is! Nothing is distinct or special…starting with drinks at bar - while cocktails “ok” there’s no straws, no napkins served drink? £14 for a very small margarita and £8.50 for a pre-made mock tail! Sides very salty and steaks loaded with salt! At a time when. British farmers need support- felt guilty with steaks from South America being promoted!

Incredible - couldn’t speak more highly of my experience at Gaucho Cardiff! We just celebrated my partner’s 30th at Gaucho Cardiff, and it couldn’t have been better! We booked the private room, and from the moment we walked in, it felt like something really special. The room was cozy but classy, with just the right lighting and a super inviting vibe. The staff were incredible – so friendly, attentive, and so helpful! They just made everything so easy, I wish I got the names of the two members of the team that looked after us because they just nailed everything which I know isn’t easy for a room full of 30 people. Food was also just perfection, we had starters and mains (mostly steaks) everyone was raving about it - same with the drinks! Overall, Gaucho Cardiff made the night feel super special, relaxed, and memorable. If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate in style, Gaucho’s private room is definitely worth it. I can’t wait to come back and tell everyone they MUST visit!

This was our first time at Gauchos and unfortunately we wouldn't return. We felt that this was a chain restauarant masquerading as a fine dine restaurant and it was certainly priced as such - the food did not live up to the high prices. The service was quite slow and chaotic with 3 different waiters coming over within minutes of each other and explaining the same things. The drinks service was very slow and we had to chase up staff on both occassions when drinks were ordered but didn't arrive. Not a massive deal and overall the staff were fine, nobody went above and beyond what is required. It's quite irritating when restaurants automatically add service charges - I shouldn't be pressured to provide a tip - but it's especially disappointing when a restaurant tries to add a £45 tip onto your bill, and the service is just standard. The food was good but not outstanding and very overpriced. I had the sausage platter for starters which was supposed to be for 2 but I'd say was just enough for 1. £20. Quite charred and overly salty. I had a rump steak which was £36 and quite tasteless and unremarkable and well overpriced. They charged around £5 for a bottle of water and £7.50 for a small bottle of beer (330ml.) That makes it £15 for just over a pint of beer. I think this is an absolute rip off. Overall bill for 6 was just under £400 with no desserts and with 4 of us only having 1 drink. It wasn't worth it. Overall, I think Gauchos is ok but it is well overpriced and left feeling quite ripped off and disappointed.

Joan, Dominik the manager and Simone have all been great! We've been there for a date night and all of the staff done more than enough! I'm a fussy eater and drinker so we had the best recommendation on wine from Dominik, Shyraz Family reserve is the one to go if you looking for something good and smooth. The attention of our server Joan was zero to none! He was on top of our table every time we need something. Shout out to the incredible staff you have and to Simone which we had an incredible conversation even if he was with us for a short while. Well done team, we will definitely recommend to everyone if you wish to have a lovely experience and great food!!!

9.23/10 This restaurant took me on a journey of tastes with each different unique dish served. The halal steaks were good but not the best in my opinion. My absolute favourite was the sea-bass, both starter and main sea-bass were wonderful, the starter sea-bass was just wonderful, by far one of the best dishes I had eaten. I will definitely come back and recommend this place mainly for the sea-bass but all the other dishes tasted wonderful, it was honestly such a great visit. I only had a problem with how one waiter was serving every table in the restaurant which made our service really slow, but the guy was honestly super kind and nice. Other than the slow service I definitely recommend this place!

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite multiple tables being empty and online reservations showing availability throughout the evening, we were told there were no tables for us. Strangely, other people were seated before and after us without any issues. This treatment felt unjust and discriminatory. If this isn’t prejudice or xenophobia, I’m not sure what else could explain it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Gaucho is hands down one of the best steak restaurants I’ve ever been to. I recently celebrated my partner’s birthday there, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the overall quality of the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion, and the service we received was top-notch. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an amazing dining experience, especially if you’re a steak lover. We’ll definitely be back!

Good service, albeit a little rushed at times, excellent quality meats. Ordered the 1.2 kg Gaucho Sampler, which includes two sides and two sauces priced at £130.

Absolutely amazing experience. Everything seems to be on a perfect standard of what you expected and a little surprising.

My husband and I recently dined at Gaucho and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. We began our meal with the butterfly prawns and sea bass starters—both dishes were perfectly cooked, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The prawns were succulent, and the sea bass was tender and beautifully seasoned. For our mains we opted for chateaubriand paired with a malbec. The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly to our liking, and the red wine complemented it so well that it elevated the entire dish. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy yet elegant. Overall, the whole experience exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning! Highly recommended!

