Gaucho in Tower Hamlets

Tiny portions, pretentious and OTT decor. Pricey. Argentinian steakhouse this might be, but not a very good one! The only saving grace are the staff - polite, helpful and attentive.

I could call myself a regular here and I have always loved it. Came back for the first time this year and as soon as I sat down the manager brought my favorite cocktail on him. Loved the gesture and the whole experience.

From the moment I stepped onto the terrace, bathed in glorious sunshine, I knew this Sunday roast at Gaucho Canary Wharf was going to be special. The stunning waterfront views provided the perfect backdrop to a truly exceptional meal. The roast itself was cooked to perfection. The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavour, and the Yorkshire puddings were light and fluffy. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. Every element of the meal was clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel incredibly welcome. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. Combine the delicious food, the stunning location, and the fantastic service, and you have a truly unforgettable dining experience. Gaucho Canary Wharf is the perfect place to enjoy a Sunday roast on a beautiful sunny day. I can't wait to return!

If you go for steak, this may be a great choice. But other food is not worth even 10 bucks. Drinks are ok. Google shouldn’t bring this as an italian restaurant in search. It is very disappointing . Paid close to 200 bucks for three but poor food menu outside the steak menu.

Went here for a friends private birthday dinner. The food was meh, but staff were amazing and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure our group were fully catered for.

Food and staff were excellent. There was a slight issue with one of my dishes and the way it was handled by the staff was impeccable. I've only dropped star as the decor is not to my taste and sitting by the bar meant atmosphere was a bit lacking.

OK but somewhat overpriced for what it is. Ribeye steak was good, cooked to perfection; but, chips and mushrooms could have been a good deal hotter. Apparently the fillet steak was rather sinewy... not what one would expect at the price, and again chips were sub par.

Came here for an early Valentine’s celebration, waitress was very attentive and had a lot of personality making the service enjoyable. The steak didn’t wow me it tasted quite burnt on the outside in certain parts. The mash was nice and creamy and the mac and cheese was average not bursting with flavour.

Welcome was very poor. Stood waiting to allocates a table for several minutes with staff passing us at least 8-10 times without even an acknowledgement let alone a ‘sorry, with you shortly’ had to stand the way and force a conversation before someone actually dealt with us. After that all fine and the guy serving our table was great.

This is an amazing restraunt and the food was delicious. Our waiters, Robert and Baker, were excellent and provided a fantastic service.

I went there for my grandmothers birthday and whilst the interior was cosy, they were understaffed on a very busy Saturday which soured the experience and quality of food provided. I was shocked at how unprepared they seemed, as businesses usually know when local events are happening and plan around it (there was a lights show nearby that had attracted an influx of tourists). The floor staff tried their best however despite the chaos, so I commend them for that. Our booking was for 6pm and we didn’t get our food until around 7:45pm. They ran out of most of the steak dishes and the chicken ones that we ordered took ages to arrive were well cooked but not marinated, making for a tasteless dish. The sides were good but not enough to fill us up. One of them was missing but it was comped by the waiter at our table, which was a small grace. We were all still hungry and not in a good mood afterwards and ended up eating out elsewhere. I lost track of the amount of times I got up to request some sort of service or to chase up on what was happening throughout the whole time I was there. Once again, I commend the staff as they were struggling for no fault of their own and they still were polite and professional. I just wish we were able to have a proper Gaucho experience. UPDATE: Despite me emailing the manager TWICE to try and make things right, he never got back to me. Lip service > actual service at this venue from the looks of it.

