Where were the menus? Eventually given tatty incomplete booklet! No soup. Tables need wiping over. Obvious they don’t try too hard and no local competition.

Completely divine as always. Hubby and adult son choose croque monsieurs a piece and I selected the sourdough topped with fresh curd blackcurrants and honey - sublime. The food never disappoints. We were all feeling extra hungry and wanted to try the SOTD so ordered a portion of celeriac soup to share. Truly delicious and perfectly seasoned. Really some of the best food I’ve eaten at this welcoming and wonderfully decorated establishment ( a visit to their previous site I ordered a beetroot and mackeral salad) a real gem of an eatery with excellent selection of drinks ( licensed). Thank you Gather ✌️🤩🙏

So disappointed after reading the great reviews. Unfortunately, lunch menu very limited, not generous portions, the small bowl of soup was served with thin burnt sourdough bread slices, quite pricey, it felt cold inside the restaurant on a very chilly winter day.

We have visited Gather many times as we live locally. It always has a great atmosphere and is busy with customers. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is always superb with lovely ingredients. Large portions on offer. We went for the brunch and had the Eggs Benedict and Croque Monsieur with ham. Our meals were perfectly cooked and looked amazing on the plate. Well worth a visit.

On route between jobs, and really hungry, I passed this place, turned around, and parked-up, in which to explore. What a really pleasant place, homely, comfortable, relaxing and a bit unconventional - qualities I particularly like for a venue for a snack meal. The menu board offered quite a few interesting choices, and the menu is, apparently, changed every day. I chose the top-priced offering Lamb Shish Kebabs (note the plural) at £12. The meal was perhaps a tad delayed in arrival, and this was recognized by the lady who appeared to be in charge of service. She needn’t have worried as was unconcerned because service was obviously quite busy, but it was nice to be informed though. My meal arrived and it looked very good, lots of good fresh slaw/salad with lots of ingredients on a warm soft flatbread with a single large kebab (note the singularity). The taste and texture of the salad was great especially the creamy feta cheese chunks. The kebab was fresh, tender, not greasy and was well flavoured, it was also acceptably warm rather than hot which was good with the salad. If was an exceptionally good snack meal with great textures and complex flavours especially in the salad. I was left wanting more (because I enjoyed it so much) but it was plenty enough for a snack. I did point out that the menu board offered kebabs rather than kebab - apparently as the kebabs are made on the premises there is a chef’s discretionary decision on 2 x half-sized kebabs or a single full-sized kebab.I really like this place, and will call in again in the future.

I had a bowl of leaves with a few shavings of beetroot and mackerel buried in it. It was just a bowl of lettuce for lunch! Best lunch plate under 10 pounds I’ve had in ages. A generous portion of sourdough toast heaped with a delicious crab ‘pate’ which is very nicely crabby and beautifully seasoned. Topped off with some lovely ‘sprouts’ avocado and other delicious bits including a rather elegant heritage carrot in a fetching shade of purple. My husband had a gorgeous glass of house white wine with his which I didn’t have as I was driving. Friendly owners and cosy atmosphere. Would rate this place over most of the cafes in central Bath for a super plate of food. I’ve had the same dish twice now and it was superb both times. Must go again soon and try another dish. it’s taken me a while to find time to write this review, my apologies for that.

This is a welcome addition to Batheaston. Have been a number of times for coffee ( must be about 10 times) and while coffee is very good the staff are not particularly welcoming or friendly, even though we come here at least every two weeks there is no hint of recognition! It's handy as we are local! Decor is determinedly shabby but not in a good way and seating is uncomfortable. Food always looks great. With a little effort in the furnishings, an upgrade of the toilet facilities and a welcoming staff this could be fantastic.