Outstanding experience yesterday! First time at Gaucho Cardiff and was blown away by the service from Ray, lovely guy and so attentive. Sunday roast was beautiful 😍 my only criticism was no cauliflower cheese, would really love this to be added to the Sunday roast. The meat was beautiful and unlimited Yorkshire puddings! Restaurant itself is beautiful and a lovely ambiance. Cannot wait to return.

Booked a Sunday roast, arrived half an hour early and asked if there was any chance we could be seated sooner. Was told some tables would be clearing and we could wait at the bar. Ended up waiting half an hour anyway to then find out there are no Sunday roasts available. This was at 3:30pm and their menu states they can’t guarantee it’s available after 5pm so we were quite surprised. Travelled in 40 mins specifically to try their Sunday roast so this was overall pretty disappointing.

My partner and I came here for our anniversary meal. The staff were amazing and very knowledgeable, service was fast, and the food was brilliant. They even gave us a card and a free dessert as an anniversary gift which was lovely. We will definitely return. A special thank you to Dominic. He was great

Called in yesterday just for drinks, we were celebrating our wedding Anniversary. The bar man was fantastic, he did tell me his name, but unfortunately I've forgotten. He was from Dublin. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and delicious cocktails he made us! Once hearing that is was our Anniversary, he gave us a glass of bubbles on the house to toast. Which was so kind. We didnt eat there unfortunately as we had booked somewhere else, but the food that we seen coming out looked delicious. We will definitely be returning for our next meal.

An amazing restaurant with a fabulous menu to suit everyone's taste. One of the best places for a great night out with friends or as a couple. This is a really nice place to sit and have a meal. The food was really good (high quality), staff was friendly (specially Simone) and quick and the prices are far more reasonable than other restaurants in the area. Drinks on the expensive side, but it is a very touristy area.

We was visiting the city and according friend’s recommendations came to check, because as a meat lover was important to get some quality food. Special thanks for our waiter- Simone. Who perfectly knew what to suggest and was professionally friendly and made our visit very pleasant. Atmosphere at the restaurant makes you feel special, and of course we had an amazing diner. Stake was cooked perfectly and the beef tartar was one of the best i ever tried.

Could not fault it! We booked for a celebration and the staff were all over it. They brought a card, a decorated dessert and a glass of bubbles to help us toast the occasion. Could not have done more for us! If I’m honest I’m surprised to see even one negative review after the experience we had! Myself and my partner are both in hospitality ourselves and are fairly discerning when it comes to dining out and good service and this was show stopping. Even without the extra fuss the meals were superb, every dish myself and my partner tried was delicious with the steak being incredible it’s always wonderful to make sure the sides are just as good. I had the fillet and my partner had the ribeye and both were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Humita as a side was 10/10 and is definitely a ‘must get’. The Malbec and bone marrow jus was a show stopper, although the steak didn’t even need a sauce as it was such an excellent stand alone dish. Even the chips were superb which I sometimes think a lot of steak focused places really drop the ball on chips. These were addictive! The drinks menu was exciting and I really loved how innovative and thoughtful all their cocktails were. Wine was also out of this world. Gaucho is definitely on the more expensive side but I really feel like it’s worth the spend especially for a special occasion. Portion sizes are generous and I don’t think there was a single bite left uneaten at our table. These days it’s hard to be a stand out in a sea of restaurants doing it well, especially when it comes to steak, but my experience of Gaucho are they are definitely one of the new heavy hitters in Cardiff. Yesterday was our first year wedding anniversary and we booked Gaucho. The atmosphere was amazing the staff greeted us straight away with such a warm welcome, once seated the staff thoroughly went through the steaks which which was amazing as we haven't been to many steak restraunts. The food arrived and tasted AMAZING it was so flavoursome and steaks cooked to perfection 👌 The staff were very engaging in conversation and couldn't have done more. Towards the end of our meal we was presented two complimentary glasses of proseco and presented a anniversary card signed from all the staff from gaucho which was such a kind and lovely thing. We cannot recommend Gaucho enough and will be coming back again, Thank you to all the staff at Gaucho for making our 1st year anniversary meals so memorable 😊

We went for the new lunch menu. It was great. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was good. Julia looked after us really well and explained everything as it was our first time. We already booked our table for my daughters graduation week!

We had dinner here and was served by Cammy who was great, she knew the menu and could recommend. The food was lovely and loved that they had a DJ. We went for an anniversary and they went to the effort of giving a personal card and champagne. Would definitely go back and will recommend!

The food and service was lovely , I ordered a Shirley Temple but unfortunately it tased more like a pink lemonade.

Incredible food, everything we had from the steaks to the broccoli to the truffle Mac & cheese was perfect. Dimly lit mood vibes, and fantastic service (I think it was Shivan who looked after us)!! Highly recommend!
