Best shop in Frome, i cannot thank John and his staff enough. Both food and service excellent. Truly organic in every way.

I walked away from your shop today upset and confused by my treatment, The lady who was in today ( 13th November) must of taken a dislike to me , I can assure you I’m a very pleasant polite person , but for some reason she was warm & welcoming with the customer prior to me , and then as I was apologising that it had taken me a while to look for my bank card in my purse - there was no communication really with me or my daughter, the next customer that walked in got a good morning greeting as soon as they walked in , both me and my daughter looked at each other , and as soon as we walked out we both said to each other can you believe that happened, treated me like no one and greeted two other customers, I have no idea why , all I can say is I won’t come back in to your health shop and will buy else where due to the ignorance of the lady that served me today in your shop. Really taken back by this experience.

Great place and good coffee, cakes and eats! Vegetarian and vegan with lots of ethical goods to buy too. Couple of tables outside for sitting and watching Frome go by! Love it. 💚

The garden cafe doesn’t seem to be open anymore, it is now a shop selling all sorts of healthy foods, fresh veg, supplements and homeware products There was a counter to buy a selection of freshly made salads and hot pasties, pies and vegan sausage rolls to rake away which were good value and very tasty! We had read the menu before arriving so we were expecting the cafe to be open and to enjoy some of the lovely food, so was a bit disappointing.

Used to love this place always came for food everytime visiting as had lovely courtyard area. Went today and very disappointed to see they'd packed up the cafe (despite not changing the name 🤷🏼‍♀️) really sad to see.

Lovely beautiful vegetable, vegan, coffee and small bite shop. Smells lovely when you walk in excellent selection of breads, olives, grocery and dried goods.

Popped in a couple of times to grab a takeaway salad from this cafe. They change the salads everyday and do a really good selection of vegetarian and vegan pastry's. They have little iron tables outside to enjoy the sunshine. I do wish they had a small area indoors for if the weather is not so good.

It looked nice, but it is only a take away shop, not a cafe, so we could not eat there.

I use to love this cafe, great vegan options, cosy and a great service. Now they've changed it and took the indoors seating area away they don't offer hot food service apart from take away sausage rolls etc salad boxes which I find more expensive than normal. Such a shame as it was a great place to meet friends and family whilst eating a great meal. Not my go to place in frome no more unfortunately and I find the vegan cafes in frome aren't great. So the garden cafe was top of the frome cafés. Bring back the indoor seating and lovely menu you use to do. ...

The service and produce is always genuine and natural here. Well worth a look if you are new to Frome and know food is the best medicine

I used to like this place, but when I went last week the man was so rude to me that we went elsewhere instead. His unpleasant sarcasm, took me a few minutes to realise how rude he was being to me. There are many other lovely cafes in Frome, so I shall avoid this one now.

Seems like a really artisan sort of place, it's simplistic design leaves room for the imagination to expect an amazing standard of coffee but falls short in reality. Although greeted with a hello, the staff were less than friendly, seeming impatient to take our order (which was wrong but that happens) leaving us feeling less than welcome than before we arrived. Unfortunately not somewhere I'd go again.

Yummy food! Can take a wile to get a seat, and website seems to not be working (get an error message, so unsure whether bookings are possible)

First time we were today after a long time Lovely helpful staff as we were not 100% sure where to enter into the cafe. Handgel on hand track n trace system Lovely lady assistant on hand. Took us to our table l much have preferred to sit at another table compared to the one we were shown. Anyway we had coffee n cake each. Couldn't fault any of it. Pleasant waitress. Nice atmosphere. Everywhere was clean Noticed quite a few customers, in the cafe and in the extension conservatory type cafe We will be back. The shop selling variety of food n groceries etc. It was all clean n everywhere looked tidy n good to look at including gifts etc.

They've really got a grip on the COVID procedures. Absolutely perfect, there's a little socially distanced queue but they have one person in the shop at a time & it's very covid safe. Also beautiful cakes, drinks, snacks & staff

Will not allow people with mask exemptions to enter.... which is discriminatory and illegal

Not the friendliest welcome, but the coffee and cake was good. Vegan food served so, after restrictions are lifted, I would like to take my disabled gran and my children and hope for a better experience.