Went for the Valentine’s set menu on Friday. Food was lovely and came out perfect, the timings in between each course gave us enough time to relax and chat whilst enjoying the food. Our server Adrien was knowledgeable and welcoming making our experience that extra bit more special. Will definitely be returning if we are back in London

Como visitante regular de Londres, he tenido durante mucho tiempo una política de "tratar de mantenerse alejado del West End (con un par de excepciones) " cuando se trata de comer fuera. Aparte de las multitudes están las trampas turísticas. Era mi regalo de cumpleaños y siempre he querido "hacer" Gaucho's. ¡Podría haber ido a los más locales de Glasgow o Edimburgo pero terminé en Canary Wharf! Karim era nuestro camarero y nos cuidó magníficamente, empezando por mostrarnos un plato de los diferentes cortes de filete y los pros y contras de cada uno. Las porciones son bastante generosas, mi esposo tenía la terrina de bistec como su entrada y se quedó impresionado por ello - lo mismo para mi propio plato de salchichas argentinas. Todos los vinos eran caros, desde £ 40 a más de £ 200 la botella. Pero fuimos por uno desde el extremo inferior de la escala y aún así fue excelente. El servicio era muy rápido, lo que era impresionante dado que el restaurante estaba muy ocupado y la gente que no había reservado estaba siendo rechazado. Todo el personal que conocimos se interesó en nosotros - el Maitre 'D vino y se presentó y me deseó un feliz cumpleaños y todo el personal parecía intrigado que habíamos viajado todo el camino desde Escocia por una noche, y como tenían la información privilegiada que era mi cumpleaños me dieron mi postre servido con una vela y 'feliz cumpleaños' escrito en chocolate y un par de vasos de efervescencia en la casa! Concluiré diciendo que sí - no es barato (éramos más de £ 100 por cabeza para cuando terminamos) , pero no me importa derrochar si la calidad es buena y aquí superaron con creces mis expectativas y sin duda volverán algún día.

Already visited four different branches of Gaucho and as always 5starts for everything. The steaks, cocktails, service and atmosphere.

We were visiting on a voucher as a Christmas/ Birthday present purchased by my daughter and her partner. The manager and staff treated us as very special people. The service and food were excellent. Would recommend this to everyone we know and definitely go back

Ate here for a business lunch and had the 3 course menu which proved to be great value with lots of choice. Also indulged in some cocktails which were amazing. It’s a very well laid out with an open kitchen. On a Tuesday early afternoon very quiet but the service was excellent. We were well looked after. Excellent for special occasions and on a good weather day some great views of the Thames.

I booked via their free lunch campaign and their prawns starter is one of the best prawn dishes I've ever had 🤩They also make a mean margarita!!

The steak is amazing and the service is excellent. The restaurant was quite empty as the winter light festival was taking place in the same area.

My burger was cold, I ordered the wagyu burger but got the American style one. The waitress just put it on the table without specifying which one was which, we were left unattended on a few occasions, had to search for them for the bill. I was very disappointed

We used to visit once in a months on average, and we loved the igloo experience! Food is good quality, and service is always fantastic. However, there is now healthy competition in the area for steak restaurants, and this Gaucho lags behind in terms of food quality for the price segment. The restaurant facilities also clearly need an upgrade and I’d recommend they change their cleaning company - the tables are often sticky and bathrooms are not the most pleasant. Worth noting it is dog friendly. So, if you don’t enjoy having a bunch of fluff thrown into your steak from a furry friend at table nearby (not to mention the smell), this Gaucho is not for you.

I dined as part of a large group that could choose two courses from a pre-theatre menu. I opted for the steak tartare tacos for my starter and, for my main, the chorizo, a style of sirloin steak.

Went for new years last night, food was cold, steak was cooked well done when we asked for medium rare. The one vegetarian option turned out cold and extremely plain for £16, got given the bill before our food arrived which included a £17 service charge, staff were very rushed and no one asked how the meal was while we were eating. The staff used the excuse of “it’s a late night booking” that’s why they weren’t attentive. I don’t think they should be accepting bookings at a late time if they are unable to accommodate for all guests, there were other people booked in after us so I guess they received the same poor service. Another waitress came over and apologised for the long wait for our second round of drinks and offered to refund these. Only at this point after we were eating was when someone asked how the food was. We explained the situation and the poor service, they did refund the whole bill which was nice and glad they took accountability for it. But we wanted to have a lovely meal with good service which we did not receive. Would not recommend at all. As per the reply, we arrived at 20 past, very poor service don’t offer tables late if you can’t provide good service.

