Food was good, service ok but the whole place seemed underwhelming. The atmosphere was not a good vibe, whole place needs a deep clean and tidying up. Especially the toilets.

We were made to feel like an inconvenience. We were asked without apology to move seats twice whilst they fussed with moving furniture around, despite the place being otherwise empty. We left when asked to move seats a third time. The coffee was fine, the pastries were dry and overbaked to the point of being moderately blackened.

The fish pie was of decent quality but the steak was not only very ordinary, and most unappetising in appearance, but accompanied by the most forlorn looking sad little side salad. Difficult to understand how such a dish could be served up!

We had a delicious brunch time snack at the cafe du jardin. The entrance way is unassuming but don't let that fool you, this rustic restaurant serves delicious bites and thirst quenching drinks in a relaxed and informal French cafe style both outdoor and indoor tables and believe me this place gets busy. Our server, Albie was an absolute gem, he worked hard to ensure no one was waiting, very attentive and capable. As you can see from my photos the food is excellent. However I wished I had ordered one of the tasting plates as they look fantastic.

Visit for a quick lunch ruined a lovely & expensive morning in Lewes. Service polite but hopelessly slow. Food served impossibly hot with very hard "bread" accompanying a spicy soup, a "quiche" being a square of puff pastry over-dosed with too much cheese and a side of chips served in a bowl that was difficult to eat from. I'm sure it would be lovely given a couple of hours but best avoided if you only have 45 minutes.

Cute café with an outdoor courtyard next to an Antiques shop. Went there for coffee and cake but the lunch menu items looked yummy. The lemon meringue cake was delicious as was the orange and ginger cake. There are large parasols in the courtyard to provide shelter. The outdoor seats had cushions on them so they were comfortable to sit on. Service was pleasant.

After a delightful walk around Lewes incorporating the old Priory, Anne of Cleaves owned property and the Castle, we walked down the high street and over the river and found this little gem, full of character and reasonably priced. It had been a very hot morning, so a shaded seat in the courtyard was most welcome. A large pot of tea was ordered together with a pain au chocolate and a piece of orange cake. Delightful. A good pot of tea, a generous slice of home made cake, a lovely pain au chocolate, all pleasantly and efficiently served. Lovely. Thank you to all concerned.

Could have been a lovely morning tea stop, but service wasn’t great. Only one water seemed to be working and when I popped inside to get our bill and pay, I was gruffly told to wait at the table and someone would come ….. We had already been waiting 15mins for a bill. No niceties for a paying customer from the lady in the kitchen!

We stumbled upon this cafe as we saw a billboard advertising. Although tucked away it didn't take long to find. There was a quaint seating area outside but because it was cold we opted for indoors. This was down some steps. Hot chocolate and coffee were both great and the cakes delicious. Friendly waitress too. It filled up whilst we were there so guessing locals know about this delightful place.

We stopped off for a light lunch while shopping. We sat downstairs (chilly room) and were attended to immediately but sadly the food took at least 30 mins and more like 40 to arrive. Mine came first and my husband's after about 5 minutes. There were only 2 other tables occupied downstairs and outside was by no means full. The food was good, but the long wait was not. We didn't have time for dessert or coffee because our car park ticket would have expired. When I politely mentioned this it on paying the lady apologised profusely and said "We just haven't got it together today"

Nice place something of a hidden secret tucked away in courtyard by reclaim building and furniture emporium style place. Can get busy and in cold weather worth wrapping up to keep warm. There are some inside seats down in basement area. Slight negative is they don't like you going to look at the counter and haven't always been friendly Insisting you sit down first and wait to be served. Which not great if you want to see what sort of cakes and pastries they have. However still like the place. Also great to explore the emporium style buildings and furniture shops.

We found this cafe when walking around Lewes. Set in an enchanting Garden and antique store it looked lovely. However, despite being quiet, the server acknowledged our presence, then proceeded to ignore our existence. We sat for 15 minutes whilst she wandered round aimlessly. We arrived and sat down at a table with chairs and a bench that had three old ( not antique ) flower hanging baskets with soil in them and one had a half dead geranium planed in it !! The surroundings were full of antiques and flower pots with half dead plants in them! The waiter was very friendly but clearly didn’t listen as got our order completely wrong! It took ages to arrive and we were aware of an older woman running around looking continually stressed! I own a café myself and was quite shocked at how untidy the surroundings were and how unkept! We have been on a long lockdown and all had plenty of time to spruce up out outdoor areas so no excuse. The food was good but the wait very very long! The owner needs to plant Beautiful pots of flowers and put some funky umbrellas up with a bit of chilled music perhaps and get more staff The idea is great but the execution badGood food though

Astonishing the lack of manners from one particular waiter. Just very rude and not welcoming at all, for no reasons. We tried to get a table for a group of 5, and when we sat down we got told we couldn't sit as the table was just for 4 ppl apparently....he just left us there, standing without saying anything else or trying to find a solution or just saying to wait for a bigger table..nothing. also, when we tried to look around for a bigger table he looked quite bothered, and definitely not willing to help. We then decided to leave. That's a shame for whoever owns that place, as your gonna end up with this kind of reviews just because one member of your staff couldn't be bothered to do his job, and actually just behave like a normal person with basic social skills. What an asshxle.

The staff were courteous and helpful, although our waiter said only one of our party had to sign in to Track and Trace. That was true after the first lockdown but I'm not sure it is this time round.
