Olde worlde. Great service, delicious cakes. Fridge full of cakes/buns and counter stocked with brownies, rocky road and savoury items. I've had afternoon tea previously and it didnt disappoint, we all took doggie bags home as couldn't eat it all. Best booking as gets really busy, if you can't get in when you want don't despair, it's worth the wait for available slot. Lots of free parking and 10 minutes walk from bus stop on Holderness Road

Popped in unnanounced but the girls sorted us a table out. Much better to book as it’s very busy. Had cake, sausage rolls and coffees. Very nice, fab service and must go back as the afternoon tea looked amazing. The cakes also were great!

Garden Village tea room provided the buffet for my husbands 70th birthday. It was absolutely delicious and fresh. It also catered for our vegetarian family members. There was ample food and the remaining guests took some home. I would not hesitate to recommend them. My sister is also going for afternoon tea soon which I heard is equally as good.

Visited this place today as a treat that my wife had arranged. Never really understood the fuss about afternoon tea. All i can say is now i get it, the food is nothing short of AMAZING. Everything is homemade and so fresh. The sandwiches are packed with filling, the scotch eggs, sausage rolls and quiche is quite simply the best ive ever tried. Then there's the cakes, my god the cakes!!!! What a fantastically run, friendly and brilliant place. Well done ladies you'll see us again. 👏🏻

Great to see the place full and vibrant on an afternoon. I had the ham and mustard on tiger bread with a sausage roll (best I’ve tasted for a while) highly recommend.

i had booked the meal 2 weeks in advance by text as i was taking my friend who is ill for lunch which later turned into afternoon tea instead when we arrived we were stood waiting around as we appreciated they were busy then we were seated on a lovely little table close to kitchen and where then told we will take you in the other room which is cosier but was not there were 3 tables set up and none in use at time and the staff pulled out a little square table which only just fit our afternoon tea tea pot and scones cups and saucers i felt everything was thrown together and did not enjoy the experience at all i just wanted this place to be part of my friends possibly last memories but she felt the same too..i just cant understand why we were treated that way when i gave 2 weeks notice i know we are not regulars but could have been sad really just been honest

What a quaint little place, from the furnishings to the crockery such a lovely place. Had afternoon tea here for my mums 80th birthday and it was delightful, plenty of food and as much tea/coffee you could drink, we had to take doggy bags home with us as there was that much. Thank you Anne and girls for everything, we will certainly be returning

This was on our ‘go to’ list since before lockdown! We booked afternoon tea for 2 people. 1:30 was the latest booking I could have as they close at 3. It was very busy when we arrived so it is obviously very popular. The afternoon tea was £15 per person with unlimited tea & coffee. We had a selection of sandwiches, scotch eggs, sausage roll, mini-quiche. There were 2 scones (a little heavy) with jam & cream and a selection of tasty cakes. We had to take some home for later! Beware though, no card payments! We managed to scratch together the money between us. It was very nice for the money and we will definitely return. I am taking the grandchildren for a treat in a couple of weeks.

My parents had heard good reviews of this tea room so it was nice to visit for afternoon teas. We ordered 2 normal afternoon teas as well as a gluten free and a vegan afternoon tea. All were delicious, special mention to the tasty mini Victoria sponge, sausage roll and gluten free bread. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Cash or bank transfer only for payment. Would certainly return.

A fabulous old school dining experience which you just don't find in Hull these days. A really warm welcome, we were seated in the comfortable bar area for drinks whilst we perused the menu, we gave our order and then after a short period of time we were shown to our table. My two sons had sirloin steak each that were cooked to perfection, I had a fantastic porterhouse steak that was packed full of flavour and my parents both had sea bass. The vegetables do not come with the meal, but this means you can choose what you want, and with the meal being silver served, you decide on your portions. Our table ordered three desserts as two of our party were full. A rather nice end to a great meal. I used the gents bathroom as I believe if a restaurants toilets are clean, everywhere else will be clean and my theory holds true. The toilets were clean, hygienic and smelled fresh. There was a plentiful stock of hand soap and hand towels. This little restaurant is a gem of a find, and it can be quite easily overlooked when walking down Whitefriargate. This restaurant has been going for a good 60 years and so I would hope people go and support this local business so they can look forward to another 60 years in Hull

Food was OK but appalling service after a family member had a health incident at the pub. Bear in mind how cold it was outside my mother was told to go outside rather than stay inside and keep warm whilst her husband was getting checked over in an ambulance after having 3 fits. Disgusting, the least they could have done was to sit her down maybe give a warm drink whilst she waited for the ambulance people to come back to her as she was upset and worried and wait for them to let her know how her husband was and why he fitted.