Great experience went for lunch and got shown every cut they serve and the way they’re cooked. Would recommend highly, food was great as always.

Nice service, but I'm not sure the meat was real Argentinian Angus; it tasted different from other Argentinian Angus I've had. It was also very pricey for the quality and didn't even include sides. You can get much better value for £100 per person elsewhere.

I celebrated my birthday at Gaucho Canary Wharf, and it was amazing! The staff were incredibly friendly and made the evening so special. The food was outstanding, especially the steaks, and the wine selection was perfect. The stunning location and great service made it unforgettable. Can’t wait to visit again!

Went to celebrate my flatmates' birthday yesterday, and the food and service were impeccable. Pacar, our sever, was extremely thorough and thoughtful, tending to our every need. So shout out to him. The managers also made an effort to make us feel welcomed, which made such a difference to the experience of Gaucho. Food was delcious from start to finish. My Churassco de Chorizo was cooked to perfection. Enjoyed every moment of it and would highly recommend going again.

I love Gaucho. It's just ruddy expensive. Otherwise, I'd go more often. Steaks are lush. Some of the sides can be a miss. Cocktails are great. Service is usually some of the best I've found in hospitality. Recommend!

With so much competition for good steak restaurants in Canary Wharf now I must say I was a bit disappointed overall with Gauchos. Value wasn't there for the quality we received, what once was many years ago a favourite of mine, doesn't quite live up the expectations I had. The sauages to start were far too burnt, the steaks overall were OK, none of them were great. 3 out of 5 represents a fair reflection of the experience and quality we had.

Worst dining experience in a long time. It was truly terrible which was shocking, dined at Gaucho at the O2 two years ago and it was ok. The experience at the Canary Wharf one was so bad. My friends and I didn’t enjoy a thing. The steak was burnt and not in a good way, mash wasn’t good, even the cocktails were bland. The cheesecake we ordered for dessert was also burned and tasted stale. When the bill arrived we were shocked to see £500, thank goodness we checked every line item, we discovered we were given the wrong bill. Terrible terrible experience.

We had an incredible late lunch at Gaucho Canary Wharf in one of their outdoor pods, and it was the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon with friends. From the start, the experience was exceptional. We began with a nice selection that set the tone for the meal, followed by a fantastic Argentine meats, expertly cooked and full of flavor. The wine selection was excellent, perfectly complementing the food, and the cocktails were equally impressive. Special thanks to Francesco, the talented bartender, for crafting such delicious drinks. What truly stood out, however, was the outstanding service. Our waiter, Adrian, was a star throughout the meal—friendly, attentive, and making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our experience. He truly elevated the evening and made it memorable. All in all, it was an amazing dining experience: phenomenal food, great drinks, and impeccable service. I will absolutely be back soon!

Underwhelming experience. Service was rushed but friendly, steak was well cooked but nothing special, fries were cold and the Bernaise sauce was absolutely terrible...straight from a packet. Chain, high volume restaurant at high prices. There is much better out there.

This is a solid choice in Restaurant in Canary Wharf. We tried the Churrasco Lomo and the texture was great. In terms of price point, we are though not fully sure whether that is worth it, but with rising prices everywhere it just needs to be taken to account. Otherwise the steak salad was great too, but would recommend two sides if you need it to be very filling. The restaurant staff was fabulous. Very friendly and helpful despite of the restaurant being busy. Great choice to go!

So we thought Gaucho Canary Wharf would fit the bill to celebrate two Birthdays on the same day. One of them a 50th. We were looking forward to the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately we were seated outside in one of the pods. Bear in mind it was absolutely freezing and that door opening on the pod was awful and let the coldest air in so we basically sat in the pod freezing for entire duration of high killed any birthday atmosphere we were seeking to add to the enjoyment of the night. Thanks Gaucho for that! The service was otherwise very good and our waiter was attentive and helpful. Nothing to fault other than like an arm food that had to make the journey from the restaurant and through the cold air to our pod! The food was otherwise of high quality but given the price charged you would expect it. Shame really that the high points where marred by a few low ones given we wanted to celebrate a 50th.

