Had a takeaway delivered to our holiday site, food was fresh,hot and delicious. We will definitely use them again Thank you Two very satisfied customers

Great piece of fish ruined by awful soggy batter and similar chips. Should have looked at the hygiene rating before entering also. Sign in the window was a zero. I also leave it to you to decide how the center of the fish was way hotter than the outside. Pysgod ping. Yuck.

Excellent service and food would highly recommend the kebab or Pizza. Delivery was prompt and food was warm and tasty, with fresh salad.

We tried to visit another venue across the road, but they wouldn't let our dog sit under the table. So fish and chips. First off we found out that the new owners had recently moved from our home county Shropshire and that they knew their fish and chips. Great meal, very fresh fish delicious chips. Served with salad and all gluten free. Very clean. Ignore any review before July 2019,the new owners deserve success with such good food. Oh parking across the road is available.

With several eating options nearby in Goodwick we opted for the cheapest. We ordered basic cod and chips with separate bowls of curry sauce and mushy peas. Firstly, the staff seemed so laid back it took them forever to serve us (we were the only customers in the cafe AND the chip shop!). The food was hot and the fish well cooked. The chips tasted ok but looked anaemic. Side dishes were nothing special but edible. Yes, it was cheap but not a patch on similar fish and chip cafes we go to regularly

Fish seemed dry and staled chips good peas tasted funny eating in quite expensive better places to eat

Ate here recently. Would not recommend due to quality of food. Would not recommend this chip shop. Restaurant next door was closed.

Called here to have some chips by the sea. Scampi was freah cooked so were nice sausage an fish cakes were warm and chips were recooked from night before. They were unedible wont reckomend this place

We ate here 1 night in September, in the attached 'restaurant'. As per some other comments, we had to remind the waiter after 20 minutes had passed - apparently he'd forgotten to pass the order on, which was a bit surprising because we were the only people in there & the take-away part was also empty. The price, £12.50 for cod & chips is excessive. The quality was mediocre; the chips limp & greasy & the batter on the fish stodgy. The Rose & Crown opposite serves much better food.

Prices don't change, but the portion sizes do if you're not local. Parents who live here get bigger portions than we do when visiting in the summer. This week they missed half the family food order - how can you forget fish off an order in a fish and chip shop?! Go to Hooked @ 31 on the Golden Mile in Fishguard instead

Popped in here as everywhere else was booked up. Staff were young, slow and dilatory but sweet if that’s what you want in waiting staff! We ordered cod and chips x 2 with mushy peas x 1 so not an onerous order, but guess what? no mushy peas turned up! Fair enough a rather watery portion turned up once they were reminded! We also ordered two Cobra beers which eventually turned up, again once reminded. They were ice cold and so perfect! A second lot were ordered but promptly forgotten by the waitress so yet another reminder was in order! The fish chips and tartare sauce were divine with thin light crisp batter on the large portions of fish, chips light fluffy and crisp and the sauce tangy and tasty. £25 for the fish and chips, £2.50 for the portion of peas and £14 for 4 bottles of Cobra so not a cheap meal but worth it!

The food was fine. It's hard to ruin fish and chips. The service was OK. They do a lot of take out so the fish is obviously fresh. We ate in the restaurant away from the bustle of the take out counter. The desserts looked interesting, but the portions of fish were so generous that we didn't have room to try them.

Worked here. Slight problem is the chef. Will not listen, has to have it his way, seems nice but shows his true colours if you don't do it his way. Parents have eaten here and didn't like it, so this review is on behalf of parents. Curry is horrid, mushy peas OK. He waters down the mushy peas and beans. Hubby likes the fish but the chips r horrid. The toilet is clean but the outer area outside the toilet is damp ridden. The ceiling near restaurant door is mouldy and slightly falling down. No parking, no advertising board, and he's risen restaurant prices. Its dated. I could write more as there are other major problems.

Half the menu was unavailable and what little they did have to offer was too greasy to eat. A waste of time and money.

Went there on a Friday night. Did try a few of the other better rated chip shops in Fishguard first; but they were super busy. This one wasn't. At this point my 'spider sense' shoud have told me to avoid; as this place was completely empty. I was however hungry. Such is supply and demand; I was in demand and this place was able to supply. Chips tasted like they'd been there a while; and the fish was covered in what i can best describe as an 'icky' thick batter. My wife swears blind that the fish was frozen, as it was watery and made the batter even soggier. Poor on several levels i'm afraid

Esperábamos para coger un ferry que salia por la noche. Fuimos a cenar. Con pocas ganas nos dieron la carta, nuestro nivel de inglés es ... Pregunté que era Beef Kidney, me respondieron BEEF! Lo pedí, Era una tartaleta con riñones! Ni agradable ni sabroso ni ... A la hora de pagar nos dijeron que no aceptaban tarjeta, Pedimos pagar en Euros, el cambio fue a su manera.

We were staying up the road at the Fishguard bay hotel.

Huge portions and lovely chips cooked to order. We are from Yorkshire so fish and chips bar is set very high but this came up to the mark.

We were holidaying in Abercastle late Aug 2017 (last week), on a trip to Gooding and Fishguard we decided to stop for Fish and chips at Gary's as we had seen it advertised in a local paper.

We had Fish and Chips here. The food tasted great. The service was fast and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a popular takeaway chip shop with adjacent sit in restaurant. Good quality food but service a little quirky. We ordered 2 meals in the restaurant and I was served and eat my meal before my wife was served hers. It appeared the restaurant orders were getting less priority than the take away orders? This happened with other clients on an adjacent table. We laughed it off but they really should sort themselves out.