Lovely stopping place for a cyclist. Only problem too much to choose from and eat which negates the energy output. But seriously yum yum

So pleased these guys are managing to stay open during lockdown and always try and pop in when we’re doing our food shop in Frome. Coffee is good but can be a bit hit and miss depending on who makes it. Favourite part is the chocolate orange brownie which is fantastic. Have a lot of other nice looking cakes but haven’t tried as don’t want to be disappointed- maybe but two next time! Hope they can keep going and then flourish when the lockdown is over

So pleased that the next door shop has remained opened during the various lockdowns and restrictions this year has brought! It has been our saviour, with an amazing selection of locally sourced produce. They have adapted the cafe due to the current situation so sadly we can't sit in or enjoy the beautiful garden but they are still serving good food and coffee as takeaway. Really friendly and helpful staff too. The owner even did a home delivery for us when we were unable to go into the shop.

Used to be great, friendly with good food. Now absolute reversal, same old food selection cooked by grumpy Scottish woman and owned by a mono-syllabic old man. Soonest its sold and they have gone the better for all of Frome.

Excellent coffee, rigorous hygiene.

The food here is always nice and the vegetarian breakfast is quirky. I do think, however, the staff here could do with an injection of enthusiasm. When I'm shelling out my hard-earned I don't expect to be pampered and fussed over but I do expect a little friendliness and a smile. Or am I being old-fashioned?

Lunch at GARDEN CAFE was totally enjoyable, food as you would expect from a kitchen which uses good products and cooks them with professional TLC. The wine to go with it was perfect and the bill was very digestible. BUT for the coffees we went NEXT DOOR, where there is a mine of great products to take home and wonderful staff. A very pleasurable experience. We will go back!

After a trip to the cinema, nip round the corner and partake of a particularly good toasted sandwich - I had roasted vegetables with hummus and he had caramelised onion and cheddar cheese, add to that a rather good flat white on the side = Delicious 😊😊

Definitely a very busy cafe, but we were lucky and managed to grab a table after only waiting for five minutes. Food was fresh, well made and tasty; partner chose the mushroom and spinach flan, which came with some new potatoes and salads, while I chose the toasted hummus and roasted vegetable sandwich. Pastry was very good with regards to the former, and in terms of the latter bread was high quality. We both agreed we'd come again; from what I saw the cakes and scones looked particularly appetising, so we'd certainly try them next time! .

Food ok. Veggie. Cramped inside with steps and uneven access. Not suitable for people with mobility problems.

We've had lunch a few times and are always pleased. Cozy and a great location.

What a sensational lunch. We ordered the tapas and it exceeded our expectations. Every part of it was delicious. I only wish I could have eaten more. Totally recommend this place for lunch.

Delicious salads and sandwiches.

We had soup and goats cheese atop focaccia- both very tasty. Had to clear the table to gain a table which stopped us giving 5 stars. Ambience good.

Our experience with The Garden Cafe has become somewhat reminiscent of habit; we love their burger and they represent great value for money. We found the majority of visits to be excellent, with our most recent couple being a little underwhelming. Their vegan 'sausage' rolls are £3.90 each? They are not a large item and actually didn't resemble sausage meat in anyway - more of nut roast vibe. Coffee appeared to be organic, which is crucial; however, the use of a burr chamber grinder means you have no idea how fresh that ground coffee actually is. Overall, definitely worth a visit and the staff are generally very friendly.

A busy cafe is a good indicator that the food will be good and this cafe had very tasty food at a fair price. Will use again for a light lunch.

Excellent fried breakfast on a quiet Monday morning. Recommended.

Probably the best vegetarian meal I've had in ages. The non-vegetarians in my group were not that enthusiastic when we arrived, but they soon changed their tune and were raving about the food too by the end of the meal. Great service too. We'll definitely return.

Pleasant lunch; toasted brie, cranberry and celery sandwich and local apple juice. Pleasant staff, outdoor terrace ideal for a warm day. But the buts are - smokers on the outdoor terrace wafting cigarette smells - and the loos could do with a refurb.