We are a Spanish family who love to eat well and we have 100% enjoyed this experience at GAUCHO CANARY WHARF. I especially want to highlight the attention given by Jorge, a man from Cádiz living in London who captivates with his friendliness; and, as an overdose of good treatment, attention, professionalism, friendliness and kindness, we highlight the service provided by Shaffin, an expert in exolicarnes, cuts of meat and good wine. We give a 10 to Jorge and Shaffin for their special and wonderful attention. In food, we highlight the SALMON TACOS AND THE LOMO CHURRASCO, two authentic delicacies. And as it came, the MALBEC SUSANA, delicious. A totally recommended gastronomic experience.

We loved him and his positive energy.The igloo pod was a fantastic experience. It was heated and had a Bluetooth speaker which made our time even more enjoyable! The steal was delicious. A Truly Memorable Dining Experience at Gaucho Canary Wharf My recent visit to Gaucho Canary Wharf was nothing short of spectacular, and a big part of that was thanks to our amazing waiter, Anton. From the moment we were seated, Anton made us feel like valued guests, going above and beyond to ensure our experience was flawless. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, as he guided us through the various cuts of steak and recommended the perfect wine pairings. Anton’s attention to detail, warm demeanor, and impeccable timing made the evening truly special. The food itself was exquisite — perfectly cooked steak, delicious sides, and desserts that were the perfect finish to an outstanding meal. But what really sets this place apart is the service. Anton is a shining example of professionalism and hospitality, and I can’t recommend Gaucho Canary Wharf enough. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for Antonio!

Had a fantastic experience at Gaucho Canary Wharf! The atmosphere was grat and the service was attentive yet relaxed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Kareem explains everything perfectly from the different cuts of meat to wine. The steak was cooked exactly right, and the wine selection complemented the meal wonderfully. It’s a bit pricey, but it's absolutely worth it for a special night out. Highly recommended!

We visited gauchos Canary Wharf with friends one Friday night. We booked ahead and had a decent table in the dimly lit venue. The service was good and all of the food was delicious, my steak was cooked to perfection. We had a few glasses of wine and all in all had a great night

We’ve just finished my birthday meal here at Gaucho’s in Canary Wharf. It has honestly been one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Shaffin was looking after us for the evening, he was extremely friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable about the menus, food and drink. The food was phenomenal, we both had steaks which were seasoned so well, and the chips, broccoli and butternut squash. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was also extremely generous in giving us dessert for free as part of my birthday. It was really such a lovely experience for the end of the day. Thank you Shiffin and all the amazing staff and chefs at Gaucho for a memorable 35th birthday. I have no doubt we will be back

Very disappointing experience. Restaurant with such a reputation should not allow comprise with the quality of jts dishes. Desert was just awful, fries were uncooked and the steak was below average.

Took a friend here for a birthday dinner, due to road traffic accident we were running very late, but I called ahead and they graciously accommodated a change in our reservation time. The restaurant was very busy and unfortunately we were seated at a table that was very draughty. Customer service was very good and the food was excellent of course, although my steak was not cooked to how I ordered it, I didn’t mention it in the moment as I didn’t want to sour the birthday mood for my friend. The birthday celebrant really enjoyed their whole meal, wine and the birthday treat from the restaurant. Overall it’s a similar standard to other Gaucho locations in London, they do have beautiful views in the daytime or in better weather. There may be an accessible toilet but I didn’t see it, otherwise the bathrooms are down a spiral staircase which was a challenge for me.

Excellent service, food and ambience - really lovely evening in a pod. Restaurant was really really helpful when we asked to increase the booking from 6 to 7. Only downside is the cost!