Very good fresh fish with 'take away' or eat in option (in licenced restaurant). I chose to eat in and the food was well presented. The only down side was that the "licensed restaurant" turned out to be a choice of which can of bear you wanted! (I would have preferred to buy my can at Tescos across the road - at half the price - and bring it in with me.) But the food cannot be faulted.

Second night is Goodwick and fancied a simpler cheaper dinner. A couple of pints in the Hope and Anchor followed by tasty cod and chips. Perfect

Simply the best cod and chips in the whole of Wales without a doubt! You have to wait while they cook what you want - but WELL worth waiting for. Nowhere to beat it for traditional cod and chips

Waited at least 30 minutes for takeaway fish and chips. Yes, it is cooked to order, but it would have been nice to have been warned when ordering about how long it would actually take to cook.

Went Sunday night of bank holiday weekend. Arrived around 7.30 and ordered fish and chips and tea for 4. After 30 minutes we were given a tea pot with one tea bag and no cups. We asked the waitress if this was really for 4 people and she laughed and said "dunno". Wow! We finished the whole single bag and asked for another pot 5 separate times....yes really....5 times. And never received it. Whilst we watched other tables served, we were then brought the wrong meal - it was placed in front of us and then taken away to another table. We waited 1 hour 30 minutes for our meals which were eventually brought to us in stages (mushy peas arrived 15 minutes after the fish and chips they were supposed to accompany). The food was actually not bad, but the service......I really can't exaggerate how bad it was.

Great Fish & Chips, fresh and tasty service was fast and efficient. Arrived hungry and left with a tasty meal great value for lovely fish & Chips.

The food was cooked freshly and was absolutely delicious. Waited a long time as the shop was very busy but in the end this was worth it as the fish in particular was excellent. The batter was very light and crispy. Service was friendly and professional.

Nice meal, not greasy not alot else you can say bout fish an chips no parking outside you can eat in or takeaway they also do kebabs

Had to wait 30 minutes for an order of one fish + chips and one chips + gravy , watched many that had come in and was served straight away , yes there was some customers that had pre ordered but it was like serve the locals first , the meal it's self was good but to have to wait 30 mins is a bit ridiculous to say the least

A tasty, low cost fish and chip supper in this small restaurant attached to the fish and chip shop. Well worth a visit!

Food fair but a little expensive. We went in the restaurant and service was a little slow and no one asked if we wanted a desert.

We got cod and chips (and onion rings) for four people, from Gary's Fish Bar twice during our stay in Goodwick Fishguard this summer. The first time we ate them from the wrapper sitting by the sea in Goodwick and the second time we took them home to the cottage we were staying in. The food was really good on both occasions.. Both times, there was quite a queue and a bit of a wait so its worth going along a while before you think you need to. Gary's fish bar cooks to order although large quantities of chips seem to be freshly turned out every few minutes.There were lots of staff about who all seemed very busy when we went in. I think its important to remember that if you want food freshly cooked to order and not something that has been under the warmer for a while then you have to be prepared to wait. That patience will be rewarded. The fish and chips (and onion rings) we had were good quality, freshly cooked, piping hot and really tasty. There were no bones in our fish at all. We all really enjoyed both our meals on both occasions. For us It WAS well worth the wait.

After a very disappointing arrival to Goodwick/Fishguard we found Gary's chippy. You can eat in as well. We had a drink at the only pub in Goodwick while we waited.

Called in with the family as a treat and it was far from it! Terrible service, terrible food and there isn't enough money in Wales to make me go back. NEVER AGAIN!

Having searched hard in Goodwick for somewhere to eat in the evening, Gary’s Fish Bar came upon us as an oasis. It boasted a 5 Star Hygiene Rating and was bright, clean and tidy. We were served immediately; I looked at the menu and fancied the plaice, my friends chose the haddock. No plaice, no haddock! No other fish but cod, which was nicely cooked but had little flavour. The food was served on glass plates with chips, a small side salad and lemon. It was about £8.00 per serving. They do serve other simple dishes and canned beer and soft drinks – and desserts, I believe. I would have given it four stars had it had a full menu.

We were looking for a fish and chip shop in Fishguard and were surprised at the lack of a proper shop in the town square. We checked on line and found Gary's with reviews and rove down to buy fish and chips that were really enjoyable.

This takeaway was fantastic. There was a long queue when we arrived, which usually means good things! He was frying to order and it was well worth the wait....delicious, hot and crispy!!

Best fish & chips in the area. You do have to be patient as its cooked fresh and gets very busy, but well worth the wait.

ordered a large fish and chips and roe chips which were both freshly cooked , the place looked very clean and well maintained and it was a pleasure to purchase food from such friendly staff it was also nice that cod roe was available as a lot of places don't know of it, but it's popular in the midlands the price was very reasonable, good value as the fish was a good size, also the two pieces of cod roe. having eaten them we found them to be lovely tasting really crispy batter not soggy and chips which were not greasy but lovely tasting i've tried fish and chips elsewhere in fishguard but they didn't come close to this place highly recommend a visit soon .

A really welcoming fish and chip shop/restaurant with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Generous portions, crispy chips and lovely battered fish.

My daughter and I were looking forward to fish and chips after a long coastal path walk. Sadly we experienced the worst fish and chips ever so greasy!

This was the only place open in the area, apart from a very expensive pub, on a Monday night so I ventured in. It was very basic but the food and service was ok.