I was very pleased to arrive at this lovely little cafe just in time for lunch - it closes at 2.30 on Saturday and does not open at all on Sunday. Lovely rustic interior, nice atmosphere and potentially lovely food. The menu was perfect - half a dozen delicious looking lunchtime snacks but what a disappointing welcome. When I arrived there was one other couple about to leave. None of the 4 staff offered a friendly greeting until I said 'hello'. I took a seat at the table next to the counter. I caught the young man's eye and asked for a pot ot tea which arrived served in lovely pottery cup/saucer/pot - perfect. As we were sitting right next to the counter we looked up and politely asked the young lady for our lunch order. She replied 'can you order at the counter please'! Our brie & fig on sourdough arrived and looked attractive & delicious. It was pleasant enough though there was an underwhelming quantity of brie for the price. As we left and offered our 'goodbye' we certainly didn't feel our custom had been valued. Such a disappointing experience for what could have been fantastic.

This is a lovely spot to stop in for a really good coffee and delicious food. The menu is small, as I think it always should be. There's nothing worse than an extensive choice of frozen or stale rubbish that you could do better at home. What I cannot do well at home is an excellent Croque Monsieur, but Gather definitely can. I've had the traditional ham, and the mushroom varieties, and they are both of an excellent standard. The coffee and sweet goods are great too. I was initially suspicious of the chocolate and beetroot cake's purple icing, but it was fantastically moist, and had a deep, pleasant flavour. The non-clichéd sixties tunes give the atmosphere a spritz of unusual perfume, which compliments the rustic, artisanal and original feel of Gather. This place is a one off.

The breakfast was very good, I had the scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and avocado. As another reviewer stated there was very little engagement with our party socially, I'm not one for over the top conversations but an interest in why we were visiting would have been nice. As we were staying in self catering a few doors down, if offered we could have taken some cards to leave back at our accommodation to advertise the cafe. However, the reason we came was for breakfast and I can highly recommend it.

Popped in for drinks and nibbles on a Friday night after work and we were joined by our neighbours. We love the concept, the setting, the drinks were great - nibbles only one of the three listed (nuts etc) was available. The only downside was the rather laissez faire attitude. Virtually nothing was said to us as we came in. There was no one else there at the time (just us two customers) and three people working. We were told they were busy with the transition from day to night setting... We had more said to us when the lady who I guess is the owner complained about their staff who had put a candle too close to a painting. For me, and for our neighbours, this was a serious downside. We would love to have a friendly welcome and would go regularly if anyone had been friendlier. The following week, I popped in to buy some bread and it was just the same. I might as well have gone to the supermarket. Still, I wish them well.

Both our meals were delicious; there are more options for breakfast and snacks, and I spotted a big pile of what I think were Bertinet pastries (which is to say - scrumptious!) Lovely ambience, friendly service. We certainly intend going back very soon. I'd particularly recommend it for vegetarians; can't recommend a particular dish as the menu seems to change almost daily.

This is a newish cafe, and the only one in Batheaston, but what a gem! It's aim is to promote community, and we had a great visit. The owners, Lucy and Andy used to have an antique shop at the same premises. We went for a drink on Friday night, when it is open until 10pm. It was lively but civilised and obviously popular. We had a most enjoyable evening chatting with local people. That was followed by Saturday morning breakfast, together with the rellies we were visiting in Batheaston. The food was excellent. The croque monsieur (with cheese and ham or mushrooms) was the most generous I have ever come across, delicious! Service was quick and friendly. My only suggestion would be a hood over the stove for when bacon is on the go.We liked the place so much that we went back again for Sunday morning coffee. We discovered that it is a favourite for cyclists and families as well as people like us.Although we only needed to walk, there is no parking immediately outside but there is a (free?) car park a couple of hundred yards away - next to the new footbridge across the River Avon.Best wishes for a great venture.

Popped into their new location in the Ram this morning, with a friend. Amazing, great coffee, a secret sausage roll to die for, great staff...time to chat and a great atmosphere.

I visit Picnic Coffee every week for the delicious coffee and lemon drizzle cake. However, the staff just bring my order to the table and walk away without a word or a glance at me. Where are the staff other reviewers praise so highly?

Visited this cafe with my 2 children, we had a drink first the children done some colouring which they enjoyed, We then went into the soft play area cost £4 per child adult £1 , your in there for a hour, the children had a lovely time, my only complaint is they were not allowed to leave the soft play area for a drink as if they did they wouldn’t be allowed back in,