After a lunch of quiche and salad at this friendly restaurant I became very ill on the way home. Violently ill and chronic diarrhoea. I should steer clear if I were you. As I had nothing else to eat that day, this cafe has to be the culprit...... It could do with being a bit cleaner, no one comes to clear tables or, to wipe them.

I traveled to see a friend and we spotted this hidden treasure. It’s a narrow alley which is filled with fruits and old ornaments. Everything ties together beautifully. It was a hot day which makes its even more relaxing to sit and enjoy the back garden. You have to see it to appreciate the hard work and effort that has obviously gone into this business. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We didn’t have time to eat. Worth the stop.

Lovely breakfast with good options. In my sleepy morning state, I didn't realise the cafe was vegetarian. So I didn't manage to satisfy my bacon needs, but it was a great little breakfast with a good variety of teas.

As usual the food was gorgeous and no animals were involved. Ate on terrace, what a delight Can't recommend it too highly.

Very quaint rustic cafe selling delicious food and drink with a lovely outdoor courtyard garden

I bought lunch for my family recently. One person found a large metal rivet in his mushrooms on toast which ruined this meal & restaurant experience. Appalled, and concerned- he could have choked on that thing- I took his plate to the front counter. The staff person did not appear concerned at all, asking what I wanted. Well- to be honest- I wanted you to appear concerned- not annoyed. We were offered a new plate of food, a replacement or refund. He chose to get something else to go. That’s all well and good- I will not be returning. Service recovery is an art- you should learn it.. or at the very least- learn to show some concern for your customers.

Just waited half an hour for a toastie! Staff were quite rude saying "Well everyone's ordering toastie you'll have to wait your turn". If they'd said it will take half an hour I wouldn't have bothered ordering.

Lovely garden/courtyard to have your lunch, coffee or cakes. Quite expensive. Food is tasty and there are quite a few vegetarian options. Nice place to meet friends, go on your own or with the family.

This was a lovely find. I felt that I was sitting in a secret garden surrounded by flowers and old flagstones and individual tables and chairs. In the background was the tinkling of a water feature made from an old tea urn. Seating areas are covered so it doesn't matter if it rains. The steps are steep not suitable for wheelchair users but there is an inside cafe at street level. The the food is really lovely, unique healthy salads if that's your choice. Great place to bring a friend for lunch.

Zuiver vegetarisch is goed voor één keer in de week vind ik. Als dit dan in deze zaak kan gebeuren zouden we het zeker opnieuw doen. Een aangename en gedreven dienster die zich vrolijk door onze avondmaaltijden beweegt. Voldoende keuze, de nodige uitleg en kwalitatief lekker eten. Zeer lekkere "Engelse" desserts ook. Binnen de vegetarisch restaurants scoort dit restaurant zeer hoog.

Good quality interesting & tasty veggie food. I’m not vegetarian but really enjoyed my meal here. I had the cashew patty & hubby had Thai veggie burger. Mains around £10. Would recommend.

Such a lovely place to visit. Always come here when I’m in town.

...but I really loved my lunch here. Normally, I avoid these trendy, healthy establishments like the plague, being far happier in a pub with a choice of ales and good red meat options, but my goats cheese and red pepper sandwich was superb, and the bottled lager wasn’t too bad either. Fast and efficient service and a lovely sunny terrace to sit in made lunch here a pleasure.

We shared the cashew nut & Bean Patties with three salads. The choices of salad were brow rice, pecan and broad bean and green salad. All were fresh and very flavorful. Service great and we ate outside. The sun was brilliant, temperature 30 C.

After exploring the old parts of Frome, The Garden Cafe was a welcome stop for a relaxing lunch of a high quality. Very welcoming staff, excellent food and a beautiful garden. Little touches such as the plants and quirky seating area helped to enhance the experience.

Good ambiance and hot , tasty Cappuccino coffee. Good selection of cakes and pastries.

Lovely cafe, I had a salad portion and the size was very generous, lots of different parts to try, very healthy. Lovely coffee too, and a nice seating area outside.

Thai burger with salad, fantastic. The last of the carrot cake? Mine and worth it. The garden seating was wonderful and they had reserved a bright warm afternoon just for us.

Self service, cosy cafe serving genuinely good, home cooked, vegan and vegetarian fare. It is good that places like this still exist and shame there aren't more of them
