Occasionally, you may be/I'm made to feel like an insect.Maybe it's just me. Unless you're a regular - and if you are you wont be reading this - then don't be holding your breath for a "Hi, how are you - how's your day so far?" That said - I love it. No corporate "s...." Great choice of x6 constantly changing choice of ales on the front bar - beware though - you'll walk/fall out through the front door one day with a voice in your head screaming 'oops' Supreme location - sit outside when it's raining, honestly it doesn't matter if you do get wet, does it. Do it - go there & drink

A fantastic ‘wet lead’ pub, i.e., doesn’t do food other than crisps, nuts, etc.. Excellent, well kept cask ales. A special mention for Danni, who, on learning we were particularly looking for Burning Sky beers, sent a group message to other publicans to locate some as the ones in her cellar were not ready to be served. We will definitely be returning.

A proper local boozer in traditional style. There's no pretence here, just superb ales with cool barstaff and an interior left over from a previous age thankfully, one which no one has messed around with at all. Basically, proper pub heaven.

You want ale, you wsnt lots of ales, you want locals to chat to you, you don't want Sky sports distraction, you want character, you want small pub, you want a proper slice of English hospitality.....you got all these at the Gardeners. And it is reasonably priced too...I only popped in for a half and hours later left. Plenty of well kept ales.

Strange little pub, but it does feel very cliquey, in a non threatening way. Hardly room for the proverbial swinging cat, but this only adds to the quirkiness. VERY well priced drinks and well kept cask ales. Super friendly young barmaid, who makes you feel at ease and welcome. They have a couple of tables and chairs outside on the side footpath, so although not exactly prime location, you do get fresh air and the occasional passer by Not the greatest pub in the World, but if you are looking for that long gone, traditional, local ale house...you have probably found it here. Worth checking out if you are passing.

Pre-lockdown, this place was affectionately know to us the Murderer's Arms on account of the colourful bunch of local characters huddled around the bar. Now, there is no huddling to be had, we were all socially-distanced in the yard outside around barrel tables with unlimited fresh air. The ales and ciders are still the best in Lewes. There is still, mercifully, absolutely NO food, like any truly great pub. We brought our own crusty bread. Brilliant staff, as ever.
